How to backup GPRS and MMS settings - Touch Cruise ROM Development

Is there any program which can backup the settings I have in my Polaris. When I use new ROM I also lose all the settings I have previously made. Thank you for your help.

I've heard that is possible to extract the settings to .cab package and re-use them after ROM flash, but I don't know how to achieve that. Any ideas from the masters?

Upgrading Roms

Does Upgrading the Rom mean that I have to reinstall all my programs again? from scratch.?
Thanks
You have to back up all your data before doing a ROM update. Thereafter restore your previous apps.
Answer to your question, yes all data is wiped out during flashing of new ROM.
Then does Restoring..restore all my previous installed program?
No... after upgrading you cannot restore to a backup made before upgrading...sorry!
Is it possible to make a program which will collect all the programs' data, files & registry entries and save them, so later on, you can revert these programs to what they were before upgrading ROM?
I was thinking about a big CAB file which embeds sub CAB files (those will be the CAB files for all programs you want to install). This big CAB will install all the programs automatically without interference from user.
Any suggestions??

K-JAM MMS Configuration

I have posted this over at MoDaCo but i thought i would give it a go here as well.
I stupidly installed MS Global Contact Access (GCA) for PPC on my K-JAM to see if it would work (which it did) but it has caused other problems so i had to uninstall it. This is probably due to MS still not releasing a WM5 compatible version of GCA.
Now, when i open the messaging app and select "MMS Configuration" from the menu instead of the MMS Configuration screen it opens a New Meeting request.
Would anyone know how i can get my MMS config back without a hard reset? Is the setup for MMS in one of the cabs in the extended ROM or is it built into the main System ROM
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Chris
You can download a cab file from club imate for mms, sms settings.
If you know how to access your Ext ROM, you can have a look there and 'guess' the CAB that is resposible for the MMS settings. It should fix the problem.

No MMS Account in Outook? Solution!?!

Hi
I think I have a possible solution. Take a look at the attached file. It was in the o2 Active CAB file, and apart from setting up the connections, etc, it also enables MMS in outlook.
If someone can make sense of this, please help.

Did you install the Ext ROM?
Well, I had the same problem with my T-mobile phone which I used for O2. I did not install the Ext ROM of my unit and there isn't any option for MMS. I solve it by digging into the Ext Rom and find one of the CAB (guess by its name) to install. And.. it works. I think you have to set some of the MMS settings which you can get from the web for your servic eprovider.
Yes, but I installed it using hte o2 Corporate mode. It adds the MMS account only when using Basic version. But the problem with that is you get loads of o2 active crap....
Thanks

MMS inbox ?

hi guys, can any of you help me and let me know how to get MMS INBOX back? I have upgraded to the newest Chinese Dopod ROM, I have installed the O2 MMS cab that I usually use on the English ROMs to show the MMS inbox back, but it installs but it still does not show up on the Chinese ROM.
Is there any reg hack I can do to make the MMS inbox appear again?
Or is there any other cab files out there I can try to make it show up?
Restoring the mail database after a ROM upgrade causes the error you described. When I restored my SMS/email with SPB Bakcup after I upgearded to AKU2 I found that my MMS inbox was missing.
I tried to find a way of fixing it, but honestly? nothing works. So I made a full backup, backed my sms with Jeyo. Restored everything BUT the SMS from spb backup, and used Jeyo to restore them.
I haven't restored my mail database with the backup as I do not keep messgaes anyway, so that is not my problem. As I said the cab file works perfect with the English ROM, just this Chinese ROM I cannot get the MMS inbox back.
PLEASE ANYONE?
I am willing to do it manually via registry if someone lets me know how
Have you tried launching the camera application, taking a picture and use option Send | Send by MMS?
This "unhid" my mms folder (hidden by latest O2 rom on my Exec) - no idea how or why
nope doesn't do it for me but thanks for trying anyway
try this
try this file
tried that, didn't change things but thanks for trying to help anyway. I think the main problem is the Chinese ROM system files are located in different folders to that of the English ROM therefore these cab files don't work. I think the only way is to do it manually, but I do not know the registry settings to do this unfortunately

Help with mms

Hey guys,
I am unable to set up an mms account on the dopod 838pro with the 3 network provider. When I go to messaging and then new accounts it asks for an email address...Shouldn't there be more options? Do I need some sort of patch to show them?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
it is in one of the CAB file in your EXT (original) that you have skipped installing.
So how would I go about installing it?
Cheers
Would I have to mount the extended rom or something there? And would this void the warrenty?
Cheers
you need to unlock ext ROM and execute the CAB as usual.
Or else, if you are able to find ext ROM some where else (eg, the FTP), you can just get the CAB and execute it.
No, it won't void your warranty. The problem is finding the right CAB and avoid installing unnecessary CAB.
Thanks for the advice
Just found it easier to hard reset and just reinstall everything again
Cheers
