I'm just about to try and install the Syrius R0 ROM on my XDA Orbit II. Just wondering if there is anything I need to do first like SIM/ CID unlocking etc? If so how do I do it?
Cheers
mate, not being funny, but dont ask questions like that as full instructions are on the thread with the rom ( and you will be told to use the thread search tools, lol), and if you are asking questions like that it is highly not recomended to flash your device if you dont know what you are doing, hopefully i have got the wrong idea of what you meant, in any case,
click http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425612 and follow instructions. you need to hard spl your device,
do hard reset first, then flash then hard reset and everything shoudl run smoothly, dont use vista if you do it wont work, well it didnt on mine, use an xp machine.
hope all works out for you!!
cid unlocking, check the hardspl thread here
The o2 Orbit 2 has no SIM/NET lock at all.
Just do Hard-SPL, if something goes wrong while flashing, you can recover it.

But all three simultaneously at 3:10 (GMT+2)
Ok, stop spamming
Vista is often causing errors. XP is recommended...
Cheers, I had read through the instructions etc but the XDA dev wiki says that before you find the ROM you should CID unlock the device, couldn't find anything explicitly saying that Hard SPL is doing this and figured I'd rather ask an obvious question than risk bricking by beloved Orbit II.
Think I might have to risk trying it with Vista, only XP installations I've got are VMware ones on Ubuntu and that's a whole other can of worms.
Thanks for the quick replies
First post and a new thread. Boring...............
there are already a thread for bug in R0 Syrius and explaination for flashing a new device use it before posting !!!!!!!!!!
This isn't about a bug in Syrius R0 and as I said before I had read two guides on here (wiki and the installation instructions) and was checking a difference between the two.
Lock and whipe this thread. Another idiot who didn't care to read the "read me first" threads....
I did read them, was checking a difference as explained in previous post. thankyou joey jojo for your help

Hi Guys
I've been reading this forum for two days now, and still haven't found the answer to my solution.
I used Olipros unlocker on Saturday, but after step 1 the screen went black and it wont reboot.
I can get into bootloader (by pressing the camera button and the reset pin at the same time), but I can't install the OS from Activesync as the PC can't see the ameo.
I can also get to factory reset (by pressing the volume slider down and powering up), but I haven't done anything in there.
The bootloader shows Olipro SPL 1.2
At the same time as getting this sorted I thought I'd upgrade to WM6 from the posts that are here, but I can't find at all, how to get the ROM onto the ameo without Activesync seeing it.
Can someone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks for any help in advance.
Joe
i have had the same problem.
i solve doing this :
1rst enter in bootloader mode ( Reset + camera button )
plug your USB cable
and flash WM5 or WM6 rom with flash utility
utilies doesn't trcognize your current rom etc but donc care about
then after flash 100% my athena (HTC advantage boot up normaly again)
i hope my experience help you
Hi, thanks for your advice:
Here's what I'm doing:
Bootloader (Camera and reset hole)
Bootloader shows ATHE100
SPL-v1.20. Olipro
USB
I'm then running mtty tool and can get a connection with:
Cmd>
I type Task 32 and it states Level=0
do I then use the lnbs command?
I'm sorry, I dont see what to do now
You state to upgrade ROM with flash utility, but whats the flash utility?
Is it Mtty?
Or another tool that I haven't got yet?
I have downloaded the ROM update tools, and within the rar files there are apps like, enterbootloader, ruugetinfo, rapitool, etc, but they wont run, they say that they aren't a valid win32 application
Sorry, I know my phones not knackered, just don't know how to get out of it.
Joe
run ROMUpdateutility.exe provided with WM5 rom update or WM6 rom update (if you don't have look at XDA ftps ...)
Thank you so much for your help, got WM6 running on it now, everything's v good.
Cheers
Joe
i'm happy you ameo up and alive

Just out of curiosity, did you take your storage card out before you began the unlock?
not for me : no SD card , only microdrive
Nope, didn't realise I had to....
Is that the common factor in it failing?

I don't think so, I don't have a memory card on my Ameo and had the same problem.. And when I told the Olipro **** that I got the black screen AND his SPL was flashed successfully, he kinda went frenzy about "IT IS NOT MY FAULT, IT IS YOURS! YOU ARE STUPID, I AM GOD!".. Nice support, huh?
Donate the mofo!
yes nice support indeed

I suggest people read the forum thread, I've been aware of the problem since day one after xmen's pda reset itself while running an unpatched SPL.
clearly you're a moron, or your english is ****, possibly both.

Just don't flame "stupid" people. And if someone asks for help: ignore, say that you won't help them or help them properly (without flaming).
Thnx.
And another thing.
You look *smart* and *cool* when you flame other people when they get problems and ask for help!!! (not)
OK... there's nothing I can do about it, if it black screens, please go and flash a ROM with an OS on it.
until I get hold of a new SPL, I do apologise for this unknown bug, but again, as I said, it's an intrinsic problem of 1.10.
Flash a ROM if it happens to you and it'll be fine. your device will NOT be bricked.

Better,,, and sorta friendly.
What do you think about this little gem:
Pissed off == no reply @ the forums.
Cooled down == yeah, ok I can reply.
But then again, what do I know, eh?
Some people PAID you to hack/crack/mangle/otherwise play around with a Athena.
No, I didn't use any of your programs... I have had an unlocked Athena since day one. No, I will wait for the official Dopod release on the 20th (hopefully). If I see any bugs, HELL YES I will query the collective hive mind here.
But please, lay off the "I'm better than you" attitude. It doesn't do any good at all.

I was doing some reading, and I read that there are basically two versions of flash center....One that is for hard spl, and one for non.
I read this quote , "I forgot and included my personal flashcenter, which is used for devices that have been HARD-SPL. If your device is not HARD-SPl, please down load the other flashcenter."
My phone isn't Hard spl, so can someone point me in the direction of the other flash center? I don't know how to tell which one is for non-hard spl. Thanks guys.
I would like to see this also, as you can search all of xda forums and not find any app named flash center or flashcenter. people should not refer to it, if it does not exist. if it does please post link.
The only difference with the HardSPL one and the non-HardSPL one is that the non-HardSPL has more files in it... look at the Read First post in one of the Herald threads and it will have a link on a flashing walkthrough that I created. It has links to things and a complete walkthrough to flashing.

So, here comes a noob question, but, if you use the flash center for hard spl on a non hard spl'd phone, you will get an error right? I will do more searching for it, but I don't understand. I used the same flash center to go from stock rom to open touch 3.0 with NO problems, but now that I try to go to open touch 4.0, every time i run the ruu, it gets to about 2-4 percent, and gives a error message saying something about a corrupt file. I of course tried redownloading different versions of 4.0 to make sure it wasn't a bad file and it wasn't.
Make sure you're not trying to install OpenTouch micro. That one will not flash through ANY Flash Center. Like my own Just2Clean, it requires flashing through a SD card and the phone has to be HardSPL. The reason being that it bypasses the phone's ROM size requirements.

I appreciate it guys, but I ended up FINALLY hard spl'ing, so I can use the flash center I have.
Hi,
I tired flashing udk syrius r0.
during the flash i got an error messege about the communication.
now my device is stuck in bootloader mode :
"pola100
spl-1.25.0000
cpld-2"
i am using vista ultimate.
i tired re-flashing 3 other roms but i can't because the device is not being recognized.
i tried using mtty but i keep getting "usb port can not open" no matter what i do. i tired uninstalling the mobile center and nothing helps.
i tried flashing through the microsd and its not working as well (its in "loading" for over 30 minutes.)
1. is my device bricked?
2. what do i need to do to get my device back ?
thanks in advance
Jam
That's happens because you don't read before, before flashing a non-Official ROM you need to install the Hard-SPL.

It is not bricked. You can repair it by yourself. Just use SEARCH function! Please do not ask questions that have been answered hundreds of times. It is really not polite to do that to people using these forums.
There are some sticked thread, take a look.

Hi,
(Again sorry for my stupidity) When using SSPL its say that SPL and Radio are untouched, my question is if a cooked rom you want to use is using a base of say 1.61 do you need to use the gold card method if your stock rom is lower than that (my stock is 1.43) and flash to 1.61 before you try the SSPL. This is my first WM phone, (loving it so far) my last phone was a samsung D500 so I'm trying to make up a lot of ground on you people in the know!
Cheers for helping!
U dun have to. Just connect ur LEO in windows mobile to activesync in ur com. Afterwards, just run SSPL and flash!
WTF? Another stupid pointless thread from someone who cannot be bothered to use the search button or google.
Even the title of this thread deserves a BAN!! how exactly is it descriptive of the thread?
Why wouldnt you ask this is a thread related to SSPL or Hacking HardSPL?
Why would you think starting a new thread would be a good idea?

Jesus, calm down mate, not very polite are you.
Please ask this in the SSPL thread... I'll close this thread for now, drop me a PM if you disagree...
You can flash SSPL on any ROM (whatever is on your device) so long as you can get an ActiveSync or WMDC connection.
Hello everyone this may be a silly question but I see a lot of talk about roms within these forums can someone please tell me what are roms and how to install them.
Are they like cab files? or is it more like a OS system for mobile devices...
Will Roms override the os system that's on my device now? thanks for any info on this
the rom is the whole OS, including any pre installed programs. It is a big file, around 200meg that gets flashed to the rom memory chip on your phone. When you boot for the first time, it configures (installs, sets itself up) itself onto your device.
If you install a new rom, it completely removes the old rom, so if you hard reset, you get a fresh copy of teh new rom, you can only go back to teh original rom by flashing the original one again.
Think of it a bit like the windows cd that you use to install your PC.
PLease dont reply with 'how do i do it?', , go and read, then tomorrow, read it all again, then read some more, and then read it all again. By saturday/sunday you should be ready to do a trial flash.

HA! You have alot to learn.
? Thanks for reviving a long dead thread with nothing usefull! HA! ...seriously, please refrain from doing that...it clogs up the forums.
I flashed my first rom about 4 months ago using the how to section for noobs. I read it several times, did each step one at a time, testing at each stage to make sure I'd done it right and it works like a charm. Best place to start.
