Hi.
I have the Cingular 8525 with Windows Mobile 5.0 with 2gb Sandisk MicroSD. In the Settings/Today/Appearance Tab, when I check on Use this picture as the background and click Browse, it only reads the Main Memory, and not the Extended Rom or Storage Card. How do I make it point to the Storage Card? I have perused through much of the registry so far.
Thanks!
Is this a joke?

No.
I do not see the option to browse for the pictures on the storage card. The camera sees them and saves to it with no problems. Windows Media sees it and loads mp3's from it no problem.
I searched for the terms.. Today Browse Pictures using the search option.
Thanks.
it does read from the card.. however it only reads 1 folder deep i believe.. so if on your card you have \storage card\folder 1\folder 2.. then this will only read the contents in as deep as folder 1.. if you leave your image just on the card and not in a folder then you will be fine

So far, it seems to only see the Main Memory in terms of the two files it sees (2 gifs in the Templates directory) which I can see with either the All Folders or Templates directory option selected.
I does see the My (pictures, documents, etc) folders but I am guessing from the main memory since I moved the contents of those to the Storage Card.
I will move a picture to the My Documents folder on the Storage Card (from the My Pictures subdirectory of that folder) to see if I get those as additional selections.
Evidently, your info regarding the more than 1 folder deal is correct. Thanks.
i couldnt remember if it was 1 or 2 but i just checked and its definitely only 1 folder deep..
Not true - I was just able to set my background using a picture that is 2 folders deep ... \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures. To do so I opened the Pictures & Videos application, navigated to that folder, then opened the pic. Using the Menu button I selected "set as today background ... " no problems.

that is correct, but we were specifically talking about using the function in start>settings>today. The file explorer and Pictures & Video will go as deep as you want
Just tried it, I stand corrected!

I can't seem to set the camera to save to save on SD card. the only option is main memory and network. I use registry hack so that network apear as a folder. it's courius that network would show up in camera settings but not storage card...
Does anyone know ways to go arround this.
Help appriciated
Huh, I have not found a place where to say the camera a folder to save photos, just the choice of the two: "Main Memory" and "Storage card". As I said to place to the storage card the camera stops to save pictures.
I found that I need to create right folders on the Storage card, from the SD root should be "My Documents", within one should be "My Pictures", just like frome the device root. As I created the folders, camers started to save pictures to "My Pictures" on the SD.
I guess the path is hardcoded, so you just can change the root. Am I wrong? Someone knows how to change the path?
It's just that the camera app is a little screwy. Basically if you disable the network patch you will be able to save to the Storage Card again. The same happens if you enable the extended rom as visible.
I can't remeber the exact cause in detail, but essentially the app looks for the first 'Special Folder' and it displays that plus 'Main Memory'. It assumes that the only 'Special Folder' will be the storage card which in most cases is true but as you found, not all!

Camera Image saving
My problem was I could not save images or video files to storage card (or main memory). My Ext ROM is still NOT Unlocked so I still have the Storage card option in the Camera Settings.
I have checked the Registry keys and they were correct. Eventually, I doubted the folder in the SD Card (My Documents\My Pictures) as it was created before the last ROM upgrade. I deleted the folder My Documents in the SD card and tried the camera again on Photo and Video and the problem was solved, even with saving to the Main Memory although I did not do anything with its folders. The Camera program created the folders again in the SD Card. My assumption that it tries to create the folder but it could not as they were already there and did not flag with error message. I noticed the same behaviour in PCs.
I had similar problems with Words and Camera even with older PPC's when using the SD card.
Registry keys should be:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image\Saveto
= 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image\SaveFolder
= My Pictures
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Video\Saveto
= 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Video\SaveFolder
= My Videos
I heard about the issue with the absence of the Storage Card from the Camera Settings after Unlocking the Ext. ROM and I wonder if the above key value should change to 2 or 3 as the folder structure (logical drives) changes from 0-Main Memory, 1-Storage Card to 0-Main Memory, 1-Ext ROM, 2-Storage Card. (Try it at your own risk as I have not done this)

There's only 2 options: 0 or 1. If you change that key to 2, SaveTo will be empty/blank. I tried it.

Thank you for the feedback.
All my pictures are in the storage card. How do I make the Photos & Videos folder show the pictures in my storage card? I like how it shows thumbnails of my pictures.
Pic & Vid, top left corner, browse wherever you want.

Thanks but is there to make it as the default folder as soon as you click on Pics & Vids folder? Or do I have to look for the folder in my storage card every time I open Pics & Vids folder?
Bump!

There must be a registry tweak that can do that?
edit to add - I also find it annoying.

Camera Save/Storage Problems
Specifying your own location in registry
HKLM - Software - HTC - Camera - Image - SaveFolder - xyz
where xyz is your folder name, but note this folder will be added as a subfolder of the following (in this case storage card)
auto added path:
/Storage Card/My Documents,
Note that setting a location or name other than the defaults will result in problems viewing pictures via the application, though they can be viewed by locating and opening files individually.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image]
value of "Saveto" = 0 will save images to main memory
value of "Saveto" = 1 will save images to storage card

[Q] Redirecting My Documents and My pictures to Storage Card does not seem to "stick"
Hi,
got my HD2 yesterday and have been toying since to set it up the way I'm used to with my previous Touch Pro and TytnII before that.
This shows again how spoiled we've been with excellent roms like the Energy Series!
I'm using the same 4GB microSD card I had on the TouchPRo since all my pictures etc are on there but I can't get the pictures displayed in the picture tab of Touchflo.
I redirected all relevant 'location' folders using Advanced Config but after soft reset, the HD2 is still displaying the demo pictures that come with the phone.
New pictures get stored on the storage card, but in the DCIM folder although I also specified the store location to be 'My Pictures'.
I tried both the pre-defined storage card locations in Advance Config, as well as the browse option to go to the relevant folder.
I though maybe it is because I have the Dutch HD2 version (yes, I could not wait as the WWE is only available on the 13th) but I checked and the storage card is named 'storage card', not some Dutch translation.
Anybody have any pointers where I could change this?
thanks a lot.
DicE
nobody who could help me? Been looking into the registry past couple of days at HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\image; HKLM\Services\Picture etc... every key seems to point to the right locations; but still when I take a picture, it doesn't show up in the TouchFlo3D interface...
help anyone?
DicE
the manual says that you must add a "album" as "favorite album" to show the pics in manila on todayscreen. maybe this is the solution?

I'm not sure this is what you're asking, but here's a quote from the manual:
Captured photos are named using the convention IMAGnnnn.jpg (where ‘nnnn’ is the counter), and are saved to the \DCIM\100MEDIA folder on the storage card.
and
To set a favorite album
The Photos & Videos tab on the Home screen displays photos and video files from the current favorite album. By default, the Camera Shots album which stores the photos and videos you captured using the Camera is set as the favorite album. You can change to another favorite album, if preferred.
1. On the Albums main screen, tap Albums.
2. On the Albums tab ( ), tap the album you want to set as your favorite.
3. Tap Menu > Set Album as Favorite, and then tap OK.
It looks to me like the pictures can be stored on the card, but only in one location and you must specify the location.
Sorry if I misinterpreted your question (I don't have an HD2 to play with yet).
-Bob-
@rebecker - you have almost miss understood The OP wants the Camera software to SAVE the photos into \storage card\My Documents\My Pictures - this does not work, none of the usual reg key changes work.
Default camea picture folder - DCIM vs My Pictures
I also have a similar problem. I've changed HKLM\software\HTC\camera\general\EnableDCIM = 0, so that I can use date/time prefix.
After the change, the HTC Album recognize \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures as the default camera folder. However, when I actually took a photo it went to DCIM folder... Not a big deal, but it is just a little annoying.
Any expert here know how to solve this?
Exactly the same problem. The camera saves its shoots to DCIM\100media, and not to My pictures, even if DCIM = 0...
I have 1.43 rom and I have also wanted to change default my picture and my documents folder to the folder on storage card. I didn't made it.
For the photo tab...yes I wanted few thing here too...because everytime I've set the favourite album to the storage card/photos...that was reset everytime I've connected hd2 to pc or when i removed microsd card and put it back...
The only way that I kept my favourite album fixed was with not connecting with usb or removing the card.
Ok...it takes only few seconds to change the favourite album back, but it is very annoying that hd2 doesnt remember the folder...
looks like live mesh mobile works pretty good.
I did something stupid and installed it on the storage card. I'm going to do a whole new install, and try on device to see if there's a difference. I got an error about invalid config, blah blah. it seems to loop on sync since i got the error, but the documents appear to sync anyhow.

Whenever i try ad download someting from opera I get the option to choose where i want it to be downloaded to, however, if I choose storage card the only options I can pick are none or loads of folders of copilot.
Is there a way to specify which folders opera gives me as options to download to?

Yeah, it's basically a very poor replacement for a folder treeview. I don't know what order it's sorted the root folder of the storage card, but it shows the 1st folder and then any subfolders of that, and any of their subfolders etc. etc. etc..
I'm the same as the charliebarter that the CoPilot folder is at the top of my list, so we get a recursive list of CoPilot sub folders, and the list runs out before it can get any further. Even if the dropdown allowed more entries, I certainly wouldn't want it to carry on and list every single folder on the storage card!
It's just crap on the part of the Opera devs. (So is the fact that there's a rather small limit on filename lengths, which includes folders so you'll end up with files called something like "\Storage Card\Folder\Sub Folder\Filena", instead of Filename.)
I don't know if Opera 10 is better in this respect, but I prefer the zooming in Opera 9 so I don't want to upgrade.
New Folder.....
Create a new folder on the root of your storage card & download to that. This is what I do. I have a folder on storage card called 'Apps' & download to that. Hope this helps.

The problem we have is that we don't get the option to save to any folders other than the long list of copilot folders. The list cuts off before getting any further than the many many subfolders of copilot.
I do have other folders in the root of the card. I just can't save to them. I end up saving to the root of the card and then moving files later, but that's just daft.

exactly, the I even have a bing folder before copilot and this isn't shown as an option so I don't think it's a alphabet position thing, I also have to move after downloading
