Hello all,
Does anyone have this problem where the time on the SPB main screen refuses to update, only after clicking the clock does it update. mine tends to happen after my alarm goes off in the morning.
I find by switching to the today screen for a few hours and then reverting back to the SPB panel it sorts itself out. Not ideal.
Anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?
I noticed this last night too.
I have been using SPB Mobile Shell since I received my x1 (December 23) and haven't noticed this until now.
How often do you soft reset your phone? I normally do a soft reset on my phone every few days.
You could check task manager and see if you have any applications running that may be using up memory, or reinstall the .cab file for SPB MS.
HAHA i do a soft reset every few hours....

This is just bull****!!
Some minutes ago, i opened fingerclicks to view number of a contact. Got the number, when tried to close the fingerclicks, screen froze. Waited few minutes. Nothing happened. Tried Soft Reset.....no use. I removed the battery and after few seconds reinsert it.................DAMN!! my imate got reset!!!
ALL OF MY DATA LOST. What a **** fingerclicks is. I will never install it again.

Actually I use it all the time and it's a great program. Sounds like taking the battery out is what actually hard reset your device!
Cheers
i don't think pulling out battery for few seconds can do hard reset. i did remove battery couple of times before without any problems.
AG
have used fingerclicks without problem
I always use Finger Clix and never had a single problem with it. Actually I cannot imagine using the phone without it (especially when you're driving). But, on the other hand, my device made a spontaneous hard reset once while I was installing some program (not Finger Clix)
Hi, I've had the same problem on two different machines using pocket informant. The problem went away when I updated to Vs 5.1, mind you I was also using Battery Pack, which I haven't re-installed. The issue seemed to involve a conflict with Caller ID, an IA style program installed on the ROM. Everytime I selected a photo, assigned to a contact and then tried to preview the machine would immediately hard reboot, the first machine just died and refused to respond. Eventually by removing the battery and replacing it, it did a hard reboot, again, all by itself....so you are not alone.

Fingerclix induced a hard reset
I experienced exactly the same phenomena as Aghazi. After closing Fingerclix my Qtek XDA-II did a hard reset. I also used Pocket Informant v. 4.6. Do you suggest that upgrading Pocket Informant to v5 will solve this problem?
Hi, sorry about the late reply. I am using Pocket Informant 5.1 and battery pack, lastest upgrade, and evrything works fine!
I am using Pocket Informant 5.1 and battery pack. No probs with fingerclix so far. I think this little app is a must have for the XDA - I have 1400 contacts and looking up a contact whilst driving is impossible without it.
I'm using Figer Clix every time and never had a problem with it

I have a strange problem that started this afternoon. Whenever I put my phone into sleep mode (either manually or thru timeout) and then wake the phone up again; the backlight is set to off.
I have to go to the Start --> Settings --> Backlight and turn it on again. That works ok, but once the phone shuts itself down the backlight defaults again to off.
Anyone know why, or how to fix?
Many thanks
Do you have an old version of spb pocket plus ? if yes update it... this was the problem for me...
I had the same problem, except mine was stuck at 10secs. But in actuality, when I timed it, it was more like 7secs. I could not figure out what the problem was an ended up with a hard reset.
This happened to me after I installed a backup from SPB Backup. Strange indeed.
the only spb product I have is spb time. I will try and fix today at work but can feel a hard reset coming. thanks for the replies.
Funny, I have the exact same problem since 5 days, it started on the day I installed spb GPRS monitor. Something wrong with ALL spb products ?
Alas, could not find root cause of the problem so I did a hard reset and all its working fine now.
well ...
just like the title states my 8125 will go into hibernate mode and whne i go to power it back up it wont. the service light is still flashing but the screen will not appear..
anyone have a solution ?
Had the same problem on and off. Upgraded to 2.26 and have not had the problem since.
and how do i go about doing that?
is it a hard procedure? amd is it easy to screw up?
i did a hard reset on the device and the problem went away, then after about a month or 2 of use again it seems to have started happening.
I had that problem after I installed the test bluetooth stack... probably a memory leak issue...
anyone have suggestion what i should do ?
I had the same problem too.. I installed Memmaid, and checked the notifications queue. There was a program I installed which placed itself to run when the device woke up.. When I deleted it the problem was solved. But be careful, just delete 3rd party software entries. I guess this is easier than uninstallling them one by one. After spotting the problematic software, you can consider uninstalling it. Hope this helps.
well, you did do a hard reset right? That should tell you what software you installed that caused this, that is if you do your app installation one by one...
Another advice given to me is to get a task manager and monitor if any process/app take up too much memory..
the only apps i have installed are:
SPB Pocket Plus
SPB Weather
MemMAID
Resco Photo Viewer
Batti
Smartskey
Eten Dialer Skin
NFpencil - some nothing drawing/sketch application
it gets really annoying, when i do a soft reset it starts off with 22mb of memory by the end of the day or next morning its down to 18-17-16mb which is usually when it would freeze.

Hi tvrman.
For starters, install Sprite backup (on one of the CD's you got with the Ameo). This will eradicate the need for a full install after a hard reset in the future!
I suggest you do a full hard reset anyway then install Sprite Backup utility.
Only put back your essential apps one by one with 1/2 a days gap between each installation and test the turn off turn on function.
Be sure to use the supplied X-Button application to ensure you properly clode apps down after you're finished with them....or use Wisbar Advance 2, which will do it for you....except for Active Sync (this will always remain active unless shut down manually in memory menu).
I have not once suffered the problem you have in over a months use of the Ameo....might be a faulty unit or a buggy ROM. What version ROM are you using?
Anyway, if all goes well over the next 3 days, do a full backup and save a copy to your storage card or micro drive and be sure to copy a copy over to your PC...that should future peoof you having to do a full install again in the future. And be sure only to back up, if you have no problems with the device and the problems you mentioned earlier. Otherwise you will allways restore the bugs in the device after a hard reset.
Hope this helps. keep us updated on how you get on.

thanks for you professional answer, i was not aware that spd backup
was on the cd which was delivered at the ameo.
Well yesterday i found out that one of the programs (profimail)
which i'm using serveral times a day for my mail, that this is the problem
I found out that yesterday i didn't use profimail but the built in mail the
whole day and the ameo did not freeze at all the whole day
tried to turn it off an on the whole day and no problems at all,
yesterday late i start profimail and check serveral mails, i close profimail
and turn the device off, later turn it on and a black screen it would not
turn on
After soft reset everthing works.
So i will check today again without using profimail and see what's happends
again.
i'll let you know....
hi,
I had the same problem.
My solution was to format the mini-sd card.
So what i did:
1. copied all data on de minisd in a cardreader to a directory on pc
2. Formatted (not quick) the minisd
3. Copied all data back to the minisd.
All the tests I have tried suggest it is Wisebar Advance 2 that is causing the freezing.
Anyone else find this? Shame as it is the program I like the most

No such issue here! WA2 runs like a dream on my Ameo...even better than it did on my Hermes or Prophet! I'm using the 2.8.0.2 version of WA2 without WAD.
WA2 + WAD
Yes, in my case it was also WA2. I made my own skin and all work fine. But in time I got more lock-ups. So I decided to reinstall everything. Then things went wrong. That day I have installed everything 6 times. Every time I had lock-ups when I pushed the power button and activated it again. But after disabeling WA I had no troubles anymore. The last production and beta version have the same problems. At this point I have to advice not to use WA2. I did not examine every feature of WA2. So there can be one feature that caused the problem. I made my own iPhone landscape skin and I was very pleased. Could somebody try this skin to see if it freezes their device?
skin
iPhone skin ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Software/iPhone.rar
I use a lot of apps. I also use the following plugins on WAD:
SPB Diary
Profiles for Windows Mobile
Windows Life Messenger

I'll give the skin a test run in an hour, but I refuse to use plug-ins again. They have always caused me problems, but WA2 never has. What version were you running?
Tried the i-phone skin and have experienced no issues whatsoever.
Maybe the Problem is WAD and your plug-ins.
WAD keep on giving problems like this...it's a sin for such an interesting application...here it is because I gave up to use it.

I did some searching and found some suggestions it might be the skin I was using. I changed the skin and no more freezing.
Robert
trayap.exe
Since I removed the trayap.exe from the init part of the registry I did not have any freezing anymore. I will try WA2 again to see if this solves my problem.
By the way, I am using the latest beta's of WA2 and WAD
hi all
i find that if i use the off button to turn off the backlight whilst media player is running it jams the machine, requiring a reboot. i know that i can usethe light button on the keyboard but i sometimes forget that media player is running (ie. paused).
I have the same freezing problem now after a few weeks of usage.
The device was running very nicely but now, without installing anything further or adding anything to the device, it freezes randomly.
It likes to freeze when the backlight goes off, while I play MP3 files or have a phone conversation using bluetooth.
In the past 4 days I have softreset the device no less than 81 times.
I suspect the Microdrive is to blame. Is it sensitive to movement?
I will remove all my software and other files from the microdrive and see if things improve.
In the mean time, has anyone else experienced random and frequent freezing?
Oh, I have the Dopod U1000 branded device with the latest firmware.
ok, I had it with this. 16 more soft resets within 4 hours.
I hard reset the device. So far I see no random freezing, but I didn't install anything extra yet except ozVGA and VJBigPhone. And both of them on the internal memory, so nothing on the microdrive.
Hey.
Ok so ive got a really wierd problem.
My device keeps locking up at random times. I can for example send an sms and then press the panel button, It hangs totally. cant do anything about it. Have to pull out the battery.
This hapens almost always when im playing around with my phone.
I got touch it 4.0 rom....
Anyone know what this could possible be?
Possibly or even for 100% one of the apps or some elements have conflict.
I installed once the app in beta and it slowed down my X1 big time.
Uninstalled and all came back to normal.
omg.. it seems most likely you are joining my " i hard resetted my x1 " club
now again my device locked up. Was browsing pics in the facebook app. and it just hangd up. for no reason, and there is nothing i can do except removing the battery and putting it back again.
god damn it!
are you considering hard reset?
Since after upgrading firmware to R2AA, I've had similar issues when I install either one or both SPB Mobile Shell and SPB Pocket Plus. I uninstalled both of them and all is well.
seems as it was the facebook panel updated that did it for me.. that was the only thing i dident install after hard reset.. :O
