I never know whether I'm being too picky, but I've just bought an XDA Exec and would like to know whether mine is sub-standard or if other people's XDA Execs are just the same.
Overall, the build quality seems to be pretty good, but I find that the casing "creaks" really annoyingly in a couple of places :
- around the IR port on the front edge (I tend to put my thumb on while opening it, which makes it a bit annoying), and
- on the corner next to the pen slot (which gets pressed when I'm pushing the Exec into the protective case).
Finally, the screen seems to me to be a bit slow re-orienting itself when I switch between PDA and laptop modes.
I know these kind of moans are bit of a boring subject, but I would really appreciate some advice from other owners, so I can either get fussy with O2 or put my mind at rest!
Thanks a million.
Stephen
I am using a Jasjar jus for your info.
There is a very slight noticeable creak with the IR port but nothing near the stylus.
The reason why the switching of orientation is very long is usually attributed to the number of today plugins installed. Also, if there are plenty of programs running in the background taking up a lot of your program memory, slowing down may occur.
I DONT THINK YOU HAVE A DUD.
No creak for me, but it is slow'ish switching from landscape to portrait when there's lots on the Today screen. Cutting down the number of icons should help considerably.
BTW, after atempting to run with the O2 Active install, I opted for the Corporate install and much prefer it.
Hope that helps.
Corporate mode, install GSPMagic+, disable error reporting (settings) and disable beam (also settings) and you should see improved speed on switching. I have a slight creek from the tight hinge of the camshell, which I don't mind.
Hello from down-under ,
I've come to put forward a problem myself and a few others are having over at the Mtekk forums. I currently just purchased an I-Mate JasJam on Telstras' new NextG network and have been using it for about a week and a half. As this fantastic piece of equipment is a little on the expensive side, I wanted to make sure it was kept safe all the time, so I began to use (no matter how silly it made me look ) the I-Mate supplied Pouch, little did I know it did more damage then not using it...
After investigating over the last few days, It was concluded that the magnetic found in the supplied Pouch had some diverse effect on the switching on Landscape to Portrait mode when removing the JasJam from the Pouch to answer/make a call, play a game or send a text message; often resulting in a 'bugged' or 'glitched' screen, stuck between either Landscape or Portrait etc (I fixed by removing the JasJam and sliding out the Keyboard and back in).
After I few days I thought that this couldn't be right for a brand new machine and took my problem to the Internet in which I found others with the same problem. Since then I have stopped using the supplied Pouch and am now looking at purchasing the Krussel Orbit Pouch as a magnetic-less replacement (any users with one, I'd love your feedback). I am making this thread to see if any users of the XDA-Developers board have faced this issue and ask one further question:
1. Since I stopped using the Pouch I can only find one annoying trait left, whenever I switch the Screen back on from 'Standby' mode I seem to receive a small 'glitch' in the Today Screen if the device has been locked, if the device has been left unlocked the Screen can be switched on/off with no issue - does anyone else have this problem, I'm concerned that the magnetic pouch has caused some internal damage...
Thanks,
Elite_Gamer04
Hi, there is a bit more about this problem in the accessories thread, I noticed the magnet causing issues and wondered about internal damage as you did, even possibly causing the align issues, but a few people reported back they had been using the case from day 1 and while it affected the landscape/portrait, they had no align issues or any other problems, so I don't suspect that there is any internal damage occurring..I do wonder about your screen glitch but without actually seein it..I haven't a clue, also do you have a lot of today plugins?..could possibly be one of them is buggy..I'm not sure, but the case does certainly suck, I was immediately concerned with the magnet strength, off topic..but on my device if my thumb is a bit damp or any metal touches the aluminum bezel around the ear piece of the phone..the screen will flicker.
Thanks for your reply Chaotic, My device is in the same state as when it come out of the box, so this isn't a 3rd party issue. I have tried removing/adding the default Today Screen icons to see if it makes an issue to the 'glitching' of my screen when it on/off and it makes no difference, only thing I can see that makes it not happen *sometimes* is when the device is not locked.
Well thats one user without my issue, hoping someone will report it, or I'm going to get a replacement.
*If your testing to see if you have the same issue as me, simply hold your device in your hand (try both with it Locked and Unlocked) and push the top right-hand side button which should switch your screen off, press it again for it to come on. If you see a sort of 'glitch' of white on your Today Screen and then it fixes itself (I'm talkin 1-2 seconds) you have the same as me.*
Hi chaps,
I've used the magnetic pouch from day one with my UK T-Mobile Vario II and am still yet to see the landscape/portrait switching issue when removing the Vario II to answer a call.
I had a theory about this, and it's probably going to get shot down in flames for it's obviousness, but I'll mention it anyway... Could the problem be down to the machine being powered down (manually or automatically) while in Landscape mode... then when switching on automatically when a phone call is received, the phone tries to switch back to portrait mode but gets stuck?
I have road tested this theory on my own Vario II and have not seen the problem at all, but my ROM may handle things differently to yours? Apologies again if this suggestion is obvious.

I assume you are referring to the lock/unlock option found on the Today screen? I also see a short white screen delay when using this Today screen option.
I also see an even longer delay when using the password/pin lock option. Probably something to do with the locking program checking to see if the preset time delay for locking and requesting the password/pin has passed.
Disabling both options makes starting up a lot faster, although you may of course need these options enabled. I'm sure it's something that will be resolved by the manufacturer in time.
elite_gamer04, I hadn't ever used the lock on my device, so I enabled it just to test, and there wasn't any differences, I also wasn't sure of what the actual glitch was, but since you mentioned it I did some further investigating, I do notice a white screen when coming back from standby, but it lasts no longer than half a second..definitely not 2 seconds.
g00nerz, its all good, all info around here is appreciated, but there is definitely an issue with the case magnet, I don't have a single landscape/portrait issue unless I put it in the bundle case..I use a modded aluminum case at the moment..but if I switch back it happens, I'm pretty sure the words "bundle case" are in the title of the post with others with this issue if you want to check it out.
I have read where some people were discussing that they thought some had different screens..that could be why you haven't had this issue or maybe it is ROM related, but from what I understand its been a variety of brands with this issue...now that I think about it..I wonder if all the brands bundle cases are the same?
I think its Mike(I hope I got that right) that has tore one of these apart..few posts about it with pics on the forum he might know, but anyhow I wonder if theres actually a hardware switch that triggers the switch from portrait/landscape when the slide out kb is opened, and the magnet is affecting that..could also be it was revised on some models.
I'm just speculating/guessin on what might be causing it, I really haven't any solid info other than some people definitely have an issue with the case, including me.
I also see a short white screen delay when using this Today screen option

I <3 you hehe. Thank god its not just me . Yes I was referring to the 'Device Lock' and 'Device Unlock' function on the Today Screen. When it is Unlocked and I switch on/off the screen I see no 'lag' or 'white glitch' but with it on I see a small 1-2 sec lag. Anyways as you have confirmed it also I don't have to worry about returning mine and will get on with my new Krussel case I'm about to order.
Thanks
P.S If others are having this issue, or know of how to fix, don't hesitate to post.
Please consider that the use of wifi may drasticely slow down the device's power up. I do use the default case with the strong magnet, and when I power up my device with the wifi enabled it takes a while until he completely awake; the wifi plus the switch landscape => portrait (thanks HTC case) slow it down.
I am also experiencing the "auto answer" issue; from time to time when I put my device off its case it answer to the incoming phone call, but till now I was not sure that the case could be involved; are you sure about this? I tried to give some testing but I was not able to reproduce it; it only happen when it is not expected to happen

Hi elite_gamer04, As you had rightly mentioned this is really a fantastic device and no doubt about it.....like you I had the same problem when I bought it around 2 months back.
I was breaking my head as to why its happening, it looked for me as if the device hangs on and off...but did not notice keenly the instances when it happened as removing it out of the pouch was too normal a thing that did not hint me that it has something to do with the issue...But I was totally broken and disturbed and decided somehow I am going to get a replacement. I took it to the service centre and the guy there (very smart) as soon as I mentioned about the problem ( I went there thinking that it has something to do with the sliding mechanism) responded spontaneously taking the pouch opened the flap and took the magnet side over the screen and showed it to me....wow yes...its the pouch which was the culprit as we noticed the screen going crazy....Anyway I was relaxed but from that instance I kept aside the pouch that came with the pack and I am currently using a different one from the stores. Till now I have noticed no glitches and am happy I own a real amazing fast device.
About the other glitch you mentioned when the phone is locked yes I tried and it is there even for me but I dont think its a major issue for you to replace the device as its something to do with the screen refresh rate and memory which am sure would be fixed by new ROM upgrades in the days to come...but relax rest assured you own a fantastic device.
All the best
Thanks for posting this about the screen - I thought I was going nuts. I bought a replacement pouch that has a belt loop - so slightly more secure than the clip. But when i started using it - it always switches to landscape mode.
I'll have to find one without a magnet i guess!
Sometimes, I'll place the handset down on a table or whatever, and completely of it's own accord, the screen will scroll right to the second page. Then a couple seconds later, it'll scroll right again to the third, and fourth. I'll pick it up and swipe back to the home screen and put it back down, and it'll do the same thing again. Basically.... wtf?
Sometimes it does it in menus aswell, scrolling down lists one by one every few seconds when the thing isn't even in my hands.
Has anyone else experienced this? I've had a couple of replacement handsets and it's done it on all of them!

It has happened to mine, intermittently. I was hoping that it was just a little piece of grit under the trackball and that it would stop, but now you've got me worried that it is a common fault. Mine is an unlocked white in the UK, bought from Devicewire and delivered around 10 days ago...
Yup, I can comfirm it has happened to me with 3 white sim free Heros. It can happen when the device is completely undisturbed so i'm assuming it's some weird software glitch.
I can't even identify what causes it, to recreate the conditions. Seems totally random.

Hopefully a (rapid) firmware upgrade will sort it...
Could it be something on the touch screen?
I think I have seen this too! Do we all have screen protectors on? I do on my Hero....
It seems to me like the people widget caused me some issues. I have removed it and the device is faster and this bug hasn't appeared for me at all since.

Screen protector, yes. And the People widget (which I find very useful!)
Speaking about really weird things going on with the Hero. I can contribute with some funky stuff too:
When having my Hero near/under my mousecable the mousepointer (on the monitor) gets its own life. It starts moving randomly and begins to scroll the pages up and down in my browser WITHOUT me touching anything. I do have a cable connected mouse (USB). The phone has wifi, GPS and Network activated. I have not yet tested what happens with those turned off though.
Haha this is getting interesting. I noticed some mousepointer jitter when I was using the PC at work today, with my Hero nearby. I'll investigate more today.
Mine doesn't have a screen protector, but I do use the people widget on my second page. I'll remove it and see if it makes a difference to the spontaneous scrolling.
I just got my white unlocked hero 3 days ago and I just noticed this problem for the first time. The home screen would move over 1 or 2 screens without me even doing anything. Im wondering if it was major lag from previous movements I made. Im sure this is a software bug, does anyone know if HTC releases software updates for their android devices? I just switched from an iphone and hope they would release updates and fixes like apple did when something was wrong with a software release.
This phone is what... a week since launch day? We are early adopters and will find bugs. There'll be an update soon I'm pretty sure.
I think there is some interference with Wifi/Other radio and the Hero screen.
When i put mine on my desk next to my PC i cannot press all buttons on the touch screen but the wheel and hardware keys still work. When i move it 1m away from my PC this behavior is gone.
This problem happened to me when I had wet hands. All I did was wipe the hero dry and it worked fine again.

This is due to the phones aggressively high SAR value (it's really really high). I would think twice before putting this phone in your pant pockets if you ever want to have chidren

Wow, really? I already have 2 so going to keep this in my pocket from now on!!!
Aaaaaaaand HTC didn't bother fixing this in the new rom. The T9 keyboard input bug and huge lag are also unchanged.
I can confirm that this odd bug still lurks around in the official 2.73.405.5 build.
It has been suggested that it migh be due to dirt inside the trackbal housing but then why would the homescreen suddenly scroll on its own without being touched? Maybe a sensor glitch? I don't know what solution HTC are using to read the movements of the trackball though... one thing is for sure; it's not a good one....
I'm 100% sure now it's not a hardware issue. It's happened on multiple Heros I've used, not long out the box either. The only thing I've noticed that indicates any kind of pattern to the apparent randomness is that it gets a lot worse when there's a lot of mobile data transfer going on. One time I physically couldn't get it to stay on the homescreen long enough to click an icon.
Just pitching in, exact same problem here. Very strange that everyone gets it to the right :/
Just notice on mine too, some automovement in menu and home
Upgraded yesterday to new firmware (modaco)
Could be an increase of trackball sensibili? I see a settings to tweak it on blackberry device...on android?
Wow! It is fast....
I know others have said this but I must reinforce that. I have been running WM6.5 on my (old!) HD for a while and with the new manilla 2.5 (sense) UI it is clearly struggling a bit. I am sure that Dutty and co will improve on that but the HD2 is clearly much more able to handle this impressive UI.
Just got mine from T-Mobile UK so here is my initial feedback to those still drooling over the videos and pictures:
Appearance - Looks great, actually feels slimer than the HD - I know it is but you will see what I mean when you handle one. The curved back (like i-phone) makes it even slimmer at the edges than the 11mm measurement would make you think. The screen looks great - you can see the dots across the screen in certain light reflections (directly across the screen) but I have not noticed any at all in use - just with bright light at shallow angle across the screen. The screen is noticeably bigger than the HD, same brightness. The screen edges are also (as reported) closer to the edge which adds to the impact of screen real-estate on offer.
Only adverse comment on design is the sharpness of the edges to the camera lens surround - the lens edging is sharp enough to damage furniture so beware. HTC need to fix this one. It is minor on the scale of things but completely at odds with the rest of the device which oozes quality.
Branding. T-mobile have put their mark on the phone - nothing externally but the boot-up and shut down splash have T-mobile branding. There is a T-mobile (Web & Walk) spalsh screen that pops up when you start Opera (otherwise completely standard) and there is a T-Mobile IM tool that has failed to work so far.
Unboxing - my box (standard green HTC box just like the videos) had no pouch (leather case). I called T-Mobile and they will be sending one but according to their list they have no mention of either the pouch (that is what HTC call it) or the (miserly) 2Gb miro SD card. There is no (micro) CD like you see in some videos and apart from standard HTC stuff there is a T-Mobile folded sheet about something - was far too busy plying with my new toy to read the paperwork...
Software - all the usual stuff is there. Notes is in 'Outlook' and there is no Co-pilot software to test for 15 days (unless its on the micro SD card (not checked), just ordered and downloaded Co-pilot 8 because it looks great on the HD2.
Camera - the pictures are great and it takes photos immediately - it really has no lag at all on almost anything. The flash is actually quite bright.
Performance - did I say it was fast? Vista sync with PC was faultless, everything just happens immediately - this is also enhanced because apps are never actually closed. There is, as reported, no HTC 'X' task manager to close apps so they are just minimised. So when you start them up again in fact all you are doing is lttbbing back to the app that may already be open. The result is near instant response and when you select, for instnce, Google Map, it is not only already loaded but has maps present too (albeit the last maps). Opera is much faster than on the HD. IE is still very poor by comparison (BTW - Opera is called 'Web & Walk' in the start menu on this T-Mobile phone). The "My location" function just works - on GPRS, HSDPA, WiFi ann PC sync. Weather looks really neat!
Initial Software Loading and trials - just had to hard reset! I installed Monocube Safemode and could not then start-up the handset in other than safe mode!!! Not impressed - wonder if that is something to do with the capacitive screen.
Resco Explorer 2008 - great
Coreplayer - installed OK but noticed that 700Mb DivX film had audio sync problem. This film and this coreplayer version on HD seemd to have no problem.
more to come when I have re-loaded the software and re-synced - don't use Monocube Safe Mode.
I cannot rule out something else having cause the need to hard-reset but it only occured after my first power-up after installing the sotfware. I will report this to Monocude (who make it) and report back if I get anything.
Love the phone - very happy.
This is my first HTC and to be frank, I LOVE IT. Maybe because it replaced my SEX1?
Playing music is a delight, the speaker is amazing. Had to reduce the sound to 50% as it was too loud.
Picture taking, could be better, but as I'm used to SEX1, I can say its impressive.
Fast? Fast? It's lightning fast. This device changed my opinion towards WM. I was appalled, but now I'm extremely happy.
Only one annoying thing, when there is no data connection I get this pop up every time I turn on the phone, which is quite annoying.
Overall, I give it a 8/10. It could very easily be improved with ROM updates.
But why did they make sms notification so small?
I got mine yesterday. (Donated by a certain someone, you know who you are . )
Gotta say it truly is one of THE most amazing pieces of mobile tech I've seen in all my years as a technician. For the 1st time I can finally say winmo users finally have something that knocks the socks of the (in my opinion) now defunct iPhone and indeed any others available to date The speed of everything on this is just amazing, never did I think winmo could achieve this. Of course HTC did an amazing job covering over winmo you really never see it for anything.
I've been reading reviews online and in papers (ya I know, paper, im so old-fashioned sometimes lol ) and all the reviews say the HD2 still couldn't beat the iPhone etc so I was holding off buying it. But don't listen to the reviewers they're just too critical, this phone really is the biz, go get it.
Also, as this phone has no Hardware Keyboard it can be a bit tricky at first. I used to refuse to own a phone without a physical one but replacing the default HTC softKB with Fingerboard and everything is perfect Some minor tweaks and videos, battery etc are all working above and beyond any media smartphone I've used (and Ive even used the iphone for 5 weeks).
Anyways enough of my wild ravings about the phone. If anyone wants to know anything about the HD2 gimme a shout, happy to answer anyone
Just got mine today from.... Vodafone!!! Can you believe for once they've got it out with everyone else????
It's every bit as good as I'd hoped (not surprising as I'm stepping up from an early Tytn).
As tony wheeler found though, you can be too clever.... I originally had an XDA 2 with TomTom Nav 5, forced my Tytn to load it years ago and long before TomTom supported it (in fact I'm not sure they ever did). Tried to force it on the HD2 and all I got was a corrupt screen and it froze. Only needed a soft reset to get it going again, but a bottled out at that point.
I noticed that my favourite game (Bubblet) is missing (I'm a simple soul) and so far I cn't get .tsk skins to load properly, but hey - it's only day one.... plenty of time yet.
Update: sorted Bubble using hints and tips at the top of this forum, thanks TB!! Also, got my skin working by pasting it into the windows folder. It then appears in the advanced Today edit screen.

Eh, not really.
Ive already got 113 messages (+25 on my SIM) on mine and not noticed any slow down or lagg. Also have loads of emails and no slow down on the email tab either.
Mine arrives tomorrow via DHL, looking forward to it.
Moving back to WM from iPhone, been playing with iPhone for the last six months. I have always been a WM believer, but I always look and test the competition in the real world. Then I have a opinion based on first hand experience.
While the iPhone has many nice features, when it comes to business it isn't as flexible or useful as a WM device.
That's not to say WM doesn't have issues, it does. That's for another thread though.
iphone switch
I will be interested to hear your honest opinion of the HD2 compared with iphone.
The IP screen and nav functions are very fluid, but I think the HD2 is equal or better.
The HTC Shell makes a huge difference.
Without it I would have bought an iphone myself, and that is saying something!

Hi folks.....,
Anyhow, I have several questions for y'all about the phone. I was wondering, can anything be done about the pink hue in camera shots? I've noticed that in some pictures, it's not so evident, but in others, it's clear as day. Is there a trick to this? I know that changing phones don't really work as it seems to be something to do with the tech of the camera itself + the housing of the lens or something.
Also, since this is my first time using WM 6.5, is it normal for the Start menu, to segment in terms of scrolling? Like, instead of a smooth drop all the way to the bottom, it goes in "pages" almost, if this makes any sense. Also, is there a trick to using capacitive screens? Whenever I try to use my fingertip to scroll, sometimes it registers, sometimes it half-registers. Is angle an issue here? Do you get better with this over time?
I'm running stock ROM right now, with a yellow-reset button if that matters, with 2.13. Having said that, what are some of the common things I can check for in terms of manufacturer's defects, etc? I want to try avoiding flashing until I've checked for these common issues first to save me the hassle of flashing back again, etc.
Thanks everyone! But boy...the phone is snappy.

I can't answer your question about the pink hue. I haven't noticed it in my pictures, yet.
Yes, the page scrolling in the start menu screen is by design. It's so you don't go way farther down than you wanted to. I think it's retarded.
The touch issues you are describing could be for two different reasons.
1st, I hope you aren't using your fingernail? A capacitive screen requires skin contact.
2nd, the 2.13 ROM has serious touch sensitivity issues. There is a sticky in the "T-Mobile USA HD2 General" forum up top that gives you a .cab to install that fixes the registry for much more responsive touch scrolling.
Since you posted this in that same forum, I'm sure you will see it up there!
Thanks for the reply. I actually tried the cab above by zim or something, and it made my touch scrolling so much worse in SPB Mobile Shell. So I don't know what's going on.
Anyhow, I spoke with a T-Mobile rep, and we went through the usual rigmarole, and he told me since I can't get rid of the pink hue, I should just go back and get an exchange. Anyone think I should do this? Or are all units likely to have this problem? How many HD2 users here do not have this problem for the T-Mobile HD2 version?
A good number of the units have the "pink hue" problem. You can see several videos people have made on YouTube about this.
I have a bit of it as well.
My contention...live with it because it seems as though you have about a 50/50 chance of getting another unit with the same problem.

Is it normal to see the pink hue even through the screen though? Like, you start up the camera, even just at looking at the screen, I can see the pinkness in the center already. Is this normal?
That's my worry too. Everything else with the phone works so far. No dead pixels, no manufacturer's defects in the physical case....my worry is that by exchanging, I'm increasing the risk of obtaining one of these other problems.
Edit: Also, I have to mention that the pink hue is without flash.

Mine...on occasion it does have the pink tint but when I take the picture it is not there. People said to try to take a picture of a blank piece of white paper and see what it looks like. I tried with my phone and it looked white and my friend tried it with his iphone 3gs and it was fine as well. I read somewhere about it being an issue with a number of cameras not only the HD2. That being said a lot of people have including myself have taken really good pictures without a hint of pink?!?!

Flash, no flash?
Indoors or outdoors?
White balance set to auto?
Brightness settings?
whenever I try to use my fingertip to scroll, sometimes it registers, sometimes it half-registers.

don't use your finger tip, use the pad. the conductance of the tip is lower than the pad. my left index finger simply won't work at all!

Yeah, I figured as much now. I realize when I use the pad of my thumb and scroll, it's so orgasmic and makes me jizz in my pants. And to see the scrolling without the icons being rendered as you go is.....just ....how it was supposed to be.
Funny enough though, I can't seem to hit the corners as easily. This is apparently evident when for example, you're in the Phone settings, and you have the two arrow keys on the bottom right. It's almost impossible for me to use my right thumb without hitting 10 times while my left-thumb needs about 2 ~ 3 tries. The screen seems to register the touch at the center of my thumb-pad, so to speak. Is this normal? Or does it just register the area of the thumb that gives off the most "signal", so to speak?

Thanks for the reply. I actually tried the cab above by zim or something, and it made my touch scrolling so much worse in SPB Mobile Shell. So I don't know what's going on.
Anyhow, I spoke with a T-Mobile rep, and we went through the usual rigmarole, and he told me since I can't get rid of the pink hue, I should just go back and get an exchange. Anyone think I should do this? Or are all units likely to have this problem? How many HD2 users here do not have this problem for the T-Mobile HD2 version?

The pink spot was addressed by an HTC-issued patch for the euro Leo, which is still available on the HTC support/updates site for that model. But, the patch states that it's for builds prior to the ones used in the Tmo models, so I don't know that it will make a difference, but you're welcome to try it. I think the same tweak is available in all the HD2 tweaks listed in the sticky on the main page...in the list of all the "touch-x" cabs smaberg posted, there's one there for the "camera fix", I believe that's the same thing.
I haven't noticed the pink spot on my HD2 at all, and I did a test or two with a white paper...but I honestly don't remember what lighting I used. If I were you, I'd just test it several ways (indoors/outdoors/flash/no flash) and compare the results.

It's much more prevalent in indoor shots without flash. For outdoor shots, it's hard to notice it, but the farther you go away from the picture, the more noticeable the pink blur is. The radius of the pinkness get larger as the darker the ambient surround gets, at least for me.
Im still debating whether it is worth the hassle to argue for a brand new one, knowing that the reps might be reluctant to shell out a brand new HD2 over what they'd probably deem as a "minor" discoloration or something.
i noticed the pink hue on my hd it started after i had the screen replaced and then added copilot i beleive its from where the video driver has an issuse and it maybe to where u hav to get the device replaced dude if u hav a custom rom try task 29 and then add a new different rom so that the rom is fresh on the device now so far on my hd2 i see no pink hue but i hav one of the first genration of tmous-hd2 i ordered it the first day,,, hope info helped

Hmm, but I've read online it's more to do with the low-quality of the camera parts and nothing to do with software really. Seems like a hit or miss really. Still fidgeting at this point whether to get it replaced or not since everything else works perfectly.
Anyhow, running SPB Mobile Shell on this monster results in 0 lags/freezes.

Yeah, my understanding is that the root of that issue is hardware based...the fix that was released was just an attempt to improve the way the software tries to compensate for that. But yes the only way to 100% eliminate it is to use higher-quality (and therefore bulkier) hardware components, at least from the references I've read on the topic.

What would you do Phunkee? Live with it or try your luck for a new phone?
Also, does anyone know if enabling Wireless N increases your drain when using Wi-Fi? And if you'll see a speed increase on Wireless G networks? And does enabling Wireless N count as "voiding" the phone's warranty?

If it's noticibile enough in your own pictures that it bothers you, I'd only try for a replacement phone if they can guarantee you a new one instead of a refurb (might want to take it into a store). I still can't seem to recreate the issue for sure, at least in any pictures where coloring isn't already kooky overall because of lighting irregularities.
Keep in mind too that it looks like new/replacement units are now being shipped with the 2.13 ROM from the factory, so also decide if that matters to you or not.
EDIT: I don't know about the wifi-N drain or performance improvements...I have it enabled on mine but my work and home networks are still G-only. I'm 99.8% sure though that it does NOT void your warranty to enable that.
1. There is a CAB file for the pink spots, have you tried it on your model?
2. Wireless "N" seemed to drain my power more also. And no it will not void your warranty because after a hard reset it will turn the registry tweak off. Hard Reset brings everyting back to stock except for your call timers. (unless you HPSL'd your phone).
Thanks for the suggestions so far guys. Right now, I've noticed that outdoor shots, it's hardly noticeable on the computer, so I think I'm likely to just stick with this phone. Everything runs great after all.
Anyhow, I wanted to ask, how do you guys use your screens? Do you use the base of your thumb? I can't for the life of me get scrolling to work when I use the tip of my forefinger. Not my nail, just even towards the tip, it's choppy. I test it out on the Notes program and I try to do a flick and I can understand why. Instead of a single vertical line being drawn, it's being split into 3 ~ 4 smaller lines, as though the screen is not able to register the touch continuously. Is this something to do with my personal body charge and how my finger is shaped? I only ask because I've used an iPod Touch before and I was able to scroll just fine with my finger tip. Is there anyway to improve the sensitivity even further?

There has been some sensitivity issues with 2.13; not saying that's it but a good place to start looking. There are also some registry tweaks for the flicking of your finger (how far it flips up/down). I don't have the exact link, but a quick search will get you in the right place. I personally use the end of my index fingers, thumbs, whatever finger is closest to the key I'm looking for.

But boy...the phone is snappy.

by pages I wonder if you are describing lagging. Lagging should not be normal. I suggest you notate how much free ram you have and how your program screen behaves (smooth or laggy)by going to >start menu>settings>system memory. After, run clean ram and repeat the above mentioned steps. You should have more memory and a smoother user interface.
