Just have a question please about RC8.
Over here in Australia we now have the HTC Dream. The firmware it is running is dream_stg_user1.1STG-RC8 128394 ota_rel_keys, release_keys
Is this the same as your standard T-mobile version?
The baseband version is 62.33.20.08U_1.22.14.11 (which is same as that that came with RC33 i think).
Kernel version is 2.6.25-01845-g85d4f0d [email protected] #27
Are all these the same as yours?
Reason i ask is that this is my mate's phone (I have an imported G1 from USA) and we want to root it but need to know if we are going to be able to get back to this version if he has to return it for any warranty issues? Would he do that by finding RC8 update or flashing the Rc7 and allowing an OTA update?
thanks.
It is not the same as my UK G1,
kila_uk-user 1.0 TC5-RC8 116470 ota-rel-keys,releas-keys
baseband: 62.33.20.08U_1.22.12.29
Kernel: 2.6.25-01843-gfea6b0 [email protected] #6
thanks for that-
any idea anyone how we can extract this image off the phone so we can use it later?

Hello everybody,
I have a g1 that I got in france. The annoying thing is there has been no real news of the cupcake update yet.
I was wondering if it would be an issue if I go ahead and use the OTA US or UK upgrade available here. The french version of G1 does not have gtalk and is a different from the other G1's (US or UK ones).
If I upgrade to either one, will I get those features?
Here are the details of my phone. I would be very very grateful if someone can show me the way.
Firmware Version : 1.1
Baseband Version: 62.41S.20.13U_2.22.16.19

LOL, no one probably knows because most on this forum are r00ted....
The CRC build should be CRC1, I know that much and the firmware version should be 1.5, I will have to look into the others.
I am rooted too..........but I need to know. LOL
it should read the .19.26 radio as well i believe, i am not sure on any of the other stuff though cause i keep updating daily to new roms. why do you need to know what it should say?? as long as it is unrooted or has never been rooted and shows 1.5 then the rest will come up as it is supposed to, on a non-rooted phone there is no way to change the radio without the entire build being changed or anything else.
I am having some phone issues need to return and want to make sure it is current when I return it!
Model Number -T-Mobile G1
Firmware Version -1.5
Baseband Version- 62.50S.20.17H_2.22.19.26I
Kernel Version- 2.6.27-00393-g6607056 [email protected] #1
Build Number- CRC1
HOPE THATS WORKS FOR YOU =)
I have a g1 t-mobile edition, and just unlocked it and put my o2 sim in.
Is there a way to get the latest (1.6 i think) version of android on?
If so will i lose any of the t-mobile branded bits?
Thanks.
Are you rooted?
If not, you can find the Official T-Mobile 1.6 OTA(DRC83) --here-- you will probably need to install CRC1 FIRST which is located on the same page. This was the procedure I followed to update my unrooted G1 from 1.1
If you have root, you can get the rooted 1.6 from --here--
What T-Mobile branded bits are you referring to? I've noticed The Official seems to be missing MyFaves, whereas the rooted has myfaves, don't know what's up with that...
Nope not rooted, the device is straight out of the box.
Sorry for the vagueness but the tmobile bits i was referring to were losing the t-mobile ring tone, and youtube app?
Also i have a UK version, arent these OTA images region specific?
Finally, when you say i should install the CRC1 first do you mean the 883kb file?
Bit confused as 1.6 is 14.3mb (i.e. small). Dont i need to install 1.0 to 1.5 first?
duplicate post.
sry this is where I have to step aside and hope someone else jumps in :/
Ya, the CRC1 is a super small security update but for some reason I couldn't go from CRB43(cupcake) to 1.6(donut) w/o it. (update fails)
Not sure about the UK vs US versions.. (why I'm hoping someone else can jump in)
All t-mobile bits included(I think their actually just left alone), this is actually a small cupcake mod update. yes 14mb is correct.
Under settings->about phone, what does it say under firmware version? Reason I ask is you may need to update to CRB43 before moving onto 1.6. This would probably help the next helper as well..I still have alot to learn
Firmware version is '1.0'
Build number is kila_uk-user 1.0 TC5-RC8
Slightly hesitant about downloading these images as they are us images and i need a uk image (different number format etc).
Also anyone know if i put in a t-mobile pay as you go sim it will update?
Also (sorry!) does this update come through 3g, and if so does it use your data allowance?
This may be a stupid question, but what is the different between the JI6 update and the 2.1 update1?
I just got a replacement phone from T-Mob and it claims to have firmware version 2.1 update1 but the baseband version is JFD.
Or maybe I'm trying to understand what things are in baseband vs. what is in firmware. I assume one difference is that its easy to change the firmware, but that does not help me much.
Thanks
JI6 is latest and 2.1 update 1 is the old version
I really don't know if there was a pre release version 2.1 (without update 1)...
as far as i know, the very first vibrant came with 2.1 update 1 (or JFD), and that's what you have now.
You should get this updated to JI6...

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers....
Eclair 2.1 update1 is the stock ROM that comes pre-installed on the Vibrant.
JFD is the launch version of that firmware.
The newest revision of the Eclair 2.1 update1 is JI6 which, I'm sure you've seen a thread or two about, attempts to fix many of the issues users were having with GPS/Sync/etc. If you realllllly wanted to simplify it, and I know this is completely wrong but follow me here, you have Eclair 2.1 update1(JFD). JI6 would essentially be Eclair 2.1 update1(JI6).
Since you've got a vanilla Vibrant, I'd suggest you charge up your phone and head over to the Kies Mini page to grab the JI6 update. Of course you could also wait for the OTA (over the air) update if you felt like it.

Hi,
a few weeks ago I updated my stock german Xoom so the following:
Model Number: XZ601
Android Version: 3.0.1
Firmware: GAS_EMEA_USAEVRSTUTMDE_P007
Baseband Version: N_01.83.21P
Baseband Configuration Version: UCAEVEUB1B8EU02D.0R
Kernel Version: 2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1
Build Number: H.6.1-38-5
I think this was not really software update but I did this to root the thing. Now, when I click System Upgrade, the device tells me it was up to date. Is this update functionality gone since I rooted the tablet or is Motorola still not providing Android 3.1 in EMEA?
Is there a working manual update to german 3.1 out by now? I think last time I checked there was none. Can someone bring me up to speed plz?
cheers
mathiase
My stock german xoom is not getting update either when i check for update. and its absolutely stock, i did not root it or do anything to it.
i guess 3.1 did not land in EMEA yet...at least not in Germany...
Hi,
okay that means it does not necessarily have to do with my rooted version. But the question remains: will I get the update through the usual channel with the rooted device?
Motorola is really straining me here ... What about manual updates? Is there something out for german devices by now?
cheers
mathiase
I hadn't heard of any updates going out to anyone other than japan/china/australia?
