Good news. I found the magic registry hack. With the hack, all that is needed is the original -unmodified- multi-adapter that came with the Touch Pro and a cheap ipod 3.5mm AV cable (i.e., http://www.amazon.com/Macally-Audio-Video-Cable-classic/dp/B000GGQ2ZU).
Simply plug your ipod AV cable into the 3.5mm port on the multi-adapter, plug the adapter in the phone, and set the following registry entry to a value of 1:
\HKLM\Software\HTC\H2W\TVOutCableIn
Immediately after it is modified, the Video Out format selection will pop-up. Select the proper format for your display/TV, and it should immediately show up on the big screen in beautiful color with perfect sound.
When you disconnect the multi-adapter, the value of the registry entry will revert to 0.
-----------------
IMPORTANT NOTE: Apparently, not all 3.5 to RCA AV cable have the same pin-out as iPod compatible cables. You must use iPod compatible AV cables or hope that you get lucky with whatever you've got lying around.
-----------------
Great Work!!
Off the hook!!! This is gonna be sweet! Thanks for the info!
I'll write a quick lil app to do that should be able to finish it by this eve.... if someone else has done it before me welllll good haha but I'll post it up if not!
Thanks

Just downloaded resco. went into \HKLM\Software\HTC\H2W\TVOutCableIn
Typed 1 inplace of 0. Saved the file The tv out screen comes up but does not display anything on the tv.
Tried 2 differnt cables and 2 tvs as well.
What can i be doing wrong?

Not sure what you are doing wrong. I'm using NTSC format for video out and an ipod AV cable. Are you using a camcorder or ipod AV cable set?
Nevermind i figured it out. It was actually a bad set of cables.
video was coming out of the RED cable instead of the white one.....
Great! hack tho.. you just saved me 25$ for the cable...
I'd rather flip it myself than run the utility...yet another forum to register in

It's not a bad cable. It's right for a camcorder but I had the same issue with an ipod too
Just to be certain, is this the cable that is mentioned?
http://www.smartphoneshop.nl/product/57427/52822/3361/htc-multifunction-audio-cable-yc-a300.html
I didn't get this with my MDA Vario.
I think I have one of those cables. I don't think I'll use the VGA out though. I might try it out just for giggles.
Nice finding.

I haven't received my Pro yet, arrives later this week hopefully.
Anyhow, on all the unboxing videos I've seen, I've never spotted them unpacking this adaptor. Here's hoping that it actually does arrive with one.

Anybody know if there is a cable that can give you video-out for the Tilt?
I want to be able to plug it into my 7" screen in my truck and watch videos.
Is that even possible?

Sir, I need to thank you. Excellent little piece of software! Working perfectly on my laptop, and I can't wait to try this on my car stereo and my flat screen. Damn the iPod in the car! I'll use my phone!

tilt doesn't support video out ... therefore no video out cable.
the tilt CAN do video out.
witness the celio redfly.
whats on the screen is a video out.
how do they do that?

i think its a piece of software. The Redfly works as USB Host and installs a cab on your kaiser (reference MyMobile)

Not my friend. I've lost both my GF and my dog to Google. Damn you Google!
maybe its a ***** stealer
there both WHOREZ, google is such a slut. it seems there should be some type of software to get video out. be one hell of a coding job thou.
What about http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=120353015876? It is for the Raphael, but uses the same USB proprietary plug... I know that the TyTN II does not have video out, but is it a hardware limitation, or is it a software implimentation thing?
Additionally, what about http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=280152731909? That would get you to VGA/composite... then I guess you'd run that as video, then run audio out the head phone port... I think it'd be possible that route easiest, albeit not cheapest... and as I look at it, it may only be good for still slides... like maybe it acts as a "printer port" of sorts, and you 'print' the slide to the device... bummer... I thought I was onto something there...
If you read the description of the second link, the requirement says the pda has to have an sd slot. Kaiser would not work with that solution.
Um, isn't the SD slot the thingy that I put my micro SD in? The description states that it is for a MicroSD slot... and by the picture, that sure it what it looks like...
But every thing I read, the SD Slot gets recognised as a printer device, and you 'print' your documents to the port, and the port compiles the 'pages' into slides to output for you as a slideshow...
However, I think the question with the first post stands most important... is it a software difference in the Raphael, or a hardware difference?
Hardware. The chipset in the Kaiser can technically do video out, but the required circuitry is not implemented.

Wonderful reply, thank you. If I happen across the TyTN II I want to find, I will go hacking at it and see if I can do anything with it...
Does anyone know if we have the SDIO port, or if we just have a standard SD port?
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=733&view=1
This lists it as SDIO capable.
If the Redfly and MobileMe can both do video out on the Kaiser, then I'm sure you could get the Kaiser to do video out with the right software.
The trouble is, who is going to write the software? The device has basically been discontinued, and the replacement devices all have video out. So unless you happen to come across an awesoem programmer who just happens to have a Kaiser himself, the chances of it ever happening are pretty slim.
I'm not sure if this technically counts as video out, but there's a freeware application called "mymobiler" that installs a service on your winmo device and then outputs a fully functional display of your device on your computer screen via a USB cable. I used it a few times when I was giving presentations of winmo software I was writing on my Tilt and it works well enough, although it might choke on heavy animation.
Overall not something you could just plug into a video-in somewhere, but it might be a start for those who have PC's etc. running with a touchscreen in their dash.

Great idea,
But if the webcam app needs to have a reciving program on linux/windows, wouldnt also the TV need a program to decode some sort of transfer?

I've been looking for the same type of answer. It looks like "No" based on the reviews of some of the people that have bought this cable. It's unfortunate because this would've been a nice little feature.
Anyone get this working yet? I can't seem to get it going. I bought a standard a/v 3.5mm cord from radio shack. Tried it on multiple tvs but no sound or video comes through. Did I get a bad cord or are there others out there having this same problem?

Yes of course. I even tried both pal and ntsc for every tv I tried it on

My video out was red and my audio out was white and yellow oh well at least it works.
Now I have to get a PS3 to test the video out on the all share wifi system
Seems like the best way to do video out is to use DLNA (run "AllShare") and then playback on a compatible device like a HTPC (windows media player if you have windows 7) or an xbox/ps3 etc. However, it seems that avatar isn't an option for playback through this method either - DRM issues I guess?

I can double check when I get home, but it was just a generic cable that I got for my husbands car which requires the RCA output to be fully plugged in. (cant just do audio, even if it is only audio that I'm trying to play, strange!)
Why do this

hope this helps. i have a few of these av cables (from different cameras and ipods) i noticed that the generic av cables that work with the ipods also work with the vibrant. the ones that work with my video cameras but not the ipods also do not work with the vibrant. (they all similarly have the 3 black stripes on the jack)

At first, i thought it didn't work, until i realized the 3.5mm jack on the Vibrant is a little tight, and I didn't push it all the way in. Works like a charm.
I purchased a AV Audio Video TV Out CA-75U Cable Nokia from ebay hoping that this would give me tv out on my Vibrant. I read in another thread that this cable worked. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I've tried switching the cables, red for yellow ect and everything else mentioned in previous threads. I get audio but it buzzes pretty good and I get video that looks that your watching the old scrambled channels before digital cable came out. Anyone know about this cable specifically or can point me in the direction of a cheap cable that for sure will work for me? Thanks
P.S. I know that avatar won't play through the tv out. I've tested with other movie files and I've made sure the tv out is checked in settings along with NTSC. Thanks

I can tell you that if you plug in the cable without switching around the red and yellow you will short out your AV connection on some TV's. I shorted out mine by trying to match the colors.
Then I read about having to switch the colors and found out that the AV I had plugged it into no longer worked. Thanks Samsung. If they don't show up with a lagless stock Froyo before the freakin Dell Streak does, I am going to send them a bill for a TV.
Just an FYI. I have no idea if the Nokia cable works or not. I original purchased a cable that supposedly work but in the end didn't. I ended picking up a cable that works. Here is the pinout from the base to the tip.
First ring - Video
Second ring - Ground
Third ring - Right Audio
Tip - Left Audio
I ended up rewiring the one that didn't work and now I have 2 working RCA cables. You just have to be careful when rewiring since the cable is extremely thin. The one I originally purchased has the ground and video wires reverse.

Hi! I know there are several kernels that enables usb hosting on our Galaxy S, [I'm using last Semaphore right now], my question here is: Does exist any way to supply energy directly to the usb device from our terminal? I have the proper cable to connect them [atm I don't remember the name of it], so I thought "There is an exchange of energy trought the usb entrance in our phone, so why we couldn't use it not just as input, but as output too?" Let me know it, and thanks in advance
Because you can either have power or data transfer, not both, due too pin arrangement, external power is needed unfortunately
Thanks for answering! But let me understand, when usb mass storage is connected, is there not both transferring of data and power supply? Why would be different with usb hosting?

Yes! Very thanks, let's hope so. At least I've given 5 free euros and not 15 to Amazon xD
When I'll test it, I'll post the result :good:
UPDATE: Apparently, neither the hdmi output cable works on i9000. I looked around, and I discovered the reason why it doesn't work is about mhl drivers. They need to be compile inside the kernel, and no one seems to have done it yet. Ufortunately, 2 on 2 failed. Damn and thanks either :good:
Up! Anyone could implement those drivers in a kernel? I can donate for that too! Come on!
