Hi,
Is there a Data Connection scheduler for Sprint HTC Touch, when I turn of the Data Connection it’s turns on automatically, I have setup Email, weather, GPS, and RSS. I do have Unlimited data plan but don’t like to leave it on all the time. Can anyone suggest what would be the alternative?
Thank a bunch in advance,

I have noticed my Xperia has turned on the data connection a few times without me requesting it to. I was not doing anything, so hopefuly i will not be charged (i don't have any web usage in my contract).
Is there anything i can install that will password protect the data connection or at least stop it acciedently turning on?
Had the same with my Prophet - in the end I installed SPB GPRS Monitor which gave me an idea of how much it used (could also set it to warn you when it went over limits, cut connection I think, etc)
Next to that, whenever I wanted to disable it (e.g. roaming, etc) I changed the networks used (settings-->connections-->select networks) to something without settings, that way programs that connected automatically didn't find the right settings and couldn't connect (for when the phone was in my pocket etc).
Not sure if there is an app available now to PW protect the data connection - been on an unlimited plan for a while now (internet/rss feeds etc).
I had a similar issue until my data plan became active.
There's a free program on the modaco website called nodata that allows you to turn off/on the data connections when needed. It worked very well whilst I was using it.
... here's the link NoData Utility (Modaco)
I have O2 unlimited web bolton on my account but for some reason O2 swapped it back to unlimited text bolton. I mange to change it back to unlimited web bolton.
I observed on my bill that everyday there is usage of around 30 to 50 kb of data on my account.
I have connected my HD with WIFI and Data communication is off. But of some reason, Data communication automatically gets on and hence I think it try to do something and everyday their is data usage.
Can anyone tell me how to stop Data communciation started automatically.
You can turn it off using the advanced configuration tool. Just do a search and download it.
I have advance configuration tool. Can you point me to a particular setting
It should be under Data connections.
Thanks, I found it. It is under Menu --->More Settings ---> Connections
I gave my wife my old 8125 to use when her phone went out, now she's hooked on it & wants to be able to check e-mail. she dosen't have or want a data plan on it, and is home most of the time, but can't get to the computer b/c of other responsibilities.
I have set it up to access wifi, and it will use it for PIE, But when I set up the e-mail account it wants to dial out to check. I have tried setting the account to work, and internet but it just won't work, If I let it use medianet it's fine.
Any ideas?
I have not found a way to keep WIFI active at all times and doing so would kill the battery in just a few hours anyway. (seems to be more problematic on secure wifi networks)
This is the solution I use because I don't have an unlimited data plan and I don't want anything using the mobile phone network and thus being charged for data usage.
I stop GPRS on the phone using a freeware program called "NODATA". It toggles off the data connection to the phone company. The phone itself and text messaging still work without GPRS. I can then connect to a hotspot and everything else uses wifi instead. SMTP mail, internet browsing, google, search, etc. all flow through the wifi and I don't get billed for it.

Works great for me. Simply toggle GPRS back on only when you need it...
I've heard of others setting up "fake" GPRS connections settings and switching to those. Since the "fake" connection fails, it rolls over to WIFI. But this is much simpler.

Hi guys,
I recently subscribed to a 12G data plan. In the past, I've used nodata to disable data connection and used wifi when possible. Since I have a data plan, I enabled data connection and now both wifi & 3G/GPRS are activated.
My question is this, does HD when connected to wifi, use it exclusively until the connection is lost and then 3G takes over? And when wifi is re-connected, it automatically uses wifi and not 3G? The reason I am asking is because I see both the 'wifi' and 'h'/'g' status at the same time. And when clicking on it, the data connection shows that it has been in use for hours!
My concern is going over the data limit and battery life.
Thanks so much in advance!
No, it's not designed to establish only one connection at the same time. You can have WiFi and 3G connected at the same time.
thanks vcespon... i wish there is 'smart-connections' program...
I am running the 1.66 rom, and when I turn off the data connection in 'Comm Manager', it will be activated again (most of the times within an hour).
I am NOT using Sense (but Titanium), and to be sure, I disabled all auto-updates (for mail, for weather, for stocks, for time sync, etc.) in Sense.
I really would like to know what is the reason that the data connection activates itself. I installed Dialup Enabled/Disabler, a small tool so I can see the active connections, but I only see listening connections on 127.0.0.1. So no info here.
Does anyone have a clue how I can track down which program activates the data connection each time?
P.S. I know that an idle data connection does not drain my battery, but I just dont want some program connecting to the internet without me knowing.
