I want to change the image storage folder "my pictures" from my pictures on my device to my pictures on my storage, how do I do this?
Also how do I view the files stored on my device with the device connected to my computer, I am having a blonde moment with all this somewhere I can only view my stroage card and not anything on the phone.
Thanks

I can't seem to set the camera to save to save on SD card. the only option is main memory and network. I use registry hack so that network apear as a folder. it's courius that network would show up in camera settings but not storage card...
Does anyone know ways to go arround this.
Help appriciated
Huh, I have not found a place where to say the camera a folder to save photos, just the choice of the two: "Main Memory" and "Storage card". As I said to place to the storage card the camera stops to save pictures.
I found that I need to create right folders on the Storage card, from the SD root should be "My Documents", within one should be "My Pictures", just like frome the device root. As I created the folders, camers started to save pictures to "My Pictures" on the SD.
I guess the path is hardcoded, so you just can change the root. Am I wrong? Someone knows how to change the path?
It's just that the camera app is a little screwy. Basically if you disable the network patch you will be able to save to the Storage Card again. The same happens if you enable the extended rom as visible.
I can't remeber the exact cause in detail, but essentially the app looks for the first 'Special Folder' and it displays that plus 'Main Memory'. It assumes that the only 'Special Folder' will be the storage card which in most cases is true but as you found, not all!

Camera Image saving
My problem was I could not save images or video files to storage card (or main memory). My Ext ROM is still NOT Unlocked so I still have the Storage card option in the Camera Settings.
I have checked the Registry keys and they were correct. Eventually, I doubted the folder in the SD Card (My Documents\My Pictures) as it was created before the last ROM upgrade. I deleted the folder My Documents in the SD card and tried the camera again on Photo and Video and the problem was solved, even with saving to the Main Memory although I did not do anything with its folders. The Camera program created the folders again in the SD Card. My assumption that it tries to create the folder but it could not as they were already there and did not flag with error message. I noticed the same behaviour in PCs.
I had similar problems with Words and Camera even with older PPC's when using the SD card.
Registry keys should be:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image\Saveto
= 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image\SaveFolder
= My Pictures
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Video\Saveto
= 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Video\SaveFolder
= My Videos
I heard about the issue with the absence of the Storage Card from the Camera Settings after Unlocking the Ext. ROM and I wonder if the above key value should change to 2 or 3 as the folder structure (logical drives) changes from 0-Main Memory, 1-Storage Card to 0-Main Memory, 1-Ext ROM, 2-Storage Card. (Try it at your own risk as I have not done this)

.
There's only 2 options: 0 or 1. If you change that key to 2, SaveTo will be empty/blank. I tried it.

Thank you for the feedback.
Hi.
I have the Cingular 8525 with Windows Mobile 5.0 with 2gb Sandisk MicroSD. In the Settings/Today/Appearance Tab, when I check on Use this picture as the background and click Browse, it only reads the Main Memory, and not the Extended Rom or Storage Card. How do I make it point to the Storage Card? I have perused through much of the registry so far.
Thanks!
Is this a joke?

No.
I do not see the option to browse for the pictures on the storage card. The camera sees them and saves to it with no problems. Windows Media sees it and loads mp3's from it no problem.
I searched for the terms.. Today Browse Pictures using the search option.
Thanks.
it does read from the card.. however it only reads 1 folder deep i believe.. so if on your card you have \storage card\folder 1\folder 2.. then this will only read the contents in as deep as folder 1.. if you leave your image just on the card and not in a folder then you will be fine

So far, it seems to only see the Main Memory in terms of the two files it sees (2 gifs in the Templates directory) which I can see with either the All Folders or Templates directory option selected.
I does see the My (pictures, documents, etc) folders but I am guessing from the main memory since I moved the contents of those to the Storage Card.
I will move a picture to the My Documents folder on the Storage Card (from the My Pictures subdirectory of that folder) to see if I get those as additional selections.
Evidently, your info regarding the more than 1 folder deal is correct. Thanks.
i couldnt remember if it was 1 or 2 but i just checked and its definitely only 1 folder deep..
Not true - I was just able to set my background using a picture that is 2 folders deep ... \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures. To do so I opened the Pictures & Videos application, navigated to that folder, then opened the pic. Using the Menu button I selected "set as today background ... " no problems.

that is correct, but we were specifically talking about using the function in start>settings>today. The file explorer and Pictures & Video will go as deep as you want
Just tried it, I stand corrected!
All my pictures are in the storage card. How do I make the Photos & Videos folder show the pictures in my storage card? I like how it shows thumbnails of my pictures.
Pic & Vid, top left corner, browse wherever you want.

Thanks but is there to make it as the default folder as soon as you click on Pics & Vids folder? Or do I have to look for the folder in my storage card every time I open Pics & Vids folder?
Bump!

There must be a registry tweak that can do that?
edit to add - I also find it annoying.

Camera Save/Storage Problems
Specifying your own location in registry
HKLM - Software - HTC - Camera - Image - SaveFolder - xyz
where xyz is your folder name, but note this folder will be added as a subfolder of the following (in this case storage card)
auto added path:
/Storage Card/My Documents,
Note that setting a location or name other than the defaults will result in problems viewing pictures via the application, though they can be viewed by locating and opening files individually.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image]
value of "Saveto" = 0 will save images to main memory
value of "Saveto" = 1 will save images to storage card

Anyone else having a problem getting camera images to be saved onto the SD card. When i start the camera application it asks me if i want to use my SD as the storage location. I agree. it is a 2gb SD. I take pictures as I would with the main mem as the storage loc. When I go to look in the folder I see no pictures! I checked the foder value in the registry and it is correct.....
ideas?

When in the camera application and you go through the tools menu to see where it's storing the pictures - does it confirm that Storage Card is being used.
There are some things to note:
You cannot have "network folder" enabled and store to the storage card. If it is enabled you must disable it and then use the menu in the camera to select storage card.
Sometimes the camera does not auto create the My documents>My pictures directory on the storage card. If not you can create it.

Can someone please tell me how to move the folder My Documents to memory card?
If I save a picture from an mms, I can only save it in "Main memory -> My Documents"
I want the phone and all applications only to use My Documents on my memory card.
It's all in the registry! I'd recommend using a standard tool. If I'm not mistaken Advanced config 3.3 has the option - but don't pin me on that one.
No. Advance config doesnt work.
I don't believe you can. You can easily change the registry setting in Advanced Config which I did myself a while back, but things still save to the main memory. It's the same with the camera, you can't get it to save the images to My Pictures, it's either "DCIM" or something else.
Shame really, it would be nice if there was a way that I wasn't aware of.

You do know that in the camera settings you can choose to save in main memory or card?
Just checking
So its the software for MMS thats save files to main memory?
This is really annoying, I'll get a lot of pics from friends. If I only could change the name when saving, I'll could easily cut n paste all images to right folders. But it takes a lot of time to open a pic first, and check wich folder I want it in.
Is there a way to see images as thumbnails in list?
For camera: go to camera
Go to setting then arrow down. On the left there is an icon for camera and video. Click on it then click on save to phone or card. chose save to card.
For MMS/SMS go to option then chose storage. Click on save to storage card
