I was doing some reading, and I read that there are basically two versions of flash center....One that is for hard spl, and one for non.
I read this quote , "I forgot and included my personal flashcenter, which is used for devices that have been HARD-SPL. If your device is not HARD-SPl, please down load the other flashcenter."
My phone isn't Hard spl, so can someone point me in the direction of the other flash center? I don't know how to tell which one is for non-hard spl. Thanks guys.
I would like to see this also, as you can search all of xda forums and not find any app named flash center or flashcenter. people should not refer to it, if it does not exist. if it does please post link.
The only difference with the HardSPL one and the non-HardSPL one is that the non-HardSPL has more files in it... look at the Read First post in one of the Herald threads and it will have a link on a flashing walkthrough that I created. It has links to things and a complete walkthrough to flashing.

So, here comes a noob question, but, if you use the flash center for hard spl on a non hard spl'd phone, you will get an error right? I will do more searching for it, but I don't understand. I used the same flash center to go from stock rom to open touch 3.0 with NO problems, but now that I try to go to open touch 4.0, every time i run the ruu, it gets to about 2-4 percent, and gives a error message saying something about a corrupt file. I of course tried redownloading different versions of 4.0 to make sure it wasn't a bad file and it wasn't.
Make sure you're not trying to install OpenTouch micro. That one will not flash through ANY Flash Center. Like my own Just2Clean, it requires flashing through a SD card and the phone has to be HardSPL. The reason being that it bypasses the phone's ROM size requirements.

1Q. What is a Herald?
1A. A herald, is a device created by HTC. It is also sold under the HTC P4350, XDA Terra and the Tmobile Wing.
2Q. So the Wing is a Herald?
2A. Yes. But it has a different keyboard layout. Everything else is the same and ROMs from each other will work aside from the keyboard layout being
wrong.
3Q. What's a ROM?
3A. A ROM is the firmware (think of it like the windows installation) that your phone runs. There's the stock ones known as the "Official RUU's" and
the custom ones, known simply as "ROMs."
4Q. How do I flash a ROM?
4A. Read the sticky that tells you how here.
5Q. So the stickies are important?
5A. Yes. Read them first and you'll learn enough to ask intelligent questions and actually get answers that don't say, "READ!!! %#@$"
6Q. How do I flash USPL?
6A. USPL is NOT a ROM. It is a TOOL to flash other ROMs.
7Q. What's an NBH file?
7A. Read 4A.
8Q. Can I flash a Herald ROM into anything that's not one of the devices mentioned so far?
8A. No. You don't use diesel on a gas car.
9Q. Is HARDSpl permanent?
9A. Yes and no... it cannot be overridden unless you run USPL along with your RUU... If you don't understand this, please research and read some more.
10Q. I just installed HardSPL and now my device is stuck in the bootloader and gives me an SPL of 1.XXX!!!
10A. The intructions for that post specifically mentioned that you should NOT use this if you had an SPL lower than 4.xxx to begin with. I'm sorry but
you'll have to bring your phone to a repair center.
11Q. I just installed HardSPL... now I can't install my RUU.
11A. Did you read 9A? If you want to reinstall the stock software for some unknown reason but don't want to loose the HardSPL, you'll have to recompile
the RUU NBH so that it lacks its SPL.
12Q. Why are there so many stickies?
12A. Because we have a nice but sticky happy mod. If you don't like it, you haven't read enough of them. READ THEM AL.Alol
13Q. Can I ask you questions before reading the stickies?
13A. No. If you have, it's because you didn't read this... which consequently means that I've sent you here to read.
14Q. Why are people mean to me?
14A. You didn't read, bricked your device and then complained about it... read.
15Q. Why does everyone want a black rom? Why not a Puerto Rican rom? Or a white Rom?
15A. That's a weird question... go away.
16Q. How long should I wait for an answer for before I post another post about it?
16A. Indefinitively. If no one answers in ONE WEEK. Then bump your own thread. Do NOT create another thread. It might be cause for someone to beat you up... cause we've got our thugs that do that kind of stuff for us... we're watching...
17Q. Why did you miss # 10?
17A. Made you look.
18Q. What's the best ROM?
18A. It depends on your needs.
19Q. Ok, then what's the best ROM for me?
19A. Pop quiz: What's the best possible car for me... and no, you can't ask me questions. Off the top of your head, without knowing anything about my needs and wants. What is the best car for me. And mind you, if you get me something I don't like later on, I will come back complaining...
20Q. I have a Terra. Where is the RUU?
20A. Right there with answer #20154221445. Yea... it doesn't exist.
21Q. How do I install XXX?
21A. Did you read the walkthrough/readme file? If there wasn't a walkthrough included with it, is it a cab? If it's a cab, then run the cab... from the phone. If it's just random files, usually copy them over the windows folder. USUALLY... not always...
22Q. But it gives me an authentication error when I try to install this.
22A. Make sure that if you're installing... say.... the CommManager. That the CommManager isn't open in the background.
23Q. Is it ok to ask a question completely unreleated to the subject on a thread?
23A. No.
24Q. Is it ok to ask about a bug fix for ANOTHER ROM on one ROM's thread? Their ROM doesn't have this bug.
24A. Is it ok to go to Ford and ask them about why their Chevy has a leak in the radiator by design?
25Q. Why won't the cook give me a cab file that he used on his ROM?
25A. He didn't use a cab file. He used an OEM package.
26Q. Why won't he share his OEM Package?
26A. If it's a program he made, it's his intellectual property. If it's a program he didn't make, then he just doesn't feel like sharing for one reason or another. I don't read minds, so I wouldn't know.
27Q. If you can't read minds... how do you know all this stuff?
27A. I read... and cook... and read... and umm... yea... OK I CAN READ MINDS! STOP IT WITH THAT WEIRD LOOK!
More to come... stay tuned.

And next time (as an answer to FAQ12) - write a PM to me and give your knownledge in making it better!!
Best regards.
I moved the thread because it is not WM6 related.
I don´t want verbal fights here. I´m open for PM and you have my msn Ivan - so why don´t you contact me before psoting such a "crap" in some aprts of it.
Thanks.

Go to www.thewingster.com and click on the ROMs link on the side. Then make sure you use the right side of that page (for the T-Mobile Wing), and select your ROM. Once you find one you like, there will most likely be a "How to Flash" link on the ROM's page. There ya go!
There's some more ROM's on XDA that I haven't added to The Wingster, but most of them are on there. Enjoy!

how hard is it to install a radio rom
i have tmobile touch pro 2 ...usa
has anyone got a write up
on the install
im not that much of a techie
i have read alot of threads to get up to speed
but my technical skill are not that good
please help
They are very easy, follow the same steps as flashing a rom, thats it!! Must be Hard-spl then just run the curtomruu.exe
Yeah, as husker91 says, just pretend you're flashing a ROM. It's very easy. Just follow all the steps, don't skip any steps, and make sure you follow all the directions!
Here's a pictorial, if you need it. This pictorial is a ROM-flashing guide, and it's pretty much how you flash a radio-rom.
*However, I do believe this should have been posted in the Radio thread OR at least the ROM development sub-forum.
Very easy as stated above

well as far as roms goes.my way is just grab one and flash everybody has likes and dislike .you wont know till ya start flashing different ones.it gets addictive but i love it .i would suggest this rom for your first one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572938 it's stable and fast. i am on it right know ,plus i have a tmobile tp2.usa .so just follow the instructions and flash it .once you get the hang of it you will be flashing alot.just have to find one that you like ,that meets what you want to do with it! it's very easy to do ! well good luck man!the customruu.exe is the progam that will install it into your phone from your computer . it's already in the zip file you download. when you unzip the file you download you will see it !this rom if i remember right ,after you unzipp it you will see a file named flash open it you will see the customruu .well just follow instructions from above you will get it .i know it's scary at first but just be confident. also when you go to flash it from computer make sure all programs are closed and don't open any while you are flashing it .that way nothing mess with it while it's installing .
when i install it will it be put in my programs menu

if you are talking about the customruu.exe no it won't .it's built in to the rom's package itself.you won't see it on your phone.just see it on computer after you unzip .

Customruu.exe is the file you launch while your phone is synchronized to the PC. By using customruu.exe, your PC is transferring the new radio-rom data onto your phone (it's upgrading the radio-rom as this happens).

No, the radio-rom is a software upgrade. Hence, it won't be a program. It'll just be there in your phone (just like how you hardsSPLd your phone, that doesn't show up as a program).

My tip from my own experience: Try as many of them (radio-roms and ROMs) as you can!
Purpose: if you try as many as you can, you will eventually find one that will suit your needs. If you stick with one radio-rom or one ROM, you might not know what you're missing out on with others!
*Radio-roms depend on ROM and location. Not every radio-rom will be the same. I've tried 6 radio-roms, and I ended up with .17 being the best for me. So, try them and see which one is best for you.*

Nope. Radio-roms only determine your phone capabilities (signal strength, data connections, and battery life).
Your Today screen only changes with custom ROMs. Custom ROMs change your Today screen to whatever it comes with.

HardSPL voids your warranty. Reflashing everything stock and the stockSPL will validate your warranty again.
Radios
Most radio come with custom ruu and are as easy as double click to install.
.88 seems to work best for me.
Good luck.
Hello everyone this may be a silly question but I see a lot of talk about roms within these forums can someone please tell me what are roms and how to install them.
Are they like cab files? or is it more like a OS system for mobile devices...
Will Roms override the os system that's on my device now? thanks for any info on this
the rom is the whole OS, including any pre installed programs. It is a big file, around 200meg that gets flashed to the rom memory chip on your phone. When you boot for the first time, it configures (installs, sets itself up) itself onto your device.
If you install a new rom, it completely removes the old rom, so if you hard reset, you get a fresh copy of teh new rom, you can only go back to teh original rom by flashing the original one again.
Think of it a bit like the windows cd that you use to install your PC.
PLease dont reply with 'how do i do it?', , go and read, then tomorrow, read it all again, then read some more, and then read it all again. By saturday/sunday you should be ready to do a trial flash.

Dude I have the same question
So I purchased an HD2 from someone and it already has android ported to it. I dont like the ROM that is currently on it and i'm wantign to change it to the Desire HD ROM but I'm sorta stuck.
What steps do I have to do in order to do this? Do I have to remove the current ROM and install the new one? Can I just install the new one on the SD card and *BAM* thats it? do i have to clean the traces of the old ROM?
I have a million questions basically. Can SOMEBODY give me step by step instructions of how to do this or give me a link on how to do this?
To make a build work from the SD card, you need to have Windows Mobile OS.
If you want Android working from Nand, just boot into MAGLDR, hardreset your NAND memory, this will wipe the NAND;
Then enter USB Flasher mode in MAGLDR and either you can flash a new ROM or flash CWM Recovery - a tool from which you can install zipped ROM files from your SD.
Basically, chose the ROM you like to install on your device, and follow the steps provided there, those steps will be sufficient to wipe the previous ROM and install the new one.

Dude, you're a duchebag. Why would I come to a forum (not just a forum, but a Q&A forum) if I havent already looked. Thats why I hate XDA, jacka**es like you and every other "senior member" on this dang website. I come here for help and get insulted by you.
Now who looks like the dumba**? The person that actually needs help or the person that takes to time to not only point out that your a "noob" but also gives you links the the forum that I was already on.
I wish that there was another webiste other than XDA that was interested in HELPING PEOPLE. Rather than just putting them down. The "senior members" need to take a look at themselves and come off their high and mighty cloud and actuall take the time to help the ones that need it.
Wow, no need to be so harsh. And if you keep that up you'll just help turn this into a flame thread, hence the lock down of this thread by a mod. Look at the second link he gave you, it contains links to all the useful information about a HD2, and the answers to your question.
Anyways, look at this thread,

That thread will give you all the answers, read, read, read, I'm dead serious, it has all the answers.
Read the whole thing.

Start by going to the windows mobile 6.5 dev thread and in the sticky you will find the task29 without mtty thread, get it. Check what radio you're running and if you don't have the 2.15.50, get it from the same sticky. Now come to android nand dev and find the latest MGLDR and get that too, find a rom you would like to use, find the partition size for such rom and get it.
Now start by task29.
Flash 2.15.50 radio if you don't have it.(if you do skip it)
Flash MGLDR- Either thru DAF or RUU.
Flash Clockworkmod recovery with needed partition.
Copy all your SD card content to pc and within clockworkmod advanced settings, format SD card to 1024mb with 0 swap.
Drop into the SD card the rom zip only and flash it, once done you can transfer the rest of your stuff back to the SD card from pc.
I hope this can help you a bit with your learning of android flashing in the hd2
