Email help - Mogul, XV6800 General

I'm having an issue with my mogul not showing attachments anymore. I get my office vm's and efax's send to my email address. I used to be able to download those attachments on my phone. Now when the msg comes in the paper clip icon is no longer on the email even after downloading the whole msg. I can still get attachments from other sources on my phone. the only issue is with the ones with my Voicemails and efax's. I have hard reset the phone same issue. I set it up on my friends Blackberry and he was able to see the attachments just fine. Any help on this issue would be great!

soft reset and e-mail clients

hello, if this has allready been asked can someone please point me to it as I cant find it
The question relates to a known issue with the email clients dissapearing after a soft reset. My problem is that they are still resident in the message menu, though when clicked on do nothing. And if I try to open them up again by the new account option it will not let me as it allready exits. How do I delete these entries so that they do not show up :?
me too......
I wouldn't mind a solution to this too. I've got an AWOL email account sitting on my today screen also.

Send mine to service, they switched the mainboard, no problems since!!
Seems a bit extreme, a mainboard transplant. I can't help think that it's a software problem.
I can find references to the number of unread emails displayed on the today screen in plain text in the registry, played a bit but not successfully.
Hmm, I think this may run and run.

It actually happened to my previous BA with WM5....
For my O2 Exec, what happened is sometimes:
1. When I receive an email from a Yahoo POP account, there is a link to some website.
2. I click the link and it divert to the PIE. It downloads a bit and then suddenly terminate itself. No matter how I try reopen the website it just doesn't work.
3. So, I reset the machine and the emails just downloaded in the Yahoo account were GONE!!! But the account is still there. I just have to download it again.
So, I think it's all related to the persistent storage that it needs more times to store the messages into the device.....I guess.
Anyway, my POP accounts didn't disappear again compared to my previous BA. Hopefully, an OS upgrade can solve this problem.
Cheers,

The Case of the Dissappearing Email...

So there I am checking email via wifi... Happy as a clam loving my Uni in VGA mode. I have about 20 or so previous messages that are on my Universal from previous email sessions... I hit Send/Receive... Connecting... 1 email... Downloading... and WHAM! Suddenly there is only one email (the new one) in my inbox. WTF! All others deleted. No where to be found. I thought WTF! Then about a week later.. It happened again. WTF!
Any of you digital slueths know what happened? Or has this happened to anyone else?

Did you download the messages to a PC?
Outlook on the Uni leaves a copy of the messages on the server, if you download those messages via Outlook on a PC, then they are removed from the server, when Oulook on the Uni connects again, it sees they are not there and removes them from the device.
You can get Outlook on the PC to leave the mail on the server but it could fill the server up quickly if you get alot of mails.
Wow You're Right... Here's a problem..
YOu are correct Mori that's why they dissapper. So here is something that you need to watch out for. You check your mail on your Uni.. Oh good an email from my mountainbike sponsor saying blah blah blah... very important. I go home to pack for my trip... check my email on the PC and the cab is there... boom I'm out the door. Sitting in the airport I check my email again from the Universal this time... 1 message.. downloading... BOOM email for sponsor is gone. It's back home on the PC which I didnt sync to my Universal yet
Note to self: Save important emails on Universal.
Spread the word...

getting email attachments ?

Hi
probably a really simplw question but how do I get the attachments from my emails?
I have been using my wifi when out and about to receive my emails. I get the mails no problem but theres no way I can see to get the attachments. the little attachments symbol is next to em but don't know how to get em
cheers
did'nt think i'd have to reply to me own msg but what the hell!
You realise this is a forum, not a chatboard, AND it's christmas eve right?
Anyway, I tried opening at attachment on one of my emails. Just clicked the link at the bottom of the email to get the full msg + attachments, it said it would get it next time I checked my mail. Since the phone happened to already be checking I waited a bit, and now I'm looking at a .doc file I sent to my school. It's displayed at the top of the email and when I tap it, it opens in word mobile.
So I'm not sure what's not working for you, but maybe this helps?
thanks for the reply mate. nah no msg at the bottom of the email. there is on my isp email but nothing when I get my hotmail on my xda. maybe it's cus its hotmail??
cheers
Ahh... can't help you there then, I don't use hotmail, only gmail (through pop3 access).
no problem mate. thers gotta be a way to view the attachments on hotmail accounts when getting via the xda outlook.
cheers anyway
Hi, just got the AT&T Tilt and I'm searching for a way to view my hotmail attachments... I see the little attachment icon (paperclip) but I cannot open it... anyone have the answer yet?

8525 and missing emails.

I'm running the leaked version of the Cingular rom and while I know this isn't final I was kinda hoping that some things would get fixed. One of them being the missing email problem.
After a few hours receiving a email it just disappears into thin air!!!!! and yes I have it set to always show emails no matter how old they are..
Where are my emails going? I want to keep ALL my emails until I decide to delete them..
Anyone got any suggestions? I have tried everything and nothing works..
Out of curiosity am I the only one on a 8525 that has this problem?
Have you used the site search, and tried the retrieve 999kb header fix?
Yes and they still dissapear..
I have tried everything..
i too am having this problem. you are not alone. guess now i will be trying out 3rd party mail clients for the time being. everything else with the upgrade is fantastic so im not going back
This is still an issue with me also. Using a verizon pop3 account.
Incorrect Settings...??

In order to help, we need to know what pop account you are using... for instance, I had this problem with Gmail messages disappearing after a couple of hours to a day... found out that there is a non published setting that appears when using the phone's auto config feature... Let me explain...
when setting up the pop3 account for gmail, the settings are as included on their website... problem is that I have my outlook connected at home and constantly checking messages, and is configured to leave messages on server.... But with the other machine pulling the messages, for some reason they disappear on my TyTN even though I have it set to grab messages for the last 7 days...
what the auto config feature has done was to add "recent:" without the quotes in front of my account name, so it reads "recent:[email protected]"... Once that was done, my messages stopped automatically disappearing... Try it, what do you have to lose that you haven't lost already...

The first setup I edited out the "recent" and had the disappearing mail problem - I deleted that email account and ran the setup again leaving the "recent:" text in and bingo my Gmail works as it should on my P3600i.
Thanks for the tip.
PS. The only bug now is that the mail that I sent also appears in the Inbox - is there a way to correct this?

Attachments not downloading

I am having an intermittent problem with email attachments not downlaoding and it is totally confusing me. I have my settings so that all emails and all attachments of any size can download and some of the time this is fine but other times (like this morning) the emails will download but the attachments wont download when I prompt for them to come too. It is the same problem whether using wifi or gprs/3g as my settings are identical anyway.
Has anyone got any ideas. I am fairly certain that the attachments that wont open are ones that are large. It seems that the device is forcing emails to be attachments that weren't attachments in the first place. For example when I opened an email this morning it was blank with an attachment but when I checked my laptop and went for the same email it was a text email with an excel file attached. I didn't know what was contained in the email at all though because Ihad only been faced with an attachment that wouldn't download and it was work so luckily I was still at home.
Has anyone any ideas. I am computer and MDA literate but when it comes to registry tweaks and cooking ROMS forget it - not my thing
help
Has no one any ideas on this one - it must be something simple surely.
I have the same problem with me HTC, on both wifi-gprs each time I click on the attachment to email. It reads "Attachment will download next time you connect" I can't work that out
I dont know...but maybe it could be related to memory...
If you are having this problem with "large" files or emails maybe they do not download becase there is not enought free memory for the file in your device...
Have you set the PPC to save attachments to sotrage card or they store in main memory??
has this happened when you have a lot of mails in your inbox or with very few??
I'm just guessing here but it could be a chance...
