With the USB-Cable
Don't use Active Sync to connect, use Disk Drive in Settings!
Shifty

I wish it charged the X1 though and that they were more nativley intergrated, since they both are Sony products.

Doesn't work that way. If the Xperia can be integrated with the PS3, then the other WM devices will also be more integrated.

An app that turns your WM phone into a PS3 remote is what we all need. There's been a lot of talk, but no one has actually done anything afaik.

And whats so special about it? I mean if you tswitch the xperia in mass storage mode its nothing more or less like a USB-Stick or a very expensive minisd-card reader
isn't it fascinating that the Xperia doesn't interact very much with the ps 3, but is ok with the xbox?
I mean, sure it runs WM, but come on... SONY Ericsson...
its the fact that how many people have tryed with a windows mobile device.....not many by the sound of it,and the fact that i can go to anyones house with videos music etc and play it on a x-box.
can i do that with a iphone (not jail broken) i bet you cant.

[Q] Dorkington's Dumb Question(s) Thread!

I've done some searching for some of the below with varying degrees of success, so unfortunately I have to ask, and I hope I'm not universally hated for it.
A little background: I've been an iOS user for 3 years and have an iMac with bootcamp (and Parallels access) as my main computer. I've jailbroken all of my iOS devices. I've done tech support in the past (now photographer/graphic design), but at the same time I'm not an expert by any stretch. Sooooo consider my technical abilities to be "moderate" with proper instruction.
On to the questions!
- Apparently stock Honeycomb cannot see Ad-Hoc networks, but a rooted one possibly can? Do I just need to root and it'll work? Or do I need to root and install something? I think I found answers on this...
- Xbox 360 controller does not work via USB, but there are other controllers that do work. Will a generic USB controller work, or is only the PS3 controller supported?
- By default it seems there is no spell checking going on when typing with the hardware keyboard, is there any way to fix this?
Thanks for any and all help (and even thanks for hilarious but snarky commentary about my ignorance ), and hopefully you don't mind some follow up questions that I struggle to find answers to.
I have two generic usb gamepads (both X360 style), one of them works very well and the other is a bit clunky...button 6-10 are not recognized but LS and RS are working fine... :s
You can try thumb keyboard...or Swype...

Thanks for the suggestions. Do you happen to know the brand of the well working controller?
I'll try out a couple different keyboards tonight.
Is there no spell check in active forms? (ie squiggly red line)

Not usually. Some applications, like Polaris Office, if I recall, do have active spellcheck.

That's a shame... is that something that could possibly be implemented by a developer and a rooted TF? Or is it something that we'd just have to wait on from Google?

erm.... the physical keyboard has auto correction facilities if thats what you mean ?
..... and a standard PS3 controller works fine (wired) as does a standard Wii controller (unwired)

[Q] Compatibility List C.T.R.L.R

With the Gamepad " C.T.R.L.R " and the included universal Smartphone clip, it should be possible to made your phone to a mobile game console.
In theory ...
+ Nexus 7 - the gamepad connects and works like expected
- LG G2 - the device can hardly find the controller. It couples the devices, but I get never a working connection in all 3 modes.
- Sony Xperia Z1 compact - same problem as the LG G2.
So the second reason for me to buy the M.O.J.O is invalid.

The mouse mode works on a PC.
PC game mode works as expected.
Using x360ce (XBox360 gamepad emulator) gives good PC compatiblity.
It's a bit buggy, with crashes but still very useful.
I hope that GameSmart app is also ported to PC and can emulate the xbox360 contoller, that would be sweet!
I tried pairing on iPhone5 but didn't pair, I thought iPhone5's have BT4, no biggy.
I haven't tried my phone (Nokia N900) as I doubt the BT dongle will be detected by the kernel, and I don't want to recompile support for it just yet

Continuum a poor excuse for Desktop to Phone connection, just want mymobiler back...

Windows 6.5 had this function, simply connect via wifi or USB (through activesync) and have 100% control over the phone from your mouse and keyboard. It was great, perfect and enabled no need to ever pickup my phone through my work day.
Continuum blows compared to this.
Do you think we will ever get an ability to RDC to our phone and do this full feature support?
No, SMS through Cortana, via my PC is not what I am talking about, and that sounds ridiculous as well.
You can connect a mouse and keyboard to your phone using USB OTG and Bluetooth. Is that what you're talking about?
Sort of. In the past, and currently on Android or on iphone via jailbreak, you can remotely control your phone through a PC. This gives a person the ability to continue to use the same mouse and keyboard as their desktop, answer calls and reply to texts, etc. I understand Continuum was never intentioned to do this.
http://www.ambassadorbase.at/2014/wp8-1-smartphone-vom-pc-aus-steuern/
This tool do at least what you want via usb. Wifi hopefully follow soon. Continuum is a function which is completely different from your needs. It has great options.
I'm pretty sure that continuum works with wired mouses and keyboards as well as wireless ones. The wired ones require the continuum dock, but it's free right now before sometime in january with a lumia 950 xl.
I use continuum with a 12€ usb c to hdmi adapter and a BT Keyboard with touchpad integrated and it works pretty good. Also the hdmi adapter is very small. This package is 40 euros good invested money.
Wait. With Continuum you are not using a PC at all?
Its to give you basic PC OnTheGo features.

With redstone (Anniverdary Update) you can control your phone from your pc, if you have a touch screen (for example, using a Surface Pro) you can use the touch screen connecting your usb cable.
Sold my dock to cash generator lol, £15, bloody gimmick rubbish.
With Anniversary Update you can use the Connect app thru wireless to connect to your phone ( Actually you your phone to the PC) and control it with the Keyboard and mouse of the PC. If you don't want the continuum feature you just have to go in the display setting/advance and select to mirror screen.

[Help] Xbox One controller to Android

Is it possible to use an Xbox one controller on android, I have seen conflicting statements, and if not just staight up, is there any way to get it working. Thank you guys. I do know this is probably a question thats extremely stupid to alot of you and it means alot for this help. Thanks
That depends entirely on how you intend to connect it......
If you intend to use a 'wired' controller via the USB socket on the phone then yes it is possible....though you will need an app of some sort to 'map' the buttons correctly.
If you intend to connect wirelessly, then you're out of luck.....had it been a PS3 or PS4 controller, it would have been a different story.
The xbox controller transmits via RF signals whereas the Sony equivalent transmits via bluetooth.
We can pair bluetooth devices to the phone without issue....but that's not the case for RF devices.
The only reason I know this is because I went through something similar in order to use ePSXe to play PS1 games on my S5 ....In the end I had to get a Moga bluetooth controller to do the job......
Edit.....My bad.....I was commenting about xbox 360 controllers.....just noticed you have an xbox one controller......which connects via wi fi (I believe). That has possibilities.....have you tried connecting it by wi fi direct? If it does connect that way, you'll still need some method of mapping the buttons. It may be the case that someone needs to develop an app that makes the devices communicate with each other too....afraid I haven't looked into that though....never needed it....
Sorry fella...
Edit 2.....just done a bit of research, it turns out there is no 'native' support in Android for wireless controllers, you (apparently) need an interface app and/or a rooted device that you can add/change code on....

In that case, yes it's possible. Here are a couple of youtube videos showing how it's done.........
https://youtu.be/yJ5KmhkBKcU
https://youtu.be/eDQqMH4POFQ
Though on one of them, it says that it probably won't work with the S5 stock firmware (some c**p to do with knox or something).....

Anyone else got anything that could help, Tried everything else still not working there has to be a way to get it working. Should mention its an S5

Have you thought about the alternatives available?
As I said earlier, I use this setup....
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00...dpPl=1&dpID=41fFpK+LwOL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1
.....and it works very well...no wires either.
All you have to do is to install the Moga Pivot app, turn bluetooth on and sync the devices....

now you can pair the Xbox one S controller (design lab included)with Bluetooth
BUT you need to update firmware first and add a profile to it with the Xbox accessories app (Xbox one or win10 store)

I understand updating the firmware...but why do we need to add a profile to it?
You need a Keyboard Layout File or the button mapping will be off. http://forum.xda-developers.com/shi...-one-slim-controller-bluetooth-t3398014/page2

it add it automatically after the update,it inter the controller owner by itself.
has anyone made any forward progress on this idea? I'm thinking about swapping my elite controller for an Xbox One S controller because I would find connecting to my phone much more useful than the elite features I seldom use.

yea Microsoft made the xbox one S controller fully android compatible by firmware upgrade ( you need a cable and a app on pc or xbox one.)
and this controller is bluetooth compatible.making most xbox one original controller (and elite) obsolete.
Anyone have any info on getting the second edition of the Xbox One controller with built-in bluetooth to work on Android?
bump just finished doing the firmware update on my gamepad, reset it and my phone, still thinks my triggers are my right stick. nothing in the xbox accessories app to switch axis around. sigh.
