Warning: Take this with a grain of salt. I got this info from a sales rep at a corporate t-mobile store.
So I went to a t-mobile store over the weekend, I had a issue with my back cover, and asked about any new batteries. The guy gave me a new back cover and a 2nd battery to hold me over until the new ones came out. He told me starting next week, the new G1s will be shipping with a better extended battery, and should be starting a replacement program for current g1 owners. I just hope its true.
lol i just bought an extended 2200mAh battery ><
ah well, only cost me £15. sure hope i get another one though

I am sure you can still find his email if you used paypal and pass it over to him. just an idea.
his e-mail (or the company's email) is [email protected] good old paypal
also, the battery as £10 with £5 delivery.
delivery time was a bit ****.
I doubt this.
I know that randomly you can get some quick help from T-mo stores when it comes to extra phone parts laying around, but I was having issues with my phone back (grey one) fading to some brownish color.
I called to see if they would cover it under warranty and I was told that they do not stock any battery covers for warranty replacements.
IF they were to warranty a phone, they would have you send them the phone and that I would keep the battery and battery cover.
Since this would not fix my problem, they said they would have to replace the whole phone.
(Since my phone is rooted), I did not want to do this so I told them it was poor service to make me send in my whole phone for a battery back cover which I could get from HTC (which was in stock) for 15.00 + S&H.
So the Rep at the PDA support spoke with his supervisor and credited my account with the cost of replacing the battery back.
Long story short, if they can't even replace the battery or phone w/o sending the WHOLE phone back, then why would they even have extra of either laying around.
P.S. I went with the black back, no point in it fading again. It also looks kinda like a Storm Trooper now.
I walked in and showed them the back of my phone, and they grabbed a replacement back cover for me. But I did got to a corporate store.
the battery replacment program may not be too far off. when i had my wing a new battery got sent to me by T-Mo...........saying that some had experienced overheating problem and such.
the pacakge arrived out of no where.........all i had to do to not be charged was send back the old battery.
so it may come to fruition for our G1's

Don't know if this has been posted before (did a search for battery replacement didn't find any article abt it), just surfing the net trying to find battery for my Tilt and found those information about the Wing, thought to share with all Wing users.

thanks for the info its time to get me a new battery
Funny thing is, just a couple weeks ago out of no where and not prompted by me at all, Tmobile sent me a new battery for my Wing. It has a small bend in the corner but it seems usable. I don't see myself using it for quite some time as my battery now is perfect but i guess I have a backup whenever I need it!
i didn't receive a battery maybe mine isn't a dynapack, too lazy to get up and look.
even though this isn't rom related it is very important information. I would like to know what date and how to tell if your pack is a dynapack though.

If you just open your case it says at the top of the battery. So, how do you go about getting a replacement battery? Call Tmobile and complain about my battery overheating?
Here is my battery and I still haven't received a replacement. My phone has never even been left in the heat or anything. It expanded to more than double its original size and broke the back cover to where I had to purchase a new cover. Should I be able to contact them about a new one cuz I've heard of ppl trying that and T-Mobile plays dumb about it.
EDIT: I also only use the supplied charger and usb cable.

I called tmobile last night, and said my battery was overheating, and that I saw online there was a recall on the dynapack batteries. After being transferred to about 6 different people, I was finally transferred to HTC's support number. Unfortunately, it was closed, so I plan on calling today and seeing what they say. From what I understand, they know about this issue, so they should just end out a new one. I'll report back after I call.

Good deal man hopefully they actually have customer service unlike t mobile. I dont use that battery anymore once it expanded and broke the back cover and the actual phone where it holds the back cover. So I had to use the warranty and im on my second one now. After taking it out it kept expanding more and more and is now about 3/4 of an inch thick. The cell inside is like a huge bubble!

Well, just got off the phone with tmobile, and they sent me to HTC's support. They checked the serial number and it was outside the warranty so they said they couldn't do anything for me. They suggested to purchase a new battery. I'm at work, so I really didn't have time to get into it with them, and I would think if I spoke with a supervisor and told them they didn't want a lawsuit, they should replace it. Either way, no luck so far, but I might call back later after work.

Yeah I don't get it either....I guess I'm going to have to call and speak with a manager and let em have it. It's just a hassle though.
Dude i've never called T-Mobile without it being a hassle. Of course I never WANTED to stay on the phone for an hour, but I think i've been on the phone AT LEAST 40 minutes the 3-4 times i've had to call them. You would think they get paid to transfer. It's all they do, lol. I read somewhere on here (and other places) that you could get the wing for like $100 with a "Windows Mobile" promotional code. I called and spoke to a customer service rep. about it and she said the code was accepted. It worked. I said what plan I wanted and that I wanted unlimited text/data. She made it happen and I got my phone a few days later. I waited a few days and then called back to make sure I got the deal I said I was going to get. Basically every person I spoke to said they are "sorry" that it happened and whatever else. So instead of me paying between $150-200 to get the phone + activate it, I had to pay like $400-450 regular price. A big difference, especially when you're trying to save for a down payment on a new car. So I had to send it back and cancel the service. And I was forced to pay like a $50-55 bill when I wanted to re-open my account this time around a month or so ago. And I only used the phone for like 2 days at that time too! It was a big hassle.

Dude, that sucks. I used the windows mobile promo and I got the wing for 50 dollars, with a 1 year contract and a free blue-tooth.
Mabey it did not work for you because you called a custormer rep and not the promotion hotline. I forgot the number but the first time I called I got some B**** who was telling me this 90 day crap. Then I kept on calling till I got this cool guy who told me what i needed to do. A few days later my wing arrived! ps i brought the code on ebay for $5.

I havent really seen where they are cheap. When I had verizon with the unlimited (fast)internet it costed less than my t mobile with no internet. Its a family plan w/ 2 lines. I dunno.... as soon as my contract is up I'm a goner, hell by then i'll be deployed anyway so its cool....

Yeah, they are still doing it. I would call immediately. Eventually, they will transfer you to HTC's service. THey have a way of checking the purchase date from the serial number on your phone. BTW, you will have to call from another phone....but I would do it now before it's out of warranty.
If anyone hasn't heard yet or hasn't visited allshadow.com recently, starting on Monday you can call T-Mobile and get a free extended battery with the proper back cover to fit your Shadow.
Some people have been having problems with getting T-Mobile reps to order it for them and most others hasn't had any problems, such as myself. There are a couple threads over at allshadow.com if you would like to read up more on this. Stay Cool ppl. Later....
i ordered mine already its free with ground shiping
Hey,
Ordered the new HTC extended battery on Monday at 2 PM and got it Thursday 11 AM. Talk about fast ground shipping.
I kind of don't like the fact that it's impossible to lock the battery in place without the cover. But who really cares, it's free, and gives me more POWER!!! (Battery Life).
Thanks T-Mobile, now can we get a discounted Shadow 2? I wish
I actually got mine yesterday, everything free! It's alright and not as bulky as i thought, and will definately help improve battery life.
Called and ordered mine on Monday and got it Wednesday. In fact, I got two - one for each color. I don't know why...

First time I called everything seemed to go smoothly, the rep went through the script telling me I would get a extended battery and new battery cover, confirmed color, asked what type of shipping and so on. 3 days later I got a regular battery - a little dissapointed. Called back and went the the steps again, rep told me not to worry about sending back the battery I just received, I am tempted to anyway since I will more than likely never use it. 3 days later I received the extended battery with the new cover. Other than the size, I am very happy with the battery. I FINALLY went through an entire day without the battery almost dying. On a normal day my old battery would get down to about 10% remaining by 10pm, this extended battery was at about 60% remaining last night. Awesome.

yes it is still valid. I just ordered mine.
They said I wasn't eligable for this offer, does anyone want to try to order an extra one, or if they no longer use their shadow want to send me their extended battery and cover, I don;t care what color the back cover is...
i just finished ordering mine free 3day shipping also i ordered my shadow a couple of day ago and it didnt come with the extended battery so they said they would send me one and not charge the shipping.
I just got mine in the mail, I also got one in the box with my shadow.SCORE!! Came 3 day shipping UPS with a new back also.
On the phone with T-Mobile Now
They transferred me to blackberry & pda support. Make sure you tell them it is not keeping a charge if they ask. I never put my sim card in this phone, so it did not show up on my account, make suer it registers on T-Network. Tell them its not keeping a charger, order it and you're done. Still on the phone with them, put me on hold, lets see if they finish the order. Now they asked to verify if the Shadow is under warranty, and requested the IMEI number. Was just told the Shadow is not under warranty. Warranty is only good on the original user.
So I asked for a Unlock Code for the Shadow. Will be emailed in 24 hours.
At Least I got something.
Damn't.
Got it ordered! Don't know if it was worth that phone call though.
Why is it always a pain in the butt to talk to Tmobile support???? Took 5 minutes just to authorize my account and then he hung up trying to transfer me to PDA support. I called back finally after 10 minutes I got someone in PDA support. She could not find any info on which phones I had. She said half of the form for my account is blank. 10 minutes of hearing her type and then finally she said o here it is. We will send it out today. Then her head set started shorting out when she was reading the end user agreement. Can you hear me?? Hello are you there?? Say again? What? JUST SAY YES!!! Yes. Thanks sir have a good day....
Doesn't have to be PDA support, customer service can order the battery for you too.... is what i've heard.... but I had the same trouble, warranty not verified.
warranty be damned, I need a battery. extended one at that.
Got it ordered AGAIN
They sent me a normal replacement battery. Called them back and was told there is only one battery made for the shadow. I directed him to a couple websites and forums showing otherwise. He checked with a few of his fellow employees and searched around on his system and finally after 15 minutes he said he found it. So we will wait and see what I get this time.
Just got my battery yesterday. It adds ~5 mm to the size of the phone, but it makes it easier to hold with one hand IMHO. I haven't had much time to test the better battery life yet, but it seems to deplete charge much slower than it used to (as expected).
i bought desktop dock with spare battery charger for a Sprint HTC Touch Pro
got it in the mail today.
it charges the phone, and i guess the battery charger works, the indicator light sucks however. it's always lit green even when a battery isnt in it.
and the dock doesnt sync to the computer like it should.
i got it to do it once, but it wont do it again.
its dumb.
completely disappointed after waiting 2 weeks for this.
i filed a claim with them and i want a full refund.
the silicon case i bought was also terrible. rubber was cut jaggedly and looked as if it was ripped.
just terrible.

That's bad - unusual for them too... I've been using them for years now since my first Pocket PC phone which was a Siemens SX45 (look that one up!). Always had great service out of them, and courteous responses to my email. When I ordered my eeePC crystal case I got the wrong one by accident and they immediately sent me the right one no questions asked, and once the clip form my leather case broke after about 3 months, I asked about getting a replacement expecting a cost, and lo and behold a whole new case and clip arrived free of charge!
Give them a chance to sort it out for you.. which cradle did you go for? The basic square one or the new Kidigi one? I have gone for Kidigi and am awaiting it's arrival form them.
well, i didnt say i was unsatisfied with the customer service.
i just contacted them today and waiting to hear back.
so i didnt mean to sound as if i HATED them.
but now i'm debating whether its even worth sending the stuff back and waiting 4-6 weeks.
at least the charger still works. ill just buy another cradle just for the computer i guess.
this is the one i got.

Told ya! LOL NO seriously I'm glad they sorted it for you.
Ok so I lost my battery cover in a bar =/ , I looked around and found this expansys thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3005813
I wasn't sure about expansys and they charge a fortune for Canada shipping. Anyhow I kept looking and just found that:
http://www.msgdigital.com/productdetail.asp?productid=46908
So it's a bit cheaper, shipping to canada is cheaper (still an expensive lost for a freakin cover! )
I am on the pre-order and I am using my old Htc Excalibur in the mean time.
I will update the thread to let people know about my experience since I know it's a pretty popular item with the fuze owner and some people are sick of expansys!
Pre-ordered. Hope they don't pull an Expansys...

I was thinking of that kind of painting when I started to get pissed off of the finger dust on my Fuze... thanks for the info... now i know which paint I'm looking at.
As for the expansys (expensive) case, i got my pre-ordered for $15 (shipping to Canada is way too expensive, so I've asked a friend to do me a favor and ship it to me)
The shipping cost from expansys to Canada is exaggerating (we're talking about $30 for the case + $20 for shipping).... It's stupid. I asked my friend to buy me a $2 bubble envelop and ship it with a stamp
I don't know why people on XDA promote expansys so much, their products are expensive... the service is so so and international shipping is just stupid.

Order got cancelled yesterday, then they said:

This cover is for the Extended 1800mah OEM battery.
I got this one as well, the device is pretty thick and massive. Battery last a good two days with this one compared to a little over a day with the regular one.

See this thread, I presonally got it of eBay with the battery, because alone its useless, the regular battery wont touch the cover and it might move/disconnect

I'll update: I ordered one from msgdigital.com and it arrived quickly. It is great! I love it better than the glossy, especially since I had accidentally scratched the back of my original Fuze battery cover...
I had no problems from MSGDigital.com. Just wanted to post that in light of the problems people had with expansys...
ok so I see you guys are looking for cases and what not, if your just looking to get a better color for your battery cover (black would be my choice) you guys could dye it yourselves without having to spend much money at all, everything you need should be under $2 and it will only take about 20 minutes to do.
All you have to do is go to your local Wal-Mart and buy some RIT dye, the powder kind, then get a pot with water and heat it up enough that it would burn if you stuck your finger in there but not so much that its boiling, then mix the dye in there and sumberge your battery cover completely in there, you don't have to worry about covering or removing the camera lense cover or anything, the dye shouldn't stick to that part of the battery cover and it shouldn't stick to the inside of your battery cover because of the type of material. You should stir the pot with your battery cover in it for 15 minutes then take it out and rinse it under water until all the extra dye has come off. You now should have a black battery cover that looks like it came that color stock. There are some pictures and success stories and basically a run down of what I just said in a thread over at PPC Geeks which is where I usually linger around.
Heres the link, pics and all should be on the first post.

It doesn't seem like HTC asks you over the phone. Do they just get the phone and then charge you if it is an unlocked bootloader?
My phone isn't rooted, but I was asked if I'd rooted it in one of my two warranty swaps.
I'm in the process of doing that now. My rooted phone has been with HTC for a few days and I have not heard anything yet. I'll update when or if I do.
many people on these forumns have without issue.
they charged my $55 for a replacement because of my unlocked b/l.. good for the pople who got away with it though

What was the process that was executed for this? Did they call you? Say something? Did you try and get out of it?
nope. i got my inquiry a couple days after i sent it in and it said that my cost was $55. i called them and they said it was "something i did". but the only thing i would have done was unlock the bootloader. i hadnt dropped it or scratched... basically brand new. so.. much luck you. hopefully you dont get flamed for trying to rip HTC off, like me in the other thread i started haha

I'm not trying to rip them off. I will not hide it if I'm asked and I haven't been so far. What do you mean you got your "inquiry"?
I'm sending mine next week just for the dust under the screen problem. why are you guys sending yours?
Because of my atrocious battery. Although, they offered to send a free battery if I thought mine was bad.
Has anyone returned it for a full refund (or minus $55) with an unlocked boot loader? I wouldn't mind doing that and picking up the Milestone instead.

First (new) phone had a problem with the g sensor and an ill-fitting bottom plastic bit.
Second (first swap) phone had a blue tint to the screen, and a very noticeable blue tint in the bottom fourth or fifth of the screen. Also a dead pixel.
Third (second swap) phone has a much better screen, but still a bit of noticeable blue tint along the bottom edge. Also, the horizontal g sensor is off by quite a bit, and it has the same ill-fitting bottom plastic issue the first had, only much less annoying than the first.
I'm calling tomorrow to do a third swap, hoping this one won't have any issues. If it does, I'll keep whichever is better, and wait a few months before doing another swap. Maybe some of the later AT&T batches won't have the same kinds of problems.
Even with all that, this is the best phone I've ever had. I'm just being super picky after forking over $530. The swaps have been easy; I get a new one overnighted and then send the old one back in the same box with a fedex label htc provides. I have zero complaints about the service, I just wish I'd gotten a perfect phone in the beginning. =)

The Milestone also has the dust problem. I came from a Telus Milestone because it got a speck of dust and I was afraid more would get in. Now I have a speck of dust under my Nexus but it is really small and no more has gotten in.

Well, if battery is an issue couldn't just have replaced your battery? That would cause no concern over the phone itself, so maybe they haven't checked the bootloader yet...

The battery wasn't replaced as I confirmed with them as it wasn't the battery.

Hmmm.. I'm having trouble with my N1 as well, but I'm reluctant to send it in in fear that they'll charge 55 dollars over the unlocked bootloader just to repair just the power button.
