With luck the only fault will be that the d/pad connector is loose:

my friend dropped her 8525 and now shes got the white screen. my guess is the screen cable got disconnected, but if that happened then wouldnt the screen not even light up? she hasnt said shes seen any cracks on the screen, anyone know the problem?

There are at least two multi connectors for the screen, one from digitizer and one to main board - so it's entirely possible screen is still receiving power but not signals from main board. That's not to rule out something more drastic but hopefully that's all it is.

Hi Mike.
This is my first post as I've so far managed to cure all my issues from just reading the forum. However, I am now having a similar problem with the white screen.
I have a cingular 8525. It fell, the following day the call and end buttons remained lit and wouldn't turn off, they also wouldn't work.
I soft rest, nothing, I then removed the battey and when I turned it back on, there was a white screen and the buttons below still don't work.
I have read the other posts on this issue, but I need help on exactly what kit to buy to reconnect the screen cable and instructions on how to do it as I've never taken apart a phone before, although I have dappled with other electronic devices.
Your help would be much appreciated, as I am in Jamaica and there are no technicians here who I trust to help.
Thanks in advance.

Hi all. A while ago (read last November) the screen on my xda exec, aka jasjar mysteriously started acting up.. I've posted a quick video of the issue on you tube.
Link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjV-1WRC714
As you can see putting the screen in landscape, specifically in "laptop mode" causes the screen to lose connection with the device.
Anyone know if this is something I can fix myself with the right tools? What do I need? Screen itself is fine, looks like a cable/connector problem. By the way its out of warranty and second hand... so I'm on me own..
Would a soldering Iron do the trick or do I need a new cable?
Any help/advice appreciated! i was loving my exec until this happened.. replaced it with a symbian phone... and now... well its time to go back to windows!
Cheers again,
wab.

LCD Coax Ribbon has gone. Happens a lot, and it happend to me, they cost about 70.00 GBP but i have seen them cheaper. Replacing them isnt the easiest of tasks, but if you have a steady hand, tiny screwdrivers and patience its possible. No soldering is required. The cable clips are pretty easy to remove and install, its just running it through the channels and the hinge.
Did i mention you need a steady hand??
I Did find this....

Cheers n1ckbarker! Figured as much... actually had that ebay link bookmarked!
Steady hand... umm...
Okey dokey guys, I'm really sorry if this has been posted before, did have a look around but couldn't see anything...
Recently, my screen started to lose alignment quite frequently. Would take about a day before i had to realign. Then it was down to about 2 hours, then pretty much immediately after i'd aligned, it would need redoing.
Reflashed to another ROM yesterday, hoping that would sort it, but no luck. I'm on Laurentius's new ROM.
I'm thinking it's an old unit and probably needs fixing, but though i'd see if anyone else has experienced this, and maybe there's a quick fix?
Thanks in advance for thoughts.
How about the screen protector? Is it new or old? I had an experience once with my Sony TH55/E1 when appying a screen protector, it had the same effect as yours. The screen protector was too thick in my case.
I had exactly the same problem with my XDA2i, I have just had it replaced under insurance for an Exec because of it. The screen became loose after I dropped it and could be moved slightly, causing the misalignments.

So today my Titan started acting up. When I slide the keyboard out the screen freezes. I can still type by nothing will show up on the screen until I close the keyboard.
Also If I hold the keyboard halfway slid out the phone will work normally(but can't type with half the keys), however once I go past a certain point the screen freezes?
Hardware or software issue? I'm debating a reflash.
I can see these thin metal wires inbetween the keyboard and screen when I slide it out, I wonder if it has something do do with these.
Well the reflash didn't work. I took the phone apart and still can't figure out the issue. Seems like it might be with one of the cables connecting to the LCD screen.

I have literally the same EXACT problem. Have you gone to WM 6.5 beta yet by any chance? I started having the problem and numerous others when I went to 6.5. Idk, if you figure it out please tell me. I will be trying to fix the problem too.
Well, I have found the reason why mine wasn't working properly. My flex cable attached to the screen that goes to the actually phone motherboard is ripped. Would anyone happen to have one??? I can't find any on the internet. I have searched everywhere. Please help. Thank you!

I think that is my problem too. The cable looks woren. Poor design.
Hey Guys, Can anyone help ?
I plugged my phone in to charge overnight like normal and when i unplugged it next morning the screen will not respond to taps. There are no cracks or damage to the screen and it hasnt had a bump.
A hard reset gets me as far as the calibration screen but again, cant do it.
Does anyone either have any ideas or can anyone recommend a good repair place in the uk ??
thanks.
Andy

Hi Andy,
If you are familiar with rom flashing you could try it before sending to repair in case it's software related.
Good luck
Arrrrrrggghhh-bloody backlight/touch bricked!
I have the same issue and it's driving me nuts!!
pressing the screen bottom left quite hard puts the backlight back on but it goes off as soon as I take my finger off.
Having done a web search, it appears that this may be a firmware issue, but if so, why, after 9 months of trouble free use, has it only just happened?
I'd be very interested if anyone else has solved this issue. Is there patch or is it a hardware issue?
My otherwise excellent touch is effectively bricked-any help or suggestions at all would be appreciated!
A fix (sort of)
I bit the bullet and ordered a replacement LCD module online and fitted it. It worked, proving that there was indeed an issue with the original. Problem is, the quality of the new one is really bad so DON'T buy a replacement online is my advice. I've now sent my beloved Touch back to HTC to get it fixed...
Hopefully I'll have it back and working soon.
FIXED !
i know this is gonna sound weird but i bought a BENQ_E72 while my touch wasnt working and i kinda forgot about the touch in the meantime. Yesterday i came back to the touch and lo and behold its working perfectly. Screen align is working, taps are going through and i cant see a problem.
Now i have read a thread about the Digitizer filling up with dust and yes my front case does have 2 hairline cracks in it so i am thinking a strip apart, new case and clean and go from there if it does it again. Odd how leaving it to discharge compleely for a couple of months has 'cured' the problem
Just thought i would share this with you
