I have insurance on my mogul and a few bright spots appeared on the screen so I called to get it fixed/replaced and they are sending me a new touch pro, which is nice... but before sending in my mogul should I put the stock rom back on it? I am now running dcd 3.3.4.

FWIW i got a replacement mogul through asurion about 6 months ago, i didn't bother clearing the custom ROM and nothing ever became of it. when i had looked at insurance TOS, i didnt see anything referencing custom ROMs voiding anything

The mogul has been out for almost a year prior to Verizon's 6800 being released so I am sure that there are plenty of VZW Pros around...sorry about that...maybe in 6 more months or longer will you hope to see this happen...

renew contract? of course not. I have insurance on my phone, 7 bucks a month.. lose, break or gets stolen etc you get a new one.. since they did not have any moguls available for replacement they sent me a touch pro.

Was browsing around phones just before, did any of you realize that the Titan/Mogul has been discontinued from Sprint and Alltell? The only carrier still offering it is Verizon.
yea its been off the sprint site for some time now. Alot more people are getting TP's instead of replacement moguls if something were wrong with theirs and they brought it in. Makes me want to try lol.

If I get another Windows Mobile device it will have WM7. My next discount (NE2) ends this December. Either way I am loving my Titan (Verizon XV6800) and don't want to give it up for any current phone. Nice to see Verizon still has it but they also got it later then everyone else. Also since I am with Verizon, they (as well all know) capped the TP. But if something does happen to my phone then I would go for the TP.
that brings up an interesting thought. What happens if you have to replace your titan using your insurance? They have to supply you a replacement phone since it is part of the policy. Does that mean they would have to give you the Titan Pro?

Just because they are discontinued doesn't mean that they aren't carried.
My old XV6700 was discontinued for a LONG time and yet every time I went to exchange it for insurance, I got another 6700.
Odds are they will have more to exchange. I got upgraded by going in and saying that the 6700 was a POS (It's not) and I wanted an upgrade or I would cancel. I had a 6800 on the way in all of 15 minutes.
I would be happy to be wrong though. I really want a touch pro

Rumor is USCC is getting the HTC Touch Pro in March. It is already on their rebate slips.
thatd be good except i just signed like 3 months ago. but i do got insurance, and uscc seems to replace phones fairly often.
i know when i had my tmo mda they replaced it with the wing. about 3 months after they replaced it i broke my mini usb port broke and the insurance replaced it with a wing

The Titan has better battery life. If you're a power user you could barely squeak by on a single battery with the Titan. With the Touch Pro, you'll need to carry a spare or purchase the extended battery kit.

This is have nothing to do with having a warranty. If the device is defective sprint will replace the device. However there are no Moguls left in stock. So TPs are the replacement. This will not last for long. Soon Customers will only be getting 150 off toward the cost of a replacement device. This is the same process that happened after the Mogul came out replacing the PPC6700
I'm getting tired of getting refurbished phones from Verizon and my current phone is acting up so I figured I would give Asurion a shot and try and get a TP. When I called they told me the deductible would be 50 and I would be getting a replacement Titan. So I was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting a TP from Asurion. I really would hate to pay 50 dollars for a refurb when I could save my money and just buy a Sprint TP. Does anyone have any recent success stories or maybe things to tell Asurion so they will change your phone to a TP.
Just a note getting a Sprint TP on Verizon is very very very hard now. Keep getting refurbish ones. Maybe complain that the quality of the refurbished ones sucks and see that they can do for you. Assurion will give out TP sometimes but only if they are out of moguls.
Just a heads up, I tried that route after getting 2 refurbs with problems with verizon. They finally sent me a brand new, in-box, xv6800 with no issues. They still have new 6800s instock, so good luck with getting the TP.
I just called them the other day to try and get a TP for my Titan from Asurion - no dice.
It took forever to get to the verification step because I'm Alltel (well, was Alltel until vzw bought them) and they weren't recognizing what Alltel calls the Titan (HTC PPC6800) as a valid option. Finally figured out that now that I'm verizon it's called the audiovox xv6800 or something like that and they could proceed. But to my dismay they claimed they still have lots of 6800's in stock and would just send one of those. I even tried to be sleazy and was like "Oh really? When I called Verizon they said that they don't support the 6800 anymore and are only issuing 6850's". Needless to say that didn't work. Since I'm up for upgrade in a few months I guess I'll just wait till then - just figured that it'd be awesome if I could get a TP for the deductable cost AND not have to renew a contract with vzw.
I've read on some other forums that if you can do the claim on Asurion's website that sometimes it will let you pick the 6850 as the replacement phone. Unfortunately, and for some unknown reason, whenever I try to initiate a claim on their site it says "you must call customer support to proceed". I asked them about that and they said they don't have control over it and can't do anything about it. I was not amused.
i got a NIB palm 800w for my mogul..they would not go touch pro for me....ive since canned the palm and went to another mogul...they said the wait time for a mogul was six weeks!!!!

I just started wondering because I had to order a warranty exchange. I will have my wing for a year on Sep 13, so I can still get warranty exchanges until then, or 90 days after I get my new device. I've heard of people getting wings like this when the MDA bit the dust. I wonder how long until the back up stores of wings deplete..

LOL. That would be pretty freakin amazing, to get a whole new Touch Pro 2 in the mail...but...I think your chances are silm.
I'd recommend just buying the TP2 from Walmart or somewhere, they only cost about $200 (only, right, lol). But that's $150 less than T-Mobile.
Does anyone know what they replace the wing with in the Multiple Exchange Program? This will be my second exchange, but if I do it again with my new one, I wonder which phone they'd offer.

I meant more like keep replacing it until they are out of stock. That would be awesome if Fedex came friday with a TP2, but I dont have my hopes up.

Ye, I would have liked to get TP2 as a replacement, but no dice. Still the contract on the line is over and the front buttons stopped working, so I thought I get it exchanged. Good luck to those getting replacements, maybe you will get lucky. The reps are nice there though, and seem to know their smartphones, although I didn't get anyone who used windows mobile.
Oh really? Where would I go to ask for a TP2 in Wal-Mart? Go to the Electronics and ask if they have any TP2's in stock? Then just buy it like that? Can I buy the replacement warranty through them and it would work with T-Mobile?

Well I bought mine through T-Mobile, but I'm gonna bet, 99%, that you can buy an extended warranty that is either THE T-Mobile warranty, or a similar thing. Ask the unhelpful WalMart people about it, LOL.
Also, Wirefly.com has it for $200, upgrade price. I think WalMart is $250 or something. Both good deals. I hope you find something that works! The touchscreen of my Verizon Titan decided not to work anymore (it does weird things and sometimes it doesn't work at all for minutes).
I tried to reinstall the ROM but same result... I cannot even calibrate the screen.
I can use the insurance to have it replaced, paying $50 deductible, or get a new one for the same amount renewing my contract.
I can get a Touch Pro, a Touch Pro Diamond, an Ozone or a Vogue(XV6900).

No listen dude. If you have TEC which insurance plus extended warranty then any non physical damage is covered free through Verizon(I think it is the 5.99 insurance). An insurance claim is only needed if you physically break the phone or have it stolen or get it wet. Overwise all warranty or phone dieing issues are covered under the extended warranty and Verizon will replace it free. A cracked screen that causes touchscreen failure will be an insurance claim but if the touch screen just dies then it is free free free with the TEC insurance option.
I really don't know why people think they have to pay to get a phone replaced when it is free 75% of the time with the extended warranty.

I have very similar insurance, when my PPC6800 took a crap. They actually upgraded me to a Diamond Touch because they didn't have any more Titans...all for free. Insurance can be a beautiful thing....sometimes.
I agree. With insurance, Verizon should just give you a replacement without a deductible. You can even do it over the phone. They'll ship it to you overnight, and you don't have to go to a store and have someone eyeball it.
I just received a replacement for my xv6800. Unfortunately, it was another xv6800, but it works fine.

BTW the new touch pro 2 is coming out on the 11th...
after a wrong shipment (they sent me an horrible smartphone) I finally got a new Titan.
flashed bootloader, radio and a WM 6.5 ROM (RM light).
my GPS is not working anymore. I searched the forum and read that it might be a PRI with locked GPS.
is there a way to change the PRI without downgrading to an old stock ROM (which one) and then reflash?
I can confirm that flashing back to Verizion Stock 2.09 and then back to the custom ROM (WM 6.5 RM light 2.1) fixed the GPS problem.
not sure why since the PRI is the same of my previous installation of the WM 6.5 ROM (PRI 2.03_002)...
The pri got changed by the custom rom. The problem lies when the PRi is changed by MR1/2. This change blocks gps which is what is on all refurbish xv6800.

so just to recap -as a lesson learnt. When you get a refurbished XV6800 it has MR1/2 with locked GPS in the PRI. if you flash a custom ROM the PRI doesn't overwrite the GPS settings so you need to flash back to a pre-GPS ROM (2.09) and then flash to the custom ROM.

So today I realized I needed the dust under my screen cleaned and the speaker fixed and and the worn buttons replaced. When I went in my phone was running fresh 2.0d with rosie, and some of my own tweaks (theme). Even though it voided my warranty they still replaced the screen and buttons. I am still trying to see if they fixed the speaker too (earpiece) but I wasn't able to boot because they busted my 8gb sd card... I was pissed so I took it back but the rep there said they couldn't replace it because I bought it as BestBuy. But I then talked to the repair guy and he said he would replace it, which he did.
Anyways, I guess the point here is that sprint doesn't care if you are rooted, hacked, tweaked or retarted. They still will repair your phone! This was at sprint in Emeryville (CA) btw.
Also, I have one question; I was a new Sprint customer when I bought my hero, and online, it says I am eligible for an upgrade. It has said this since the day I got my phone... Is this normal?

It depends on the store. If they actually take a look at your phone and the tech's feeling grumpy, he'll tell you you're screwed. It's usually safer to just take it back to stock before turning it in for repair work.
Also, if you had an 8gb SD card make sure the one they replaced it with is the same class. If you had a class 6 card, you might be using a class 4 now.
Technically I don't think you're supposed to be eligible for an upgrade as soon as you start your account, but who knows? It might be some new marketing thing Sprint has come up with. I've been with Sprint for 12 years now, so I miss out on the new stuff.

yeah I had a class 2 and got a class 2 lol I was hoping they might give me a class 4 or 6.. haha
I bought a class 10 16gb a few months ago, but even though it was "SDHC" not "SDXS" or whatever it's called, it was still classified as "SD 3.0". the hero only has support for 2.0... I am hoping that the EVO supprts 3.0 because that card cost me $100. stupid I know.

yeah dust is a known issue we will clean it out for free unless you are annoying about it...there are some people that are like SUCH A DUMB PHONE LETS DUST GET UNDER THE SCREEN...and they are really picky about like 3 specs of dust at the bottom of the screen...its not something we have to do, its cosmetic so just be nice to the repair guys.

Did you buy your Hero at Best Buy? I got mine at Best Buy and have always had the $150 discount available on the Sprint website. My wife got hers at a Sprint store and doesn't have the discounted upgrade option.

I got mine as Best Buy and it did indeed use my upgrade price, which removed it from the site.
wish i had your tech, my mini usb port charges sometimes and ive totally lost audio through it. ive gone 3 different times hoping to get a different tech or person helping me and everytime i have gone they tell me A. it has a headphone jack, you dont need audio from your ExtUSB and B. it shows it charges now, so it works. They recommended I borrow a phone from a friend until i can afford to buy a new one...
Im cancelling my contract and going back to ATT, its not worth it to save money on my bill if I have to constantly dish out money for new phones.
i wouldnt do that.. come on. you ave the evo coming out in a couple months.
