Help!
First time attempt at using HPSL and may have bricked my HD2 :-(
I have a Voda supplied HD2 so can't install the stock ROMs directly...I thought I would be able to do so via HPSL, but it seems not. I was trying to install 1.66 (UK WWE) following the HPSL for dummies guide, and did the following:
- installed HPSL onto HD2, confirmed by going into bootloader
- put nbh file (extracted from stock .exe) onto SD card, named LEOIMG.nbh
- entered bootloader and chose flash option via power button
- flash started (minimal progress)
- within 2mins error showed
- now going into bootloader shows
00028002
Not allow
then..
SPL-1.42.0000 :-(
Upgrade ROM code error Please try again
If I start normally I get a warning triangle.
How can I get my HD2 back from the dead, ideally with 1.66 rather than the crummy Voda 1.43? (can anyone point me at a stock ROM for the voda 1.43, perhaps that would at least unbrick it?)
Help!!!!
*EDIT* Currently downloading the Voda 1.43 image, hoping I can at least get that back and running...if that works will still be keen to find out how to apply stock 1.66 via HPSL (bearing in mind that the CID lock(?) means I can't apply 1.66 on my voda device thru normal means)

The 3rd sticky down in the HD2 ROM Development thread is titled, "[REF]Leo Official ROMs" - Click that.
Then click, "Shared folder for shipped Leo ROMs".
The first "box" will have the title "Leo 1.43" under it. Click the hand carrying the folder icon.
You'll be greeted with 3 ROM's, select RUU_Leo_Vodafone_UK_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26. 50.07U_2.04.50.22_2_Ship.exe and download it.
Hope that helps.
Good luck with getting your phone back up and running.
Your device is not bricked. I think you have not installed HSPL properly.
Try installing HSPL again. As it seems your HSPL is not installed properly. Follow the following instructions very carefully :
Connect your phone to USB
I think when you boot in by default your device goes into bootloader if not press volume down + power butoon on the same time, your phone will enter tri color bootloader mode.
At the bottom of your screen it shoul show "USB"
Now download the HSPL.zip file(I have attached it here)
Now run HSPL.exe and follow the onscreen insteuctions.(Mostly you have nothing to do it will start installing automatically)
After a while on the screen of your phone a text will appear saying "We hacked it". If this text is displayed then everything went ok. Now confirm by clicking yes on the computer screen and it will finish the process.
All done.
Your phone will restart.
If you want to check that your fone has HSPL then press volume down+power key at the same time. The phone will enter into bootloader and should show "cotullaHSPL".
Now you can install any ROM and it will run properly.
Thanks - had just found that and started downloading as you posted this..fingers crossed! If this works will still be keen on ways to apply 1.66 (stock) to my voda CID locked device.

This is exactly what happened 1st time I installed HSPL...however trying it again did get the phone back and apparenty healthy again....thanks!
So - 2nd attempt to flash the 1.66 ROM, same as before. Confirmed HSPL installed via tri-colour bootloader screen, selected (via power button) option to flash from SD. Progress bar gets to (max) 10%, Warning triangle briefly shows then phone goes back to tricolour bootloader (but with std. SPL version) and nothing more happens.
Should I be waiting longer ? i.e. is the phone potentially still flashing when on the tricolour, std. SPL, screen ? Not flashed an HD2 before so not 100% sure I'm doing this right..will double check videos on this site, sure I'm just being stupid/impatient/not read enough....may try downloading the ROM again incase corrupted.
Anyway, HSPL installed for 3rd time and phone appears fine back running with 1.43.
People please read the HSPL thread properly, once you have installed the HSPL you CANNOT install from SD card you HAVE TO USE THE PC to install any rom images that are not original HTC.

Yeah, the 1.66 ROM you've downloaded may be corrupted. And next time, try installing the ROM with USB connection and the ROM's .exe file. You SPL is reverting back to stock, so it's possible that the culprit is flashing with SD.
OK, problem solved...
Rather than installing the stock ROM via HSPL bootloader I installed HSPL and then ran the RUU exe for the stock ROM. Phone now upgraded

I believe Dragon Soft was possibly referring to not using a stock ROM from SD? If I remember correctly flashing a Stock ROM from SD with HSPL on will remove HSPL.
So in other words, if you have HSPL and want to have a stock ROM, it is best install it from the PC when connected via ActiveSync as this won't affect the HSPL.
Custom ROM absolutely no probs with flashing from SD, the HSPL will stay intact, good work on the video ★

I got my Leo two days ago, went home, put HSPL on it in the first place, wanted to upgrade the stock ROM, and ended up same as CraigBruce. Really frustrating, thought I'd bricked it. So I re-flashed HSPL and this time a custom ROM and it was back up again.
Now I know that I should have flashed the stock ROM via ActiveSync and not SD card which would have left the HSPL intact. I will definitely remember that for the future
just remember that some people WANT to remove HSPL when installing a stock ROM - e.g. when returning device.
tbh it should have worked with stock ROM and sdcard as leoimg.nbh - it is the way listed in HSPL thread to uninstall after all!!! we dont always want to use customRUU!!!
As from the noob flashing thread
NOTE: The only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from microSD card
* You can also use this method to flash back your Stock Rom and Stock SPL that you originally had on your phone*
VIDEO TUTORIAL: [★] has made a YouTube video to walk people through flashing a Stock SPL via activesync. Find it *HERE*
- Download a shipped Rom from *HERE*
- Rename the extension to .zip
- open it with winzip and extract the RUU_signed.nbh file to a folder
- Rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and copy it to the root of a microSD card thats been formatted to FAT32
- Insert your storage card into your phone
- Enter Bootloader and follow onscreen instructions to flash

With hspl installed you CAN flash CUSTOM roms using sd card, it is only flashing OFFICIAL roms through sd card that removes hspl.

Use the custom ruu to flash it. Do not put the nbh on the sd. I quote from the "[HSPL]How to flash everything" thread:
4) Uninstallation
Only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from SD card.
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.

No Problem Flashhing to 1.66 on a Voda HD2 with HSPL
I have a voda HD2 and being a total Newbie to the HTC / WM .. I followed the Dummie guide.. (thanx to all, for that.. fantastic..) installed HSPL..and then installed the latest 1.66 from the HTC site using a boggus serial number.. As actual would not let me download it. No problemo..
Feeling a bit more adventureous.. any suggestions for the best 'cooked Rom' ??
From my understanding, you can flash away Stock ROMS using activesync. No need for HSPL.

You must use a vodafone stock ROM then - the 1.66 HTC ROM flashes the stock SPL
which does not fit your CID, therefore you get the triangle.
thx for replying.
I had stock rom 1.48 before and then i installed HSPL so that i can install Stock 1.66 wwe rom into my hd2. It was a successful action. Rom installed and worked correctly without any problem.
But problem arise when I tried to uninstall the HSPL to original spl. I renamed the 1.66 rom .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh and converted the card format into fat32 also.
when i inserted the card into hd2 and turned it on whilst pressing down volume button. its started into boot loader program and den asked me to press power button to start the process.
And then it ended with an error.. 00028002 NOT ALLOW something like that. which is for Invalid vendor ID..
Please help..
how to return to original spl with the latest 1.66 wwe rom.
thx in advance..

Actually, you did everything correctly... except that you should use the stock ROM for your device, which is vodafone branded, isn´t it?
BTW, did you check the SPL version already? Because it might be already back to stock SPL, but then, you won´t be able to flash an original HTC ROM.
Being back at stock SPL (with vodafone CID) and trying to flash/launch an official HTC ROM on the branded device results in what you write!
Hmm.. is there any harm if i don't remove HSPL??? as m still trying to make my HD2 working..

Get the original 1.43 vodafone UK ROM from here, and repeat what you did.
Follow the first link, select 1.43, then obviously the vodafone ROM.
EDIT PS:
In case you want to keep the stock SPL, but upgrade to the 1.66 HTC ROM, you must do this using SSPL (search for this here in the forum).
As of today, there is no other way of getting the stock SPL back than flashing your original ROM.
BIG thank you .. it is working now with the stock 1.43 rom.. and yes u are right.. it was showing me again 1.42 spl after uninstalling the HSPL.

Hi
Thanks for the link, however the 1.43 ROM is corrupt, I have tried downloading several times. I try to extra the RUU_Signed.nbh with winrar but it fails, the 1.66 and 1.72 Vodafone ROMs extract fine.
Basically I am trying to restore a Vodafone HD2 to stock ROM+SPL, reason being the phone they sent on an insurance replacement is rubbish e.g. the touchscreen isn't responsive. I tried changing to a custom ROM also Vodafone 1.66 and 1.72 to see if the problem would be fixed but it didn't help.
Now I just need to send the phone back for another replacement.
Does anyone have an alternative link for this 1.43 ROM?
I am having a similar issue.
I am trying remove HSPL, I have copied the .nbh file over to the SD already formatted as FAT 32 - I'm using my original ROM.
(RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Shp )
Also tried with ( RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50_22_2_Ship )
When I start with volume down pressed, I get a message saying " Upgrade ROM code error please try again " then the multi coloured screen with SPL-1.42.0000 XE.
Please help, I fear I have broken my phone ...

HSPL is already removed, which is why the WWE roms don't work. You need to find your provider released rom, or (far easier) run hspl2, choose 1.42.hspl, flash either of teh roms you mentioned above by USB, run hspl2 again, choose 1.42.0000 and done.

Thanks for the reply.
I can't use HSPL2 as the phone doesn't sink to my PC as it's stuck on the tri colour screen. Unless there is a way of doing this from the memory card.
I'm pretty sure my stock ROM was 1.43, which I have downloaded but can't re flash?.
I guess I need to download a 1.42 O2 ROM from somewhere?

OK this is using the 1.48 ROM
Used HSPL2 and hacked to 1.42.hspl, pressed power to start update image, and the ROM loaded but then goes back to the tri colour screen again. So I ran flashed through USB 1.48 ROM and got " Invalid Vendor ID " ?
I tried HSPL2 again to hack to 1.42.0000 and then re-flash through USB and got " invalid vendor ID again "
I even tried with HSPL I had before and the same result.

Working now
I downloaded the latest O2 ROM 1.72.0 etc and it's working now.

2. unpack/unzip and place ruu_signed.nbh and ROMUpdateUtility in sd card
3. make sure you have >50% battery life
4. with the device turned off, put sd card in
5. enter boot loader, device will automatically detect ROM file in sd card and
then will install this, it will install stock spl as well so hspl will be removed

sounds like you tried to flash over sd card, which as any fule kno first thing it does is resets the spl, so hspl is no longer installed so the rest of the flash fails.

1 - boot the phone to bootloader. (Three coloured screen)
2 - run hspl2, choose whatever spl you like SO LONG AS it ends HSPL.
3 - when the phone reboots, keep volume down pressed to re enter bootloader
4 - run your rom flash over USB
5 - phone should now boot normally.
6 - if you now want to remove hspl again, re run HSPL2 and choose the spl you want, ENDING IN .0000

Yes Doh - I was flashing from SD and then trying to flash through USB. It all makes sense now. I got around it though by using the new O2 ROM that's just been released so I didn't need to unlock to bring my phone back to life.
Anyway it's all working fine now with the stock 1.72 O2 ROM, just flashed with HSPL2 and re-installed the Energy ROM.
Thanks again for all the help.
ahh good.
Its a good idea if you flash fairly regularly to do your flashing from bootloader, that way you are visually aware of your spl at every step. just get used to holding vol down as it reboots and you can do the whole thing, hspl, rom, radio, without ever having to pull the battery. just keep booting to tri colour till its done.
Hello,
I bought HD2 just yesterday, probably as every member of xda, i tried flashing it. No problem, i tried several ROMs and as far as i remember - after flash it got stuck at white bootscreen with green HTC (i found several threads dealing with this problem, but most of the people had written there ROM, RADIO, .. in the left corner - I dont have this written) So I tried to flash the phone from the SD with stock rom, nothing has changed, I tried taking out the sd & sim card. I tried hardresetting device few times and I got no more ideas.
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks in advance!!!
Filip
Edit 1: In the PDA Phone Rom update utility I cannot see the old version of ROM & Radio..
Edit 2: For now I have HSPL in the phone.
sounds like a missmatched rom and radio. once they are both flashed correctly it will boot. (example, a rom based on 2.10 rom will require a radio of around 2.06 or better to boot.)
edit - just seen you flashed with a stock rom from sd card, can you boot to bootloader? (press and hold vol down, tap power on)
dont worry about

I had exactly the same problem several days ago. After exchanging several ROMs, I got stuck at very first white screen with a green banner, but before it even showed the ROM and radio versions on it. And it happen after the ROM flush finished successfully. I also tried to hard reset it a couple of times.
But after that I used a gold card with 1.61 WWE ROM on it that I still have from the time when the HSPL wasn't developed yet.
During the flash from the gold card it waited at first and shown a some kind of error or warning grey exclamation sigh in a triangle, but just for a split second. After that it returned to continue flushing. I think it took twice as long as it should be, but as it finished, I was able to boot, hard reset and re-flash to the stock ROM 1.66 WWE, the usual way through the USB cable.
samsamuel: I can get with no problem to bootloader, could you send me exact link of the rom and radio that work together? And how come, that everytime I connect the phone to charger, it starts up?
mikiort: I havent ever used goldcard, havent ever heard of it better to say..
thanks for your help, guys, really appreciate it!!!
Since you have HSPL stil on your phone
(SPL 1.42.HSPL and not 1.42.0000) you are happy. Flash a stock rom from USB, lets say a 1.66 wwe rom, and if it still wont boot, go to teh radio roms thread, pick a low radio, (the 1.61 for instance) flash that, and you should have a working phone.
yeah, right now im flashin 1.66 WWE but it stopped and 99%... waaa im gettin nervous ok i will try and let you know
Ok, flashed 1.66 WWE but nothing has changed, im about to flash radio.
Flashed Radio 1.61 "Leo_RADIO_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07.nbh.7z" and still nothing... Oh!!! do you have any other ideas? Or should i again try to flash from SD official ROM?

hmm, sorry to hear that. i'd maybe consider flashing stock from sd card, but you need to be sure you have teh correct stock rom for your phone provider and region.
Be warned, this will remove HSPL, if you do not have the correct stock rom, it wont work.
Yea, i did that once already with 1.48 WWE Eastern Europe, it worked (it didnt show the triangle sign) but it didnt help, now im trying to flash 1.43 but im not expecting anything good

Ok, if you have 1.42.0000 you need to redo the hspl flash. Once the spl is 1.42.hspl you can then flash to the rom of your choice. Which rom were you trying?
Many of the new roms require you to flash to a new radio at least 2.06 and most recently to 2.08 PRIOR to flashing the rom and if you don't the rom does not boot up and gets stuck on the white HTC screen.
really noob question, but anyways... do you firstly flash the rom and than the radio?
and to those ROMs.. i tried duffys, energy and one more i cant remember right now.. Im trying to HSPL and than flash from Vista computer, not XP...

For these newer roms you need to flash the radio first and then the rom, otherwise the rom doesn't boot up and gets stuck on the white screen.
If you are flashing a newer ROM based on the new TMOUS ROM I would flash the 2.08.50.08.03 Radio, then the ROM. Make sure you have HSPL 1.42 first.
Ok, I do have SPL-1.42.HSPL CotullaHSPL there... now if possible tell me the "for sure" working combination... Btw, i remember how did it happen, i flashed dutty's rom and wifi was not working (option in communications couldnt be turned on/off was grey) and so i tried to flash there other rom.. and it got into problems..

I'm currently using the latest NRG rom (link in my signature) with the 2.08.50.08 radio and that works. Just as I said, flash the radio first and then the rom. The Dutty rom should also work the same way though so the choice is still yours.
OK so here i come, i flashed there firstly the radio Leo_RADIO_15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.05, then Dutty's ROM Duttys Leo HG V1 5.2.21892 but nothing has changed.. I think the device is ready to be sent to HTC, what do you guys think?

What did you do to flash the radio? Please explain how you did it.
Hi All,
For those of you, who wants to go back to the WM 6.1 WWE 1.35.720.2 Stock ROM on the Viva, here it is...
This is the lastest english ROM that you can get from HTC. You may use this for warranty purpose or if you prefer going back to the stock ROM. This ROM has the Idea logo. The entire package was assembled from official HTC updates and has no customization/personalization at all. After applying this, you may want to use "stockspl" (see sticky thread) for warranty purpose.
Cheers!
thanks ddl.team but after flashing, it says: Your OS ROM isn't customized for your hardware. Please reflash the proper ROM code or contact the service center.
Thank you ddl.team. After flashing, I receive the same message "Your OS isn't customized for your hardware."
me 2
HI I recive that message to, the big problem is that I can't install another ROM after this, I tried to flash hard spl 1 and 2 but it has no effect. Please give me a solution.
Okay. This ROM has the official Radio, IPL, SPL and Splash. If required, remove those using HTC ROM Image Editor and try to reflash. Make sure your SPL is 2.00.cmon (use HardSPL first). Then after flasing this, go back to stockspl.

Sorry Mr. Jagan actually i was replaying to mr.menix , He is having problem after flashing this rom.
Alright, no need to be sorry.
thanks
thanks but is not working, i'v broken my phone with this version ROM.
For people who have issues with this ROM, flash a different ROM using the method described in the thread "HOW TO: Flash ROMS via an SD Card to your Opal".
This ROM was dumped from an HTC Touch Viva T2223 and is 100% original and untouched. I am not sure why this is not working for some of you. I have flashed this on my Viva twice now without any issues.
After flashing this ROM, I get the following:
OBNL 1.57.0000
SPL 1.26.0000 (post applying stockspl; was 2.00.cmon before)
GSM 03.29.90
OS 1.35.0.0

Cannot apply stockspl. SPL 2.00.cmon still remains. I guess that is the problem, but I don't know how to revert to SPL 1.26. I tried everything, but 2.00.cmon is still there .
Thank you anyway.
Tools to dump ROM
Sorry if I am posting in the wrong thread, but are there any tools to backup the original SPL and ROM before we start flashing the cooked ROMS? As with this any unknown issues can be ruled out in case if we need to revert back to the stock ROM.
Thanks in advance.
I wanted to upgrade from Artemis rom v15 to v22 so I did. Suddenly I have issues with freezing and hard resets. I find out that I need HSPL 1.66.
So I tried installing HSPL2 and it gives me an error, something about invalid id.
I try HSPL and it did something because now I have SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE showing up in bootloader.
But I'm told it's not what I need and 1.66 is what I need. I can't seem to uninstall HSPL firstly and I also don't know any other way to get to 1.66!
I've even tried SSPL and it doesn't work
dont worry about it. its fine as it now is with 2.08.hspl
hspl2 wont work on telstra. Use hspl3 (which i assume you did to get 2.08.hspl) and you can now stop worrying. All roms will work fine on 2.08.hspl, the recommendation to match the spl to the rom doesn't really matter.

thanks for the reply and the info. I ended up getting the stock Telstra rom back on via straight SD flash and decided to try SSPL and it flashed ok so far.
After I flashed 2.08 Artemis said "I think you have problem Sir
My suggestion is, first to solve HSPL problem (post to HSPL thread)
or use SSPL (remove HSPL first)...". So I guess that's what I did.
Right now I seem to have 1.42.6666 showing up. Do you know how I can get to 1.66?

If your spl in bootloader ends...
.0000 = stock
.hspl = hspl installed
.6666 = rom was flashed using sspl. This is not permanent, single flash only, you need to use SSPL each time you flash
You can't flash radios with SSPL, so you may have trouble with cooked roms that require a particular radio. (Roms with the 576 RAM unlocked, for example, require you change your radio, which is almost certainly why artemis rom failed)
you cant get to 1.66.hspl directly with a telstra,
(well, you can, using the ''HSPL2 on telstra'' workaround,, , its posted in the rom dev section)
however I can promise you you will be just as well using hspl3, and installing 2.08.hspl
