I am looking at getting a HTC 8125 but I want to know what you guy's thought the pro's and con's were? I looked at review's and such on the net but those are when they first come out, not when tested and put to use by the guy's and girl's on here. I had a Dash with 6.1 and I loved it, can you run 6 or 6.1 on the Wizard? Any pro's and con's would be great to hear. Thank's a lot ahead of time.
Dash? you mean the same as excaliburn
Well i cant tell you whats the pros and cons but I have many very powerfull for me.
Pro... The size is very handly!!!!! comfort you know...
Con... The slowly OMAP850 processor!!!!!! I think its the most important.
Pro... Is Touch screen, not a Smatphone, its a PDA, and compatible with many things like WM6 and WM6.1 with manila 2D
Con... Isnt 3G
Pro... It has amazing Stereo built in sound speakers...
Con... It has a mini Plugin audio

I have read dozens of reviews of the htc touch hd which really got me interested after ditching my iphone for an xperia. The xperia is quite fun but have many bad and good experience with it. Its really getting on my nerve about how slow it is sometimes and not much of a keyboard user except sometimes where its really useful. I want to know is the responsiveness on the htc touch hd any good compare to the iphone or xperia i have no troubles typing on a touch screen except those few grammar errors. The htc touch pro 2 really got me with the tilting action which is great for videos but has no fm radio nor does it have 3.5mm so please give me some opinions
Simply answer Touch HD is better choice for hard keyboard haters like me... HTC is very smart company, they produces for different customer profiles
xperia and hd share the same hardware so its the same old story, you wont get a hyperfast machine if u aint into tweaking and possibly rom flashing (eg kwbr's topix unleashed is a really fast rom, and duttys 3.4)
for tp2, i would never ever use a device like ours without a 3.5mm jack
maybe it's personal view and getting used to it but i type on hd better than on iphone
Not sure if you have seen this but someone has posted a comparison of Blackstone and TP2 in the Rhodium Forums. For me personally I don't like the bulk of the Rhodium. It's about 30 grams heavier than a Blackstone and more than 50 grams heavier than a Topaz. Suppose it's good to have choice of different form factors though
Sorry... should of read before posting...
I am thinking of upgrading from my Wizard, its a little slow on some aps (eg Opera) and doesn't have 3G. Are the Jades a good choice? Any others to consider?
The things I need are Windows mobile, 3G, WiFi and bluetooth. The GPS built in would be great as I wouldn't need to use a bluetooth one for MemoryMap, etc.
Also what price should I be able to get these for (in £)?
Looks pretty good, but....
I just picked up an Orange branded version, which to be fair could do with having the standard HTC Rom installed.
Pros are: I got this one for £150 (saw one go on ebay for £137) which I think is a good price for a phone PDA with the most current OS. Its SMALL, easily pocketable. Has a lot of good features and hi speed internet
Cons: I dont like the buttons much, and think that QVGA is a little poor for this day and age, no tilt sensor, only on screen keyboard and people do moan about the battery life.
As always, its depends what you want, I have a Touch Pro and a Kaiser, so am biased towards the keyboard models, but if its dinky you want, this could be the one.
Hope this helps...
MS
The Kaiser looks interesting, however I rarely used the keyboard on the Wizard. Presumably the Jade is also a tad faster.
Jade is fast. Also no hotfixes on offer in support section of htc website: there are already two for the new diamond.
i have both, Wizard and Jade.
Jade is thin, fast and good looking and the build in GPS is a major improvement.
I pimped the good ol' wizard with WM 6.1 ROM (hubby is using it), and i must admit.....it performs above expectations, though it looks like a refrigerator next to Jade.
I had an unlocked Touch HD which I was very saisified with until it was stolen recently (and unfortunatly uninsured).
Unfortunately my T-mobile to not stock the phone, but are offering me a free "upgrade" to the Compact V as a replacement.
As I was pretty thrilled with my Touch HD previously, my question to anyone who has experience of both phones is this : how does the Compact V measure up against the Touch HD in terms of functionality??
I'm not too concerned with scrren size / style etc,,, but need to know if speed / range of applications and functionality measure up,
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated as I have to decide asap whether to go with the free new MDA Compact V as a free option or spend out on a replacement offline Touch HD.
Thanks.
I've got an unlocked one so not sure if it compares. Once you get used to the size it is a great phone. The stock ROM from HTC is solid and everything just works very fast. The screen is fantastic super quality and you soon get used to the smaller size. The camera is fantastic and you can see the results clearly in HTC Album. It has a very handy zoom bar which works with the camera and selected applications. It is a lovely little gadget and something you imagine James Bond would carry around with him I don't think you will be sorry. I have a Blackstone too which is good of course but the D2 has more character and more up to date hardware and software.
Edit: Slight lag with GPS same as Blackstone but useable.
Thank you so much for your reply! This is exactly the feedback i was hoping for.
I'm very familiar with the Blackstone and was really comfortable with it. My concern was that i might lose some functionality moving to the MDA Compact V (I'm assuming D2 as you meantioned is the same device?? Couldnt find a forum for it on here (yet?)).
So, essentially it would make more sense for me to go for the free upgrade to the "D2" than to pay hundreds of pounds for a replacement Blackstone....
Thank you again for your very helpful feedback.

Also found this interesting comparison linky.

Hi Pal
The Compact V is the htc touch diamond 2 in with a little cosmetic changes.
I have one at work and it is very good and to be honest I would swap my HD for it any time.
Sully
The forum is Topaz. Your design will be a bit different than the unlocked D2 in the pocketnow video as it has some changes for TMobile as mentioned by hungabunga.

Hi, I had HTC D2 for 2 weeks. Excelent device,but...BUT the battery is very weak-with very mild usage got 1 day. So stick with proved HTC HD.
Hey guys,
I currently own a Sony Ericsson Xperia, and am possibly looking for a new phone. I love the look of a proper HTC phone, with Manilla ofc, because I love it, and they are good quality phones. I can't decide between a Diamond 2 (Topaz) or a Touch HD (Blackstone) and would like to know what you guys love so much about the Diamond 2.
Be it custom ROMs here, features etc. I would love to know what you like best =)
Thanks ^^
The only difference is that blackstone has a little large display but the resolutions are same.
And the blackstone has no zoombar. But its no problem.
If i were you i'd choose Blackstone.
Both worth to your money.
I love Topaz because it really feels more like a phone compared to the Diamond. I also like to watch alot of movies and series on my phone so a big screen was seomthing I needed (movies looks amazing on the screen btw).
The phone is really fluid and smooth and I haven't installed a Custom ROM because the Stock is really good (under 50% RAM usage all the time except when I watch movies of course).
If you like to listen to music and watch movies, pick the HD (it got 3.5mm jack, tho you can buy a adapter to the Topaz for $5 or something).
And now for a difference of opinion...
I find the blackstone to large for a day to day phone, and prefer the diamond 2....

I agree. I had the choice of either but chose the Touch Diamond 2 because the HD is too big for my pockets.
Man.
The TD2 can do VGA (640x480) videos, the HD can't. Though don't expect the quality to be as good as a proper camera doing VGA videos.
i'd keep your cash and stay away from htc all together...this phone is nothing but problems and faults.....just look at the board and see how many people are complaining about things with it.
I should've got an Iphone...even though i used to be very anti apple everything.......at least they work
I love my TD2 - I think it has a perfect size. It's snappy. I use it with SPB Mobile Shell and it works great. The only bad thing with the TD2 is battery life -I get under one day with heavy use..
If not TD2 I would definately not go for Blackstone -but wait for HTC Leo...........

Same here with the battery life, but if I let it in standby over the night (6-10 hours) I don't lose more than 10% on that time which I think is damn good.
I made a test yesterday and watched as many movies I could on the phone and I could watch a totalt of 3h 20min before it died (100% to 0%).

Ditto on the battery life. I find Manila a bit too finger friendly. I've got the Topaz Essential ROM and SPB Mobile shell 3 running on it and its real smooth. There are a few quirks here and there as with any other phone but HTC makes one of the best Windows Mobile phones on the market, great for business or pleasure.
I prefer Diamond 2 cuz the screen fits girls very much. Compared with it, HD is a little bit larger than that. I have to take the phone everyday and the HD is just too large for that.

I wouldn't listen to this. The Topaz is the best phone I've had yet... well worth your money!
I considered getting a blackstone, but I also found the screen too large. I would consider the Topaz to be an upgrade on the Blackstone. It has slightly more functionality, it looks better and since it's newer it seems to be better supported. (e.g. It will be getting the windows Mobile upgrade and a new Manila soon - Not sure if the blackstone will be getting these Of course you could always have these with a cooked ROM)
I just got mine for 2 weeks and so far I got no complaint.
When I try out Blackstone and Topaz I feel the touchscreen work slightly faster (this might due to firmware) and blackstone with silicone case cannot fit my pocket.
Also smaller screen with the same resolution just give you a crispy video playback and to my surprise the built-in media player actually work better than core player. (at least for h.264+aac encode).
PS. Go to hell with iphone I you love sending messages forgot about iphone. It would make your life harder. I usually a pro apple (owning power mac g3-5 + mac pro) but iphone is just a fad...

I prefer TD2 instead of HD, but that's just me...
Good luck to take the right decision for you!
Can any of you D2 owners compare the external speaker to lets say a BB 8900? I know it can't match TP2's speakers but how much worse is it?
The external speaker is located aft under the camera lens and lighting. Sound can be tuned to maximum loud and clear sound bearable. But there are many complaints as they coulcn't hear any audio (no ring, no alerts, no music) coming through the external speaker on BB 8900.
Does anyone know if the "rumored" 3G AT&T version of the D2 that's "supposed" to be released in October has 3.5 mm headphone jack? The leaked pictures do not show the top or lower edges of the phone. Some of the recent releases of the TP2 in the US and the new My Touch 2 have a 3.5mm jacks. I refuse to carry a dongle and the sound quality of Bluetooth headphones are not match for my UE IEMs. This is one feature that makes the iPhone very convenient.
YES!!
I owned a NOVA (ELF) for 2 years, which was not a bad device at all, but the new Diamond 2 is much better. The in-hand feeling is wonderful. I did not have problems until now and I am also happy with the battery duration.
hi guys,,in a couple of days I wanna buy this phone,,because I see its very beauty and smart..(Winmo 6.5 pro with a nice processor) ..but when I read threads in this section, I found there are some bugs for this phone.,and I become affraid to buy this phone...
do you have some reviews for this phone? I've read the review in many reviewsites, but I just wanna make it sure..review from the user is the most accurate one I think..^^..
HELP me please..I need review for the battery life, bugs,ad is it necesarry to update or modify the ROM?
thank you for the answers guys..I really2 hope to hear from you guys soon,,
I have the Touch 2 and I'm getting 2 days out of the supplied battery. This includes sending emails, using the wireless and bluetooth feature and making/receiving an average amount of calls.
I have found the operating system (wm 6.5 not wm 6.5.3) to be fine for me for now. The phone is very compact and sits in the hand nicely. In my opinion the touch screen on the Touch 2 is more responsive than my TYTN II. It helps that is has the 528 mHZ processor on board, which really compliments wm 6.5
I've also found this to be a reasonably good review.
<mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=8015> Sorry I'm not permitted to post outside links at this stage, you'll have to copy and paste the link in your browser.
Over all I'm happy with the phone, it's no HD2 that's for sure but it doesn't have the HD2 price tag either. If you decide to buy one after you have weighed up the pros and cons, then I'd say you'd be reasonably happy with your purchase.
I know I am.
I've attached a pic of the Touch 2 and my TYTN II side by side (sorry about the poor light)
