Saving camera's pictures on specific path...

Hi guys!
I configured the camera of my Jam to save the pistures and videos on my SD...
I create My Documents folder on the root of my SD and the camera save the files creating new folder under /Storage Card/My Documents/
That's pretty good but I'd like to configure the camera to put my pictures inside /Storage Card/My Documents/My Pictures/
Is it possible? How can I do it?

Get you're favorite registry editor (i use phmRegEdit) and go to the following key: HKLM\SOFTARE\HTC\Camera\AppDefSettings\Image
You should find an empty value called "SaveFolder". You can change this to whatever you like (even invalid paths but it must be able to get created by the camera app). So if you set it to "\My Pictures" the pics you take will be stored in
(Storage Card)\My Documents\My Pictures\(some dated dir)\(somepicname).(some extension)
as far as i could see the SaveTo DWORD represents the storage location (0 = \My Documents, 1 = Storage card)
What i'd like to have is a tweak that does not create those nasty long dir names... just store the pics in "\My Documents".

There's actually a way to do this (to get rid of the dated folders). The latest T-Mobile WWE ROM 1.12.152 has a latest version 2.70 (Build 20117) Camera for PocketPC app by HTC in its Ext_ROM. This app lets you save pictures and videos to any type of memory on your device (Main, Storage, Storage Card) and DOES NOT create dated folders. It saves pictures directly in \...\My Documents\My Pictures.
Oh, and another thing... It also automatically flips display right (landscape mode, camera button on top) when you activate camera. After exit, it automatically reverts to a portrait mode.

I'm trying with the tip of registry entry but it doesn't works for me:
I open the given registry path and I chenge the SaveFolder entry from empty to this string: "Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures".
I close the reg editor and start the camera.... I made a test picture but it doesn't save the file with msg: "Unable to save the captured image 36001:500:0".
I open the reg edit and I see that in the SaveTo DWORD is present the value 0... I change it in 1 but seems to doesn't save the value! If I open back the reg editor the value is still 0.
Any idea?

no need to do the reg edit, i've been using that camera patch that guy just uploaded for some time now and it works perfectly. just go under options and set the save path to storage card and it automaticly puts in it storage card/my documents/my pictures also it puts teh camera sideways on the screen so its more comfortable to take pics

Just download the .cab file to your device and run it. It will install automaically. :wink:

Just installed that T-Mobile patch to my Qtek S100 (1.12) and it works superbly. It had been annoying me for a while that it made the dated folder each time you took a picture.
Now to solve my MMS issues and I'll be totally happy.

I just install the cab and my Jam is not working fine now....
The today screen is a mix of other applications screen!!!!
Seems to don't pain well the today screen!
If I lounch the camera I see the some settings of the old configuration... I can select wich memory but not the specific folder...
I made soft reset but the problem of the today screen persist.... How can I make a rollback and/or unistall the given CAB?
Please! Help me! I don't want to make hard reset!!!!

Any idea how to save them to the internal ROM, the "storage"???

Hi all again,
Again I thought i would sure the CAB work I'm doing for my Mini.
The second CAB file will install the new Camera app (thanks to "heretic") into the Storage area and not into the RAM (Save smoe space). This will allow you to save the pictures straight into "My Picture" without that extra folder in either Main memory, SD Card or Storage.
I have also added the short cuts needed to replace the original camera app from within the Magician so they point to the camera app installed in Storage.
I have uploaded 2 versions, 1 with the camera app only and the other with the new Album app that comes with the above CAB file from "heretic".
The only issue which i can't iron out is that with the second CAB file (Camera only) if you click on the "Album" icon from within the camera app its comes up with an error (Its looking for the Album app in the same directory as the camera app in Storage). So if you use the internal Album app standard with the Magician then download the first CAB file.
The 1st CAB file will also install the new Camera & Album app into Storage so the error from above goes. I haven't gone through the registry to associate the image files to open with the new version yet but all the shortcuts will point to the new version.
I personal don't use the Album app so i only installed the 2nd CAB file.
Both of these CAB's have the "Snow" fix that i posted before.

Is it possible to get an answer to a simple question, goddammit. How can I set the saving location to the internal ROM (called storage on my device)??? Regedit it, install a tool - whatever, any way to do that?

Start the Camera
Go to the spanner icon in the corner
Go to "Tools">"Options"
you will see a "Save To"
Select Main Memory (this will save in the device)
Select Storage Card (as it says)
The only way to save to the Storage is to install the apps above, the camera program gives you the storage option

Can the 2nd (cam only) be installed into Ram too? And will it overwrite the old version there from the ExtRom?

If you want to install in RAM install the CAB file from "heretic" above, mine install them into Storage. And yes they will replace the old ones

WARNING: BEFORE USING IT, PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY THIS ENTIRE POST. IF YOU THINK THAT THIS PROGRAM IS NOT WORKIN FOR YOU - YOU'RE TOO STUPID TO USE IT OR... IT MAY BE MY FAULT
This small app (or maybe plugin?) is developed for everyone, who like to have a fast access to music albums stored on the memory card. Instead of launching a player, browsing it's library for an album and playing it, you can play any album directly from the Sliding Panel.
Changes made from version 1.1
-database (SA2 is using MS SQL Compact Server 3.5 to store music files data)
-skins (I've implemented a fully skin support which can customize your titanium panel with SA2. It supports live preview of any skin. You can also create new skins if you like)
-updater (you can check for update at program startup (its optional) and check for testing versions if I create one. SA2 will download an update, unpack and install it automatically. After that SA2 will automatically run the new updated version and show a changelog in few languages - but I will write it only in english and polish, other languages I don't know so...)
-languages (SA2 supports lang packs. You can also translate it by yourself - it's not a problem Current languages are: English, German, Polish, Romanian and Russian)
-addons installer (SA2 have a new nice feature. Files with *.slidaddon extension are SA2 addons. If you have downloaded an addon, just copy it to your device and run it by clicking on it. Addon should be installed automatically.)
-playlist plugins (I've added asx and m3u plugins for creating playlists but in a ner future maybe a new plugin will be included. For now, it cannot be developed by someone else.)
-album path (finally you can change the path to your music files. By default it's set to Storage Card\Music but you can change it to another path.)
-bypass titanium limit to 30 pages per panel (I don't know why titanium allows only to display 30 pages... but I've made a simple trich to avoid that. If you slide to the last album you'll see under Right SK a 'Next' option. It will change pages to next 30 albums and so on. The first page from over 30 albums will have a 'Previous' option to go back. This technique supports over 4000 albums so don't worry )
-support for additional players (by modifying the Players.ini file you can add additional players to SA2. But there's one important thing - the new player must support an avalible playlist format. So if SA2 has asx and m3u your player should support it)
-progress stripe (you can see progress of creating database, creating playlists files or applying new skin)

-album limit to 30 albums

Hi Andrew excelent app; your app works too in WM6.5 professional?
If you can add support for other players like S2P or Nitrogen will be excelent.

The main exe works (you can run it) on WM6.5 Pro but as I don't know how to add a new panel to Titanium, it's useless....
I'm searching how to do it, and when it succeed, I'll update to a newer version.
The main problem is, that I don't have any WM6.5 Pro device (only my old Samsung SGH-i600 with WM6.1 Standard by NOKser).
Other players will be added as soon as the newer version will work on Pro systems

That's what I'm looking for! - I didn't know, that Titanium plugin needs a PLG file, and that's all I must add but I must write it myself, because my own installer can add a new panel under the selected from list On the movie, you can see, that I've chosen CMusic, and under that was added SlidingAlbums.
On this weekend I hope that I'll finish it :]

Its an excelent new. In the thread of AppInstaller exist an example for plg, it contain the same xml code that you put into cpr files.
I will wait the weekend to test your app.

In this zip exist a plg made for appstar for have the item like you want, only you have to replace some items name.

Thank's but I've made a complete plg file for all resolutions so this one is not necessary.
Actual, after cab installation, you can choose where SlidingAlbums will be added (like for WM Std). All works fine. Other plug-ins don't have this function :]

I need to know the exactly path to the exe file of the player with the name of that exe (on main memory and on storage card), next I'll need to know, what kind of playlist the player supports. Check if a player can play m3u, asx etc and send me a sample playlist.

Brightner supports only SGH-i600 and it's very hard to add support for other devices without having them....I'll try someday to add this to Titanium but it'll be a very long period of time while Brightner will support other devices. For now, when Brightner detects a device which is not compatible, it won't run but it'll show a guide and then the owner must follow these steps to generete a report for me, and finally when I get the report, I can add support for this device. But for now, Brightner is avalible for poland users (english is not supported (yet ))

Playlist: Use his own format of playlist extension .npl (the developer says in the next release use other format like m3u too)-I rename the npl to txt and view 2 initial estrange character and the next are the list of mp3.
S2P:
EXE Path: Main Memory: Program Files\S2P\S2P.exe
Storage Card: The installer doesn´t allow to install in Storage card, but some people do that manually to \Storage Card\Program Files\S2P\S2P.exe
Playlist: Don´t use a playlist format, but use the same order of the mp3 like you recommend in your first post.
For example \Storage Card\Music\(Artist name)\(Album Name)\(Song Name).mp3
HTC Audio Manager:(just in case you wanted)
EXE Path: Main Memory: \Windows\Audiomanager.exe
Storage card: don´t supported (I think)
Playlist: Use an archive without extension. I rename to txt and show the list of mp3.

So here's the new version - 1.1
Finally, it supports Titanium in all resolutions:

Also, I've fixed a bug that was causing SlidingAlbums panel disappearing. If you had over 30 albums, system couldn't handle so long string in the registry. For now, SlidingAlbums adds only 30 albums.

I installed the plugin and it shows up, but when configuring it, it comes up an error after clicking on creating list, it says

asking to quit and the configuration is not made. I tried with different configurations, but with the same error.

How many playlists have SlidingAlbums created in /Storage Card/Music?
Also check how many pages are created in the registry - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome\SlidingAlbums

There aren't any keys to add new players.
CorePlayer is supported but i thought that the file name is PLAYER.EXE. So it's case sensitive. Try to rename it to big letters I'll fix it on the next version.

Later I'll check it. I'm surprised that this won't work My collection is always formated like this - 01-Title.mp3 and SlidingAlbums checks the folder for files that containing ".mp3".

No playlists were created in storage card/music.
In the registry there are only condensed page and page1 (configuration).

I don't know where I can locate this error. I've got not enough information. Maybe one of the folders from Music has a irregular name or a special character?

No, i have checked all folders, subfolders and music, and renamed some subfolders and music who had some characters in them, but still the same error for me.

Change Ringtone Folder to Storage Card

Hello All,
If I copy the ringtones to my storage card the phone (TD2) does not show those ringtone files.
But if I copy the files to main storage (My Documents\Ringtones) it does work.
Is it not possible to have/store my ringtones @ storage card instead of main storage? If YES, Please advice.

Create folder in storage card e.g. "Ringtones" and change path in registry. I've read about it in this forum but can't remember where.
edit : I think the regisrty path is HKLM\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config\so there change key ring_tone_path from \My Documents\My Ringtones to \StorageCard\Ringtones

I have downloaded the regedit (Smartphone 2000, 2003 ARM/PXA) downloaded the CAB in my storage card and installed the application in my device. It installed successfuly and I can see the application in my all programs.
But issue is:
when I start the RegEdit I can see HKCR, HKCU, HKLM AND HKUSERS. But I cant open those keys.. mean there is no sub folders.... I sthere any thing I am missing... or I should download the PocketPC edition 2000, 2003 one?

Can you explain just exactly what it is you are trying to do and why?

You have to download PPC edition. Smartphone is device without touch screen.

I am trying to make my phone read Ringtones from my Memory Card. This require some registry change which "prdic" is trying to help me.

Taking up memory? =) Main memory should be used only for \Windows and such, not ringtones, music or pictures. Also it's nice to have all programs on \Storage Card.

This does work, but I dont want the ringtones to be stored in Main memory or being copied to \My Documents\My Ringtones folder. So I was looking for any config change where it should point to the folder that I want .
PS:
- The Registry change that "prdic" suggested does not work. I tried with \Storage Card\<MyFolder> and \StorageCard\<MyFolder> both did not worked for me. I restarted the mobile too after change.
- And "ArtieQ" you are correct, I dont want the Main Memory to be used for the reasons explained by you. Thanks for that.

This does work, but I dont want the ringtones to be stored in Main memory or being copied to \My Documents\My Ringtones folder. So I was looking for any config change where it should point to the folder that I want .
PS:
- The Registry change that "prdic" suggested does not work. I tried with \Storage Card\<MyFolder> and \StorageCard\<MyFolder> both did not worked for me. I restarted the mobile too after change.
- And "ArtieQ" you are correct, I dont want the Main Memory to be used for the reasons explained by you. Thanks for that.

Don't get me wrong, I now understand what you you want.
I just don't understand why you want it.
The 'reasons' explained are preferences and accessing memory card storage will slow the process down as it's not as fast as main storage so what is the advantage to using mem card in this way?
OS runs in it's own area so this is not compromised and there's plenty of RAM for any files or apps to be located without problem. This area is faster than mem card as well.
Also if you change mem card for any reason you loose the links anyway.
Plus with all these extra OS calls across the mem bus you run the risk of freezes.
If you need a loaf of bread in a hurry you go to the nearest shop!

1. More memory available = Better performance, and a storage card is used for music and such isn't it? That's the reason why main memory only is 800mb.
2. All programs on storage card instead of main memory = More RAM available = Better performance.

I don't know if it helps, but you can change the location of "My Documents" all together to storage card by using Advanced Config --> Locations.
As for myself, I prefer having the mp3-ringtones in phone memory for quicker access.

AlbumArtSync - Copy ALL album art from PC to Phone

Presenting a simple little vb script (yes, these can be dangerous so tread carefully) which successfully copies over all those little "folder.jpg" files from your computer to your phone.
Works for S2P, Nitrogen, Windows Media Player, HTC Audio Manager and probably all the other more obscure ones as well.
What it does:
It looks though all your music folders in your phone and copies the album art over from your PC
It doesn't copy them if they're already there (clever, huh?) which makes it very quick
What it doesn't do
It doesn't organize playlists, sort things into alphabetical order or play music or anything like that
How to use it:
1. Extract the file "AlbumArtSync" from the zip attached below and then double click it to run it. You can read it line by line first if you like
2. Follow the instructions - specify a source folder (e.g. your music folder) like this:

Some more useful notes
1. If you don't organize your music into folders like "artist\album\track" then this isn't for you
2. If you don't understand point 1 (above) then it probably isn't for you
3. If you use embedded album art with media monkeys, this might not be for you either
3. If you don't have album art or don't want it, then you don't need this
4. If your albums have lots of odd characters in the names like "*[{" then it might not work. Hint: rename them.
5. If you sync your music another way like a perl script on a quad-processor Linux wristwatch computer on your home wireless network then that's nice, you're very clever but this isn't really for you either
6. If someone has stopped you from running vbs scripts on your work computer, I can't help you
If you (like me) just use built-in Windows Media Player to sync playlists and tracks but it refuses to ever copy the album art, don't want to waste a lifetime trying workarounds (that don't) and don't want to embed 1200 or so MP3s and WMAs with jpegs which behave perfectly well outside the music file then this MIGHT be for you.

No, it will only take album art which you already have on yur PC and copies it to your device if that music is on your device. Windows Media Player usually creates the file on the PC all by itself. One directory per album per artist.

This looks fantastic -- and highly-needed! Damn, looks like I have to go use my PC for this... I say this because on my Mac I purchased last year a great album art search and download app for itunes called "TuneUp" -- and that gizmo has practically filled every album art vacancy in my library.
Do you happen to know how I can (a) first get & make all that album art work on my PC's version of itunes?... Is that easy to do? Any hints?
(b) ... then I could use this tool you've created to get them to my WM phone, right?

Okay, TuneUp will have created all those album art pictures embedded in the music files. I think if they are mp3 and you can import them into Windows Media Player then it should create those folder.jpg files for you and then it should hopefully work. Good luck.

Thank you! ... D'OH! I just googled "TuneUp art Mac to PC" and found out TuneUp is for Macs AND PC's ... I forgot about that!

So I am guessing this will be even easier now... As an FYI for all those who've never tried it, I tried so many freeware utilities and scripts that would automatically transfer a song's title into a google image query, or amazon CD query, and the results were never very satisfying. Yes, maybe 10% of the time such freeware would find matching artwork, but it got to the point where I looked at the amount of labor and mental focus it took to find the art, drag it into itunes, etc. ... fwiw, I think TuneUp is one of the best software utilities I've purchased in over 20 years.
Sorry, this wasn't meant to be a commercial... it;s just that finally with your new app, having artwork on players like NITROGEN or the brand new version of S2P would greatly improve the usability of sorting visually by album art.. thus the more artwork available, the merrier. Thanks for your fast reply! Cant wait to try this.

Thanks! This is exactly what I am looking for since I spent days without any solution to get album arts sync.
But my mp3 structure is a bit different as I listen to multiple language and divide them into folders before artist. So I modify the script a bit to fit mine (sorry it's a bit mess as I don't know VB but c/c++). Maybe someone found it helpful and modify to suit his/her need as well.

Music Tab library fix

Well a lot of people noticed a problem with HTC Music tab. Library shows not only music but ring tones and other sounds. One way to stop it is to hide offending folders. One problem with that is if you hide for example ring tone folder you can not select your ring tones as they are hidden as well.
What I did is as goes. I have music on SD card, also there is tomtom, copilot and some other apps. I have hidden all of the apps that might have sounds so they do not show up in library. Obviously left folder with music not hidden.
That will take care of SD card.
For My Device sounds do steps below:
1. Start from removing your card and then going to music tab so it rescans and states no music found. (Skip to step 3 if you are starting from clean rom)
2. Go to registry editor of your choice and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng (for german it will be AudioManager_Ger)\Information
Delete all items in that folder. You will not be able to delete Information it self.
If you are on clean rom you will not even have that folder it is created 1st time when music tab finds music.
3. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config
In there change:
"device_scan_path_path" from what ever there is to \Windows
"device_scan_path_path_0" from what ever there is to \Windows
"ring_tone_path" from what ever there is to \Windows
What this will do is exclude all files in windows folder. If you have any files in my documents they will show up. I assume if you just put "\" instead of "\Windows" it will exclude entire my device but did not test it.
4. Soft reset, insert your SD card and enjoy.

I have my mp3's on sd card: X:\music
Is it possible to set that only this folder is scanned?

Did not work for me. I had to change all to windows. I am thinking that if I were to exclude entire my device by putting just \ it would also exclude storage card as that appears as one of folders.
On my sd card I have hidden tomtom and it's maps so no sounds from there show up.
Did not find anywhere option to only scan selected folder, there is only option to select what not to scan and you only have one entry.
Oh yes one more device scan path is my documents by default and folder to exclude is my documents\my ringtones yet all ringtones from windows folder where showing up. Obviously device scan path does not work exactly as expected.

In short no, or not that I know off. HTC did it from cats end just like htc album folder. Instead of letting us select what folders to add in registry you have to edit what folders not to scan. However in album you can have more then one entry in music tab you can not.
I must add that since I edited that registry entry I have no ring tones at all in my music tab.

Wouldnt it be enough to state the first link to sd card?
Correct me if im wrong but i understand that the first shortcut goes to the path where music should be searched in.
The second i understand as the path where NOT to search.
And the third exists just to make sure the ringtones arent added.
Just for the understanding for me.

I 100% agree with you it makes no sense what so ever. It seems that instead of dong it the normal way where you point what to scan they did it hte othe way around where you point what not to scan.
