Gmail send mail problems - Touch HD General

I'm getting errors when trying to send an email via the Gmail smtp server (on an IMAP account) all the settings appear normal and it has worked a few times but now it's just not working (via UMTS or WiFi) incoming mails seem fine.
I tried installing the MS patch KB958639 but I get an error that the update is not for my version of windows mobile (ie. 6.1 AKU 1.4.0.0 Build 20757 Platform 2)
Anyone else have this problem?
I'll try to delete the account and recreate it but don't have time now.

In any case the mentioned MS patch is only for up to AKU 1.3, HD has 1.4.

MS hotfix for SMTP not needed for HD

In case you are wondering if you need to install the hotfix Microsoft released yesterday for the deadly SMTP "bug" in WinMobile: You don't need it, since HD has 6.1.4, and patch is only needed for up to 6.1.3 . Only remedy until now was hardreset, for pre-HD.
Link to MS hotfix page: http://bit.ly/Kv5b
This behavior is associated with a feature that was introduced in Windows Mobile 6.1. It provides a way for users to send e-mail through an alternate outbound e-mail server provided by their mobile operator in the event that the default outbound e-mail server becomes inaccessible.
The problem occurs if a mobile operator doesn't use this feature, and therefore doesn't supply a value for the alternate SMTP address. When the mobile device fails on any attempt to connect to the e-mail provider's default SMTP server, Windows Mobile 6.1 automatically loads the value for the alternate SMTP server—which in this case is blank. The e-mail account configuration details are then corrupted, which results in loss of the ability to send e-mail with that particular e-mail account.
With this fix, the feature is patched to ensure that Windows Mobile 6.1 takes appropriate action when it detects a blank value for the Alternate SMTP server.
TT and Garmin did work, but now not getting gps fix, advice please.

Ofiaich, I think you may have replied to the wrong thread there.

hi there
i just want to make clear that the smtp bug is NOT fixed on WM 6.1.4 . I recently bought the HD
and it has like mentioned before
WM 6.1.4.0 running on it, but still i cannot send emails,
it wont connect with the smtp server. Can anyone tell me wether an un-
official fix is available for the smtp bug on WM 6.1.4.0?
i looked everywhere but found nothing.
thanx in advance
same problem
6.1.4 is not fixed, smtp fails... and you can't install the fix that works only until 6.1.3
please help, I tried anything but I can't find any good tip or patch around..
thanks
I do a lot of email on my HD, before with SMTP. But I prefer Push (receiving email on my HD automatically), so if your provider supports Imap maybe Imap Pusher Service is for you:
http://www.codeplex.com/ImapPusherService
The program is no longer supported, and has a bug freezing it when it cannot connect to the server for a prolongued time (no signal), but it works fine in major coverage areas. I use it with Gmail and German GMX.
Well, since the bug is basically that your operator has not set a secondary SMTP server in the registry, maybe this reg entry suggested by ButtonBoy from this forum here could help you.
1. Add the reg key “Operator” to \\HKLM\System\Inbox\Settings
2. Add the reg key "OutgoingServer" below Operator key.
3. Add the reg val (reg_str) "OutgoingServer" below Operator key- “127.0.0.1”
4. Soft reset
Of course this is not a working SMTP server, but maybe your Outlook Mobile will be happy with it.

I tried buttonboy fix...
doesn't work
smtp settings from my provider are:
incoming:
mail.xxx.com ssl activated
smtp:
smtp.xxx.com ssl activated
username and password different from incoming
Ok, just to make sure, and since the smtp/imap bug corrupts your mail account and settings, did you try the buttonboy fix with a new mail account, not an already corrupted one I hope.
The Outlook Mobile team on the blog says its working on a fix for the fix, but only covering problems with the initial fix not being validated by a certificate on the mobile. Doubt this will cover problems you have.
In the meantime, maybe you could try out Flexmail trial client as an alternative to Outlook Mobile messaging.

thanks...
I'm trying flexmail
my provider told me that maybe the bug it's depending on their server not running windows but linux.

Activesync problem with MS exchange

Device: HTC S620 (Tmobile Dash)
OS: Windows Mobile 6.5
Rom: 3VO.2.50.080809
Problem: Email messages does not download to the phone from my company's MS Exchange server. During sync phase, the device 'sees' the messages on the server but it does not download to my phone, no error message. It was working fine but all of a sudden it did not. I checked the setup such as server address we use owa.mycompany.com, SSL enabled, login, password nothing has changed. I deleted the server from Activesync and setup again still no go. My other Hotmail, Gmail, calender (sync via usb to my pc) works fine. Few of my fellow workers with iphones and other WM phones also have problem downloading, only the blackberry folks had no problem. My IT guy said he didn't change anything (I am not sure I believe it). If anyone can help shed light on this problem I can finally get some sleep trying to debug this .
*** New Update ***
I was able to download my messages if I config my Outlook to keep emails on the exchange server and not download to my local PC. There seems to be some conflict.

Smtp Email problems

Hello,
I have an HTC Ozone. Purchased about 2 months ago. I have been unable to send email through a company mail server since I have got the phone. I can log on and download my messages with no problem. When attempting to send mail I connect to the server but my phone sends no authentication information and I get a message bounced back saying no relay access allowed. I have tried the microsoft fix but my phone would not install it. I am currently using the most current 3VO 6.5 rom, I have also tried the official rom. With all three roms I have been unable to send mail. I have also tried multiple email clients.
I have tried to send mail through our server over wifi with outlook mobile and profimail. Same resault error 504 relay acces denied. I know for a fact our server supports relay access with authentication, I have no problems sending mail with my laptop using my verizion air card.
As i noted earlier I have had this problem from day 1 with stock 6.1 rom, with the official 6.5 rom and with the 3VO rom.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Brian B.
Ok more testing. Tried same account information with my wife's phone same resault. I was thinking verizon was blocking port 25, cause I have tried other outgoing servers. Our IT guy says logs show phone connecting but not sending the login information. This baffles me. As anyone with an ozone had these problems. I have searched all over everything I find says use an alternate smtp server but this doesn't work either. This phone is really making me angry.
Of course, you are using your phone operator SMTP ?
Do you have the same probleme with GMAIL and IMAP protocol ?

What do you mean? I'm sure I have a T-Mob mail account, but I don't use it. I use my Internet provider's SMTP email. I cannot get my folders on my phone, "deletes" don't get sent from my phone, and every once in a while I cannot send email.
Not all pop server work well with pocket outlook. For instance, I cannot get my gmail mails synced correctly using the pop protocole, I need to activate IMAP (that may solve your sent mail issue).
As far as other accounts go, in order to be able to send mails, I need to use my mobile operator SMTP (and username / login), i.e smtp.orange.fr. (still keeping my e-mail provider's pop account, though).
Is you problem permanent (you never manage to send any e-mail) or odd (sometimes it will, sometimes it won't) ?

The sending problem is intermittent, but the folders issue and the deletes issue are permanent. Plus, if I read and/or delete an email from my phone and do not read it on my email server it gets re-sent to my phone as unread mail.
Btw, the incoming server is a POP server, the outgoing server is SMTP.
All right. Although I do not have a precise idea of what your problem is, I would suggest the following:
- Call you provider (T-mobile if I understood well) and ask them what is their smtp server address, and what is your login / password, and try to use this config to send mail.
- Try to switch one of you webmail from pop to imap and to sync your mails using the imap protocol.
Another solution would be transfering all you mails to a live mail account, as these of course are well integrated in WinMo.

Email problem

Hello..
I have a TouchHD and i've recently tried to synchronise it with my university email..all went well, i can receive emails but i can't send emails, as i get the error that something is wrong with the connection or the settings etc..
I have looked into it, and foud that there was an issue with WM6.1 and found a fix for it..but since i have change my original rom to a cooked one, the fix cannot be installed..
what now??
It sounds as if the patch you had installed to fix your SMTP issue was only intended for use with Windows Mobile 6.1.
What email account have you setup? (Gmail, Hotmail, etc)
Have you tried to recreate your email account and verify that your SMTP setting (outgoing SMTP server address) is correct on 6.5?

[Q] Wm 6.5.x - Exchange sync - "click to download the rest of this message" problem

[Q] Wm 6.5.x - Exchange sync - "click to download the rest of this message" problem
I've this problem on WM 6.5, com2 or com3:
with exchange sync activate upon a zimbra server, when i select "click to download the rest of this message", Pocket Outlook do nothing and the message is not downloaded.
If I manually run active sync synchronization the message is simply lost, do not show any more on the device even if it is on the server.
As on wm 6.1 it works well, I think it may be due to a new push email setting that my server is not supporting.
Anybody knows how to solve this issue?
Thanks
I use gmail exchange server, and dont have this issue on 28244. Maybe it is your server issue?

I'm quite sure it's a server issue, but I want to know if there is a registry setting to set up a 6.5.x mobile active sync to 6.1/0 mode.
On WM 6.1 everything works fine. I couldn't find anything on microsoft sites...
Ciao
