I KNOW HOW TO SET TIME but problems is when you hard restart or switch off this special device then you start it and then is time when devices was made.

oh btw.. you've said nothing about a soft reset. all youve talked about is cold boots and hard resets. a simple fix to a cold boot time issue is to change the time.
a soft reset issue can be fixed with the following after a cold boot.
well then... in the registry.... at least on windows mobile 6.0 and up
HKLM > Platform
this is what mine looks like.
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Platform]
"ColdBootConfig"=dword:00000001

Why doesn't the user have have access to the WM settings? I mean, if after a hard reset the user is able to change the internet settings to try and get connected, why can the user not also go into the time settings to adjust the date?

AutoUpdate of time on WM6

I am a frequent traveller, I travel a lot between Eastern and Central Time zones.
When my PPC was on WM5 it used to Auto update the time no matter which state I used to be in.
But ever since I updated my PPC to WM6 the AutoUpdate of clock stopped working. Can someone help me out
i did find a registry entry which I used.. I do timezone tab in Phone settings and it is checked to autoupdate and still the phone is unable to update the time from network.
anyhelp is greatly appreciated
You are seriously wondering why you are not getting full functionality out of a bootlegged OS?

I can't help with the WM6 question...but I am curious how you managed this with the WM5 OS. I have an 8125 and apparently a similar travel pattern. My device NEVER updates the time based on the network. How did you set this up when you were still running 5?
I am interested in how you got it working as well. Mine did not update once from the east coast to the west coast. Not even when making a call.
well i have a reg tweek that will change the time when you enter a diff time zone via the network...hope this is what your looking for....
Timezone and time update
In the branch HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting Change the value of the Key "ShowTimeZonesPage" to value of 1 (dword). Close your registry editor (no reset required) and tap START-SETTINGS-PHONE, there should be a new tab where you can automatically set the phone to get time and timezone information from the network. Really useful for me as I do extensive travelling. Tested on WM5

Yes! Its there on WM6 too!!!! Dont know if it actually works, yet to travel in a different timezone.
I have had it enabled in my registry in WM5 and WM6. It's NEVER worked for me. I change phones a lot so I'm always taking out the SIM card. When I do this, the battery comes out and it loses time/date.
I'd be curious on the details as well because I've never heard anyone that actually had it functioning!

I tested this tweak and it seems to work when I initiate flight mode and then turn flight mode off (which will be great when I land on the plane...the time will adjust automatically).
Will this update periodically check the time to ensure it's sync'd or will this only work when the phone initially communicates with the network?
acording to microsoft list of bugs in all from aku1 to aku3 this feature never worked and they never fixed it..... since crossbow has several parts of old aku roms my guess is it does not work either..... this feature is also carrier dependent if you manage to make it work.

My carrier supports it. My Wizard never did with the ROM hack or with Crossbow. So if it worked, I'd love to find out how! This at least makes me feel good that I'm not missing out on something...

upon doing some more reading aparently some aku3 roms now support it!!!
but in a diferent way. here it is;
Receiving Network Identity and Time Zone(NITZ) information is currently unsupported.
This feature was incorrectly documented to be supported by Windows Mobile Version 5.0 AKU3.0 in Windows Mobile Version 5.0 Documentation Release. NITZ is currently supported at Radio Interface Layer(RIL) only.

OK, so apparently this functionality is in fairly high demand...and since we're talking about WWAN devices, hasn't someone written an app that will periodically ping a time server (like PC OS's) and update the time on the device?
I am NOT a developer, so maybe I'm missing something obvious here. But it doesn't seem like a complicated concept for sure.
registry wizard does this
the xda-developers registry wizard allows you to make the registry tweak "show time zone s page" in both WM5 and WM6,- this put the time zone tab in phone-options, but the feature never worked for me. I called my provider to confirm if they supported it but the help desk was clueless- Would love to see if anyone got this working.
Confirmed working on my 8125 through the Cingular network. Before the hack I had to initiate a physical active sync through USB or manually change the time. Now if I go and change the time to say an hour ahead within 5 -10 seconds the time reverts back automatically.

Here is a quote and a link to a program I found on the Cingular/HTC forum:
"How hard would it be to go to the clock settings and select the "visiting" button and select the time zone you are in?
Works for me.
There are options for atomic clock server time sync. But that won't address time zone issues.
http://zdnetasia.com/downloads/handheld/swinfo/0,39043246,39175141s,00.htm
"
I don't go out of my own time zone, so I don't really have any issues with it. The registy hack has worked just fine on my 8125.

LOCK of device (Hermes)

Hi!
Question for you Hermes-Pro's.. ;-)
Because of policy of the company i work for - They make a setting on my device that makes it impossible to change the LOCK-time to manual. And it is not possible to turn off the LOCK of the device.
Is there a way in registry or a program that i can use to overrule it. ? - The problem is that whenever i use a program and it has been untoched for 15 minutes - I have to enter the pin-code again.. That is not the smartest thing, when i use it as navigation... I gotta keep my eyes on the road... ;-)
I hope someone here can help me out..
Thanks alot..
I did look for a thread with this kind of question, but didnt find any - So hopefully im not starting a thread on something that has been asked 10.000 times before.
Looking forward to hear from you guys..

This is not a Hermes issue as much as a Windows Mobile issue.
If I understand it you are using Active Sync Over-The-Air (OTA) synchronization? In that case, even if you manage to get rid of the policy it would simply reappear on the next sync.
As far as I know you will need to beg your sysadmins for help and understanding. Maybe they can remove or soften the policy for you.
Remember: Their goal is to make sure the information on you device is safe. Is there a way you can both win?
/m
Could you make a program or something that ran while your navigation program did so that it kept doing a key press or whatever it takes to stop the lock from coming on?
If i can just do it every time i need it..
I don't really care that it actually gets on again when i do a Active Sync.. Its just a problem, when i wanna run the program and it keeps coming every 15 minute.. I surely understand the policy of my company - But still .. Its a problem when i wanna run other programs on it... And i can't change it. Theres gotta be a way to change that settings in the registry or something?? Any ideas..
Thanks though for replying to my post...

Automatically time triggered soft reset

I just got my US version of hd2 a few days ago. I found it pretty buggy, but things got better if I do the soft reset. I did some searches on the forum and found a few programs that do that. But you have to manually click on it.
Say I want to reset my phone everyday at 3am. Is there a program that will automatically reset my phone at a specific time?
Thanks in advance.

I've been searching for a working task scheduler as well, that's what you need, just set the time, and the path to the file you want to run. But the one I downloaded simply doesn't work on the HD2.
Apparently, the only thing that works is downloading and installing mortscript, and have a script run on startup that calls a reset at a specified time. That way, right after a reset, you're sure it will reset again at the given time

Yes, I use a great program to automatically reset my phone during the night. It's incredibly small, and FREE.

Hi, EmZvr, thank you for your response and application, I appreciate it much.
Unfortunately it doesn't work because, My PDA could not boot into the OS (it hangs after BIOS Screen) so my PDA has no active partnertship (activeSync) to my PC.
Any Idea?
Hi MyMailx,
i appreciate there would be no possibility to access your device. I think the only way to fix it will be a hardreset.

Hi Bernhard, Thank you for your reply.
I read mostly the situation like this, performing HardReset is the best solution but I'll try to fix the problem before option HardReset I do, because I really want to save my email and especially my SMS before hardreset. It's worthed more than thousands dollar.
Could it possible through performing bootloader???
Hi,
I don't think that there s any way to get your date. You don't have backups?
I'd lost data soem years ago. Since that day i do daily backups on sd and never lost data again.
good luck anyway

[Problem] Device not Updating Correct Date & Time on 1st Boot

Hi Guys,
Need help on this. I flash my device every now and then and sometimes on 1st boot the device updates the dat and time to what it actually is. but sometimes it doesnt.
i use this reg but it doesnt work anymore:
Code:
;SET TIME FROM CELL TOWER
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"NITZEnable"=dword:1
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting]
"ShowNITZPage"=dword:1
i do not know what package i include or remove which causes this to happen.
can someone kindly help me out in fixing this.. i want my device to get the correct dat and time on 1st boot.
MOD EDIT: i merged two threads of yours that you started for the same problem.
This is what works for me (I don't even remember what the first key is; it's probably not important-the nitz one is the one that matters):
Code:
;*** Phone startup settings ***
;=================================
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\UMTS]
"OpMode"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"NITZEnable"=dword:00000001
You need to have your SIM in during boot-up for it to update the time. I then run a mortscript during second bootup that changes nitzenable to 0, so active sync doesn't run all the time.
Code:
RegWriteDWord("HKLM","\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL","NITZEnable",0)

to be honest i dont really know
does my location work for you or not?
on my phone my location works over all connections
so when i flash my rom i get pass the oobe(here it doesnt set time and date)
after oobe i get to enter my pincode and that takes me to the sense homescreenw ith the clock
then i get connectionsetup automaticly
when connectionsetup is finished it makes a connection to download the weather for my location and it also gives me date and time and timezone
i think it uses gprs as if i dont do the connectionsetup it doesnt update the time
but it could be the weather data contains those info when its requested
hope you have something usefull about this info

well... i found out that this is truely network depended.... my ROM usually set time and date... but occasionally when i flash a new rom of mine it doesn't set.. so i thought, [email protected]#*^~!!! NO!! So, what i did was a hard reset to see if this is true... and the very next time it does set time and date!!! So it has nothing to do with oobe or time zone auto fix.... at least not to me...
