Missing Storage/RAM - XPERIA X1 General

Hi,
When looking @ the task manager on my X1, under 'Storage' there is a total of 280.96Mb + 200.48Mb for 'Program'.
But when looking here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448911 (Touch-IT Clean&Smooth) the total under 'Storage' is 348.69Mb in total.
Is this a branding issue, or a hardware issue (X1i vs X1a), please could someone shed some light on this?
Thanks,
Phil Rich

X1 got 512mb in rom storage. The rom you flash (OS+software) will take the space from there. If you look into my lite rom, I got 380mb free space as well.

Thanks, thought something was wrong there.

memory leaks, help me identify which app is eating my ram

Alow,
I am having some serious memory leaks on my pocket pc. When i soft reset i have 19MB free program memory and after using my pda for a day or so it will drop to like 10. only a soft reset will recover my ram.
I remeber a totay screen aplication that displayed a graph of the memory usage, anyone knows its name? that one might help me identify my memory leak problems.
I have loaded and using
wisbar advance
Pocket Informant
tdlaunch
PocketBreeze
PhoneAlarm
SPBGprs monitor
Photo Contacts
latest versions of all of them .
I have read about this memory leak before...
as I remember.. the problem was whit on of these programs:
-PocketBreeze
-wisbar advance
-SPBGprs monitor (maybe.. I don't really remember )
anyway... generally.. any today plug-in would drain memory.. especially like the mentioned programs....
I hope somebody else could give you more accurate answer
cheers
I had probs with SPB GPRS before but it has been upgraded since. Not sure as I don't use it now . I'm afraid if no one knows for sure its the old fashion method of one install at a time until the offending software is found. :

For CPU+Memory graph, I use Rhinostats by Rhinocode:

Re: memory leaks, help me identify which app is eating my ra
Quite nice, but I dont see a way to see individual apps CPU/Mem usage. It displays only TOTAL CPU/Mem usage. So, I dont think it will help in this problem.

Do you experience lag on your universal?

Do you experience lag on your universal?
When you have install SPB pocket plus, and recall from stanby?
will need around 5-10 seconds to repond?
Any solution for this?
Try removing the icons that display information about free RAM / storage card space from the today screen and see if it speeds up.
Have encountered the same problem with my Dopod 900. After some discussion and comparison with other Dopod 900 users here in Singapore, found that everyone has the same issue as well...
Not sure if it is due to the ROM?
One of the reason is due to Spb pocket plus. Don't use it. My don't have any lag problem after i junked the Spb pocket plus. In fact you don't need any task closing program to force close the program, WM5.0 can handle multiple programs in memory fine. Just do a close all at the end of the day and you should be fine.
Bin the msn plug in slows mine. I removed mine.
The problem is with the "storage card" meter....
just remove the storage card meter, and everything would be fine!
the lag is because, WM5 takes a few seconds to initialize the storage card, and spb plus locks up looking for one in this period....
Hope this helps,
San
Well, I found that killing the "srvtrust" process as soon as my JasJar starts up seems to speed things up quite a lot...

PocketPlus did this to my Exec too, so I uninstalled it.
There's no point having PP on the Today screen if you can't show the meters. There are enough buttons on the Universal to map to your favourite programs that you can survive without a launcher until SPB release a properly-compatible version of PocketPlus, IMHO.
This is not a Pocket Plus exclusive fault, *almost any* today plugin that display battery and/or storage infos cause this lag. For instance, Resco Today Plugin exploits the same issue.
The only plugin that seems to not slow down the wake-up process is SBSH iLauncher.
Cheers.

On the other hand, Pocket Weather and especially PocketBreeze (again by SBSH) seem to slow it up a lot as well. But they are really useful for me so .....trade off!

Hi,
I uninstalled SPB and finally my JASJAR is working fine. Thanks to this forum I'm really understanding many things. Differently I should have sold my JASJAR.

Yep, that's pretty normal. Does not sound like you have installed very much to Main memory only the ROM installed stuff.
Device should be working fine with that amount of free space.

By itself unlocking the Ext ROM will be of little benefit unless you just want to have a look to see what's there.
Whether you can get any advantage from unlocking depends I think on what your level of knowledge is about ROM and the various tweaks that can be done. I would suggest, in order to answer this question for yourself, that you have a good read of the Wiki and decide if some of the things there, are things you could try based on your level of knowledge.

lack of memory on wing

Hey. I'm having problems with the amount of available memory on my Wing. After a soft reset, I only have 27% of my memory left.. it makes it exteremely hard to multitask even a couple programs; my old mda would start off with around 52% of is memory free after a soft reset. I'm using the ROM that came with the phone; my phone was an insurance replacement and arrive a few days ago, so I think that I probably have the latest official ROM. Are there any custom ROMs out yet, for the wing, that help the memory situation, like a more stripped down version.. or any reg tweaks?
Thanks,

ALL the custom roms for wizard are coked with 4MB pagepool. The original ROM has 12 MB - that´s the roblem. You won´t get more memory on wing/herald without custom ROMs.
20MB after hardreset is the most wecan get at the moment.
Sorry.
just wondering..
hey there! i just recently joined this forum and been readin some threads here. and so far i see people saying they have like 12mb memory on their wing... do you guys have any idea how they do that? because i check my wing i only have 2mb... so im wondering how can i improve mine.
thanks for help!

If you want a good amount of free memory you will most likely need to flash the ROM on your wing to a custom one found on this website, such as ttran's "Open Touch" (scroll down to the 3rd post to download. Several versions to choose from.) You can use the guide provided by ivanmmj, here, to help you with the process. Here (post #60) is a link to a post regarding the memory/RAM free and used for open touch. There are many other great ROMS out too, i just happen to be using Open Touch 5.0 so its easier for me to explain it. Make sure to read thoroughly to understand all the risks and benefits involved also.
I have 15-22mb free with an oem rom.
Following the directions of previous posters I changed the pagepool size to 6mb. Many posters of a few months ago were talking about how to do this. I believe there's even a cab that will do it for you.
Another way to get more memory is to buy SKTools
HTML:
http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?m_products.html#tools
which has an "optimize" feature that will free up even more memory and tweak a number of go-faster settings.
Yeah, to echo what was said before......the mem wont get better till you get into custom roms.
You do NOT have to use a custom ROM
This might seem to be against the conventional wisdom, but I'd argue that you do NOT have to use a custom ROM to improve the free memory situation on the Wing. I am running the latest official T-Mobile ROM and have about 20 MB free after a soft reset. There are a number of things you can do to increase this number without having to install a custom ROM:
(1) Change the size of the pagepool. I believe the latest T-Mobile ROM has an 8 MB pagepool. I have decreased it to 6, but others use 4 without (as far as I know) too many problems. This gives you 2 or 4 MB extra RAM.
(2) There are many more processes running (and using RAM) on the phone than you see in the standard task manager. That only shows you programs that you have opened yourself. I found that a number of these extra processes are started by shortcuts in the \Windows\StartUp folder, and therefore run when the phone turns on. Some that I removed are btdwake.lnk, My5MsgCenter.lnk, poutlook.lnk, Voice Command.lnk, and WiFiInit.lnk. You can do a search to find out what these are. If you don't use MyFaves, Voice Command, WiFi, etc. you can save a lot of memory by deleting these shortcuts from the StartUp folder. (Note: You have to rename them first, then do a soft reset, and then you will be able to delete them.)
(3) There are processes that are "services" that are always running as well. For this, I'd suggest a program like MemMaid, which shows you the "Startup Services" and allows you to disable them. I personally disabled the SMSCSend (Target: My5Client.dll) and TMW (T-Mobile HotSpot Loging Utility). There may be more. Again, I'd suggest searching for what each one is before disabling it.
Of course some people prefer custom ROMS, and that's fine. Personally, I prefer the standard WM6 Home screen to the various "Touch" interfaces touted by the custom ROMS. Installing a new ROM seemed complicated to me and a little risky for someone who hasn't done it before. Also, I didn't want to have to start from scratch with a new ROM.
Anyway, I'm posting these suggestions as an alternative for those who for whatever reason don't want to install a new ROM. Good luck!

RAM is always at 76% usage

Hi all,
My ram is always sitting around 76% usage. Is this normal? After I use the cleanram, it will clean it to about 73% usage. And for example, when i open Opera mobile 10, it will be at around 89% usage. I have a tilt 2 by the way.
thanks in advance!!

which rom are you using?
My Tilt2 used to run +75%. From what I read, some programs take up memory even after being closed out. I did some more searching and installed the Dynamic Resource Proxy and No Push Internet cabs from here. Now I run in the 50-60% range.
I am using the stock tilt 2 rom from AT&T. What does the dynamic resource proxy do?
Thanks!
Hi jcterry, nvm, i just read the forum you linked. Thanks alot for the help! If anyone have any other ideas to get the ram down or if my nam usage at76% is about normal let me know so i dont worry hehe
thanks all
From the "research" that I have done, the high RAM is normal. If you disable the TF3D, obviously it will drop even more (to around 37%). You can also soft reset periodically. When I do that, I start off with 49% but eventually it will go up. I haven't noticed any perfomance issues, so I haven't worried about it.

That depends a lot on the ROM you are using, normally a stock ROM comes with a lot of garbage on it and makes it more heavy RAM usage.
I would recommend to flash to a cooked ROM, but if you prefer to stay with stock, try to eliminate all the stuff you don´t use.
And don´t forget to vote for Rhodium!!

You should install CleanRAM if you haven't already.
This is one of a number of threads along a similar line I've read on this forum and that I don't understand.
What I don't understand is why having xx% used RAM is a problem. I mean if you have error messages that say there's not enough free RAM then fair enough but why would it matter otherwise ?
For some unkown reason there's a limit on the number of processes that are allowed to run (by the power of M$) so having some RAM cleaning software running constantly will only limit what else you can run.
If it"s not broken ........

Things can and frequently do run slower/sluggish/laggy when memory is heavily full even before there's an error message.
This is true, but with 25% free I'm not sure that that's the case here.
And having another process running in the background will defo slow things down, esp when it's active. And seeing as there's a limit on the number of processes you're "allowed" to run I don't think having a RAM cleaner contantly running is a good plan.

... my case ... apparently WM 6.5 (the new ROM, stock in my case) is much more of a memory hog than 6.1. I have had to become used to the phone freezing during and especially immediately after calls are finished.
One possible explanation could be that I have Auto Call Record installed and running... need to check how it affects RAM
MJ
Of course 6.5 is much more RAM hungry than 6.1
But making the proper tweaks is all about!
have a look on WVGA Tweak (if not installed on your ROM search it) it´s very good tool, as mentioned before
I had the same problem with memory usage. I found the best one to be "Perfect Black" for a cooked ROM. Take a look at some of my other posts. I did some testing with various versions and posted the results for the Rhodium and Raphael.
I get the same thing, too. I found this suggestion by Mighty Mike on ppcgeeks:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=85716
I tried the registry edit (changing sharememsize), and it seems to have worked. Aside from that, you can also disable TF3D, since it seems to eat up about 20MB.
