Hi,
I have just started to try my first charge on my HD. I have not got the sim card or memory card installed, just the battery.
Should I be seeing some form of light or something when it is charging? As at the moment nothing seems to be happening, do I need the sim card & memory card installed to charge the phone?
The charging light is on the power button.
You should see a tiny LED at the power button. You may refer to the manual for further details on the colour and notification of the LED.
Well it looks like the plug in charger doesn't work . The actual USB cable does work though. Bloody annoying cos I will have to return the phone to get a replacement.
Hi AFK_Matrix!
my plug in charger didn't work either. Had to hold the usb cable at an angle to make it work.
I sent the charger and usb cable back to Clove and they sent me replacements by return of post.
I guess they took those out of a new box, put my faulty one's in it, and sent it all back to HTC.
Ofiaich
Well I just hope that Expansys are as nice as Clove!! Really don't fancy returning the whole phone!!
Hi AFK_Matrix,
I hope so too, I made it clear to Clove that I like the phone and do not want to be without it. I also said I would do a factory store and ask for a full refund, because I was within the 14 day period.
Good luck

Don't jump to a quick conclusion of returning your Phone.... See my topic ' Intermittent ReCharge Light'.
It looks like you have the same problem.
The only workaround I have found is if no light comes on, power the Phone down and then reconnect the USB power charger.
Plug it into the mains electric charger and you will then notice the red charging light will come on.
I have not found out yet what is causing the error but it does appear switching the phone off followed by connecting to the charger then makes it work.
Note: Once you have the red charge light showing you can then switch your Phone back on again if you want it operating whilst charging.
Me..... I just leave it off whilst it's charging as it doesn't take long and at least doing what I said above you do get the light changing from red to green when it is fully charged.
Beards.
Thanks for the suggestion Beards but I actually had the phone off when I first plugged it in and have tried wiggling the cable and pushing the plug in more etc and its having none of it!! So I am charging it via the computer, will be on the phone to expansys on Monday morning.
So sorry it didn't work for you.
Such a shame for you....... my heart goes out to your concerns.
Beards
Just thought I would give an update.
Just phoned up Expansys and barring any problems a new Charger should be with me by tomorrow or Wednesday. I didn't have to return the broken one either!!
I am feeling very happy that I went with Expansys, sure the deal may have been a bit more expensive but the Customer service of Expansys has been faultless!!! Plus I am only on a 12month contract so can change plans, providers etc next November.

That's great..... I just hope it was the charger and not the USB cable that is causing you grief.
....or worse it's neither!
Please do let us know. If it works I will be on the phone to Clove to request the same.
Beards.
Hi Beards,
Nope definetly not the cable as it charges fine if I hook it upto the PC. Its just the bit that plugs into the wall socket.
I will let you know when I get the replacement if it works (touch wood it does!!).
Fingers crossed for you mate....

Well looks like I spoke to soon. Just had an email from Expansys saying that they can't send out seperate parts and that I have to return the whole unit .
Just gotta confirm with them about payment for me shipping it back to them.
This seems quite drastic for what is needed.
Why not try and source a USB charger off the internet.
You can pick them up on ebay for just a couple of pounds.
Beards
Hi Beards,
Well I was a little annoyed too about having to send the phone back. So was in the middle of replying to the email saying that I really wouldn't want to return my phone but if I had to then I didn't want to have to pay to return it.
Then the phone rang and a nice gentleman from Expansys phoned and said ignore the RMA email as he was sending out one of Expansys's generic chargers to me I have just now recieved an email order confirmation for this charger.
I tell you Expansys haven't put a foot wrong yet!! (Touch wood this continues)
Hopefully the generic charger should do the trick.
I remember my Mio A701's charger wouldn't work and I got hold of one of these generic USB chargers and it did the trick.
What I found was the charger that came with the machine simply did not have enough power to charge the phone......

ok, on my xda mini s, if i plug the charger in at 2% to 99% it charges fine
but, i let the battery go so dead that it wont charge. so i bought another one and it did the same
is there a software fix for this? can i charge the batteries another way? both are only 6 weeks old and charge fine in my mates mini s (one of the first ones) mine is only 6 weeks old
its now getting very annoying
thanks
What are you running? G3 or G4, IPL/SPL, ROM version??
hi mate
ipl 2.21.001
spl 2.21.001
gsm 0.2.07.10
os 2.21.4.1
so just to clarify, I think there needs to be a tiny amount of power the the device to power it enough to recognise the charger is plugged in
i have 2 batteries with 0% energy - none will charge. The 3rd battery charges fine if more then 1% is left before I stick the charger in
thanks
Actually my boss had the same problem with his 8125. He was running wi-fi & music and it killed the battery all the way dead. I don't think there's a fix. He had to buy a new battery.

Looks like mfrazzz has the answer!
wow, ok i am a nuby and you might not like the solution but, every time my battery runs out completely and i cant charge it, disconnect the charger trust me on this one, lick the top of the charger connect it back and at first it will show a red light leave it there for about 4 minutes, then disconnect it and connect it back and your battery will start chargin again. trust me on this one ive done it like 4 times.

Just kidding around!!!
wow, amazing stuff thanks
can i get an external charger/docker for the batteries?
do ALL these devices have the same problem or just the newer ones? my old one didnt do it (unless it still had some power in it)
Thanks
There is both a battery charger that you stick your battery in and a cradle that charges both your Wizard and also has a slot for a second battery. I couldn't find the single battery charger, but the dock can be found by searching for 8125 twin cradle.

Ok, on my 8125 with the battery oriented exactly how it sits in the phone, the + is the top most contact and the - is the bottom most contact.
Here's a pic of a battery I found and you can just make out the + (red) / - (black) on the pic.

The above cradle can do all that, im not sure where it charges the second battery but expansys says it can
From the picture looks like the back is some form of lid, perhaps there is a battery slot under there
Steve
I've pre-orderd the cradle. I will let you know of it can charged a second battery.
Just checked with Expansys, and it is pre-order only. they expect the cradle to be in stock by the end of september. And i can confirm that it does have a second battery chargering slot.

I will definately pick one of these up. Im wondering if it is waise to wait until a week or 2 after it comes out for a proce drop or some aftermarket ones?
Did anyone get a random offer for this from expansys? Seems legit but its some sales rep writing you personally tellin gyou to order from him. Seems fishy

They had the craddle in stock and kindly threw in a couple of complimentary HTC lanyards. The price was £35.94 including UK 17.5% VAT & £6.77 next day shipping. This was a little cheaper than Expansys where the total cost would have been £38.47

It dosent charge a second battery... it looks smart but it dosent charge a second... waste of a good opertunity... rather annoying...
I suppose (for me anyway) it is a good addition to my desk as when I pick up the device to make a call I dont now get the disconnection sound notice in my other ear from the sennheiser mono head set that I use for my skype to landline calls... if that dosent make sense call me on skype (justin0679) & I will gladly explain in more detail...

PS. I am very happy with DEVICEWIRE - a helpful supplier
Has anyone found a cradle that works with the Sprint Touch Pro?
I have got one from Expansys.
It can charge your pro & your sencondary battery.
the 2nd battery can put under the lid.
it also can plug in a 3.5mm earphone, so when you charge your cellphone, you can listen to the music at the same time.
and the led show you whether they're fully charged.
very good device, but a little bigger than i think.
that's all.
Anyone tested this cradle with a TV-out cable?

Hi,
Expansys sell both an official HTC cradle and their own brand version. The official HTC cradle "CR G300" cannot charge a second battery. It does have a 3.5mm stereo jack for plugging in head phones or connecting to your amp to play music from the handset. It is a tidy looking piece of kit albeit prone to finger print marks.
The expansys TP cradle can charge a second battery as you point out. You can find non oe TP cradles on ebay which sell for a lot less that the expansys asking price for its own brand version.

Is it really necessary to pay the premium price for a 'genuine' charger?
The device charges from any USB port, so any car charger designed to power mini-USB socket devices should work, should it not?
Any USB charger will do the job.

I found with my 500mA charger, that while navigating for a long time (2 hours), my battery still drains..
The original HTC charger is a 2A charger, that can keep up charging while navigating.
Very interesting find there! I just ordered a Brodit kit for the car and this time round, I went for a active one so I just slot the phone in and it charges.
I will have to find out what current it gives out because I would potentially use navigation especially as I am recently finding the Audi one can be really crap!
On another note, I bought a premium HTC original one - it lasted all of a month and bearing in mind I must have used it 3 times in total...Was shocked!
What I found was that I had to hold it in a certain way to charge however, it was NOT the charger and it was NOT the phone.
For example, the charge worked fine on a Diamond1 but not 2.
For example, the phone worked with USB cables so its not the port.
Let's see how the brodit kit goes!
so can i use my old xda orbit charger and i have an old usb car charger adapter that was for something else so can i just stick in the td2 usb cable into that and charge it, i am just a bit overley concerned as i had to send 1st td2 back as it only held full charge for 45mins and i dont know if i damaged it by using wrong usb charger
I (we) have the HTC CC C100 USB Car Charger.

Nice and beautiful charger. We use it for my HTC TD2 and her HTC S310, earlier I used it for my TyTN II too. In my car there is a passive Brodit holder for my TD2.

I've a car of "premium" mark, so there must be a premium charger.
Black-Rose...where does your "premium-mark" have its charger connector? I consider mine to be "premium" too but the location of the cigg. plug is in such a bad location !
OK I have heard from Brodit this morning - very short and straight to the point reply:
Thank you for the mail.
Cigg plugg ca. 800 mAh
Fixed installation 2A
I don't have time to get it done properly in terms of the fixed installation and no doubt it will cost a lot more too for the product. I'll see how the 800mAh goes with navi too...if it's bad, then I'll have to invest in the HTC cable again and hope it works this time.
i use HTC CC C100 as well, which came with my Polaris. it works fine with both my last Nike and Topaz now.
OK Ended up telling Clove to cancel the Active holder and change for Passive
Just not worth the risk if Im lacking that much in the charger/current
But I got the new HTC C100 today - works fine with the phone
Hi everyone!! i'm desperate since i think i came with an expensive, unusable phone in my hands.
I read and searched thorough but there doesn't seem to be much clue on this, just one or two lost threads....
Someone care to drop a hint to help me ? ive lost all hopes.....
My x10a, after using it for , say, 1 month, rooted with latest xx23 firm (and used for a week or more , perfectly fine) ... some days ago, it stopped recognising USB port.
IT does not charge, with no existent charger or usb cord; it does not recognise usb connection of any kind, to any computer possible.
It lasted till last battery charge died, and no way to resucitate.
Afterwards, i came up with something: i bought a crappy, chinese battery-charger, drop my X10 battery overnight, and the phone then booted and worked fine.
So it is the USB connector/port/circuit. I even though of reflashing or re-rooting, but you can figure out that i can't do that anymore (no usb :S).
I can't give it back to SE or seller since it was brought overseas, and it even has some little marks on the corners (they'll just claim i dropped and so).
Any caritative soul please?
I opened following McKebapp guides, but didnt find nothing in particular.
Do you think i should risk in getting hands dirty and, say, re-solder an usb jack?
If not, i offer in sell all spare parts, almost new, or even sell it at a very good price, e.g. for bootloader experimenting....
Thanks !
Are you sure there is no gunk in the port or the cable's contact itself? Or even a bad cable?
Try this.
(1) Buy yourself a can of contact/electronics cleaner spray.
(2) Remove battery from phone to ensure you have no power going through there.
(3) Spray area clean and wait for it to dry.
Afterwards put battery back in, power up and plug in. See if that works
Yes, i tried all these... but nothing... Of course, i tried using up to 10 different usb cables, even bought new ones... but the strange thing is that nothing really happened, in order to mess or 'break' something on the phone...it was from one day to another... strange....
I wonder if the port is soldered to place on the board or is just spring contact based. I believe Bin4ry had his phone disassembled - you can ask him. If it is spring loaded contacts - there might be dirt underneath that needs to be cleaned up. If it is soldered - a joint might have broken and need resoldering.

OMG... NEVER do that to a PCB with BGAs...
You'll shorten the connectors underneath the BGA soldered chips by fluid that stays there thanks to capillary action.
@rodrigofd:
Here you can see the USB connector itself, on the very left side:

IF there is any mechanical failure, one or more of the five solder points in the middle of the connector is loosened.
But I can't believe it's a mechanical / solder problem.
Wiggle the USB charger cable a little, while having it plugged.
That way, you'll determine if there is any hairline crack.
If there is any, you can think of resolder it..
If you ask me, I'd say, some SMD fuse has blown up or there is an hairline crack between the PCB layers.
To determine that, you'll need a 3rd level schematics and some electric circuit reading knowledge.
If nothing helps:
Wait till there is a OTA Update that unroots the phone.
Then bring it to service..
The same thing happened to mine. While it was charging on my desk, and I was asleep.
I woke to find the phone on the floor but the USB cable was attached.
Using JuicePlotter (which had been running) it seemed that the phone had stopped charging around the time I had missed a call.
My detective skills allowed me to deduce that the phone was fine, but then when it rang - and started to vibrate - it rumbled its way off my desk. I believe it was not hitting the floor that damaged it - it's carpeted and not much of a drop - but the shock to the USB cable port as it swung itself off mydesk, effectively "hanging" itself.
I'm afraid I had no luck fixing it but it was only a week old so O2 replaced it immediately.
These days I ensure the phone is FIRMLY wedged somewhere when charging it.
Hi, I bought the 64 GB chinese version about a year ago. Today I was using it on the street like I normally do and when I arrived home, I was going to check whatsapp and my phone was just dead. I held the power button for more than 10 seconds and it didn't do anything. I tried to connect it to my PC but it didn't even appear as an USB device. It seems like a hardbrick or a hardware failure. I don't know what to do, I've just let it charging hoping the best.
I was using the last AOSP extended build.
UPDATE:
I don't know what really happened with my phone, I opened it up and tried to extract the battery. It started to bend a bit beacuse the glue was too strong so I connected it again and holded the power button for a last try. It worked, I don't know why but bending the battery fixed the problem.
UPDATE 2:
Ok, it died again I've just ordered a new battery because now it doesn't fix bending it.
I ordered this battery, I googled about the manufacturer and they seem reliable. I bought this one because I don't trust the "original" ones which are sold in aliexpress. I'll tell you how it works when it arrives.

UPDATE 3:
The battery finally arrived so I installed it and the phone wasn't powering up. I think it's not a battery problem because I blended the phone a bit and somehow it worked. I'm backing up all my data before it stops working again.
I shouldn't have threw the original battery to the trash, maybe it was ok.
I've been testing the phone a bit and a blue screen appeared so I had to reboot it. What does that mean?
UPDATE 4:
The phone died again the same day I installed the new battery. I was so done this problem that I bended it too much and the front and back glasses broke.
I ordered a new one which arrived today. It's the 6GB RAM 128GB ROM this time. I hope I won't have to deal with this weird problem again. I think it was a mainboard problem.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help.
Had you dropped it accidently anytime? The battery connectors might have become loose then?
Do you see any signs of battery failing? If it has disformed even a little you might need to replace it. In my country I can get my hands on 3900mAh or 4100 mAh for about 18-23 Euros which I believe is cheap!

Yeah but, as I said before, it was working perfectly fine until I arrived home.
I had the same issue .. at the beginning the following worked for me : I disconnected the battery and connect the charger . after 2-3 times of connect and disconnecting the charger the LED was back alive (red). Then I connect the battery and the phone startet Up.
But now this doesn't work anymore .. the battery is not the issue, cause if you add the charger without the battery the light should be red.
Now I ordered a new charging port dock connector, but I think that the Mainboard have a defect .. maybe cause of the heating issues or cause of a drop.
On AliExpress you get a "new" Mainboard for ~120€ ..so you can better buy a new phone.
Or maybe someone wants to sell his mind note 2 with a broken screen .. ?! PM me

I neither think it's a charging port problem because, when I connected the charger the mainboard, it had some electric current in it so it might be a mainboard issue. I ordered another Mi Note 2 because I really liked this phone and also bought the battery and front glass replacement so I don't want to throw them to the trash.
Now I'm trying to figure how to recover the data I couldn't back up from the broken phone.
