Has anyone used Lotus Notes Traveler with Blackstone?
I am using the Notes traveler 8.5 in manual mode (to save battery and data traffic). Hoever I noticed the problem that there is significant contacts update between PDA and Notes server. Even when contacts are not changed, there are usually some updates...
I also dual sync the contacts to my home PC's Outlook. There are also significant conatcts updates to Notes traveler when I sync my contacts to the Outlook (after clearing all contacts in Outlook).
Will like to hear others' experiences...

I've just started using the Outlook Domino connector to enable me to use Outlook to access our Lotus Notes server, and more importantly, sync my Notes inbox, calendar etc with the i-mate without other third-party software (I was previously using mNotes from CommonTime which didn't totally satisfy my needs).
Whilst I'm now thrilled with the Outlook/Notes/i-mate sync scenario, which is working beyond my expectations, I'm a little hesitant to set up my Activesync to Exchange Server Account (from Club i-mate) which I also use for private email because I'm unsure whether this dual server via Activesync scenario will work (and I can't jeopardize my Notes mail / calendar integrity to check).
So, has anybody tried using Activesync to syncronize with their PC's Outlook inbox / calendar etc, PLUS a server sync with Exchange? What happens? Do you just end up with two Inbox items in Activesync? Does all your email etc from all accounts end up in the same PPC inbox (and then both accounts)?
Any first-hand experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Hi,
it is not possible to do both with ActiveSync. If you configure ActiveSync for server sync it no longer synchronizes with Outlook locally.
You can use IMAP or POP3 for your additional accounts, I am using Exchange for my main account and IMAP for other accounts and it works fine.
Okay Softworkz, that's what I was afraid of.
Unfortunately Clubimate don't allow POP (or IMAP) access for member email, so it's one or the other for me then.
Thanks for your comment.
Ooooh interesting - what was up with mNotes? =) Version 3.5 is out soon by the way - and I'm working on some stuff for our new website..
Hi Madkat,
I used mNotes on my original XDA and now my i-mate with great success for ages, until I made the mistake of creating categories for my contacts. Once I happened mis-type a category name and that was when I discovered that I couldn't delete them - at all.
No matter what I did I couldn't stop rogue categories from appearing in the drop-down list. After removing all contacts from the rogue category, and then deleting it on the i-mate (or Notes, it didn't matter), the rogue category would still appear in the drop-down list, and in the add / remove categories sceen as [category name] (not in master category list), or words to that effect. I also played around with the mNotes config app which is installed on the device (which was just about all I could find in the user manual relating to categories), but the manual didn't match what was installed (guess it hadn't been updated for that section), and I wasn't successful.
I actually posted a question on xda-developers about it, but wasn't able to sort it out. I just became frustrated in the end. I'm not sure I'd go back to it now because I'm so impressed with the Outlook Domino Connector and not having to use Notes for my e-mail at work - I hate notes as an email client, especially with all the 'customisations' our IT jerks have done; we don't have rights to do anything - can't even create rules to move mail to other folders based on content anymore. It's a shame they don't upgrade to Notes 6, but there you go.
TBH I hate Notes as a mail client too!! If I didn't have to do any Notes development I'd be using IMAP on the Domino server & Thunderbird on my PC.
I think it is worth mentioning, though, that during your 30-day evaluation you are entitled to full tech support by email and/or phone - bit late now though! D'OH.
i just do not want to open another topic....
i have a pc with win xp and ms outlook... ms outlook is set up with an exchange server for all items (email, calendar, tasks etc)
is it possible to sync, via activesync, my windows mobile device with the content of ms outlook on my pc? the purpose is to have the same calendar, tasks and contacts on my phone WM device also...
thanks
I know this is prob a daft question...
Am I right in thinking if my Universal is syncing the Contacts, Appointments, Tasks and E-mails with my Exchange server. Then its not possible to make it sync Contacts, Appointments and Tasks with another PC that isn't connected to the same Exchange Server?
I know this may sound daft, but I could really do with my Appointments ETC from my work pc on my Universal.
Thanks,
David.
I'd like to understand this as well.
I have a XDA Exec and a Wizard connecting to a paid for exchange account for my contacts etc. However on my Exec I also have Activesync set to sync my contacts with two PCs (work and home laptop) whereas on my Wizard I cannot have multiple selections for calender, just syncing with exchange.
This is a real mystery to me and I would really like to understand exchange syncing a little and how best to set up my two devices and various PCs I want to sync with.
Sync Contacts, Calendar and Tasks with 2 Exchange
Heya.
I used my home ExchangeServer for Pushmail (not only mail; calendar, tasks and contacts also).
In addition to my home exchange i synced my office exchange with the same phone. Worked without real problems.
You need to change following registry-value on the phone:
1. Go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync
2. Change the value EnableNonLocalcrossPollination from 0 to 1
3. Now you can check your second calendar, tasks and contacts, but only in ActiveSync on the Phone
Now the greyed-out fields (see attachment) aren't greyed-out anymore...
On your computer you can't do this settings...
But there are two issues:
- you can only sync the mails from one of the both accounts
- you need to sync the second account by usb-cable...
Best Regards
Peter
Hi guys,
how cai I sync me Jam's notes with Outlook?
I'm tryin' to sync my Jam's notes but I can't see the notes in Outlook...
Works fine for me using Outlook to Pocket Informant - check your settings on your ativesync on the PC - maybe you did not check the box to sync the Notes.
I made some test and I found the problem: I usually store the notes of my jam in the storage card and in that way the notes doesn't sync with outlook.
I change the storing setting to main memory and it works!
Is it possible to use the storage card to store the notes and sync it up with outlook?
Hi all,
I'm using Lotus Traveler for mail and calendar sync with our Domino server. Everything works just fine except one thing...
When I create a new appointment/meeting in my calendar in Lotus Notes client and then synchronize it with my Blackstone, I can see all details in HTC Sense calendar. But when someone else invite me, I cannot see any details regarding this calendar entry, just subject and time - no room specification, no atendees etc.
A workaround is to use Windows calendar as I can see all details in it.
Could anyone help me please how to fix this?
Thanks,
Vladino
I read the area in the manual directing me towards the people section. Can't figure it out. Can someone please help me? Thanks.
From my experience, you have to export everything and then import them all at windowsphone.live.com. For example, if you want all of your contacts, export them all into a .csv file, and them import it from live.com.
I don't know if this is the same problem that you had, but when I connected my phone to sync, all of the contacts from my outlook went over to my phone but none of my phone contacts (from my old sim) wen over to my outlook. The solution to this is the microsoft outlook connector. All of the transferred contacts on the phone are registered as windows live contacts and so unless you have linked your windows live account to yout outlook then the contacts will not travel from your phone to Outlook. All you have to do is to open up outlook, and at the top click on outlook connector and then add account. This will bring up a new window in which you fill in your information and it will then link your account and create a new contact list for your phone (windows live) contacts. A little convaluted I know, but it worked for me.

Thank you so much.
Microsoft Outlook Connector
Is this like Active Sync? And is this the only way to transport contacts from my computer to my phone?
CompanionLink
There is a product called CompanionLink which allows you to sync calendar and contacts between Outlook and WP7 (can't submit the URL, but it is the product name .com) - it works with Outlook 2000-2010 (even the x64 version of 2010).
Basically, what it does is run as a separate app. You have to have a Gmail account to use this because the app will take data from your existing non-Gmail account, sync it with Gmail and then your phone syncs with that Gmail account. It is bidirectional so that changes you make on the phone will end up back in Outlook.
It is a bit pricey - $40 for the basic app and OMGWTF for the Professional version which allows you to sync with multiple calendars. Still, at the moment it seems to be a reasonably elegant solution to a major hole in functionality.

Wow. What happened to the good old days with Active Sync? I am surprised there is hardly any information to be found regarding synchronization with Outlook.
The other issue is paying $40 and opening a gmail account.
Tahnks for your help. Anyone else have any suggestions? Any business users?
How about Samsung Kies?
Has anyone used this for the Focus?
