Blackstone Switches on at Midnight!!! - Touch HD General

Okay.... this now has me annoyed.
Every night at Midnight my Blackstone wakes me up by switching itself on and shining it's bright screen in what is a very dark room.
If left to it's own devices, after it's obligatory 1 minute of inactivity it then shuts down.
However, I normally turn over, pick the bloody thing up and turn it off....... and try to get back to sleep.
It's annoying the hell out of me ~ especially if I've had a bad day in surgery and I'm totally pooped out.
I've checked to see if there is anything running and Activesync has been given the Fake Server trick (which I'm happy with seeing as I've been doing it on several PocketPC's over the last few years).
So.... what do you think is causing this guys....

My Touch (Elf) does this too. I assume it's just part of Windows Mobile and not the fault of the TouchHD.
This is why I go to sleep with the device face-down.

Unfortunately I can't leave the device face down as the alarm is set in a way that when you turn it over it terminates the alarm..... Thus it has to stay face up.

I had this last night and it turns out it was a reminder for an all day item in my calendar. Because it is an all day item it reminds me at midnight. So, just make sure any all day items in your calendar don't have a reminder for them.

I have the same "problem" even without all day event reminders.
The phone wakes up every day at 23:59, and then does nothing...
(All day event reminders are usually (default) set to go off at 23:45.)

this is a standard wm "feature". it's well explained in galarm's description of why the device needs the windows bug fix: the windows notification queue gets worked on at midnight on all wm devices...

Thank you but how did you come to this conclusion?
Beards

It might be a paging request from the network operator - to confirm that the phone is still on and available....

from galarm's web site:
"Windows Mobile has on some devices a strange behaviour: Although an alarm is successfully added to the WM notification queue (it's like a scheduler) it doesn't go off.
Searching the web gave me following information:
At midnight WM rebuilds the notification queue, therefore it wakes up for about 15 seconds. If the notification queue is too big or the device too slow WM goes to sleep again before it could finish building the queue for the next day.
If you force WM too stay awake for a longer time, it should successfully build the queue on at least more devices."

Alarm clock will not switch off!!

I one set an alarm (WM5 clocks and alarms) to 05:30 on my SPV M5000 and now I can't get rid of it!! I have removed the tick in the tick-box and even changed the alarm time but still my little SPV wakes me up every morning without fail  How can I stop this without doing a hard-reset? Any ideas?
Try using a notification queue cleaner, and/or if that fails, just delete the alarm's registry keys.
Make a backup, then go for:
HKLM > Software > Microsoft > Clock >
Then delete
0
1
2
Write back if it does/doesn't work.
V
Thanks vijay. I have deleted the alarm in the notification queue so hopefully that will do the job. I will see what happens at 05:15 tomorrow!!
Yeah, give me a call at 5.15 if it doesn't. That'll learn me.

I installed Pocket Mechanic and deleted it from the notifcation queue. I was adviced not to use the repeat alarm function, and run CheckNotification on a daily basis.

Well, its al this #@#$%%@! notification queue. I installed the latest I-mate ROM so I had to do a hard reset which gives me rest for some time.
The only (brute force) solution till now.
from now on I am even more concentrated to find out what triggers this problems.
1. Playing with [email protected]?
2. Soft resetting?
3. Battery drain so shut off without being able to save to that queue?
4. Programs like E-wallet or Listpro that write to that queue?
5. Agile? Let my Jasjar hang regularly so as in 2 or .
6. Too heavy/large sound files? Programs conflict cause they have to wait till those souns are ready? My Agile hung e.g. when Jasjar alert was vibrating an did not stop vibrating.

I have a similar problem - except that I can't turn the alarm off - I get no notification message coming up - just the alarm going off. I have to turn the volume off and then soft reset - this normally stops it.
Anyone have any ideas?

HELP!!! ALARM IS DRIVING ME NUTS!!!

My alarm won't shut off!!! no matter what i do, it keeps vibrating and ringing!!! I've done everything short of a hard reset. Help please!!!
Please someone help me, i can't shut it off no matter what i do. I really don't want to hard reset.
Go and download/install memmaid (or memaid?). Check your "notification queue" and remove the alarm.
did you happen to update your rom and then do a restore with that backup prog?
Well i am on the new K-jam rom, but i didn't try to restore anything. This is just the first time i used the alarm on the k-jam. Everytime i soft reset it, it starts going off again, im back to using my Nokia 3100 until i get this fixed. I will try with the ?memaid and report back.
it happened to me before i believe the new start key was the reason for that, did you modify the soft keys??? if yes then you'll need to undo it.
in my case i had to hard reset
I have the same problem. Innotification queue (memmaid) i've the cause of the problem. Lot's of notifications like this one:
\\.\Notification\NamedEvents\SCRIPT:0X0
(friday, 12 may 2006 - 8:30:09)
lot's of this with just a few secons of diference.
How this apeared i dont now.
Please help to stop this fuk?&% alarm.

I've got the same problem too with an MDA Vario.
Everytime I soft reset, the alarm (which isn't set) goes off repeatedly every minute or so. I have to fiddle with the alarm, turning it on and off, and I think this then fixes it (unless my actions are coincidental) until the next soft reset.
I did previously install and uninstall Skype for Mobiles, and that had some notification issues, so I don't know if that caused this problem.
Any methods of solving this problem greatly appreciated (or any news of when an officail MDA Rom update will be available).
I eventually got mine to cancel by removing smartskey and pressing the bottom left softkey. I haven't used it since!
I had a similar problem with mine going off every minute or two. In my case it was that the Active Sync had the alarm tone set to play each time it did a sync/update while connected through USB.
Just a suggestion, but check you've not got the the alerts set to go off for some random function.

same issue here - set the alarm, it went off - but there is no freaking way to turn this thing off
There is once I got a multiple notification for my SMS.. and later I've realised that I had a software that enables repeating notifications for SMS. Try to recall if you have any software that enables you to change your notification settings (e.g. for alarm and notification) and see if you can spot any 'Repeating' stuff.

I had the exact same problems. I installed the latest O2 ROM 2.21.4.101 and the Alarm now works correctly, the calendar notifications work correctly. Also when you stop all running programs the Comm Manager shuts down without any errors as well.

Is there a program, that when run, makes the device vibrate?

to turn it on just click on it
and to turn off click on it again
oh thanks, but thats not what i'm looking for, looking for a program (or script) that makes the device vibrate (for about 2 seconds or pulsing a few times) when you run the program, so that vibration can be scheduled (by a different program)

Uh, why not just make an alarm and set it to vibrate but have no sound?
because i need vibration to reoccur every 15 minutes, activated at some days
a alarm have to be shut of, and doesn't reoccur at minute interval

You need to search for a profiler. One that you can set up days you want a certain profile to be active and other days you don't. Then you can create your every 15 minute appointments on that.
You can use mortscript for that. The command is "Vibrate(<time in miliseconds>)".
So "Vibrate(1000)" will make your device vibrate for 1 second.
Thanks a lot

Clock & missed calls when backlight off?

Hi,
Is it possible to have the time and missed calls/messages information when the backlight is off with Xperia? I mean just like it is on usual mobile phones like SE W850i or the others..
Otherwise, it's a bit of a burden to switch on/off the backlight just to check if I have missed calls instead of taking a second of glance to the screen..

Dont think so - from what I understood, when you press upper button then WM61 goes to some kind of sleep mode, leaving only basic functions like mobile and some others running, saving as much power as possible. Including disabled display. If you want to see something on screen, then you have to keep it turned on, which equals increased power consumption.
I haven't got the manual to hand but surely it there is a section on power-saving/backlight settings?!?
Go to settings>system>power>advanced>On Battery Power and untick turn off device is not used for...
Beware that the screen is one of the major battery drains...

Unless someone knows of/writes an app to do this.
As was said above, the best other option would be to set the 4 corner LEDs to flash indefinately till you notice them.
Or, buy a different phone.
Sadly the industry is not giving out the right info with Winmo "phones".
They are a PDA first, with a phone fitted in as a second thought. Not the other way around. So, they still lack many base features from "simpler" phones.

I'm not sure what you're looking for here -
1) Keeping the screen on but the backlight off, so that you can glance at the screen and see the time/your notifications - per your first post
2) Having a quickview screen with a big clock and your notifications, when your phone is on standby, per the post I have quoted.
3) both
I've already given you an answer for 1). For 2) have you tried using S2U2?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412418
it's both I am looking for. but as was put forward before, it looks it is not possible at the moment.
the pdas unfortunately miss some simple phone features; it will take some time to get used to it...
The answer is very easy:
If you have only one display as a PPC has, you need the backlight on to see something.
It is no problem to create the information you want with 3rd party software as WAD2 or PhoneAlarm. But then you have to keep the backlight on and this takes a lot of power.
Easier it is if you only want the screen turning on if a new sms/email/mms/appointment or other thing ist coming. If you use PhoneAlarm for example, you can give the settings to turn on the screen at this alarms. Then the screen turns on, if an alarm arrives (for a new SMS/MMS/EMail or Appointment or whatever) and you can see it. This needs power too.
With this you cannot see the time during 24 h...
What I do is to tell PhoneAlarm to give a sound for a new SMS/Email/MMS but not to turn on the screen. Then I know, when I want to turn the screen on and can see what happend.
And if I want to see the time I just turn on the screen for a short look. At the screenie you see one of the pages with WAD2 and PhoneAlarm in the top, I made for my daily use...

just disable standby when cradledi the power setings. get a black bakground. you can use any "standard" home screen ro HTC home or manila ove titanium.
You can also change the clock fonts or graphics for any of those programs.
the lock screen would probably be your best bet as the .cpr would be the easyest to change with the font size and type.
I think it's a decent idea. I might tackle that once I get some other projects done. epecally since my screen dims after a while.

I think pTravelAlarm is what you are looking for. I have been using it for a couple of years without any complaints. It won't keep the device screen up, it follows the device settings, so, if you want to keep the screen on all through the night, modify the device settings.

THANK YOU MAN!!! it's perfect!
Did you buy it or crack it?
Seems very simple to do in flash, RLtoday or even SU2U... but the hole idea seems a huge battery drain and a bit of a energy waste...

just for your info: charging a battery when device is on is not good for the battery itself.
reason: when the battery is full, i will start draining. Immediately, the charging jumps in.
You will have unreasonable amount of chargings, which is limited for every battery.

Can you pm me as well. Thanks.
boo... tried the app, and it's bollocks.
Alarms only work if phone display is on. Can't allow phone to enter sleep mode.
However, GAlarm is the tits!
*happy*
Since we can't share WAREZ that make people do illegal sharing activities on this forum i only want to say stop pm ME for full version files...
I Suggest that everyone can flash a phone, also can search his own method for [email protected] or something.
I Give hint, search for an cr _ ack site on google or try to use wisely key terms on google.
Enough said.
Tested the app, it aint bad at all. Only expected more graphical design
Also stick with Galarm...

I agree about graphical design but it's not a big deal for me. and i don't like Galarm because the clock font is to small to see when you wake up in the middle of the night.
I agree about Galarm. If GAlarm has larger clock font, I would stick with it but its just too small to see in middle of night and especially for a half-assed blind man like me.... (no glasses or contacts, makes Galarm really hard to see in middle of the night).
