I just recently replaced part of my Titan's chassis/housing with one I ordered from Brando to fix my failing keyboard. The replacement went pretty much without a hitch but now after replacing *only* the keyboard section my phone's lost the ability to detect the keyboard sliding open or closed. By default, immediately on boot, the screen is sideways - the way it should be with the keyboard open, despite the fact that it's closed.
Has anyone ever gone through this before? Does anyone know where the "slide sensor" is located?
I've dismantled and reassembled the device many times but haven't had this happen before. My only hunch is that the switch probably lives somewhere in the electronics associated with the keyboard itself and that the "new" case from Brando may somehow be defective. I can't test it though as my old keyboard has been destroyed in my attempt to discover why it failed.
Also, I've been scouring the web looking for a service manual for the Titan but haven't had any luck. Mike Channon's collection of manuals is impressive for sure (that guy rocks) but there's nothing for the Titan on his site. Anyone have a Titan manual?
So in my search for information I've looked at just about every HTC service manual available on the web. Going through these I haven't found any devices that are even remotely built similar to the Titan from a keyboard and/or sliding perspective. The closest appeared to be the Hermes but it differs substantially when it comes to the keyboard...
So has anyone ever found a service manual for this phone? Looking at the other manuals is such a tease, given the detailed info found in them.
I do not know how the slide sensor works, but I would guess that it is a magnetic sensor.
If you do come by a service manual for the Titan, please post it.

I've inspected the entire old keyboard assembly and haven't found anything that directly resembles a magnetic switch but I could be missing something.
Thus far I've Google searched for about 3 hours off and on searching for a service or repair manual and found nothing. I Google technical information all day for a living so I'm pretty confident in my Google skills. Right now it looks to me like nobody's leaked or found a manual yet. I'm really, really hoping that someone here can post one since XDA's full of brilliant, well-connected folks...

I got my Exec yesterday, and have found a wealth of information on these pages - thanks to you all!
There is, however, one thing that I cannot find a way to sort out. It may seem minor, but it is driving me mental!
I have been using a PPC for reading books for years, and will be using the Exec for this. However, right in my field of vision there is always a flashing green ligh. This is the service light for the phone function, I believe. The only way that I have found to turn it off is to switch off the phone function, which is not an option, really.
Is there any other way to switch it off?
nope :¬D it's a known problem. the driver for it is in a chip soldered on the mainboard so there's not really a way to update it.
Ah well, thanks for clarifying that - I thought I was missing something very simple!
I'm going for a high tech solution - black electrician's tape is a very close match for the case colour!
I search the forums and couldn't find any info
My screen is havin g issues where it seems as though something is constantly tapping on the top right conner.
In Portrait:
as soon as I open an it is immiediatly closed.
Landscape:
The start menu flips out and opens and closes as if you were tapping on it as fast as humanly possible.
Anyone see this?
Its really pisses me of because this is my 3rd replacement Hermes and its only 4 days old!!!!!
mikechannon is generally the total guru on this stuff, His website is a good place to look as he might have mentioned it.
I dont see anything on screens
Looks like I'll have to send this one back too
Some much BS this my third hermes since I got the damn thing in february
Same thing happened to me with my 8525, I sent it back to Cingular and they replaced the unit. Mike, suggested taking the unit apart and putting it back together (Which worked for some folks having this issue), but as I was still under warranty I sent mine back.
I dealt with this for a few days and it drove me crazy. I hope you get this sorted out.
Sorry to hear you are having this problem!
Same for me but mine started once I upgraded to WM6 and is even there after downgrading to WM5. My replacement comes in next week.

I'm sorry to say this is not good news and has come up quite a few times previously.
Commonly, though not always this starts after the device has been on for a while and heat has built up, putting pressure on the top right corner. In portrait, programmes will minimize/close as it presses the "X", and in landscape the start Menu will appear.
You can try the Screen Alignment fixes - business card slid atround under the bezel to relieve and pressure/clear out any dust etc but this is not guaranteed to work.
Below I have copied some of the previous links, but my advice - get a warranty replacement and if you are forced into getting a repair job then thouroughly test the device using heat generating applications (Wifi) etc to be sure it's really fixed.

Does anyone Know which serial numbers are good phones
HI
I have a v1605 with serial HT648.
I am currently having this problem and i am thinking of getting a replacement.
I have read in some threads that this problem was mainly in units with SN 630 and below yet i have also read one guy with serial 647 having similar problem.
Has anyone figured out what is the "Safe" serial number - or can people who do not have any of this problem post their serial number.
Ken
I had this exact same problem with my v1605. Took it back to the Vodafone shop I got it from and they sent it back to HTC for repair. I ended up getting a replacement phone back and haven't had any issues with it.
Yup i think that is what i will end up doing - i am just worried that replacement will also be faulty - i hope not.

As I have stated in several other posts get a replacement (as you say) not a repair if possible. I would not worry too much - although we see these cases reported here they are in reality only a tiny fraction of the number of hermes around.
Mike
Sound like the same problem I have, the start menu flickers on and off like crazy. Pressing the start button stops it, but just briefly.
Keyboard input often stops working.
I think my warranty has run out, anywhere I can get it fixed for cheap? Anything I could attempt myself?
Long story short, I bought an extended battery kit from eBay, whilst being marked as being compatible with my Universal (T-Mobile MDA Pro) it didn't quite fit and ever since my Universal has been crashing.
It seems to be linked to physical movement, rotating the screen or anything more than a gentle tap makes it crash; either by LCD corruption or by a teal-screen-of-death (think of the default desktop colour of windows 98).
Once in every maybe 10 attempts I can get it to start up with the screen in portrait mode and then put it in my cradle to use for sat nav, but any attempt to use it for anything else results in a lock-up.
I removed the one screw that holds the LCD unit to the hinge and moved that around a little whilst I'd got it to boot up and it didn't crash, however touching the base with anything more than a feather touch makes it crash so I'm pretty sure the LCD unit is a-okay but the base has the problem. I have not and will not unscrew the base unit because I don't want to void the warranty unless it's a sure guarantee I can fix the problem.
The company that sold me the battery (for now I'm not naming them because they may still rectify my fault) said they'd take the battery and the universal back for analysis but they won't give me a guarantee that they'll get it fixed, they want to send it off to a repair center and personally I'm wary of trusting them to give a fair response.
Does anyone know if there's a way to rectify this fault? It's pretty much rendered my Universal a brick, I'd love to get it working again can anyone advise?
Once upon a time when I woke up with a bad mood, I threw my phone away to stop the alarm.. Since that moment my I/O button which is on top of the phone (the one you switch the LCD's blacklight on and off) is hard to push.
The 'clicking-system' is (I think) dented in, and from the surface it actually looks like that too. It still works though, but you have to press really hard.
I asked at the local phone shop what my invoice would look like if I have it repaired by them and I found out it would be better to do it myself.
The problem is that although all the parts which are available on internet, this button is really hard to get. I can;t even find it on eBay (maybe I just search the wrong way).
Does anyone know where to get this, and if it hard to solder it (if needed)?
I am located in The Netherlands, so I prefer something that SHIPS to NL.
I found this (https://www.gsm4world.us/htc-touch-...lex-cable-lcd-key-ear-repair-d-02961_405.html) but I don't know if it will do the job.
Thank in advance guys!
Does anyone know?
gsm4world.us has almost full line of parts for the fuze/tp
Sorry I can't be of more use, but some searching on eBay will show that you can get the same part as on GSM4World a bit cheaper:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HTC-TOUCH-PRO...Accessories?hash=item1c0ce8e08a#ht_2173wt_939
Edit: Actually, I'm not convinced that the part you suggested is the one you need. I think you should hold off buying anything until someone can tell you for certain which is best.

Hi, Recently my Touch pro's motherboard gone dead.
Like yours HTC service center gave me estimate equal of new device so i listed parts to help others.
If your device is still facing the same problem please PM me with problem & picture, it will help us to decide which part you actually need.
The link posted by you is whole switching system, but i believe you just need plastic part of power button
1. I had to replace the screen a little while ago. All went well except that I damaged my on/off switch button and I need to replace it. I'd also like to replace the volume pushbutton as I bent, but, was able to this one back in shape. The on/off button is held in place by a piece of tape.
I can find replacement buttons for the moto g4, but, the picture looks to be different than what I remember. It is confusing that they have several phones with such a similar name. I also know that many online places don't necessarily even use the correct picture for the specific item on sale to begin with.
I did find an official motorola online forum where they just said that phone has no user repairable parts. I guess I'm a technician/user then and need a replacement part. I never did figure out how to log in to that forum to try to get an answer or even part number.
I managed to damage the part when removing it, but, I imagine they would survive pretty much everything else the might destroy a phone. I haven't really been able to find any listing of very broken ones either.
Any help?
2. I also notice that while playing music via bluetooth to my car stereo that sometimes there is some noise. It sort of sounds like you would get if a potentiometer needs cleaning or the output jack has dirty contacts or gets jostled. Then I remember there are no wires and no potentiometers involved in this situation.
I did read somewhere that this is just a problem with that phone and there is no fix. I get it, it is basically a throw away phone, but, is this really the case. Was this an issue, was their a fix? and/or is there a way to get a replacement that doesn't have this problem or some way to upgrade to another model that doesn't have this issue more affordable?
