NaviOne.exe on my gps unit does not work - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hello I just got a navigation dvd cd player for the car, it runs win ce 6.0, I can access the win ce windows enviorment using Igo patch that I downloaded, it does not however let me run any of the gps it has on it but will let me use the windows navigation I see the start menu and everything, anyway to manually change the path through that, or does anyone have the NaviOne directory I can download to my sdcard as the sdcard that came with it had nothing on it at all, thank you so much

Things I've tried, I've tried pointing it to the new application, If I use the Igo deal I had it will load up with 3 buttons on it, the last button says windows when I click that windows ce 6.0 pops up, but the other two do not work at all, i get a error message instead when trying and says to force quit
This is a chinese knock off brand and I have no clue how to find out the manufacture as it has no information on it

Hi
I have been playing around with a Masten GPS bought 5 yrs ago and have NaviOne stored on my pc. There some basic restrictions for the program to work.
NaviOne folder needs to be the root directory
The resident GPS folder like America or Europe has to renamed as Street as well IGO.exe----->Street.exe
Next there needs to be an Offroad folder that contains an Offroad.exe app.
If you want to NaviOne run off the sdmmc there a problems with switching between flash drives The app will need to be hacked by hand because these links are hard wired inside the app

K-Jam / Windows Mobile 5 & TomTom 5

Anyone got TomTom 5 working with Windows Mobile 5?
I received my k-Jam this morning but the setup.exe bombs out so I cannot get TT5 installed at all
any help appreciated!
thanks
Try to install the .cab file instead, it should work.
thanks but I have tried that. 3 of the 4 CAB files install but the main one (ttn.cab) - looks like its going to install ok and then you get "the file....installation was unsuccesful".
Any ideas?
Nothing on the TT site - I'm surprised that X51v or other early Windows Mobile 5 users have not been onto this one?
It seems like a problem with Activesync 4.0 initially but as the cab files don't work i guess we need a patch from them?
anyone got it working?
thanks
TomTom 5 install Problem
I had the same problem with the auto run procedure on my mini SD card.
I solved the problem by navigating to the '2577' folder and running each cab file directly on the phone (didnt use activesync). This seemed to work for me.
However, now Im having trouble with bluetooth com ports. Tomtom configuration does not show the port numbers assigned to my paired gps reciever.
Try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29282&highlight=tt5+kjam+qtek+wm5
Let me know how well tt5 runs on the k-jam ie how smooth etc as i'm awaiting my miniSD so can't try it yet!
TomTom Navigator 5.10 works with Windows Mobile 5 and Activesync 4 - but it's NOT easy. The instructions in this thread got it working for me (though I used COM4 instead of COM0):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=28386
Also I found that the bluetooth GPS had to be locked on to a signal for TomTom to see it at first - was fine after that.
Although my device is a HTC Universal, it has the same OS and Activesync version as your Wizard so there's no reason why it shouldn't work. Go to the above link and enjoy

I had the same problem. All cabs would install except the ttn cab. Here's how I solved it.
1. uninstall everything
2. install gps.cab
3. remove sd card and soft reset (this is the important bit)
4. install ttn.cab and this time it should work
Thanks for your help guys.
sl9; How did you get 5.1 to upgrade? After copying the files from the downloaded RAR file I tried to run the setup.exe file on the phone but get a message telling me that the file is not a valid windows mobile program (perhaps it is a smartphone program).

The setup.exe is meant to be run on your PC, it uses activesync. Obviously we know this doesn't work so the solution is to get the 5.10 upgrade from TomTom website as the ZIP FILE, NOT THE EXE - this is important
Anyway, extract the zip, and copy the directory with the 4 cab files in it to your SD card (where you have the map on). Then execute the cabs one by one, using the tip by jdee246 above if any of the cabs don't want to install.
After you install it, then the fun begins trying to get the damn thing to recognise your GPS device, see the link in my earlier post for a guide
Thanks guys - the soft reset seemed to do it. The manual install worked fine in the end.
I now have to wait for TomTom support to give me a code as I already had two a few months back so I can't report on how well it runs yet. Overall tho the Wizard/k-Jam is pretty slow - esp for screen refreshes.
I did try the BAKONL hack which I use to test TomTom on various devices but the ttn.cab on that patch just will not install for me under Win Mob 5.
thans
Thanks to all for your help.
Managed to get Tomtom 5.1 up and running. 5.1 seems to have fixed the gps connectivity problem.
The software runs on the K-JAM just as fast as it did on my QtekS110, with no problems yet.

Thanks for your help.....
Who had install Tomtom 5 on the K-jam ?
Because it's too hard for me and I don't understand everything .... :?
Thanks for your help !!!!
In total you have to copy 4 files from your wm2003 device and paste to wm2005 in these dir:
mobile device\tomtom\CurrentMap.dat
\TomTom\TomTom\data05.bmp (voice files on cd)
\TomTom\TomTom\data05.chk (voice files on cd
\Program Files\navigator\data.chk
\Program Files\navigator\tomtom navigator.exe
\Program Files\navigator\navigator.cfg
that's all.
data05.bmp and .chk is for example, you can choose one of your own voices.
Look this up on your device other wise i send you my files so you can try them.
Good Luck
GuidO
Thanks for your help !!!!!
I try this tomorrow ....
regards.
T-Mobile MDA Compact
Hi Guys
I seem to also be having problems with my MDA.
I can install tom-tom just fine, but for some reason it just doesnt recognise my Bluetooth GPS receiver. The receiver brand & model is as per this page:
http://www.qstarz.com/html/products_BT-Q770.htm
I have enabled COM 4 & 5 in the bluetooth settings page and configred tomtom to connect using either com4 or com5 but it just doesnt work.
Any help in solving this problem would be much appreciated!
Many Thanks!
This for all of you who are still having problems...
This is what i did to get my Tomtom working on my T-mobile MDA Compact:
1. uninstall tomtom using add/remove programs.
2. using file explorer deleted the following folders:
\tomtom
\program files\navigator
\program files\contacts navigation
3. Using a registry editor - browse the software sub-folders of HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and delete any tomtom, tomtom navigator, and/or tomtom gps/ tomtom bluetooth supprt folders.
(in order to avoid steps 1,2,3 you can also perform a hard reset after you have backed up all your data & files)
4. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> DRIVERS -> BUILTIN -> BTINSerial
5. Now change the index key from 4 to 6.
6. Exit the registry editor.
7. Soft reset your MDA.
8. Now install TTN5
9. After following the initial setup prompts of TTN5 exit it.
10. Now install tomtom nav. 5.1 (update available from the tomtom website)
11. Go back into tomtom and select "change preferences"
12. Go into GPS CONFIGURATION
13. Select Other Bluetooth
14. Select COM5
15. Click Done
16. Give tomtom about 10 seconds and your GPS navigation should now work OK!!!!
Hope this helps everyone who is trying to get this to work. I have spent a lot of time trying to find a solution that works and this i feel is it!
Needless to say use this solution at your own risk - all i can say is that its worked for me!
once installed, use this procedure.

ttn.CAB won't install despite reset
Tried installing TT5.0 on my Vario, but no luck. Like posted before, it won't install ttn.CAB. I tried:
removing all TT files, also from registry
soft reset,
installing gps.CAB,
remove SD,
soft reset,
then install ttn.CAB
but it still says 'installation failed'. Aaarrrggghhhhh
Any ideas, anyone?

tomtom will not load

Cant see any other person having this problem from my searches and topics here.
I am trying to load tomtom5 from a disc. it is the same one i used in my xda2 but it will not load on my xda exec.
I have tried to copy to the card and run but that will not work it says not a correct application.
I have 5 and 5.1 update on disc which worked on the xda2.
Neither will load to the Exec
I load the disc to pc select uk then select install but it immediadtely brings up the error message with the send to microsoft option.
Dont understand this as it worked on the xda11.
Any ideas?
Thanks

moved to universal
not sure how this posted here but moved to universal
I had the same problem: After much teeth gnashing I found a work around:
Explore the Tomtom install CD and copy the following files your SD card:
GPS.CAB - the conduit between TomTom and your Bluetooth COM port
PIMAddIn.CAB - the conduit between TomTom and your Outlook contacts
WZD.CAB - the Today plug-in (completely optional)
TTN.CAB - the actual application and data files
ENGF.CAB - Jane's lovely voice!
On the Universal, click and install the above files in the order they are listed.
You may also need to reload the maps on the SD card, which should be done via a card reader. I used my old registered XDA2 to reload the maps from the CD. Once you insert the SD card into the Universal, you would have to activate the maps via Tomtom customer support and fax over proof of purchase for the Universal / product codes / device codes etc to gain a new activation code etc.
For the record, I have deleted Tomtom from my old XDA2!!
I hope this helps!

I had a similar error on the XDAII. Creating an empty file called CurrentMap.dat in \MyDocuments\TomTom (create the Directory if neccessary) solved the problem on my device
Topic moved to Universal section.
if you download and install 5.2 from tomtom it should go straight across forget using the disc
sorted
sorted with 5.2 but still needed to input voices manaually but working fine
Tom Tom will not load
I am trying to load TomTom 5 from an upgrade pack which I bought from TomTom including all maps. This worked fine with my XDA11i so long as I copied the application CD to my hard disc but doesn't work with the Exec. I get "The application at 0x004088C3 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be "written"". I have tried installing the 5.21 download, which installs OK on my XDA11i but says "cannot connect to your device" on my exec.
I can't find any CAB files on the disc I have. They are all zip files and if I open the zips they contain files of .001 format or similar
Tomtom are no help at all as they say the exec is not on the list of compatible machines

Hi
get the 5.2 update from tomtom, install it, copy the voice files from you
v5 cd to tomtom dir in root "/", copy the maps to your mmc.
it worked for me
was the 5+5.1 known to not work then?
I had the same problems
Could not install from cd either whereas had no problems with my xda2-managed to use updat 5.2 but could not activate software via the gprs connection. ihad to get anew activation code from tom tom. this worked. i don't think version 5 is as good as version 3 and i wish i hadn't upgraded as not only are there more errors on the maps but it takes my new xda a lot longer to connect to the gps receiver.we found loads of mistakes when using the new version 5 on the xda2 in the summer when touring tom tom kept taking us to roads whichwere still under construction and couln't be used. we did tell support about this but i don't find them particularly helpful

Installing Tom Tom 5.21

I have installed this on my xda2i previously with no problem, however when I try to install it on to my exec it gets as far as connectin with the device and I get "Microsoft has encountered a problem and will now close" etc..
I can install other programs without any problem.
I get the same if I use my laptop or main computer, both running on xp sp2.
Any ideas?
hmm..
Everyone stumped?
Your problem description makes no sense.
Be more specific, or install from the CAB file directly on the device.
Actually it does make sense.
Whne I try to install as per the instructions I get an error prior to getting to the point where I can choose where to install the files.
TomTom have a fix for this if it happens whilst installing maps but I don't get that far.
There are several cab files on the dvd, which ones need to be installed?
TomTom doesn't come on DVDs. You are using an illegal copy. Sorry, cannot help with that.
This is what you need to do.
Don't install using disc etc.
Explore the media (CD or DVD) Tomtom came on find and copy these folders and their contents to your SD card:
2577
Great-Britain-Map (assuming that's the favoured map)
TOMTOM
VOICES
With the SD card in your Universal find the 2577 folder and run the CAB files in that folder.
evil always wins!

TomTom or IGo for windows phone 7 ?

Hi,
Since I bought HTC Trophy I am trying to find how to use TomTom or IGo,
Is there anyway to do that ?
Thanks
Nope. But you can try this one.

I have tried many times to unlock the phone, but no luck
Will wait for a reliable unlock solution

Unlock works just fine. You only have to reunlock it every time you connect it to your computer (which I barely do as I use Wireless Sync).
I would love a TomTom version for WP7...I've been using TomTom for years on my 2002,2003,5.0,6.0, 6.1 and 6.5 WM/PPC devices (yes, I have had PPC devices from 1.0).
I hope Tomtom comes on board for WP7...
:/
As far as I know TomTom oficially said that they are not interested in Windows P 7 for now :/
When I tried and used both TomTom and Navigon for quiet a while, I prefered Navigon. So I'm glad it is Navigon who jumped on WP7 train
navi
I got Sygic Aura on my iPhone and in my opinion this is the best navi.

Hi, you do not have to reunlock your phone. Check on xda forums, there is a simple method to prevent relocking of phone, I have just updated to NoDo and my phone, HTC Trophy, is still unlocked and all side loaded apps are still working.
A few simple steps to unlock and keep it that way:
Phase1:
-----------------------------
1. Do not update to NoDo yet.
2. Install windows phone SDK to a windows 7 pc or windows xp sp3 pc and Zune
3. install the reg file on the PC!
4. disable your PIN verification on the phone
5. Disable your screen timout on the phone, put it always on.
6. Send an email to yourself with the chevron's certificate file and open the email on the phone. Tap the attachment with the certificate file, tap again and chose install your phone should say developer certificate installed.
7. connect the phone to your pc, make sure the Relationship in Zune is not Guest (change it by clicking there on Guest and following screen instructions)
7.1 Close any other software on the pc: skype, yahoo, all, let only Zune running.
8.Minimize Zune and open Chevron's Unlocker, click Unlock it should take no more than 2 seconds. To check if everything is ok after unlocking close Chevron's software, and open it again, now the button should say Relock, if it says Relock your phone has been succesfully unlocked and you can proceed to phase 2.
Phase2:
------------------------
1.Get Tom's Xap installer (google it)
2.Install TouchExplorer and HTC Connection Setup
3.Install the unlockit.xap from this forum to make the phone stay unlocked, and after, run it from the applications menu (it should appear at the bottom of the list as XBMOD.Files.Deployer).
4. Using touch explorer copy \My Documents\My Ringtones\CustClear.provxml to \Windows\
5. Run HTC Connection Setup, pres the check button (that "v" mark) and let it finish.
6. You are done
This has worked for me. After applying all these steps you can now update your phone via Zune. If, somehow your phone gets relocked again use this to unlock it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10793775&postcount=52
Now, we all know that there is no true GPS turn by turn software available yet. But, Navigon has release a version of their navigation software only for T-Mobile users, that's a pain in the a** for others right? Do a search on the google for a patched xap of the navigon software that workes for any SIM provider you have: NAVIGON_MobileNavigator_patched.xap.
Steps to get it work:
1. Download and install the app with Tom's XAP installer.
2. Enable Data Connections on your phone (don't worry, it's smart enough not to use your 3G connection to download any huge data )
3. Open Navigon Select, it will ask you for activation press ok, it will now simply activate using your 3G/EDGE/whatever you have connection, again don't worry it uses almost 2 or 3KB of data for this.
4. Now it will ask you to connect to a WiFi hotspot for it to download it's main data files,it will not work on your 3G connection.
5. Connect to a WiFi hot spot and let it download all the data needed.
6. After it's done you have a fully working GPS software, but only with Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
7. To get any maps you want do a google search for navigon maps, mainly for 1.7 version.
Installing maps:::
You either get the maps the normal way or you search for navigon 1.7 iphone maps wich come in an .ipa extension. This you can extract with Uniextract and find the required .map files inside.
OK so I presume you have all the .map files you need. Now to be able to put them on the phone you first need to apply the registry trick on the pc so your phone will appear as a device in My Computer (search google for this registry tweak: windows phone 7 as mass storage).
Now copy on the phone in My computer all the .map files you need.
Afterwards open TouchExplorer on your phone, navigate to \my documents\zune\content\0400 and there you will see the files but with a strange extension and name. You have to rename each file with the right map name and the extension .map (austria.map, france.map etc). After you have renamed all the files (please be patient, renaming large map files such as france will take some time so don't freak if your app will appear as frozen, it is not) copy them to the following folder:
\Applications\Data\6F9CB464-BDA......\Data\IsolatedStore\map
There you will see the already existing maps, copy your .map files here, also please be patient!! it will take some time depending on how may maps you have.
I strongly advise you to disable the screen timeout also untill you have finished copying the files!!!
When it's done you can open the Navigon Select and chose a country you have copied, it should appear if you have don all the steps wright.
Mention that if you change your simcard and HTC Connection Setup runs to auto setup your data connection you will need to open Navigon and activate it again, your maps will still be there do not worry.
Good luck!
I couldn't make Australian map working, it is only for people from Europe.
If you open the map it shows Europe and countries around Mediterarenian Sea
