here the original link guys look at this BEAUTY OMG
I can't wait to get one!
i hate t-mobile..
but damn that looks pretty nice!
Looks like an antiquated pos... I find it hard to believe that that is anything new. Maybe the OS but even that doesn't seen to do much. I'll wait.
That is one UGLY phone. I'd never own a phone that ugly.
The phone isn't great, but the UI looks niiiice
I really hope that device is not the final/release version... I find it UGLY too... (the phone, not the OS). Maybe a black one will look better.
I know I will be getting one.....Tmobile will be pre releasing it for $150 in a couple of weeks. The Xperia X1 has been pushed back. The touch pro looks like its gonna take a while to make it to tmobile. And, I ain't jumpin over to that over priced deathstar for an iphone.
Can someone inform me what the performance benchmarks for android are? i just dont want to see the "vista effect" happen to android platform phones... ie: 3.2ghz with a gig of ram and a gforce 6200 and vista is sluggish... but OH THE UI... ya know?
Any designer can make a cool UI.
What features specifically are you guys drooling over?
good find though. its always fun to see new phones.
5 row keyboard good. Putting a barrier over the right hand side very very bad.
Surur
i waiting for android too (has a supported graphic chip ) but what the hell is this hardware ?
Looks like a 5 year old HTC ? REALLY FAT AND UGLY HTC !
what happend with this one ? Are you crazy HTC ?
it looks like big white brick
It looks damn ugly. I'm just waiting for the first rom to leak out.

The black render is far nicer.. but they are put to shame by the Diamond phones, and tbh.. I like the look of my old Hermes (T mobile colours) more.
I hope the OS is good, the idea of dual booting WM6/7 and Android sounds goood to me.

In black is at least bearable to my eye... Yet, the asymmetric access of the hands when the qwerty is open troubles me a lot. As a previous poster has mentioned, it will probably act more as a barrier for the right hand
hope to be a fake...
So much anticipation all this time for the "Googlephone"/"Dream" and this is the result?
Besides that, I'm not sure any more that Android will be the "open" platform it was advertised to be (my favorite missing API : Bluetooth!). I did put my hopes on google to deliver a popular, true linux (see: open) phone to hack/tweak/extend it in imaginative ways. Ofcourse the future will tell (but I also keep my eyes on http://openmoko.com for a qwerty version of their device).
just my thoughts...
Black does look better, but I'm also hoping the keyboard will tilt.....Or maybe something else will come up before work replaces my Kaiser anyway.

this one looks nicer and class
very ugly phone if you ask me - not interested if this is what the hype is really all about...
Not particularly my cup of tea. But it definitely differentiates itself from all the other candybar/slider/flip phones out there, and maybe that's just what Google wants with its very first device.

This particularly caught my eye:
The intelligent face recognition features recognise up to five faces in any picture, automatically connecting them with your social phone book and all other related communications with that person.
That sounds impressive.
The phone looks fairly impressive, however I don't believe it can stand up again other available Android phones current and possible future ones. One big issue I have with some new smartphones is that they are so orientated around this whole facebook etc social networking lark which is so unimportant to me.
who cares. its android!
once u gain root access u can do pretty much whatever you want with it.
i personaly realy like it. its also big enuff to bage a onscreenkeyboard vaiable.
I like it too.
As for keyboard .. I like Xperia because it's really cool to send messages. But I hate it too. It's bulky, and the keyboard is a bit loose, it just don't feel like well built. With large display and capacitive touchscreen, I would try it.
I wonder if SE will support Android 2.0. It actually might be out before Rachael. And it has lots of new cool features.

True...Hardware wise seems good. 4 inch OLED screen would sell it to me tbh not the fact its android.
that thing is huge! i will wait for something smaller. i know 4-inch screen is great, the problem is it makes the whole thing big.

Android 2.0 is already out (only device to use it so far is the Motorola Droid) and the HTC Hero I hear is getting an upgrade.
is i have read on a website, its going to be android 1.6 which sucks big time.
but its not released yet so maybe its getting 2.0. even if not, if the kernel stays the same, installing 2.0 on it shouldnt be to hard.
as for the screensize ... true that, its realy big. but on the other hand i hate the display of the X1 for beeing that small. sometime ****ting a icon is realy hard. x10 should have this problem
PS: video here!!! its still lags but regarding to atester this is cause the kernel wasnt originaly compiled for the snapdragon and thats why its lagging.
It'd better come with 2.0, given that it'll only be out in Q1 2010, which would make it so far behind the Droid.

though it may not come out with 2.0, i'm sure an update will come soon afterwards. They're trying to fully optimize their UI on the 1.6 Donut, so that they can release it when they've specified.

Sure, whatever floats your boat.
X10 looks fairly impressive and beats all existing Androids
with UI, camera and of course - design,
since all other ones look like Frankenstein's sons.
But I don't really want Android = completely Google dependend,
and of course X10 is another device without any proper hardware keyb. and navigation..
Fact that WM is completely Microsoft dependent does not bother you ?
Android is in fact open and based on linux. It's quite possible that it would live on even if google dropped it.
X10 was supposed to have 32 GiB integrated storage, 4" OLED display and to be running Android Eclair. What we're getting is TFT screen, 1 GiB of storage, pathetic 256 MiB of RAM and Android Donut. As usual great job, SE.
I'd rather go for Motorola Milestone or will simply wait for the Q8250 HTC Android device.

its a iphone game. no chance.
'Teeter' is almost the exact same game, and it cam preinstalled on my HD2
or Resco Bubbles
On the HD2 there is a game nearly the same called "Teeter". It´s in the HTC Stock ROM included.
Do you meen this?
It seems to me, that the Iphone is stuck in wooden age, where as we have advanced to iron age with teeter
I may get slated for saying this, but I don't care cos it's true.
To me, that looks LOADS better than tweeter. I love the 3D effect when you tilt it. We don't have anywhere near enough of that on the HD2!

That is so true, although I have a HD2 and *upgraded* from an iphone I believe the HD2 is a great all round phone except for when it comes to quality of games and availability of games/apps.
Quite gutting isnt it when you have a superior device that no developers give a damn about

I think your a bit premature. You have to realise its a new phone with this technology and developers have to work out how to write things for it that will take advantage of the hardware first!
Most developers will be waiting to see that it is this hardware that sticks and not a different one in the future. Who knows, HTC might move on to a different chipset in the upcoming months. Only when a few more phones come out will developers start thinking about working with the hardware

I don't expect this sort of development will take off until WinMo7 and support for standard sensors in Visual Studio. That's what's currently holding back WinMo development, lack of built-in support for sensors and radios in developer tools.
Facebook is pretty huge, Even SE has fan pages on there.
What better way to get them to pay attention than setting up a "not a big fan" page?
So please, everyone please join this group. The more people we get, the more they will pay attention.

Joined, thanks!!!
I signed up to this forum only to express my disappointment towards SE and joined the group of unhappy X2 owners. Thanks everyone who has posted the topics about the problems with X2 so I know that I'm not the only one who felt cheated. We paid the premium price for the phone and I don't mind minor bugs but how do I suppose to rely on this device if it keeps shutting itself down for no reason whatsever after it enters the standby....
Yesterday I reached my phone to take a picture of my friends and found my phone dead... nothing more embarrassing than having to remove the battery, inserted again, asked friends to wait until this piece of crap boots up and ready to take pic.. in.. well.. .4 minutes later????
Wait. Don't forget me. I'm coming.
Spread the word, the faster we get more people the quicker we can get some sort of response from SE.
They have not bothered to even respond to the complaints in their fan page... tsk tsk!
me are disappointed with X2. Signed up in facebook group.

I would love X2 because it's really great,
but you just cannot use it properly because the device makes
it impossible bacuse of freezes.
Clear?
so, what's the difference to the x1 then?
you can't even say the x2 has better build quality yet - it's too early.
apart from that it looks like SE is playing the same game again: "who? what? oh, i see. we already have your money. sorry, you're on your own now. come back when we sell you our next flagship and have a nice day!"
If we had Custom X1 stability and ability in an X2 shell, it would be a perfect world

There is no difference. It is the same device. That's why I am not buying it.
There is still not a single device on the market that has the features of the X1 (keyboard, d-pad, optical mouse, winmo, softbuttons, style and looks and much more). The ones with powerful processors lack some of the features I mentioned and with the heavy customization most of us have done, my X1 can match or even perform better than brand new devices. Nuff said.
yeah, it's the same device. most important thing they've got in common is that they're from SE - which is dead for all time for me when it comes to smartphones. the x1-experience has been enough (drivers, software-support)
(apart from that my x1 is fine, i'm even SoD-free for 3 weeks now... )
you're right about the features though... it's strange that all the "big" phones, no matter what OS, nowadays lack a hw-keyboard. well, i'll find out when i get my desire - maybe soft-kb on a big screen really pleases all needs?

Good luck lapping at Steve's heels. You are correct in that the iphone OS is more immediately user friendly but the HD2 & winmo offer much more that iphone OS can. Good luck with that, oh and it still wont be true multi-tasking

This.
I made the exact OPPOSITE move.
I've owned the 3GS ever since it came out and for the past few months before I sold it it bored me to death. There's very little I can do with it, and once I realized I don't really play mobile games, the decision to sell it became very easy. I like my HD2 a lot more -- more customizable, and more powerful. Plus the small screen of the iPhone (resolution-wise) was grating.
great news for somebody who wants a second hand leo, not everybody affords a new one

Ah man... just joining the rest of the sheep. There are too many identical Iphone users about! BE INDIVIDUAL!
People who don't want to invest time in a more versatile phone should buy an iPhone, but they will get less for more. And don't expect the iPhone to be perfect, because it's not, it's that's what Apple's marketing machine will try to tell you, but don't count on it to work flawless.

Hardly an Apple fan boy having never owned a Mac or an iPhone before. Is there any need for a comment like that?
Saved alot of cash after being away for some time so thought i'd spend it on something i feel works better. Handle it? It's a phone for christs sake, wake up
So Iphone 4 has just been announced , it looks pretty neat.
Do you think it's a HD2 Killer?
Will you be getting it?
1. No
2. No
Maybe and no but then again a glass of water can kill any HD2 lol.
If anything I wasn't that impressed with the information released for the iPhone 4, I'm not saying it doesn't look like a good improvement on previous iPhones but I'm not going to quickly ditch my HD2 for it. I'd still prefer to have an EVO but I know that will never happen .
Saying that though, my HD2 is awesome it continually manages to amaze me everyday and thanks to crazy developers here on XDA there's always something new just round the corner for me to try.
In fact my HD2 is the best HD2, everyone elses is just a imitation of my brilliant one, you poor people lol .
I wasn't really impressed with the specs on the iphone 4... Apple really didn't do anything ground breaking with it. Screen size is still the same... But honestly I guess that's why I love my HD2... The screen and the camera... In all fairness thought the OG iphone set the precedent a while ago and other phone manufacturers use that as their benchmark.
Why in the world would I want a phone with a tiny 3.5" screen?
i wonder how much RAM are there in the iPhone 4. the design looks weird for an apple product and i don't like the name at all! the screen resolution is crazy for a 3.5" phone. have they made it at least 3.8 " then it would be great. just cannot go back to a 3.5" screen anymore. and I wonder how does the multitasking work.
Screen too small indeed. Stupid, such a resolution is too fine be put to use on 3.5".
Same but designed as the HD2, same screen size and thin border, yes. They still haven't understood...
One word: NO!
It depends on the user, if you like doing more tweaks and learning more fun on your phone then hd2 is your phone. You cannot do on iphone what you can do on hd2.
I wasnt overly impressed by anything but the fact that you could edit your vidoes via the phone. I suppose any phone could do that but apple always does such a great job of software intergration that its hard to over look.
The book reader app I thought was alittle silly. Specially when thats one of the main points of getting An Ipad. But i guess thats built into the os so not much we can do about that.
lastly I thought that having video chat was cool(even tho evo did it first in the us)but I couldnt get over the fact that it was just via wifi. I would have rather had the option to use it via 3g . Im sure that people will jailbreak it but with the new pricing plans for data who will want to .
Personally I think the data plan change over shadows this release. In places where wifi is readily accessible It guess it wont matter much.
you are talking about that toyphone thing I see people playing with. I guess I might buy it for my kids if I ever have any. For now there isn't anything better can the hd2 with an awesome winmo custom ROM.

1Ghz A4 CPU and 512Mbs RAM? I think not.
In the grand scheme of things HTC are looking at stuffing a 1.5Ghz dual core into some of it's up and coming phones, so I can't see the iPhone 4 competing with that.
And I've never seen anyone bang on about video calls so much in my life, it's a five year old technology!
Oh and the 'redesigned iPhone' heading from that BBC link says it all, same ****, different case.
Dont mean to sound rude but
You asking us if a brand new phone (doesnt matter who its made by) is going to kill of a phone thats half a year old?
Are you joking?
Apple fans will love it.... People who believe all the hype will think that it's the first phone with video conferencing... The rest of us will love to hate it...
More people will end up with an iPhone 4 than an HTC device but I like it that way personally.
