Hi all,
is it possible to save the original ROM before trying to install a new one? I need this because my provider doesn't support me with an original ROM of my MDA 3 compact (T-Mobile). Or can anyone support me with the original ROM? Do youi need further information for this (used versions or so)?
btw i was searching the forum for this and found a lot, but it seems to be quite hard and not working always. So is there no tool that backups everything, just like a total dump?

unfortunately i am not sure if they are identical to the roms i have installed. is there a way to find it out?

I am trying to unlock the extended ROM of the MDAcompact.
I can see the \Extended_ROM folder but it is write protected.
The unlocker for Universal and BlueAngel/Himalaya does not work.
Has anybody unlocked the extended rom of an magician successfully?
Have also searched this forum but could not find anything?

Is it possible to remove the write protection only?
AFAIK, there is no tool to unlock the Extended ROM of the Magician.
If you wish to use the extra storage.. try Big-Storage ROMs.. there are may of them in the FTP

to place my own cab file in the extended rom so
that it will be installed after hard reset.
But when not possible I cannot do this. :?
You can cook your own ROM if you wish, with your own Extended ROM files.. But this is a bit hard :?
I read a guid about this somewhere here ( in Magician upgrading ) it tells everything about creating you own BigStorage ROM with Extened ROM.. etc

This is my first message to this excellent forum. Congratulations to all people involved in developing solutions for our devices.
Yesterday I bought a qTek 9000, which came with software 1.13.64 WWE (unlocked, no provider). The machine works fine, apparently due to the fact that runs the latest firmware (judging from what I read here, such a nice operation was not always the case). After searching the forum, consulting the Wiki, I couldn't find a way of making a COMPLETE backup of the qTek ROM image (OS + Radio Code), so that I would have a safe backup before I start "playing" with the device
I tried the XDATools found in the Wiki and particularily the OS tool, but it didn't let me grab the ROM image. Can someone enlighted kindly direct me to the right tools for the job (grabbing the ROM image and then restoring it to the device). I have knowledge from the old iPAQ "Parrot days", but I assume that things should be more complicated now.

Actually, since your ROM is the WWE, you dont need to backup your ROM...
Just download the whole shipping ROM exe file.

I would like to help you, but I do not exactly how to extract my Rom...

As I also need a french rom, I looked to a solution to extract a rom.
On an article here explaining all the needed parts to upload an Hermes, I've seen that there is ways to do a dump of your rom but not an extraction (so, you'll get only parts of the rom, not the complete rom).
So, if you're not a really advanced user (I'm a complete new user...), there is no way to extract a rom and install it somewhere else!
I'm waiting for my dutch MDAIII hope I'll get it soon (normally, next week!)

How about that? I was for 2 hours trying to find it and could only find crappy patches with weird roms and utilities to bypass... that DO NOT WORK in Vista 64.
Dunno why nobody posted the original file? Its just run & upgrade, no need for workarounds...

Hi, can anyone get me an original PTG ROM for Artemis? I cant seem to find any working link and although I read the tutorial on how to backup my ROM (the original one) I am affraid I cannot do it myself... or on my own...
I have had problems before and had to send it for repair twice, but I don't wantto send it with another ROM, they might say it was that that chrashed it, or say it voided the warranty...

The wiki has a link to the factory standard ROM; however, it appears that HTC (where the link goes) has removed their Cingular 8125 support page. Does anyone have an alternate link to the factory ROM? I'd like to flash my ROM but I'd like to have what I need to flash back if necessary.

I'm in the same boat! I need the old ROM 1.03 to unlock the CID!
Every link I can find that supposedly takes you to the ROM is dead. I can't find one anywhere anymore.
Any news on this? I am kicking myself in the teeth for throwing out the old software CD that came with it. Anyone have the original CD and could maybe make an .iso? or just the original ROM would be great!!!
