Hi All
I'm very happy with the diamond so far, it runs like a kitten, but I have just one annoying problem, which I don't seem to be able to solve.
As soon as I download my email, it automatically erases my old mail and it doesn't matter if I read it or not.
So if I put my mail on automatic pickup every hour, then I got one hour to read them, or they get erased.
I tried to change the setting for erasing from server and leave them there, but for some reason, it won't erase the mail from the server, just my phone.
Anyone recognizes this
please help
Does nobody have problems with their email?
please, any answer is alright, I just want to know if it is normal that the phone erases all my email while sending/receiving, or that I should to the configuration some more.
In the account settings, you have an option to sync mails that are older then X days.
Cant remember what it's on out of the box but you can change it to all messages so it won't remove older mails.
I had a hard time finding this setting so here are the details for anyone who is interested. The setting is in the ActiveSync settings, not in the email settings. Open ActiveSync, click Menu, click Options, Hi-light Email, Click Settings, then choose which option you want from the drop down menu next to "Download the past:". I was very glad to find this change.

HI,
this is probibly a stupid question, I have reset my o2 xda twice, I want to create a new email, but when I click on new nothing happens, I can not view existing emails either, the emails are downloading to the PDA, and it updates my pop3 account when i delete them.
Is anyone else having this issue?
thanks in advance
J
when i use a pop account, i can read all mail after connecting to my maibox and delete it on the JJ but it dosent remove it from the server, so when i get home my pc properlly downloads it and removes it from isp's mail server
sounds like the opposite of yours, i like it this way tho, roaming i can still reply and my desktop will collect it all at some point.
wifi
I am doing this connected through wifi, have not being brave enough yet to try this with the gprs / 3g, what are your connections that you had to setup to get it workign on the JJ?
yer im wifi for it to.......the only way to fly!
so let me get this right you have a pop3 account setup that gets your new emails and you can reply to them and create/send new ones? I am unable to view or forward the mails, think i have something wrong woth settings, do not have the ability to do the MMS mesages either.
sounds like, you did the reset before the extended rom installed itself, and not run all the small cabs.
how would i get that back? do you know, or have I screwed it up i have switched from active to the basic to try and see if that fixed it.
hard reset has given the ability to read an email and the mms, obviouly too hasty to play with my toy. ps to hard reset hold the twop option keys near the call start / end buttons and press the softreset with stylus.
Is it possible to setup outlook on the the universal to check for new emails automatically every x minutes?
I could have sworn I've seen the setting before, but I can't find it now.
Having the new t-mobile unlimited gprs will mean I don't have to worry about a push email service if I can set this up properly
In "Messages" goto Options, select the account, at step 4/4 click options
Thanks beachmeat, will that check even if outlook isn't running (like text messages do) or do I have to leave outlook running?
Itll do it on its own as far as I remember, just try it
Thanks
You need to have Outlook running, in memory is OK, as long as you do force it to close - no problem.
The other thing is that when you click the X to close the program you must leave the account on the account you to check, if you have a text message come in, it will not check unless you change it back.
It's not a very good method really.

You want to upgrade to the A2DP/Push Email QTEK ROM....
Instant Push Email and full over the air syncing with your outlook for FOUR QUID A MONTH.
Hi all,
I 've got the Qtek9100, and with both the default rom it shipped with and the custom Tmobile 2.17 ROM I've had this problem. I use Gmail on my phone via pop3, and my problem is that the phone is constantly deleting my old email messages. Its not sending them to the deleted items folder, but removing them from my inbox as though they never existed. Have any of you encountered this problem or know of a way to fix this? Thanks.
I have a Cingular 8125 and I have the same problem. After I close the email its gone!
Same problem here too.
set to get first 999kB of message.. it is the only work around that i found
Loosing Emails.
I had this type of problem with SMS's and emails - basically anything with Pocket Outlook.
The solution was to Close outlook fully (not with the 'x') before soft-resetting the phone. Pocket outlook does not seen to write the new emails to it's database until the app is closed. (i.e running programs - stop program)..
Since I started closing outlook fully before soft-resetting I have not lost 1 message.

Actually, closing outlook fully does not stop email from being deleted. This happens even when I don't soft reset the phone. I'll try getting the first 999kb of a message, though I worry that this could fill my phone quickly if I don't pay attention. Also, I don't have this problem with SMS messages.
I figured it out.
Under Tools -> options in Pocket Outlook is an option to "Display messages from last x days only." I've unchecked that, so here's hoping that takes care of the problem. Hope it helps everyone else who had this problem.

I had this unchecked already, and I still have the same problems.
Any other ideas?
Here si the fix on the HTC and disappearing emails
1 start/message/click email account/menu/tools/options/tap email account/edit account setup/next/next/next/next/next/download message 3 pls days/advance setting/keep them on server/next/ finish
Do this for all accounts
Now go to your computer and outlook tools/email accounts/view or change email account/next/change/ more settings/advanced/leave copy on server/ how many days is up to you
You must do this for all you accounts on that computer. then do the same to all the computer you use to get the same e-mails.
I'm running the leaked version of the Cingular rom and while I know this isn't final I was kinda hoping that some things would get fixed. One of them being the missing email problem.
After a few hours receiving a email it just disappears into thin air!!!!! and yes I have it set to always show emails no matter how old they are..
Where are my emails going? I want to keep ALL my emails until I decide to delete them..
Anyone got any suggestions? I have tried everything and nothing works..
Out of curiosity am I the only one on a 8525 that has this problem?
Have you used the site search, and tried the retrieve 999kb header fix?
Yes and they still dissapear..
I have tried everything..
i too am having this problem. you are not alone. guess now i will be trying out 3rd party mail clients for the time being. everything else with the upgrade is fantastic so im not going back
This is still an issue with me also. Using a verizon pop3 account.
Incorrect Settings...??

In order to help, we need to know what pop account you are using... for instance, I had this problem with Gmail messages disappearing after a couple of hours to a day... found out that there is a non published setting that appears when using the phone's auto config feature... Let me explain...
when setting up the pop3 account for gmail, the settings are as included on their website... problem is that I have my outlook connected at home and constantly checking messages, and is configured to leave messages on server.... But with the other machine pulling the messages, for some reason they disappear on my TyTN even though I have it set to grab messages for the last 7 days...
what the auto config feature has done was to add "recent:" without the quotes in front of my account name, so it reads "recent:[email protected]"... Once that was done, my messages stopped automatically disappearing... Try it, what do you have to lose that you haven't lost already...

The first setup I edited out the "recent" and had the disappearing mail problem - I deleted that email account and ran the setup again leaving the "recent:" text in and bingo my Gmail works as it should on my P3600i.
Thanks for the tip.
PS. The only bug now is that the mail that I sent also appears in the Inbox - is there a way to correct this?
I was wondering if its possible to get pushmail for gmail without using outlook ?
Is this possible ? Am I supposed to use IMAP or POP mail ?
Please help, thanks
If you setup mail, it will automatically setup for IMAP.
You configure for how often it checks the server.
Thanks I just did that, but the problem is it checks every 5 minutes, thats not exactly push mail is it ?? It should have the option "As mail arrives"
I tried deleting an email from my inbox, but when I check online, its still there (the actual gmail inbox) .. it seems they are not really in function are they ?
EDIT : Okay The messages got deleted in the browser inbox after 5 minutes ... So the email syncs every 5 minutes
How can I make it an instant connection (pushmail) ??
Actually Outlook Mobile 2007/2010 still pulls from IMAP instead of receiving pushes (Microsoft doesn't exactly know about IDLE). You'll want to set up an Exchange connection. See here for more details about Google Sync.
You'll want to configure the server manually. You can find ActiveSync somewhere into your Start menu, otherwise just go to the Sense settings tab, Data Service and ActiveSync to configure the server, then follow the instructions from the link above.
Thank you very much, that worked, and I can choose "As item arrives" now
One last thing, is it possible to change the email name from Outlook to something else ? e.g. Gmail ?
ZaZu90, what domain did you choose while configuring the connection? I can't click next unless I choose a domain, since the activesync software is different and probably newer than the one used in the google instructions...
I followed Yunabeco's link, the domain was left blank.
You have to initiate the email settings from active sync, not from adding a new account.
Check the intsturctions ^^
Yes I am trying to do the same but as I said I cannot leave the domain blank, i HAVE to fill in something in order to continue configuring the connection...
And apparently I am not the only one with this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5382949&postcount=4
Hmm this is strange, does it have to do with the location of purchase ?
Im not sure :S
I don't think it has to do with the location of purchase. Thanks for your help though. I am using dutty's holy grail 0.3a rom (wm6.5 build 21889, Base 2.01). What are you using?
Chaps,
have you had a look at this ....http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138636
Might help you.

Yea, that's the same document as earlier in this thread, but the problem is that the instructions don't work on some devices.. see the previous page
I just did the Push Mail setup (used the link from Yunabeco post)
I had no problem with the instructions, but for some reason it will only get the mail when I do an ActiveSync.
The ActiverSync chedule is set to sync during Peak times (As Items arrive) and off-peak times (As Items arrive).
The Use above settings and Send/Receive when I click Send) are als set to on.
Did I miss a setting as it's not working for me the way it should, or do I need to set something in my Gmail account also?

Barty,
Surprised at this. I set this up the other day on my device in order to talk someone through it and it worked. Deleted it as I don't need push mail right now.
Wondered if those who can't get it working can put down the steps they have taken to setup on their devices and we can see how we can help?

I wonder if its possible to set up multiple push mail accounts ?
Gonna search for that now, if anyone got a link before I finish my little research, please add it !
