My vogue is on the way and I have some questions. I know it has a gps chip built in.
I would like to know the following:
1) What rom / radio combination should I use to get the quickest agps lock?
2) Does the QPST hack for the titan to make gps lock within seconds work for the vogue? (Messing with gps one setting)
3) The vogue has enough memory to run pretty much any sound rom so I am more concerned with the gps lock rather than the performance so much, right?
4) How is vogue interaction with IGO 8?
5) Is there no Wifi radio built in?
6) Is there a hardware button on the outside that can be set to a screen rotate function?
7) What is the best on-screen keyboard?
8) Do those helicopter stick on transparent protectors really prevent scratching and scuffing, and are they too thick to be touch sensitive?
Thanks ahead of time.

does any one kows any software for auto screen rotation for htc touch dual?
thanks on advance.
Sorry, but for have the auto rotating screen, you must have the accelerometer (sorry, i dont know if in english is exact) wich is an hardware piece.
you need hardware for that , not software
Im guessing you wanted to make it like the iphone

Why iPhone? There's not just the iPhone whit this feature!
By the way, i wonder if its possible to install an accelerometer on a phone who doesn't have it.
yeah... not just iphone that have this feature. also available in HTC Diamond, Touch Pro and Touch HD.
Mobile phones nowadays are coming out with accelerometers built in, which is basically a device built into the phone that “tells” the phone which way it is being held up, down, left, right, moving etc.
Accelerometer is not a piece of software, it's a component inside the phone. So, if u guys need one, change to one of the phone that I mentioned earlier.
Hello
I tried many locking applications on my diamond. But i didn't find the one i need.
I'm looking for a program that locks screen and keys when the phone is inserted in its cover, and unlock when put out.
Example : my GPS is on, i put my phone in its cover using the earphones (i am on my motorbike), its in my pocket. I need to lock the screen and keys.
Thanks for your help.

Tx for your answer Shark.
Yes i tried it yesterday. The main problem i have is about lock. I have not found any program that locks the sreen and keys when the light sensor detects no light.
i'm using pocket shield which is a great locking software with many configuration including using light sensor to unlock u should give it a try

cheers
Tx Shonan.
I tried it, its good !
In fact my real problem is to lock the phone when i use my gps. Unlocking is not a real problem but locking is never depending on the light sensor.
Anyone ? thanks ...
I use S2U2 - before I put my diamond in the my jacket I press the power button and it sleeps the device. When somebody calls - S2U2 manages the call with slide2answer/ignore call - no chance to answer the call when pulling out the device out of my pocket. Where's the big deal with all this locking..I never had problems with it. (Sorry if I sound offensive, I am not offensive)

The light sensor is too unreliable for using it for locking purposes, so therefore it is only used in TouchLockPro for unlocking. Actually, the light sensor is not so sensitive, so if there seems to be plenty of light, the light sensor does not sense light.
TouchLockPro just locks by default, when you just press the power off button. Actually, for GPS usage, you can keep the device locked, without ever unlocking. Even it can go to suspend when the backlight goes off.

Brother, I had tried s2u2 for my diamond and it seem to be unstable if you are a frequent caller and lot of incoming call waiting on the other line during your cal season. You will feel the lagging and slow in the display to return to the normal displayed screen. There for I decide to uninstall it as what I need is a lock screen program that only lock the screen and that's what I need. Any one can help?
sensorlock 0.3.4 works great for me, just spin the phone in your hand and it's locked. I use it for GPS/music when running where I want the apps running but don't want to press the screen or buttons accidentally. It's on this forum.
I need this too, a lock based on the light sensor. Sensorlock doesnt work very well as it locks and unlocks on random movements (eg, when walking with it in your pocket), and not just gestures.
Hi all..
I recently bought a cheap carkit for in my car.
I use it in horizontally mode, this because i found it easier to use..
And my navigation is horizontally..
I don't want to use any hardware buttons. because there all in use.
Is it possible to use magnets? I know that u can rotate the screen, but
i'm wondering if it could harm your phone.. Any ideas?
I use one for the same purpose in my car. Works great, and there have been no ill effects thus far. I've probably had my car kit magnet setup for 4-5 months. In my mind, if you want to be as careful as possible do some research on how long it takes to demagnetize something, as the greatest risk is that you demagnetize the built-in magnet used for keyboard prompted keyboard switching. Also, but sure to use the smallest magnet you can find.
Use a button mapper, like AEButton plus to map a "double-click" rotate command to one of the hardware keys. No need of that barbaric magnet stuff lol.
Im after a app that will lock my htc diamond touch when i got my stylus plugged in and unlock it when i got it out ive managed to find one but it only works with roms with clocks above the battery my rom has not got this instead it has the battery life % so i would a appreciate if someone could make one of these apps private message me if anyone knows of one that already exists
use s2u2 it has that feature
i just downloaded it and it said something about double locking if i dont turn it off think it was soft lock or summit how do i turn this off
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
sorted finally figured out how to turn off my rom locking system fully and now with s2u2 it locks when stylus is in and unlocks when i take it out
pocketshield does this and many more
see Touch Lock Pro
it has many features: G sensor lock, Light Sensor lock, Stylus lock, Keyboard lock (for other models), HW touch lock, proximity lock etc.
you can enable/desable features according to your personal choicse
edit: s2u2 uses a lot of memory, but it uses about 34kb
hear you are works
ok install 1.1
then 1.7 and wallah
I love my new HD2, except ... when turned off and in my pocket (or wife's handbag) it will nearly always turn itself on. I normally find out too late, after it has made calls or changed settings, etc.
I can't for the life of me understand how anyone would design a device that will turn itself on after a single, gentle, short key press on the power button.
Is there any way (config. setting, registry hack or 3rd party app) that this can be prevented, accepting that a more complex turn on procedure will result?
Hey Steve,
You could take a look at TouchLockPRO from ZuinigeRijder - I use it on my (company issue) Touch PRO which was prone to doing exactly what you're finding with your HD2.
I've got my HD2 cased, so it stays off until I tell it otherwise - there are quite a few HD2 owners who use TouchLockPro although it works differently on the HD2 than it does on the TP due to the lack of touch sensitive button area etc.
I can't remember if, on the HD2, you can disable all the hardware buttons except, say, the volume buttons which you would press in a sequence to unlock it/turn it on.....
Have a look at the thread - all of the documentation is on the developers' site if you some more detailed information - and see what you think. The thread is pretty active still, so if you post a "How do I", you'll likely get a response PDQ
Hope that helps,
Mark.

TouchLockPro is a strong, lite lock! I use it on my Touch Pro2.
Thanks for the prompt assistance, guys, and I have taken a first look at TouchLockPro. Sadly, I'm having issues, though - I have tried the AutoLockOnPowerOn setting but can't get it to work. Not only does it take a good 30 seconds to 1 minute for the BattClock icon to appear after my Spb Mobile Shell has initialised (which gives the phone more than enough time to do its dirty work after accidental switch on) but TouchLockPro doesn't perform the lock as expected - it remains unlocked.
I guess a 'lock after turn on' feature is about the best workaround there is, as the power button turn on probably can't be changed.
I have also now started trialling PocketShield, and its 'lock after turn on' feature does work. I'll continue trialling both products, but if you can suggest how I might make TouchLockPro do what I want I'd appreciate it.
Why not leave it on and lock the screen? That would stop it making calls, although it might not stop the back-light from lighting whenever a button is accidentally pressed.
Personally I keep my phone is a belt pouch. This stops any accidental button presses and, most importantly, protects my phone against damage.

Because there are many situations when I want it switched off, or am required to have it switched off.

Good answer
How about pouching or casing the phone?

OK, OK I guess I'll have to Can't fit a case in my pocket, so I'll work on softening up the leather pouch that came with the 'phone!

I have a PDair pouch (belt-clip type) and there is definately no softening up required.

I had similar issues especially after handsfree operation while driving...tried pocketshield...liked it and purchased it.
I am fully satisfied with it...
