Anyone know of a way to default to use your local home/office wireless if its connected, but switch to VZW if local wireless is not available/connected?
Any application that requests a network connection would just use the current connection(local), but kick the vzw connection if needed.

I have a BTOpenzone account which allows me to connect to the net wirelessly at TMobile Hotspot locations. I can detect that the TMobile network is available but I can't get a connection. Anyone know what the settings are? This should just work....but it doesn't!
You need to log on at the default hotspot page. Most t-mobile hotspots have a problem automatically directing Pocket explorer.
Once you are connected try browsing to:
https://hotspot.t-mobile.net/wlan/index.do?lang=en_GB
Sometimes works but not always
BT Openzone doesn't seem to have this problem.
Hi,
I am having trouble using wifi on my O2 XDA Mini S (Wizard) to access both the internet and shared directories on my office network.
If I have a wireless laptop PC, then once it has connected to its base station it will transparently access both the internet and shared drives over that wireless network.
But with the Wizard things seem to be different. Instead I have to go to settings | network cards and explicitly say whether the wireless network is for internet access or for "work" access. And change that setting again when I want to change which destination (internet, or shared drive) I am accessing. All this despite exactly the same wireless network being used.
Please tell me this isn't necessary and I have just missed something Is there a way of configuring wireless network access on the Wizard to transparently access both the internet and shared drives?

Anybody? Surely others have experienced this problem?

How do you select what network connection to use? 99% of the time I only ever want the phone to connect to the internet over Wifi (or bluetooth/cable connection to the computer) and not using Cingular's network. There is the occasional time that I would like to enable that but most of the time I want to only use the Wifi. Where can I set so it doesn't connect to Cingular accidentally (say if I'm out of Wifi range or hit the wrong button) so i don't get large data charges?
Thanks
In connexion option set default internet connexion as "my work network" and privat network default as "my work network" as well.
So lemme just confirm something - unless I configure server settings on the a HTC TyTN (using stock rom) on the Cingular network - it will not be able to use Cingulars network right? The only time I will be able to access the internet with the phone is over wifi, bluetooth connection (or USB) with an internet enabled computer. Otherwise the internet will not function and I will not be charged data charges correct?
I don't really ever find myself using the internet on a phone when I'm away from home so I can't justify the expense of the data service but I work on a few websites that I'd like to look good on a cellphone so that's my main reason for wanting internet access on it - so while I'm at work I can log into the wifi system and test the site while I'm tweaking the code.
Am I correct in assuming that I shouldn't be charged under this situation?
Hi, I'm on Vodafone and I made the changes fun_key posted without noting down the original settings. Please can someone tell me what the default settings are for internet connection and private network connection. Thanks
I've just purchased the wireless router to use with TMobile's @home service for my home phone.
Supposedly, cellphones can call via IP through this router, which would be a good thing since I have virtually no signal at my new house. I have an MDA phone and it has a ROM cooked by MFrazz and has an internet dialling option but no apparent settings or configuration with it.
As I understand it, to use the TMO hotspot/wifi in my house, I'll need to be able to have the phone acquire some kind of security setting.
Does anyone know whether the MDA will be able to call via internet once set up? Or is there something I need to do on the phone?
Thanks,
Bob
I have a 6800 with Verizon and I attend Penn State at the main campus. We have group authenticated VPN security for our on campus wireless. I downloaded BlueFire mobile VPN because it has group authentication capabilities. I connect to the Penn State wireless and then connect with the VPN client, however I notice that my phone calls the 777 number to access the VPN server for some reason, even though I have wireless. I messed around with connection settings, but got no results. My issue with this is that I don't have any data plan because I don't want to pay for it and the data call eats up my minutes.
Does anyone know how to properly set up the connection settings so that I don't pour money into Verizon's pockets?
Also, I don't think this is possible but I might as well ask... is there any way to use the VPN software included with WM to connect to group authenticated VPN servers?
Any clues?
Have you tried turning off data connection?
