vx6800 vpn questions - Mogul, XV6800 General

Greetings
Background:
I have a Verizon wireless vx6800 with no data plan. I was unable to find any information on google so i thought i'd come here.
Question:
If i am connected to the wireless network at my company, can i connect to our vpn server without being billed for data usage from Verizon?
I did connect to our vpn network, and the phone had the data connect symbol above the antenna symbol. The phone did not dial the #777 that verizon uses for their data plans, but i just want to make sure before I connect and get a surprise bill..
Any help or comments will be very useful..

If you're connecting to Microsoft Exchange, then you are using data.

I think you misunderstood the question. I'm talking about a vpn connection to a specific pc on our network. Not our exchange server.
You can connect to an exchange server via wireless network. btw

VPN over TMO GPRS/ Connection established but no LAN access

Hello all. I have a siemens sx66 with ROM 1.33.10 running on Tmobile in the NYC area. I have no trouble connecting to GPRS with the unit and accessing the internet. I use the internet3 settings and have been provisioined for VPN through TMO. If I try to connect to my small ofice LAN through GPRS and VPN it seems that I get a connection(desktop shows inbound connection established) but can not view or even ping any of the network resources in either of the two network browsers I have. It seems to me that my trouble is in knowing how to properly configure the connection manager.
As a way to rule out the subscription or network in general, I installed the SIM in a GPRS modem on my laptop and successfully connected and accessed the network resources.
If someone could give me detailed instructions for configuring the connection I would greatly appreciate it. We can start from the point that I have a properly configured GPRS internet connection in the MY ISP section of Connection Manager and nothing more. It will have to be easier than trying to correct anything I had already done with the VPN connection.
Thanks!

Access to DSL provider

Hi, iam able to connect to a WLAN router. That is no problem, but if the access data to the DSL Provider are not stored in the Router itself i have to setup a connection to this provider via the PPC. Does anybody know, what to do in this case?
I have never seen a WLAN router, that can't dial in.
Actually that would make no sense, not only since in Germany you can establish only one PPPoE connection per DSL account, so you could be online with a single device only.
Are you sure, that you have a router or is it a Access Point only?
Anyway I doubt there is any driver for PPC enabling PPPoE.

yes as long as you have activesync you will have the internet sharing setup automatically if you have problems ill help out no problem
Goto -> http://hotspot.t-mobile.com/
Setup your account it is included in your $19.99 package. Most likely you will need to call 611 and they will give you your password that you can change. The User Name is always your 10 digit phone number. After all is configured via that page all you need to do on any wifi enabled device is set you ssid to "tmobile". When you detect a Hotspot network just open up the web broswer on that device and sign in with your 10 digit username and password. That is it.
I think you are slightly confused (main poster). It sounds like you already have the unlimited plan which includes hotspot. So given that, it also says that you know how to share your gprs/edge connection by tethering it with your laptop. So the only point left for confusion is what a hotspot is. Hotspot has nothing to do with gprs/edge. It's a wifi signal at participating locations like kinkos, starbucks, ect... that you simply log in to with your wifi enabled laptop and the 1st screen it will direct you to is the tmobile hotspot webpage. Just enter your tmobile phone number and password that you use to login to the tmobile website that you already use (or should) to just pay your bill online. And then you're in the hotspot... download blissfully and much faster than edge.

VPN calling data number while connected to wifi

I have a 6800 with Verizon and I attend Penn State at the main campus. We have group authenticated VPN security for our on campus wireless. I downloaded BlueFire mobile VPN because it has group authentication capabilities. I connect to the Penn State wireless and then connect with the VPN client, however I notice that my phone calls the 777 number to access the VPN server for some reason, even though I have wireless. I messed around with connection settings, but got no results. My issue with this is that I don't have any data plan because I don't want to pay for it and the data call eats up my minutes.
Does anyone know how to properly set up the connection settings so that I don't pour money into Verizon's pockets?
Also, I don't think this is possible but I might as well ask... is there any way to use the VPN software included with WM to connect to group authenticated VPN servers?
Any clues?
Have you tried turning off data connection?

Problems establishing VPN connection

I can get the EVO itself to connect to the VPN at my office.
What I am having problems with is getting a laptop connected to the EVO (either tethered or WiFi) to be able to establish a VPN connection to the office. OS: Windows 7 Pro. The connection hangs at verifying username and password.
This is important to me as I had been hoping to be able to eliminate the mobile broadband card I'm paying for. I cannot however unless I can get my laptop connected and using the company VPN.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
a point of clarification...
When trying to connect the laptop to the company VPN, the EVO itself is not connected to the VPN (which would be redundant).
