i got a used mda compact II and in one night i managed to really screw it up.
it came without a battery so i got a pm16 battery which i hope is the right one.
the battery meter shows nothing for the battery and does not display the internal battery meter at all. even when on battery, it seems the plug icon is on, on the main screen.
i was playing with it and reset the screen corners too far out. now i cannot access the menu items in the far corners. i tried a reset and a hard reset and nothing changed. even the keys don't access the far corner items. when i hit start i get calendar. the 'x' in the far right corner doesn't work
just now when i played with it, the landscape mode was on. how do i go back to portrait. i see no icons for that.
thanks a lot
i reinstalled 1.12 and was able to re-calibrate the screen
my battery indicator screen still does not work and still shows unknown for main battery and no display at all for back up battery
any help for that?
thanks
In my magician I got PM16A battery, which is supposed to be suitable for a QTEK S200 as well.
Regards, M
i take it that your battery indicators work correctly
i don't get green or amber lights from the led either. initially they flashed when i plugged in the power cord but now - nothing
my model number is pm200
Yes my batt.meters are functioning. Don't forget that with WM5 you don't need a backup battery & that's most likely the reason you don't see it in your panel.
You bought it second hand I presume. If not, how about warranty?
M
the battery i bought has run out of charge and the wall charger doesn't make it work.
i put in a complaint to paypal to get my money back.
obviously the reason the guy didn't include the battery was because i would have learned earlier that the unit is bad.
so it goes

Hey,
I've got a serious problem with my XDA Orbit. There is a white screen coming after the boot screen. Sometimes the phone even starts until the todays screen but after a while it is going white again.
I tried hardreset succesfully but the problem still appears. I cannot flash the official wm6 because when the screen goes white the connection to the computer is interrupted. I cannot go into the boot loader...
All the time when I press camera button and softreset the phone is just turning off. Has somebody an idea what I could do?
Any booting with MicroSD card maybe?
Or is it the battery? (I don't think so but it might...The battery was empty for a long time...?)
Or any other ideas?
Greets,
Kon
Just saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467648
maybe new battery helps
Li-Ion batteries should be stored charged. Leaving them uncharged can cause them to malfunction, try a new battery.
What do you mean by "stored charged?".
Do I have to have a charger like it is included in a cradle? Or is there another way to charge the battery?
I bought a new one but the same problem still appears...
Sorry to hear the new battery did not help. Have you tried starting the phone with the SIM and Memory card out?
Stored charged means the battery should be fully charged up before storing and every now and then taken out of storage, the charge level inspected and re-charged if required.
hi all, pls anyone knows how can i solve the issue of red led and not power up? i tried to connect first the charger and later put the batt and nothing, the fuzes are good, the batt its ok, i tried the instructions of mike channon and other topics and nothing again... i apreciate the schematics of this model, thks for your time.
I had a red LED on my device ones, that happened when my battery got flat drain. Maybe you can try charging it for an hour or more. Then try it again..
thks for your reply, i tried to charge for > 1 hr. wkth two batt. and nothing, i thing the failure is a component defect. for this i need the service manual for MB repair or schematics for make a plain of conections for determinate the issue.
Just in case... certain non-original batteries seem to have one of their sides made from metal or other conductive material. When such a side touches the metallic frame of the battery holder, here you go - the red light goes on and the phone won't boot up/charge.
I had to put a properly sized piece of paper between the battery and the frame on my Hermes to make it work with such a battery.
i am haveing the same problem but i have a factory battery ,i try changing battery ,maybe this may help it accour when i connected to my laptop to charging it ,it was working find then five mins befor then red light , and not powering back on need help plz
i had this problem for about 3 to 4 weeks nowi try everything different oem batterys , try car chargers , laptop usb charger , dest top charger usb , while chouching on another forum some1 say try rapidly placeing and removing a battery , i try it about 30 times and it worked!
THE RAPID REMOVAL/REINSTALLATION OF THE BATTERY WORKED!!!
Hi everyone,
I might have broken the screen on my HTC magic (sapphire) but i'm not completely sure. The screen does not show any signs of cracking, however shows a static screen of red green and blue horizontal lines (ill provide a picture). It is clear the phone still boots as it responds to touch (the vibrator goes off when I tap what would normally be my lock screen). Interestingly, the phone battery drains almost instantly (within 30 seconds) from a full charge and the processor gets warm, however, if I disconnect the screen it will remain on for a normal amount of time (vibrates, so I know it actually turned on, but no red light indicates battery is low).
So can anyone provide a diagnosis and possibly how I might be able to fix it? I appreciate any help.
Thank you.
I am not sure about your symptom. However, I found my htc magic had a vertical line last year but display ,multitouch, everything work fine. Luckily, it was in warranty, after I sent to the htc service center, they replaced my screen and the problem gone.
Thanks for the reply, did your screen look like the photo I provided of mine?, or was it just a single line through? I had a look on ebay, screens are only about $30 and by the look of things, not too hard to fit. However I am a bit hesitant as I cant be sure that the screen is the problem, because there's no signs of cracking, its just perfectly straight red green and blue bars vertically down the screen, which seems to me (i am far from an expert) like the screen isn't broken, the signal going to the screen is, also and it seems weird that the screen would cause the processor to heat up so much and drain the battery so fast. Anyone else with any ideas?
Hello i have problems in screen after charging. I noticed after charging, the sides of the screen had yellowish green tinge. After hours, it disappears and when i charge the phone again it reappears. Someone help me. Or does somebody experienced this issue?
P.S. no issues on screen responsiveness. Just the yellowish green tinge after charging.
Thank you for help.

Does it go away immediately if you reboot?
It does not. I also noticed when the background is black or green, the green tinge disappears. But when other colors are in the background, it appears. Do u think lcd has the problem?

Hello. As of now the green tinge is gone. I tried to take a photo but the green tinge is not noticeable. Can you tell me your idea? Thank you in advance.
Is it temperature-related?
Sounds to me like the glue holding the screen layers is loose, allowing the layers to become separated when the heat from charging expands one layer more than the other.
Do you fast charge? Try charging with a slow charger (it creates less heat) and if then the problem goes away, or is much less noticeable, I would try to RMA the device.

No sir. It did not heat much when charging. I tried lg charger they provided in the box and the green tinge appeared. But when i tried samsung fast charger green tinge DOES not appear. Their charging time was same (1hr 20mins). I just assume that the charger had the problem tho.

Well, this is strange since if both chargers fast charge, they should raise the temperature at the same level. And I can't think of any other reason other than temperature why you would see the yellow tinge.
Just to explain myself, I don't think the phone is overheating more than it should, I thought the screen was faulty.
Can't help why more than this, I'm glad you found a "fix".

Its strange for me too since they are both fast charge. And i used ampere app, they both max 2400mAh when charging (both samsung and lg) and fill the juice up for same time. Thanks for the help man. Im going to try other fast charger if they produce that annoying green tinge. But as of now, im using the samsung charger. So far, it does not produce any green tinge.
