aye - but after you got the codecs are downloaded ... its all goood!

And whats so special about it? I mean if you tswitch the xperia in mass storage mode its nothing more or less like a USB-Stick or a very expensive minisd-card reader

isn't it fascinating that the Xperia doesn't interact very much with the ps 3, but is ok with the xbox?
I mean, sure it runs WM, but come on... SONY Ericsson...

its the fact that how many people have tryed with a windows mobile device.....not many by the sound of it,and the fact that i can go to anyones house with videos music etc and play it on a x-box.
can i do that with a iphone (not jail broken) i bet you cant.

i seriously dnt kno wat ur talking about..mine works just fine with my ps3..i think people just forget that wen ur phone is in disk drive mode..ur essentially making it a memory stick or usb drive, so it will work basically anywhere..same reason why u can charge ur phone from a ps3

Connect Diamond to Xbox360?

I tried and nothing either active sync nor Internal Storage.
Thats kind o sucks.
Other experiences?
huh? What exactly are you trying to do by connecting your diamond to ur 360? if u use it as a storage drive it should work(obviously for storage).
So the question is what are you wanting to do?
You should bought a PS3
You can connect it, save your games in your phones, transfer music, photos, videos, movies, etc
I use it this way and I love it, just as simple to plug and have fun
My Diamond works perfectly on my 360, for videos, music and picture when you set it to "Internal Storage" for the connection.

I cant live with out Gear of War and Forza2.
I don't know if this will help, but try different USB ports. The first time I connected my diamond, the Diamond didn't recognize it was connected to a device. After that, the popup for ActiveSync/Internal Storge/Internet Share comes up and you should choose Internal Storage. It should show up in the as a media source immediately after that.
Good luck!

With the USB-Cable
Don't use Active Sync to connect, use Disk Drive in Settings!
Shifty
I wish it charged the X1 though and that they were more nativley intergrated, since they both are Sony products.

Doesn't work that way. If the Xperia can be integrated with the PS3, then the other WM devices will also be more integrated.
An app that turns your WM phone into a PS3 remote is what we all need. There's been a lot of talk, but no one has actually done anything afaik.

Xbox 360

Is there any way to stream Music/Pics/Videos from my G1 (I should say any android device tbh) to the Xbox 360?
You can mount the device but the Xbox 360 doesn't recognise that there's a Portable USB Device connected.
In theory it should work, Mounting the device should turn it into the likes of any standard USB Mass Storage device and therefore the Xbox 360 should just assume it's a generic USB Storage medium.
P.S. I know this could have been put into Dream Q&A but I feel there is more room for discussion in this thread rather than a simple Q&A and that's the end of it type of thing? If the mods disagree please move.

I could swear I've done it before with a friends 360. Very odd that it didn't work for you, as you said in theory there's no reason it shouldn't work. Could it be to do with Ext and linux-swap partitions? Although I would have thought it would ignore them just as explorer on windows does and only mount FAT32...

That's what I would have thought, I do have an EXT3 Partition but no Swap. It should just ignore that partition and see a 14.6GB FAT32 Partition?
Will try it in a Sony Ericsson and see if it works, if it does it must be a problem with android
IF it is an Android problem, I wonder what the actual problem is and weather it can be remedied with some sort of Application...
I have the same problem with my 360. Ive even tried connecting fat32 formatted jump drives, those seem to read just fine. Maybe microsoft has implemented something in a 360 update to block android phone usb connectivity? I smell a conspiracy! lol

okay in the newest 360 update, the update actually renders most 3rd party storage useless. another way for microsoft to get u to use their products.

New App Idea for TP2

Hey All, I came across an Idea for the TP2, could be used for any for the most part. But As I was coming here I hooked my phone to the usb cable to sync, and then it dawned on me, unless there is one out there already.
Is it possible or could it be done to have the usb cable also act as a sound relay? What I mean is, we all hookup our tp2 to the computer to sync, but I also use MyMobiler to see the screen, so I was wondering since some of us used wired headsets, could an app be created to send the sound signals through the USB cable to the computer, and have the computer work as a handsfree speakerphone? You could use the phone mic since it would be close enough to you.
Just a thought
Well, there's this... http://www.bluesoleil.com/products/Default.aspx?TID=14
Can't remember whether it was Panasonic or Motorola who had this PC sync program which also allowed phone calls though the computer. Loved it! It isn't a new idea, but it is certainly a good one.

Only downfall is you have to have a mic on your computer, I figured you'd just use the phone mic itself. But damn someone beat me to the idea
i would like to see the usb send an audio signal out from the phone to lets say the cd player to hear music playing from the phone...
After reading it further, that works off bluetooth, not a usb cable, so the hunt is on still

Trying to add an external hard drive to webtop

I have Rooted this phone and installed the custom Adeo (is that the name of the ROM or the hacker?) ROM. I also did the webtop-mod-without-a-dock because I was bored. I have the HD dock and think it would be great if I could have my external Drive show up in the file browser. I could play my music and videos from there. I don't know how hard this would be so I figured I'd ask you guys that have much more Android experience.
**SOLVED** see page 2
Also, I would really like to play music from my phone over USB in the deck in my truck. The deck is made for "ipods" or iPhones and won't see my Atrix as a media device. Is there a mod I could do to the phone to make my deck recognize it and let me play music? Thanks guys
EDIT
USB thumb drives work just fine, why won't it pick up my external hard drive? Does it need to be formatted a certain way?

Your thumb drives are probably FAT32 and your external drive is likely NTFS. The webtop cannot read NTFS drives, they need to be FAT32 or some form of EXT
id hate to format it to find out it doesn't work lol
I use a FAT32 external drive and it works fine.
thank you very much sir

I don't think you'll be able to. You can try setting the phone as mass storage, but I doubt it will work.
This is 2011, these car audio manufactures need to realize that an ipod is not the only mp3 player on the market.
This sucks.

IMO this is the worst part about being an Android owner. Most consumer electronics are catered to iProduct.
My solution to the car stereo thing was to buy a deck that uses bluetooth audio.Works great that way.

That is definitely a solution, as is a standard headphone cable for the aux port. Problem is, bluetooth degrades quality and the aux cable doesn't charge. Also I like being able to change songs from the deck.
I think my solution will be to buy an old ass ipod on craigs and run the wire into my glovebox and just leave it in there.
That is of course unless someone figures out how to modify the usb certificate on the atrix to fake an ipod so I can just plug my phone in.

Actually screw that.
I frequently use all my battery throughout a single work day. I need that usb port to charge my damn phone! This needs to be figured out

Don't know if this has been answered but my WD "Mybook" took over 45mins to get "recognized" the USB thing popped up and it just said prepairing for like 30minutes or more.
Now whenever I plug it in it's basically instant on. I think it indexes it prior to using or something.

bringing this back. I finally got around to formatting my external drive to fat32 and every worked perfectly! excpet...
Fat32 has a severe limitation as it will not allow to me transfer any files onto the drive that are over 4gb. well most blu ray rips are at least 7gb. I know I can split the files up and recombine them, but that is extremely time consuming and clunky!
I then read that formatting the drive to an apple standard (hsp+ or something) would allow me to get passed the 4gb cap. while it may have, the webtop wont recognize the drive. so I'm back to square one.
not only that but I can't get the drive formatted back to a windows standard.
All im looking to do is have this drive be recognized by webtop and let me store all my media on it. If I can't get this figured out I'm buying an s2: (
Just an FYI, but the Atrix car dock provides audio out via USB. This means it will charge and play audio without having to do anything other than dock the phone. The included USB cable has a 3.5mm jack and includes the 3.5mm cable. The Car Dock app also provides a quick link to the music player.
The car dock is well worth the 40 bucks.
