Hi all,
Im having problems trying to install garmin on my X1
I install the program (GarminMobileXTforSymbianS60_41020.exe) from my PC and then select the remote disk (X1) and it installs all the correct files in a folder garmin which is in the SD cards directory.
But when i go to select the garmin app in 'my programs' it is not there?
There is no icon available anywhere.
What am i doing wrong?
You need to install the one for windows mobile; not Symbian.

Hallo,
It's not possible to install maps trough .cab files.
TT has to install map related lines in the .exe file, .doc file and in the reg.
So you have to install trough setup.
Succes, Hannes 8)
Use a card reader.
Or you could install the maps to a local folder on the PC and then copy the directory over via activesync.

Can you please tell me how you managed to get TomTOm installed? I get the error message every time: Tomtom was unsuccessfully installed.

Ok I installed Italy maps but now the program asks for an activation process. Even giving the code embedded in the map, the activation on the tom tom site doesn't work...

can you give us a step by step process. and what versions of TT have you used ?
I installed tom tom 5.1 copying .cab files in the jasjar, then I copied the italy_plus folder in the jasjar and the program acknowledges the map ... but it asks for the activation code, saying that i must insert the disposal code (shown by the program) in a tom tom site mask. I tried but the site says that the disposal code is wrong.
I Got my TT5 working on the K-Jam! (Partially) This is what I did:
1 - TT5 did not istall properly over active sync - So I installed all of the CAB filed to my Storage Card and installed directly on the divice (I belive there are 4 files + get 1 voice file by searching the CD) I belive some the files are named ttn, GPS, etc)
2 - I emailed TomTom support and sent them a copy of my card so they can allow me to Re-activate my account (Belive they needed a copy of the card/cd, invoice of purchase and device invoice -- u can scan them , attached them, to a word file and email it to them). My code originally activated for my JAM (diff device code).
3 - I used the TomTom Map software to install the map to my PC. Then I copied the folder to my devices card via active sync
4 - when I started the TT5 -- it asked me for the activation code (which I got through ttcode.com)
5 - I activate the GPS control panel on Windows 5.0 (instructions I found on this site)
That is as far as I have gotten -- I am trying to figure out how to LINK the GPS to the K-Jam -- TomTom only lists a few coms open, but not one that the Blue Tooth lists.
Once I Figure it out -- I will post again!
Email me if you have any questions.
Hoped this helped!
In total you have to copy 4 files
mobile device\tomtom\CurrentMap.dat
\TomTom\TomTom\data05.bmp
\TomTom\TomTom\data05.chk
\Program Files\navigator\data.chk
\Program Files\navigator\tomtom navigator.exe
\Program Files\navigator\navigator.cfg
that's all.
data05.bmp and .chk is for example, you can choose one of your own voices.
Look this up on your device other wise i send you my files so you can try them.
Good Luck
GuidO
check www.htcclub.net for the soultion for installing TT5 and make it work !
Cant see any other person having this problem from my searches and topics here.
I am trying to load tomtom5 from a disc. it is the same one i used in my xda2 but it will not load on my xda exec.
I have tried to copy to the card and run but that will not work it says not a correct application.
I have 5 and 5.1 update on disc which worked on the xda2.
Neither will load to the Exec
I load the disc to pc select uk then select install but it immediadtely brings up the error message with the send to microsoft option.
Dont understand this as it worked on the xda11.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Clive
moved to universal
not sure how this posted here but moved to universal
I had the same problem: After much teeth gnashing I found a work around:
Explore the Tomtom install CD and copy the following files your SD card:
GPS.CAB - the conduit between TomTom and your Bluetooth COM port
PIMAddIn.CAB - the conduit between TomTom and your Outlook contacts
WZD.CAB - the Today plug-in (completely optional)
TTN.CAB - the actual application and data files
ENGF.CAB - Jane's lovely voice!
On the Universal, click and install the above files in the order they are listed.
You may also need to reload the maps on the SD card, which should be done via a card reader. I used my old registered XDA2 to reload the maps from the CD. Once you insert the SD card into the Universal, you would have to activate the maps via Tomtom customer support and fax over proof of purchase for the Universal / product codes / device codes etc to gain a new activation code etc.
For the record, I have deleted Tomtom from my old XDA2!!
I hope this helps!

I had a similar error on the XDAII. Creating an empty file called CurrentMap.dat in \MyDocuments\TomTom (create the Directory if neccessary) solved the problem on my device
Topic moved to Universal section.
if you download and install 5.2 from tomtom it should go straight across forget using the disc
sorted
sorted with 5.2 but still needed to input voices manaually but working fine
Tom Tom will not load
I am trying to load TomTom 5 from an upgrade pack which I bought from TomTom including all maps. This worked fine with my XDA11i so long as I copied the application CD to my hard disc but doesn't work with the Exec. I get "The application at 0x004088C3 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be "written"". I have tried installing the 5.21 download, which installs OK on my XDA11i but says "cannot connect to your device" on my exec.
I can't find any CAB files on the disc I have. They are all zip files and if I open the zips they contain files of .001 format or similar
Tomtom are no help at all as they say the exec is not on the list of compatible machines
I have installed this on my xda2i previously with no problem, however when I try to install it on to my exec it gets as far as connectin with the device and I get "Microsoft has encountered a problem and will now close" etc..
I can install other programs without any problem.
I get the same if I use my laptop or main computer, both running on xp sp2.
Any ideas?
hmm..
Everyone stumped?
Your problem description makes no sense.
Be more specific, or install from the CAB file directly on the device.
Actually it does make sense.
Whne I try to install as per the instructions I get an error prior to getting to the point where I can choose where to install the files.
TomTom have a fix for this if it happens whilst installing maps but I don't get that far.
There are several cab files on the dvd, which ones need to be installed?
TomTom doesn't come on DVDs. You are using an illegal copy. Sorry, cannot help with that.
This is what you need to do.
Don't install using disc etc.
Explore the media (CD or DVD) Tomtom came on find and copy these folders and their contents to your SD card:
2577
Great-Britain-Map (assuming that's the favoured map)
TOMTOM
VOICES
With the SD card in your Universal find the 2577 folder and run the CAB files in that folder.
evil always wins!

Thanks for the help all, copying folders and running the 4 cab files seems to have done the trick.
I am traying to find out if anyone has the Garmin Mobile XT software/card and if anyone knows if the entire program can be copied to an existing card from the card its on? I just don't want to have to keep switching cards. Thanks
Sure, here's the long thread discussing how...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=348003
Is there a place to get it as a download? I was told by garmin I could not copy it to another card from the card that you buy. Also does anyone know about full release? Thanks
No, and the thread contains a description on how to crack you own copy so that you can use it on a different, larger card. I say screw any company that pulls this crap, I use iGuidance v4 and TomTom and any others that don't lock to a memory card. PDA's need these storage cards for many things, and swapping cards in the field, just to navigate is plain goofy.
please someone give a step by step how to install garmin mobile xt on Kaiser/att 8925, i am totally stucked and confused, searched some threads and they are very uncleared. please help.

Hi.. how did U manage to get the Garmin Mobile XT to "find" the inbuilt GPS?
I've tried couple of times, it still can't find the GPS...
any other settings that I need to do? thx
1.) Im download Garmin Mobile XT 4.10.40 for PPC
2.) Im download Que(En Unlock All).exe & SW.UNL
3.) all data from Garmin Mobile XT 4.10.40.Rar Im extract to storage card(By card reader) an Im put it into HTC Tytn II
4.) When ask me If I want install Garmin Mobile XT press Yes and when ask you If you want start aplication YOU MUST CLICK NO.
5.) Remove card from phone and put it into card reader then start Mapsource and select which maps do you want export then send it to device and select card reader
6.) When complete than you copy SW.UNL into Garmin folder in card and delete "2577" folder
7.) put card into phone and connet it by Active sync and rename Que(En Unlock All).exe to Que.exe and replace file Que.exe on phone folder Garmin with this new file.
8.) Start mobile xt and setup all setings when search for receiver wait and when ask you if you want stop searching click no. Then must find your GPS receiver on COM4 otherwise try it setup manualy.
9.)if you look map you will see no map and you must first create new route to any adress and then you will see map(Detailed map or any other name)

ok guys..
I managed to get garmin xt to find the built in gps..
but now when I go to info, it's only showing Unlock ESN: XXXXXXXXXX
no more IMEI or device ID..
any idea what is Unlock ESN?
You don't need this Unlock ESN code or any IMEI to work this mobile XT with Que (EN All Unlocked).exe because this que don't look serial of maps and you don't need unlock map to your SD card number...

I guess the Garmin Mobile XT icon in Start -> Programs. If all fails, search your device for all garmin files, that is if it is actually installed.
Autoroute
Garmin mobile XT could't autoroute
please help me
Garmin Mobile XT may not autoroute if 1) you are on an off-road location or unrecognized road or 2)you are trying to route to locations across maps and you don't have the base map installed (i.e., if you are trying to map from Georgia to South florida but you don't have the north florida map or the base map installed).
If neither of these apply to you then I'm not sure the answer, never had that problem. Hope that helps.
Hello I just got a navigation dvd cd player for the car, it runs win ce 6.0, I can access the win ce windows enviorment using Igo patch that I downloaded, it does not however let me run any of the gps it has on it but will let me use the windows navigation I see the start menu and everything, anyway to manually change the path through that, or does anyone have the NaviOne directory I can download to my sdcard as the sdcard that came with it had nothing on it at all, thank you so much

This is a chinese knock off brand and I have no clue how to find out the manufacture as it has no information on it
Hi
I have been playing around with a Masten GPS bought 5 yrs ago and have NaviOne stored on my pc. There some basic restrictions for the program to work.
NaviOne folder needs to be the root directory
The resident GPS folder like America or Europe has to renamed as Street as well IGO.exe----->Street.exe
Next there needs to be an Offroad folder that contains an Offroad.exe app.
If you want to NaviOne run off the sdmmc there a problems with switching between flash drives The app will need to be hacked by hand because these links are hard wired inside the app
