Hi,
does anybody know how to make a backup of the stock quotes, so that if you flash a new rom, they are easily placed back?
thanks
Try backing up:
\Application Data\HTC\ygo
Not sure if it will work though
Steve
Thanks i'll try
gonna flash a new rom now, I will report back with the results
Backed up the ygo folder and placed it back after flashing my new rom. It works like a charm, all my stocks are back in place. Thanks a lot!

Try SPB back up. Its a trail but you will only need it once every time you do a flash. You can use it to make complete system restore
thanks fer the info! but will the backup work if i upgrade from build 21XXX to 23XXX?

Yes there is a special mode for system upgrades. Just give it a try sometime. The program is as good as it gets

It depends on what you are trying to backup - for PIM data, emails, text messages and documents it works fine even with ROM upgrades.
But if I use it for system data, I have to be really careful - sometimes certain registry settings really mess up Sense and programs... also, let's say you install software (e.g. Google Maps) because your earlier ROM didn't include it; but if it is cooked in your new ROM then it isn't useful to restore it from the backup.
So what I rather suggest is you figure out how to backup data/settings from each application and restore it after flashing (e.g. for Cookie Home Tab, the editor has a way to export the settings; some applications create a file to save the data, etc.). You will need a good registry editor (pref. PC based) to do this though

Every time i go to restore my last rom i get an error saying: run 'nandroid-mobile.sh restore' via console!
if anyone could help me i don't want to have to re download all of my crap and stuff and would like to be able to switch roms without having to worry about this again.
Thanks for your help

That usually happens because there is not enough room on the SD card. try deleting some stuff and try again.
it ran for about 20 seconds and did the same thing
This is the generic error message from nandroid, make sure you haven't manually changed any file/folder names on your sd card. Also, ensure you have space on your SD card. I am getting the same message because it is not liking my ext partition, which I suspect is because it doesn't like ext4.
I think i renamed the file or deleted it and made a new one
is there a way i could make a folder and make it work
I knew someone that was having this problem. He ended up switching out his sdcards and it started working...Also which recovery and version are you using?

Make a new nandroid with what you got loaded right now, then move your old one into that folder and you're good to go. I had the same issue when I got a replacement hero and this did the trick for me
Thanks for your efforts. This step-by-step instruction is really help!

Seems pretty straight forward though.

Thanks for the tutorial.
Do you have any tips for switching from a ROM with Sense to one without? I am thinking about trying a more stable ROM because the Sense seems to be causing me issues.
Would the Sense related settings be crossed out, and I would uncheck the crossed out options during the restore? Did I understand that correctly from the video?
Also, you touched on the Apps installed from the market. Do you have to install those manually? Or, will Titanium Backup restore those for you?
In need of help
I have hd2 running gingerbread from magldr and would like to switch back to the original rom so i can send it in for warranty .. any help would be greatly appreciated.....thanks
Nice guide, many thanks from me too!!!
Don't forget to backup the SD Card
One other thing that is probably worth pointing out: Once you have backed everything up, you should probably copy it off the SD card to another computer. I read somewhere about someone doing something that wiped out their SD card, and they lost their backups on it.
To back it up, I copied the TitaniumBackup directory from the SD card to my laptop. Also, I copied the clockworkmod directory because i had backed up the ROM as a whole from the AD Recovery.

Advanced Restore of Data for installing after a Rom upgrade
Very detailed with Pictures You can follow
I love the fact I can reliably and precisely backup and restore a ROM flashed through CWR. It will backup every minute detail and restore it back to the exact condition it was in at backup...not even a single icon missing or different. Even the exact point in a song that was playing when the ROM shut down and I backed it up is restored. And I have been doing these a lot without a hitch.
I like to check out new and other ROMs and I'll backup my current ROM and then do Task 29 and flash the new ROM. I take the backed-up ROM, which is saved on the SD card in one single, specifically named, folder and archive it on my PC. Then I flash the new ROM. If I like that new ROM, I back it up and save the backup on my PC. If I don't like it, I do Task 29, reinstall magldr and the specific recovery file for the backed-up ROM and then copy the archived backup back to the SD card and flash it. Super simple and it puts it back like it never was removed. It's a helluva lot better than Titanium Backup. CWR backup is more akin to a Star Trek transporter where it puts it back exactly like it was before...lol...And it has been so perfectly reliable. Not even a hiccup has been noticed and I've done it a bunch of times.

Hi,
Great idea.
However, people being people, and noobs being noobs, you might want to change picture 11 on MS WORD sheet to "restore"and "restore" rather than "restore"and "backup".

They're stored in a folder on your SD card. If I'm not mistaken it's /clockworkmod/backup
Hello everyone. I have been testin a rom called miui, and now I found it great and I am going to keep it. The problem is that the test I made were with a borrowed 16GB SD card, and now I would like to replace it with my definitive 16 GB class 6 SD card. How can I do this without having to reinstall and configure everything?
This procedure seems to be the right one, but I have a question, does it save everything you have in your SD card?, if this is afirmative, then I have a problem, because I won´t have enough space in the SD to make the backup file.. what can you recomend me to do?.
Best regards and thank you very much for all your support
Hi All,
I apologize im a noob just learning my way around android and was wondering how to perform this update properly without messing anything up. I have done some searching and found some brief explanations, but was wondering if someone could possibly give me a little more thorough "how to" explanation on how to update between SD builds. Specifically AmericanAndroid 2.3.5 to the newest 2.3.7 American SD build. From what I understand i have to copy and replace the "old" android folder with the "new" update one and overwrite everything except the data.img file?? if this is correct again, if someone could explain in nooby words id appreciate it! Thanks in advance!!

Yep this is completely correct. Just overwrite all the files but keep the old data.img.

So i just copy and paste new Android folder into the old one, then at that point prompts will come up asking if i want to overwrite them, and click yes to all of them except for data.img?? or is there another method? Do i remove the new data.img file from the new before overwriting? Also, will This will keep all my themes and homescreen configuration the same? or will it wipe out everything? would you happen to know of a thread that explains this in detail by chance? Thanks for your help.

Yeah that works just fine, just make sure you don't overwrite the old data.img or you could lose all your data. In fact, you should probably make a backup of it to guarantee its safety, just copy and paste it onto your hard drive/USB somewhere. Everything will remain the same as before, just the build will be updated with new features from the new version.
