Aim on Edge T Mobile - XPERIA X1 General

Is there anyone who is running aim on t mobile edge 5.99$ plan?
I know there is app: eBuddy but the interfrace on xperia is horrible.
Anyone can give me some tricks maybe how to get past t mobile proxy? thanks

use palringo, it can handle aim and other accounts easily and the interface is great, it can run in the background and alert you when you get a message while you use the rest of the phone

Wow bro you are amazing!!! Thank you!~

Yes of course. WiFi or GPRS connections will enable you to use any instant messaging program that doesn't use text as a way to "IM."

I don't know of any good IRC client as I do not use any but this one has very good reviews on every site I see it on (And magazine reviews) http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=5713
but will i get double charged as this concerned customer wrote:

If you use Agile Messener, or the new Windows Live Mobile, you WILL NOT be charged using text messages. the AOL program (and the protocol, in my opinion) is retarded in it's method of message delivery. The two programs I have mentioned above, send IMs using your data tariff ONLY, unless you are connected to a WiFi access point, in which case, IMs will be sent over that network, rather than the mobile one.
Hope this has re-assured you...

Instant Messagers

are there any free IM's for yahoo messager that will alert you when you get an instant message?
mmmmm Instant massages.
Did you try Fring?
I am using Palringo. It's free and does some nice things, can quickly capture and send a picture (url to it), send voice files.
It also supports Google Talk, Hotmail (i think?).
goto beejive.com and try jivetalk. its a little buggy alpha but still pretty good.
the best one is Agile. it does all the messaging services, it has been around a LONG time, no bugs, very trimmed down but supports video, voice, and it's free...here's a link: http://www.agilemobile.com/

i must have downloaded an already regg'ed CAB file then, cause ive used mine for over 2 months.
#10, thanks for the info on Slick. I've been using it for a few days and I like it.
Best of all, for me at least, it supports custom status messages and "Idle" time on Yahoo.
Thanks again, I didn't come across it when I was searching for IM clients.
Id use slick but it has problems with away messages and does not play nice with clients such as trillian or pidgin. People dont receive your messages at all. IM+ seems to be the best solution. I tried jivetalk it crashed too much. Palringo was okay but did not support tabbed ims . My only gripe with IM+ is the screen flashes as you hit enter during typing. Almost like flickering. Slick or the others didnt do that.
But IM+ feature wise is very good, and has a today plugin for listing new received ims.
IM+ .Parlingo. Both very good programs.

my one gripe with IM+ is that when the person you are talking to is using the "official" AIM client it will randomly lock up when they send you a messege
i love that i can do voice chat over agile. it rocks. glad i downloaded a free version on accident, lol. works like a charm.

I've been using slick 0.38. I can explain to you how to uninstall .42 and install .38(it involves a reg edit). PM me if you want, or someone reply here if there's enough interest and I'll write up a quick doc for it.
On a more serious note. I am using Fring. But memory consumption is a problem.
Does anybody out there know if there is a way for you to be offline, and shown in your buddies contact list but in away mode, and then when they send you a message maybe it pops up a message on their contact list saying that you are currently away but if they would like to page you that the program would call your phone with an sms message to jump online and log into your IM program?
Confused yet? Me too.

I have uninstalled Fring and am now using Palringo. Much happier. The memory footprint is way smaller. I like the threaded messages and the ability to send recorded voice messages and photos thru IM. I dont use Skype so Fring is just more program than I need.

Can anyone recommend me...?

Can anyone recommend me a good completely free aim for the htc 8525? I would like to have my full buddy list, work on 3g not texts and have a good notification like screen pop up and vibration with ever new im. Also please dont make it that you show up as online on a mobile fone and dont make it that u have to refresh your buddy list like oz messenger.
Does anyone know of a program like this?

Hello you can download fring, I am using it is one of the best program for chatting you can load ICQ, Skype, VoIP, messenger, etc
and is for free

Whats a good im app thats uses sms?

I searched but only found oz but its a resource hog. All the other im apps I came across seems to use only data.
Edit: Im looking for something other than oz.
palringo
i dont know of any that use sms but palringo is great.
The OZ progam uses SMS rather than data.
Oz is about the only game in town. what you seek is not easy to find for reasons I would rather not explain...just know that the carrier has to support the IM app if it uses text...this means usually it is for phones without full internet abilities....which is why you see so few for the HTC and other smartphones. Get the net, jivetalk and palringo rock.

finally its on the road...

i've been looking for an similar app to show the amount of sms/minutes i've used in the current month. But so far no luck. I've seen many data usage ones but i have unlimited data usage so its not use to me.
Would be a very useful app!

+1 for Meebo, although it quits unexpectedly for me sometimes. Much better than Nimbuzz.
SipDroid seems good for VOIP
hopefully yours comes on schedule, mine sure didnt.
