Anyone ever charge your X1 till it hanged? Happened to me twice lately, both times when my X1 was on while charging (usually would turn it off to charge). Basically it'd just switch off (or so it seems cos no lights and no reaction to me pressing any buttons) and no matter what I pressed it wouldn't turn on again. Only way was to do a soft reset. Anyone ever encounter this? Wonder if it's normal or there's something wrong with my X1.
Something similar just happened to me today. Left my phone charging all night and I'm thinking it might have gotten overcharged. When I woke this morning the phone had rebooted and was asking for a Pin to the sim card. hm... this isn't good at all.
Mine didn't reboot. Just hanged/switched off. Hmm... really overcharge?
Have not experienced this but I know the phone does really heat up while charging. So that might be the case. Overheating or something maybe. I suggest not to keep the phone on charging overnight. I think its easier if u switch off the phone and charge if you want a fast charge. I guess it would not even take an hour for the x1 to go from 0 to 100% charge if charged using the charger and not the USB.
Regards
Well, even if my phone's off, it takes about 3 hours for a full charge.

I plug my XDA II into the charger (not cradle) all night and the next morning I unplug and it takes forever for it to turn on. Twice it has not come on and I had to perform a hard-reset and it showed battery at 0% like it had never been on the charger. I thought it was PocketPlus causing it but I didn't install PocketPlus the second time it hard-reset but the problem persists... also, I don't think it's a bad unit because I've got 2 and they both do it. Anyone else experience this??
yes it has happened to me twicw as well, once when charging over night and once when charging in the car....really annoying especially seeing as i was away and was banking on my tom tom getting me home without getting lost...very difficult when all your programs have gone??
just spoken to orange about this problem with it hard reseting..they say it is the first time they have heard of this happening, so please has any one else had this happen to them
Happens to me too - approximately once every three weeks. Seems to happen more often when the mail system is configured to poll for messages every 30 minutes (possibly, T-mobile/Cingular performs maintenance at night and the phone continuously loses both GPRS and GSM connections).
This is what I've learned so far:
1. The problem only happens at night, in my house in Fremont, California. When I was away for 5 weeks, it didn't happen even once. I've observed on numerous occasions T-Mobile's (technically, Cingular's) signal going away for an hour or so after midnight.
2. Having continuous (or periodic) GPRS traffic seems to increase the probability of failure.
3. For the failure to occur, the device must be off.
Of course, none of the above observations has been proven - they are merely suspicions.
Mike.

I left my unit plugged in but turned on last night and it was fine this AM... I will keep doing this as it's no problem leaving it on.. just hold down the pwr button to turn backlight off, at least I think so as with most other PocketPCs.
Don't know if can help.
I experienced same problem after xda2 car charge using cheap USB sync/charge cable together with car charger designed for BT GPS device (poor power supply).I tried to charge device by xda2 own power charge after drop-out; nothing happened after 24h,so need hard reset
I experienced the same last night. I purchased the "3-in-1 USB Travel Kit for O2" from Amazon.com The phone was being charged, but would not respond when i woke up this morning. A hard reset brought it back up. The battery was fully charged and everything seems normal again.
I an't imagine why this would occur.
it seems its actually quite a large problem, i my self have had it happen a number of times as has some other people, its some times been referd to as a "coma" like state
actually ive not been able to prove this yet but i think of you let the unit run right now low on power, i mean really low, i believe the PPC will wake up and tell you to charge it.
It happened to my self the other day and would not turn back on even after a hard reset. but after a while (several hours) with no user action at all, it turned on and shouted at me to charge it up, it did do a Hard-reset but i think thats because i actually tried to hard reset it. It might just be possible to "wake it" with out the reset just let it almost die.
What was the state of the Phone when that happened to all of you?
I mean, was the phone off or on... I always turn off the phone (Flight Mode On) just to assure nobody will bother me while sleeping and to avoid unnecessary SARS radiation
I've been leaving both of my units turned on while plugged in and it seems to have fixed the problem.
I think I may have a faulty battery (hoping it's not a problem with the phone itself). The battery seems to hold it's charge ok but when it has completely run out of charge or is close to running out, I have a lot of problems getting it to charge up.
If the phone is turned off, the orange light comes on but then goes off again after about 10 minutes and the battery still shows 0% when I turn the phone on to check progress. I have to remove the cable, then remove the battery for at least 5 mins, turn the phone on and while it is booting up, do a soft reset. I then insert the cable as the phone is booting up and after a while the orange light comes on and the phone starts to charge. It takes ages to charge and when it has got to about 20%, I then turn off the phone and it then charges the remaining % fairly quickly. It only gets to 99% though....
I am pretty sure (like 99.9%) that it is just the battery as my son has the same phone. We have swapped chargers - no difference. We then swapped batteries - my phone worked fine and his wouldn't charge! However, when I went in the Orange shop they were insistant that I had to send the phone back as well, which I really don't want to do as I haven't got a spare phone (even a brick).
Unfortunately, as I have just lost my job, I don't want to have to buy a new battery as they are about £25 but I guess I will have to.
What do people think - is it just a faulty battery? Has anyone else had this issue with their phone - i.e is it a known problem?? Hope someone can help...
I guess no-one bothers to answers questions from newbies then....
idd, i feel the same way..
but i think your battery is dead, don't have much experience about that subject but when you exchange the battery with someelse and then his phone acts weird to, look no further.
I haven't really found much else on this. But when I take my battery off the charger it goes down to 93 or so percent in just a few minutes. Anyone else have this problem
yeah this is an ongoing software issue with this phone, it is discussed in here somewhere. the fix for now is to once it is charged turn the phone off, then pug it it and it will charge again for about 15-30 minutes, you can do it a few times if you want but I havent personally seen a difference by doing it one or three times.
I don't think it is a bug.
The phone stops charging when full. So if you plug it in and go to bed it will stop after awhile, but continue to use juice as it normally does - unless it is turned off.
Doesn't reset until you unplug and re-plug in or reboot your phone, I believe.
That's what I thought at first too, but I have taken it off the charger immediately after hitting full and it still does it
It is a bug, must be a miss calculation for battery over charging protection.
Phone charges for an extra 30 minutes after it's "full" if you turn it off and continue to charge it.

Mine doesn't. When the initial charge completes and I plug it right back in, it stays green. Doesn't matter if it is on the car charger or regular charger.
Try what jitajt describes.
Charge it.
Disconnect it.
POWER IT OFF.
Then plug it back in. The charge indicator will be orange. Not green.
Charge til the light is green.
I tried what you described: charge, unplug, plug back in, and the charge indicator stayed green.
Not until you do as jitajt describes, and what is outlined above, will you get a full charge.
just did it, works alot better, it sucks though because it is really time consuming, not something i would be able to do every day.
Yeah.
Maybe one of the near-future OTA updates will include a firmware fix to take care of this.
Hold your breath...
same on the att tilt2, must be an htc thing
Here's the story, whenever charging overnight, I plug in the charger, as you do, the screen lights up so I press the right hand screen off button, thinking it might help with the charging or whatever, then I get up the next morning to find the green light permenantly on and the phone won't boot until I take the battery out, put back in and all is well, VERY annoying.
So the other night I just put it on charge as normal, but this time didn't turn the screen off for some reason, I get up the next day thinking I'll have to do my normal routine of taking the battery out etc, but no, to my surprise no SOD, done it a few times now and all is well.
Funny thing I know but like I say it works for me and might help a few others with the same problem.

I just got my phone yesterday and I just noticed the only way I can get it to charge is to plug it in and restart the phone. However as soon as I unplug it the only way to start charging again is to restart the phone. Has anyone else run into this?
Any luck with this. My phone is also doing this, but only started about a week after use. The phone will not charge when off and for that matter it will not even restart. Always hangs requiring a long hold of the power button to start it up, then it charges and works fine. So far essential support has not been on top of my request.
Similar issue here that might be related. When I go to bed at night, I plug the phone in and it's usually at about 50%. I wake up, and it's at like 60%, like it charged and then stopped. It never charges up to full. Then I unplug it, plug it back into the charger and it charges to full. There's definitely something going on here with the charging. I will watch it more closely tonight.

No luck so far. It's intermittent. Happened for a couple days now no issue. In emailed support and they have escalated it but I have not heard back.
I went and purchased a higher quality after market USB c charger and the problem stopped. Essential finally contacted me back and are shipping me a new charger.
Anything new about this ? My phone charge to 91% then stop , unplug and replug or restart the phone then it's charge to 100%.
I have motoGS5Plus.It take about 4hrs to charge 50% but it take about 2hrs to full charge when I start charging after restart. My mobile bettry is ok or not performing as per standards?
