So I purchased an HD2 from someone and it already has android ported to it. I dont like the ROM that is currently on it and i'm wantign to change it to the Desire HD ROM but I'm sorta stuck.
What steps do I have to do in order to do this? Do I have to remove the current ROM and install the new one? Can I just install the new one on the SD card and *BAM* thats it? do i have to clean the traces of the old ROM?
I have a million questions basically. Can SOMEBODY give me step by step instructions of how to do this or give me a link on how to do this?
To make a build work from the SD card, you need to have Windows Mobile OS.
If you want Android working from Nand, just boot into MAGLDR, hardreset your NAND memory, this will wipe the NAND;
Then enter USB Flasher mode in MAGLDR and either you can flash a new ROM or flash CWM Recovery - a tool from which you can install zipped ROM files from your SD.
Basically, chose the ROM you like to install on your device, and follow the steps provided there, those steps will be sufficient to wipe the previous ROM and install the new one.

Dude, you're a duchebag. Why would I come to a forum (not just a forum, but a Q&A forum) if I havent already looked. Thats why I hate XDA, jacka**es like you and every other "senior member" on this dang website. I come here for help and get insulted by you.
Now who looks like the dumba**? The person that actually needs help or the person that takes to time to not only point out that your a "noob" but also gives you links the the forum that I was already on.
I wish that there was another webiste other than XDA that was interested in HELPING PEOPLE. Rather than just putting them down. The "senior members" need to take a look at themselves and come off their high and mighty cloud and actuall take the time to help the ones that need it.
Wow, no need to be so harsh. And if you keep that up you'll just help turn this into a flame thread, hence the lock down of this thread by a mod. Look at the second link he gave you, it contains links to all the useful information about a HD2, and the answers to your question.
Anyways, look at this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021837
That thread will give you all the answers, read, read, read, I'm dead serious, it has all the answers.
Read the whole thing.
Best of luck.

Start by going to the windows mobile 6.5 dev thread and in the sticky you will find the task29 without mtty thread, get it. Check what radio you're running and if you don't have the 2.15.50, get it from the same sticky. Now come to android nand dev and find the latest MGLDR and get that too, find a rom you would like to use, find the partition size for such rom and get it.
Now start by task29.
Flash 2.15.50 radio if you don't have it.(if you do skip it)
Flash MGLDR- Either thru DAF or RUU.
Flash Clockworkmod recovery with needed partition.
Copy all your SD card content to pc and within clockworkmod advanced settings, format SD card to 1024mb with 0 swap.
Drop into the SD card the rom zip only and flash it, once done you can transfer the rest of your stuff back to the SD card from pc.
I hope this can help you a bit with your learning of android flashing in the hd2

Like the title says.... its a question about ROMs...
I have the EviL.HeRo ROM 2.7(x). Well, my question is can I have more then one ROM on my SDCard? or do I have to remove one ROM to put in another?
EDIT: Which is the newest version of EviL.HeRo? Is it 2.9.5x?
... another question
How do I install ROM's? The only reason I knew how to install the EviL.HeRo ROM was because a video guide helped me. I just don't get the whole coding process. Can someone explain?
Which HERO ROM is the best? is it EviL.HeRo?
EDIT: When I installed my first ROM, all my applications got deleted? Is this normal? and does this happen every time you install a new one?
BTW, thanks for helping me out. I know I'm a "n00b!".

Like the title says, this belongs in Q&A
If you want to have more than 1 ROM update.zip on your phone you will need to flash either Amon_RAs RAv1.2.1 recovery or cyanogens 1.4 that will let you flash a ROM without renaming it to update.zip
Newest version of EViL Hero? Check the thread.
There are SO MANY instructions about how to install a ROM. There is even an entire wiki that explains all of this stuff. You really need to do a search and look around a bit.
Read this: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Sapphire_Hacking
If you get lost, ask a question in the Q&A forum...not the dev forum. The dev forum is for DEVELOPMENT. There is a sticky at the top of the forum that explains this.
Applications will be deleted iff you wipe before flashing. This is required most of the time. Check out MyBackup Pro.
It is fine that you are new to this, but ask in the right place and do your due diligence. Google and forum search was invented for a reason.
Ok, sorry about that, and thank you.
I know this may sound stupid but I just cant get the gingbread 2.3 to work. I have the MDJ_GingerBread_HD2_v.1.0_RC5_RAM_STOCK . I don't have data.exe but have data.img will that work? I am new to this and have been trying to get this to work for the past 4 days. I have zImage and initrd.gz do i need those on my sd card? any help would be so greatful....

The "best" way to learn bud is to do some real reading. I know it can be a bit daunting at first but honestly its the best way. Been walked through something is too easy and you wont pick up valuable information as much as you would if you worked it our yourself.
There is some really good guides to follow, have a look through them and have a go.

Struggling while installing Android 2.3 Gingerbread on HTC HD2 (NAND)
Thanks guys for your prompt replies. This my situation: I installed Android 2.2 on my HTC HD2 with
RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2
Radio_15.42.50.11U
2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
HSPL 2.08
MAGLDR V1.13
Android 2.2
Everything works great. Recently, I wanted to upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread so to I upgraded successfully the MAGLDR1.11 to MAGLDR1.13.
Now, I spent a longtime reading your replies to the other users and it seems my case is a bit special, therefore I have 2 questions:
1- The MAGLDR113_DAF file I downloaded contains the ROMUpdateUtility (that you advise users to use) and also has a DAF file. I can see clearly at system start up that my MAGLDR is 1.13. So, does this mean am good? or do I still need to open the DAF through the tri colour screen bootloader, as some have suggested? Please help clarify my confusion.
2- I downloaded Android 2.3 Gingerbread on HTC HD2 (NAND) and extracted it to my 8GB SD card root, when I open the Android folder on my HD2 and tap on CLRCAD.exe, I get "file type exe not found" message, I tried with haret.exe as well but I always get the same message. Could anyone advise what I am doing wrong?
By the way, I used first a 2GB SD card, after being formatted, in vain then formatted a 8GB SD card, copy, paste Android folder on root, in vain. always same message.
Thank you very much guys and once again, I really appreciate your time and patience with us.
well if you're going for NAND you should not been able to toutch the CLRCAD.exe/Haret.exe wich probably means that you've downloaded a SD build.
you should go to the NAND section of this forum and find a rom there.
the instructions for installing a NAND rom are in de first few post by the dev himself.
goodluck

Hi XthelordinatorX, I have to admit that Mobile technology is not my strong point. I am not sure what rom to install. could you advise what's the best one you recommand for HTC HD2 Leo.
I am open to your suggestions guys! your help is highly appreciated
I have right now Android 2.2 Nand on my HTC HD2 with

So I've been searching all day trying to figure this out. I'm pretty sure I got my HD2 rooted (everything did as it was supposed to, but don't remember it rebooting, although it probably did). The problem I'm having is I want to load an Android ROM, but it's so confusing? I managed to get my G2 rooted and flashed multiple ROMs on it, but this is a lot different, and every time I google how to install them, it'll give me the Android ROMs, but no instructions? I found one I'd like to use (really I don't care which one it is as long as I have Android Market), but I'm seriously lost as how to flash it. I've been searching all day, and I know you guys hate posts like this, but I'm in serious need guys. Any help will be appreciated.
Also, the G2 ROM was flashed through ClockworkMod in recovery. I can get instructions on how to flash other ROMs, but it says nothing about Android ROMs.. I just want to be able to enjoy my phone!

the link given to you is a sticky in the hd nand section. pretty obvious to see if you open that forum, imo.
in all seriousness - what kept you from finding it? was it hard to find? did you not see the forum? were you nervous to try and use it? why did you feel the need to ask a how to question before trying something out?
i ask as your question is asked countless times and i am curious what xda can do better to get people information that is readily available. i am not trying to be snarky, rather learn from you as what we can do better.
thanks.

Agreed.
I too am curious as to why people either dont look first or just cant be bothered because that is what it seems like to me.
I just cant understand why people make topics like this when there is plenty of guides and sticky on exactly how to do it, It just seems a never ending circle of n00bs asking "how do I install android" and then people linking to the sticky/guide topics over and over.
Its even more surprising because these new users are given a video to watch as soon as the join up very clearly telling them to use search and read sticky/guide topics first.

You've been a member of XDA since 2009 and you ask this in a development forum?
Please spend a few minutes looking for yourself, all the information is available in stickies right at the top, and questions do not belong in this subforum.
To answer some of your queries:
1) You need to have put the right HSPL on your phone, with the correct Radio, and then install a bootloader like MagLdr or cLK
2) All a matter of opinion, you'll have to choose one yourself
3) Yes, you can go back to WinMo6.5 whenever.
If you get through the whole installation process.. i recommend NexusHD2 rom. Stable and snappy AOSP rom.
sent from HD2!

Throw your phone in the bin, quit XDA.
There are many guides around, have you read any of the stickes or even the forum rules before posting this such usefull thread in "Development" forums of all the places ?
Personally i feel, people like you dont deserve smart phones.
okay mate look first you asked in the wrong forum but anyway
1- install the MAGLDR 113
2- install the Recovery 400 MB
3- make 2 partitions on your sd card one fat32 and the second ext4( 1Gb )
4- download any rom you want i recommend (nexusHD2) you can find it in the forum
5- put the rom zip file on your sd
6- turn on your phone - enter magldr - enter recovery - choose wipe data and confirm it then choose install zip from sd card and continue from there by locating the zip file on your sd and conform the installation .
7- when everything done just reboot your phone
hope i helped
this is link for the rom and the guide too

Well then there really is no need for a video guide because it couldn't be simpler. You should also make yourself clearer in the OP, saves everyone time.
1. Update to the latest stock ROM 3.14 with radio 2.15.50
2. Download a ROM from the SD section
3. Place the folder labelled Android (it may have a different name, but it is essentially the folder in which the files are directly stored) on the root of your SD card
4. In WinMo go to the file explorer, open the file explorer and run CLRCAD then HARET.
5. After first boot, reboot a few times then enjoy Android
thank you Nigeldg

Here's is a few video's about the question you have along with a useful video about XDA.
1. Useful video on being new to XDA
2. Several video's about installing Android onto the HD2 can be found here and here (if you want a sense ROM download a sense
ROM instead of the one in the video) the steps however will be the same for either
3. re-read each step several times over and try to get an understanding of whats going on
BEFORE you begin to flash the ROM over
4. if you are stuck and can't figure it out use the search button to try and find answers, still stuck
open a thread up and ask for help
5. I'd also like to add that if your really desperate there are tutorials you can buy on ebay ($2-$10 normally) and a person on
facebook found here that will do it for you for an enormous charge. I think its under LARIS in the middle of the page
Hopefully this will get you going and you can use the video's along with the guides other member's have provided already. I
forgot to add that there is a really great site that has a great video on installing Android along with some other useful video's
like reverting back to stock and how to load a custom ROM with easy step by step instructions. Here's the link to that.
