Tv out issues - Vibrant General

Anyone get this working yet? I can't seem to get it going. I bought a standard a/v 3.5mm cord from radio shack. Tried it on multiple tvs but no sound or video comes through. Did I get a bad cord or are there others out there having this same problem?

You turned on "TV Out" in the Sound and Display Settings, right?

Yes of course. I even tried both pal and ntsc for every tv I tried it on

I had issues at first because I hadnt selected the TV out (oops!) and apparently, you can't play Avatar through it.
... but oh well

My video out was red and my audio out was white and yellow oh well at least it works.
Now I have to get a PS3 to test the video out on the all share wifi system

Seems like the best way to do video out is to use DLNA (run "AllShare") and then playback on a compatible device like a HTPC (windows media player if you have windows 7) or an xbox/ps3 etc. However, it seems that avatar isn't an option for playback through this method either - DRM issues I guess?

LMAO. Yeah i tried the reversed cables too because it wasn't working at first but turns out the cables were correct
I didn't even bother testing the DNLA on the PS3 last night. Was busy fighting with market to get it to work, settings, etc... ha. oops! i'll try that out tonght!

I can double check when I get home, but it was just a generic cable that I got for my husbands car which requires the RCA output to be fully plugged in. (cant just do audio, even if it is only audio that I'm trying to play, strange!)

Why do this

Yes I can send from phone to Win7 over WiFi, while bigger screen not TV out which is what would be way cool...

Fyi ifinally got a chance to look and my cables are Maxwell

hope this helps. i have a few of these av cables (from different cameras and ipods) i noticed that the generic av cables that work with the ipods also work with the vibrant. the ones that work with my video cameras but not the ipods also do not work with the vibrant. (they all similarly have the 3 black stripes on the jack)

Same here.

At first, i thought it didn't work, until i realized the 3.5mm jack on the Vibrant is a little tight, and I didn't push it all the way in. Works like a charm.

Samsung launches official Galaxy S website!

Here the link:
http://galaxys.samsungmobile.com/
You can view the specifications and the user guide.
There the outside of the phone is explained -> no LED flash light.
hehe i love the website and the "video" nicely done!
Has anyone seen a link for a downloadable version of the Manual?
According to the spec sheet on the website, as well as DIVX and XVID the Galaxy will be able to play back h264 files in the MKV container! To the best of my knowledge, this is an absolute first for a mobile phone. As someone who watches a lot of video whilst travelling, this is fantastic news.
this will be definitely my next phone! Even if it has no flash light for the camera, but it's not an important fact for me...
And when that thing gets (hopefully) rooted, I will get rid of TouchWiz UI ;D

I can confirm: this works great! Though the tested file had variable bitrate up to 5 MBit/s and that was a bit too much for the Galaxy S. The video was played back without complaint, but it skipped frames, sometimes less, somtimes more. Still amazing. Another 720p file in an MP4-Container and fixed 1MBit video rate was flawless and stunning to watch.
The sound is also great. This tiny speaker is loud enough and not at all squeaky. Headphones still prefered, of course.

I believe this is what you're looking for?
Hasn't anybody noticed that it will ship with Flash Lite in the browser? I know it's not full Flash 10.1 like with Froyo, but still is better than nothing.
Also, reading the user manual I spotted a really interesting website: samsungdive.com
It seems that you can configure the phone to alert you when the SIM card changes, or locate the phone if you lost it, very similar to the wavesecure app. I don't know if this was available to previous samsung phones, but it seems a pretty cool addition to android, don't you think?
I'm loving even more this phone!
sounds like a pretty cool feature
It just gets better and better.
The manual also reveals that there is a TV out feature. Only PAL/NTSC via headphone jack, but better than nothing. And we still have AllShare.
Wow TV Out, I didn't spot that the first time. It's nice to be able to just plug the cable to the TV, as mine is a bit old and doesn't seem to have DLNA.
Anybody knows if you can output HD video through the headphone jack, or just standard definition?
Like I said, PAL/NTSC, which are the trusty old standard definition TV formats. The quality won't be very good also, because it is a composite signal.
Devices capable of DLNA, like media streaming boxes, are getting ever cheaper, though.
It mentions an 'optional multifunction cable' for TV out.
Erm... it seems we are not reading the same manual there. The only thing multifunctuinal in the manual is the "multifunctional jack", which is just the USB port.

Yes, the multifunction connector is a USB port, I don't deny that.
What I am saying is first on page 88 item 5 it says:-
"Ensure that the TV is on and connect your device to the
TV with a TV out cable".
The later on the following page which is page 89 item 3 of the manual it says:-
"Using an optional PC data cable, connect the multifunction jack on your device to a PC with Windows Media Player installed."
Correct, and the next step on that list is "synchronize music files". Now what have these points in common? Nothing at all.
The TV out function clearly describes the format (PAL/NTSC) and the connector (A/V, which means composite). That is an analogue connection, which is provided on the analogue headphone jack.
Does the galaxy s support x264?
Oh come on! Didn't you even read the tiniest fact sheet?

[Q] TV Out cable help

I purchased a AV Audio Video TV Out CA-75U Cable Nokia from ebay hoping that this would give me tv out on my Vibrant. I read in another thread that this cable worked. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I've tried switching the cables, red for yellow ect and everything else mentioned in previous threads. I get audio but it buzzes pretty good and I get video that looks that your watching the old scrambled channels before digital cable came out. Anyone know about this cable specifically or can point me in the direction of a cheap cable that for sure will work for me? Thanks
P.S. I know that avatar won't play through the tv out. I've tested with other movie files and I've made sure the tv out is checked in settings along with NTSC. Thanks
hmmm... I used the cable that came with my camcorder and it works perfectly.
i bought this one off of ebay and it works perfectly for me

I can tell you that if you plug in the cable without switching around the red and yellow you will short out your AV connection on some TV's. I shorted out mine by trying to match the colors.
Then I read about having to switch the colors and found out that the AV I had plugged it into no longer worked. Thanks Samsung. If they don't show up with a lagless stock Froyo before the freakin Dell Streak does, I am going to send them a bill for a TV.
Just an FYI. I have no idea if the Nokia cable works or not. I original purchased a cable that supposedly work but in the end didn't. I ended picking up a cable that works. Here is the pinout from the base to the tip.
First ring - Video
Second ring - Ground
Third ring - Right Audio
Tip - Left Audio
I ended up rewiring the one that didn't work and now I have 2 working RCA cables. You just have to be careful when rewiring since the cable is extremely thin. The one I originally purchased has the ground and video wires reverse.

[Q] Audio through HDMI?

This could be due to the ROM I'm using (Primee-P9 David's mod), but I tried using Rockplayer Lite to watch a video on my TV through HDMI and there was no Audio. Is there a setting I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

Perhaps there is a setting you are missing (I found rockplayer to be the most problematic player possible for the a500 with the exception of the crappy Acer apps that are preinstalled) - but HDMI carries audio and video only on receivers called HDMI switching or HDMI repeater, from my experience.
Try MX player, and if that fails, try a alternative receiver so we can figure out the source of your problem.

Thanks, I should've tried different apps to see if it was my tablet or the app. It won't be the problem of the receiver, as I'm plugging it straight into a TV :-D. Hoping its not an HDMI cable problem, I just got this cable from monoprice and I don't have another micro HDMI device to check it with. Thanks!

But it might be the problem of the receiver - your TV is acting as a decoder/receiver and depending on what company produced it and what standards it supports......
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI
Don't just assume a bad cable before trying a alternative receiver (TV) - plug it into a friends system with known good HDMI and see if that works.
Best of luck, hope you get it working
Well, I've used this HDMI port many times before and it works fine, which is why I was saying that the cable has a possibility of it being bad, but I'll try it on another TV as well just in case.

Just buy a new Nexus 7 yesterday with Netgear PTV3000, and want to enjoy movie and games in wireless..
But stupid thing happened..my TV doesn't have internal speakers, I used to connect my PS3 to AMP via fiber to get 5.1 sound.

Wow sounds like you need a video converter box that will give you audio seperate from video. You can't use bluetooth speakers. I tried that to get better audio. The only other thing you could try is a speaker plugged into the headphone jack.

Hi Failrunner~
So you've tried to play audio via Bluetooth when connected to Miracast?
I've tried to plug my headset into audio jack but no sound come out...
BTW, thanks your suggest, i will search for some kind of video converter.... Thanks~

Yeah i wanted better sound so I tried using a bluetooth speaker but it didn't work.
Oh btw you have no audio outputs in your tv? Not sure what soneone would be thinking to make a tv with no speakers and hdmi as well.
I have this problem too. I need to play my sound through Bluetooth speakers but Miracast will not allow me to do so. Interestingly, my Sony Xperia Z was an exception. It allowed me to play into Miracast and Bluetooth speakers at the same time, so I am convinced that it is a software implementation issue. Unfortunately, the Sony Z will disconnect me from wifi internet whenever Miracast is working.

SORRY, I spoke too soon... Sony Xperia Z (Android 4.3) does NOT allow the Bluetooth speakers to work together with Miracast either, although it DID work before. Whatever it is, in all summary, Miracast does NOT work with Bluetooth speakers! (or 3.5mm audio headset)
The sound is being sent to the tv as it is supposed to be. You need to pull the audio from there.

I"m just now learning about miracast, could those of you who use it explain it a little?
If I understand it correctly, even if your tv doesn't have any built in ability I can buy a dongle and make it work?
Also, this will allow me to play videos from my tablet SD card to the tv, not just stream vids like chromecast?

I thought Chromecast only let you stream Netflix and YouTube or other online movies. So you're saying the allcast app will work with Chromecast and allow me to watch movies saved on SD card?
Looks like I'm going to try the all cast/ chrome cast route next. I tried a slimport dongle from amazon, saw my screen for a second. Next tried a netgear miracast ptv3000, could only connect for a couple seconds and then lost the connection. Why is something that should be so simple so flipping difficult?

Some miracasts work with some tvs , same with slimport. Kinda a crap shoot . wish I didn't have to get them online and wait for mail to see if they work. Lol. Not many stores have them. Best buy has one sad little google display with n7 2013 n5 and chromecast.. . that's it. Ha
The chromecast/allcast app combo is working perfectly. Setting up the chromecast was easy, way easier than the netgear setup. My n7 connected right away and using the allcast app is very easy. I've been watching video for a solid hour now with no stutters or interruptions. For a total of $40 it's definitely worth it, thank you for the suggestion.

are you able to stream/play other surround sound media? Like a movie through Plex or something, or is it isolated to game streaming?

Yes, netflix, and all other premium streaming sites work as they are suppose to, just when streaming a Steam game through the device and I get no surround but on PC works perfectly . Ideas? Is it working for you?
I haven't used game streaming in ages (since I first got the machine actually - I find it more hassle than it's worth), so I can't remember off the top of my head.
Interesting that you specify Steam though - does it work with other Gamestream enabled games?
No

Finally figured out what was wrong with sound on shield not communicating with my Surround Amp. I had a USB cable plugged in to charge my controllers, and left it plugged in whether charging one or not. When I unplugged the cable from the back of the box, beautiful surround!!!!!!! Don't know why that would affect anything but in my case, it did.. Works great now!
