Can TMO Wizard call via TMO Wifi on wireless router? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I've just purchased the wireless router to use with TMobile's @home service for my home phone.
Supposedly, cellphones can call via IP through this router, which would be a good thing since I have virtually no signal at my new house. I have an MDA phone and it has a ROM cooked by MFrazz and has an internet dialling option but no apparent settings or configuration with it.
As I understand it, to use the TMO hotspot/wifi in my house, I'll need to be able to have the phone acquire some kind of security setting.
Does anyone know whether the MDA will be able to call via internet once set up? Or is there something I need to do on the phone?
Thanks,
Bob

my own ISP dialup

hello
i have a pc under xp running with an Dsl modem.
on an other part i have a pocket pc.
i want to plug a dialup modem (low rate) to my pc.
and i want to connect to this dialup modem with my ppc in order to get access to Internet. do you think is it possible please?
Actually i want to build my own ISP service, i read about a RAS connexion but i am not sure.
can someone help me ?
thanx
gsm phones cant use normal analog modems to connect to
i think at least thats what my old motorola phone manual said
so using that to access the isp oldschool non grps way
the isp had to support to data gsm
re
i use a pocketpc and i read it is possible with pocketlance but i am not sure about the result in regards of the my objective (to be an isp provider for only myself) using poitn to point connection. any ideas?
I was thinking the same thing today after my broadband (lack of) problem. I am palnning to attemp something myself like this. I can tell you that it is possible and that I have in the past established a dial up connection from my ppc to my pc. It was using an audiovox rtm8000 gsm card, the gprs tool that came with it let me specify the number for gprs and when I used my home phone number to dial my pc with incoming dial up activated I was able to establish a connection and use terminal services client. This is not a practical permanent solution because the software expected the connection to behave like gprs, ie if it was inactive for a time it would quickly dissconect. I can get a telsta business plan (using my abn) that has 35c untimed calls so basically for 35c I could use my home internet unlimited - all be it at a very slow connection speed.
Yes it is possible to call a remote modem located on a windows or linux machine with a RAS installed.
However, to be able to tranfert datas, you need a data subscription in addition of your voice subcription.

That depends on where you are. Here (aus) every gsm sim I have bought had csd enabled on the same number for no cost. I have had friends who were required to use a different data number but thats a thing of the past here. Thats why I am shocked to find that Telstra disable csd on the roaming service they provide to 3(three) customers - I need it!
I would have thought it would be cheaper / simpler to "tunnel" into a machine using vpn having first connected to a gprs provider, as csd (data over gsm) is allways a charged call, despite many contracts saying inclusive free calls to local numbers (in the UK anyway)

8125 wifi (please help)

Hi,
I just purchased the htc 8125 from cingular at full retail WITHOUT a plan
for use on my trips to Hong Kong using my sim card from a Hong Kong
provider.
While in the USA I would like to use the 8125 to access the internet without
a sim card installed and without cingular service. Wifi does recognize available
networks but I cant open any web pages.
Can you please tell me how to configure the phone to do this. I believe it is
by default programmed to use cingular's access services but I want to configure it to work as a stand alone device similar to a laptop looking for wifi signals to connect to the web.
Please help! Thank you.
David
WiFi is not configured to be used with anything of cingular...WiFi is a standalone feature in the PDA...the reason that you couldn't see a web page could possibly mean that the network you connected to had a WEP encryption...u must connect to an open network in order for it to work...
try this
I have been having problems with my wifi too...the only way that I can get it to work is to say the wifi connects to 'work' and to say that programs connecting to the internet should connect using 'My Work Network'
Turn on your WiFi
Start->Settings->'Connections' tab->WiFi or Network Cards->tap the network you want to use->under 'connects to:' chose: 'Work'->next->next->finish->ok
Start->Settings->'Connections' tab-> Connections->'Advanced' tab->programs connecting to the internet should connect using: 'My Work Network'->ok
hope this will work for you and if anyone knows how I can get around having to change this every time I want to go from GPRS to WiFi I would be much appreciated.
Haha - I just found it...someone else just posted it

Unable to connect to WiFi

Hi guys,
Got my Xperia recently on Vodafone UK network. Had problems with Wifi connection as it wouldnt connect to my home local wireless network although all security keys were right. So decided to flash it to the generic UK ROM...did so and everything else is working just the way it is...but the WiFi problem still exists. I cannot connect to my home wireless network. I can see my network, can click connect and it prompts for my network key...I've put the correct one in and it scans for a little while and then a message 'unable to connect to network, please check your network or service provider settings.'
Any idea? This phone seems like a total waste of time and money if I dont make use of it connectivity to the max! Please please please advise!
many people exp problems like this with phones with wifi and iphones and ipod touch and other portable wifi devices
most success seem to be with upgrading the firmware of ones wifi router
other people use changing to another encryption form like wpa or wpa2
wifi
i had the same problem with my netgear router, but all i had to do was log on to the router with my pc, where all the settings are and allow the connection with my X1's mac/IP address. hope this helps.
THanks for all the info guys...I have upgraded the firmware for my wireless router and it works now, I can log on with the Xperia to the WiFi. However...I still cannot use it to do anything useful. I try login on to Windows live...no...Skype...no...Opera...no. Although it is connected to the WiFi, it does not seem to be able to surf the internet. Any ideas?
well.. I would first try to disable any security to make sure your router and the phone can talk first....
now I have just got my phone 2 days ago and since then I have been using wifi all day long.... I can get on msn live and skype and opera and youtube etc... if you want to try it is the phone or the router just try to logon to another router and see... otherwise you can try bringing your phone back to the shop =P

Anyone get on how to get free internet on tmobile wing

does any one know how to get free internet on a tmobile wing without already have the internet.
Either get a data plan or connect via wifi. Thats it.
i tried the wifi it it wont work for some reason
what rom are you using?
do you need permission from the network to log on?
Check you security?
Depending on how long you have had T-Mobile service it use to be T-Zones, T-Mobile Web and today is web2go. I continue to have T-Mobile Web at $5.99. Okay, the only changes you need to concern yourself with web2go is the APN; it is no longer wap.voicestream.com and configure the proxy. Today it is simply; epc.tmobile.com and you don't have to bother doing anything else except download the Network .CAB or do it manually yourself. Today there are more data plans than you can shake a stick at and the bottom line, they are more expensive today than before and you may have to experiment with what works for you.
The $5.99 plan works fine. It's not 3G, but EDGE is faster now that it is on the updated APN. There is the HotSpot Utility for places like Starbucks and airports and finally there is Wi-Fi. If you're using strictly a "wired" access router you will need to buy a way to make your connection wireless. If like AT&T's 2Wire routers which like mine are wireless check to see if your security is enabled. My 2Wire965 came defaulted enabled but can be disabled. If enabled you're going to need that information and add those settings to your Wing/Herald which will prompt you for those settings once you configure wi-fi via the communication manager.
I hope this helps; take care!

internet sharing while phone call

Hi,
I have a problem, while I share internet connection and make a phone call the phone change the connection technology form HSDPA to GPRS. How can I disable this function because I want to use fast internet connection even when I make phone call?
Using GPRS should not disable a HSPA connection. You can still browse the internet whilst on a phone call, which is exactly that.
You mentioned sharing the internet connection. Are you saying that you want to use the internet connection from your phone on another device whilst you're making a call?
I share the internet connection to my pc. I usually use vnc client through vpn tunnel and make phone call to describe something to my client. When the conversation starts the connection is changed form hsdpa to gprs. Gprs is too slow for vnc or remote desktop so I need HSDPA.
I know I can use GPRS and HSDPA or 3G at the same time, so this may be an issue with your network provider. Personally, I don't think this info will help me help you in the slightest, but it may help someone else help you...
What network are you with?
Is (was) your phone locked?
Where are you?
That info may well be relevant, as I do know that some setups can mean that you can only use one connection at a time, whereas most mean you can use multiple connections.
I'm form Poland and my operator is orange pl. What is strange hd2 is my second htc device. Previous device tytn II works without any problems also in orange network.
I have a question as well! I'm on tmobile and I live in south florida and I cant talk and use Internet at the same time, why not?
Turn off the Autodisconnect option. i had the same problem, as long this was turned on.
where can I find this option?
i had a problem when i was on a call. my Msn will disconnect after a few mins of call. any idea how to stay connect ?
