I have a spam attack recently at my forum and synce then I've been using this:
http://www.stopforumspam.com/
It's a web that provides ip, mail and name validation for spamers.
There's an VBulletin plugin available at the VBulletin forum here that interacts with this stopforumspam for automatic online validation during user registration:
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=176481
I know this is not the best forum to post this... but as this is the one having the problems... I'm just trying to help you keep this awesome forum clean .
Hope this helps solving the problem...
Thanks for XDADevelopers!!

I have contacted many developers for making some progress in bootloader unlocking. Most of them replayed that they are not interested in joining the old thread because of spamming....So I am requesting the administrators to provide one more thread which is locked to the developers working on the project (I mean only the developers working on this project must be allowed to post there)....The old thread can be used for contribution from other members...In case some new members have to be added to the main thread it can be done on the developers request... If possible please make some arrangement for our developers...
Doing like this may bring back our valued developers.....
Wrong section mate!
Dev's area huh! sounds a great idea!
+1
sounds like a really good idea
+1!!!
But I think that it is not the problem, if they are annoyed with the spam, they should make this on another place, create something like they make on google to share their roms and there is an area to post the bugs. I donĀ“t know if there is a way to make it private, but I guess it can be done
It is vBulletin is capable of that and i guess there is a hidden here that can only be view exclusively.
Seeing the replay from many developers I was really sad and now I am not excepting our phone's bootloader to be unlocked in short time... ....Anyway thank you mates for supporting my idea
At last I got a positive replay from one of our great developer . . .
I'm sorry but your suggestion cannot be make, as far as i know only moderators have this power but you can try to pm to our User experience Svetius and see if he can help.
Moved to General.

it can, in kaskus forum, using vBulletin also, they have a subforum that only "VIP" member could access, and of course, moderators can also access it, but normal user, cannot, so i think its possible to be done. just need that recognized developer badge to access the new subforum

Yes...you are right....
Ohhh that, we have Recognized Developer private forum where only them (and mods) can see it and post inside.
OP request was a locked thread in dev forum for letting devs discuss and let normal member only to watch.........that's not possible, and btw every recognized developer does know of rec dev private forum.

Where talking about vBulletin here, even SMF have this feature. But your missing the point of af974.
"A locked thread in dev forum for letting devs discuss and let normal member only to watch.........that's not possible"
My idea was this...because it will let the developer to carry on with the project without any disturbance and will let others members like us to watch the progress...... Any way will have to stick to the options we have now.....
Why like this.

Because some new users just spam in the threads then. The purpose of it is so that new members get acquainted with the rules and don't spam.
sooooo new users should first spam other threads to be able to post at dev section

Trust me... it doesn't work as it should... the will to spam is unbeatable...
Indeed, Spam is invincible... BTW, i have 13 post and still unable to post in dev section :S
To prevent spam, floods, trolls and threads like these on dev's area. Call it "learning time".
to lessened posts like yours

You are posting to wrong thead..
so mean new user need spam on Q&A first... hehe
No. See what happened to a certain user. Spammed tanx........... everywhere, boom! BAN. Newcomers can make everyone's life easier by just not spamming and following rules. Spam anywhere, get an infraction. But dev forum is the most important forum, so to prevent devs ragequitting, a protection against newbies should be put in place. Life on xda is simple. Just follow rules and don't spam.

Well............... yeah. And don't forget vixkes. Rotflol.
New to posting but not new to the site.
I've been using the dev threads now for a few months. I have been playing around with SD ROMs for my HD2 and this site is unquestionably brilliant. One of the ROMS I found works great. Two things, 1. a senior member posted that he was getting the same problem I had which I solved and wanted to help him. and 2. USB tethering isn't working in this ROM. Just wanted to ask. But can't help 1 and can't post a question for 2 to these really great developers because I haven't been here long enough...I have zero intention of spamming and will look for solutions to the tethering problem. I just want to help. So what do I need to do to become a safe and sane XDA member without offending anyone or spamming just to get past the 10 post barrier?

Easy. Just try out stuff or offer your view on something but WITHOUT posting pointlessly. Have fun on XDA .
I want to bring your attention to some of the forum rules. They are done to improve XDA-developers.com and for you to get the best of this great community. Not following this rules you show disrespect to any other member.
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.

3. Post only using a clear subject and message.
You're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a short subject title that describes your problem and a message that explains in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it.

5. Post a message only once.
As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time, it might take a while before you receive an answer.

General - Question & Answer section is not a place where everyone can open a new thread with the own question. It is needed to search before, read the sticky threads, read the wikis, read and read once again, and post in an existing thread, if necessary. Repetitive topics will be deleted/closed without previous notice. Topics like 'urgent help' or 'do I brick my phone?' and so will be deleted/closed. Infractions issued to reiterative members. Remember XDA-Developers.com is about development. That includes Q&A section! Thanks for your cooperation. Best regards,
what's this
is this mean that I hava to edit this before I can start a thread?
I know and thanks very much!
thank you
Ynt: Attention !!! Please read before start a new thread

Hello, I have been assigned as a moderator to the HTC Wildfire.
Please dont hesitate to contact me if you have any issues regarding your stay here in the Wildfire section.
Enjoy
Welcome
Luckily we're more of a quiet and slow community here, except for those few that seem to just think that we're all here for them. (And the pirates)

hi and welcome. hope you have fun with us all.
ok now please dont take this personal,i am just asking a question out of confusion.... how does xda decide a moderator for a devices forum !! i thought it would make more sense if an active user from the actual wildfire threads was to be come a moderator, now i mean no disrespect but ive not seen you around here ( wildfire ) before ? im in no way saying your not active in other threads but i was under the impression that this was how xda moderators was chosen ?
kindest regards as always slymobi.
Well moderators are not device specific.
Lets say there is a pool of moderators and when the need for moderation for a specific forum arises, then one of us take it.
PS You can see the different forums I moderate in my signature

Dear moderator! since some servers (like multiuploader) are down please notify to correct all non-working links. thanks
This is not something a moderator does.
You have to contact the devs for them to renew their links.
Either post in their thread or message by pm.
Cheers
