Dont know if its me, I find it looking like PocketCM. With a different theme but with a small additional feature, call history
I agree with you. It's way too similar... and they're developing a "sms chat"... I saw that before right here on the forums...
Would be a nasty abuse of tene's hard work. He did the work, he deserves the money!!
IMHO tene's version is still a lot better, but it does indeed look like theft.
I saw on their site they're develloping easy-type as well, which might be similar to PocketCM keyboard! If so... a bloody shame!

Well, maybe I'll play against myself, but as long as they don't use my binaries, that's fine. It seems to me that's another implementation of the same ideas, and I don't own the ideas.
Did anyone tried it? is it good? for 19.95$ I hope it is
haven't tried it, why pay when i can use your version free
I gave this one a shot
Although there is no novelty as far the idea is concerned, the implementation is quite good!
Heres the difference between tene's version and this one :
1:> One tab assigned to Call Logs
2:> Animations are slightly different (Flip up/down instead of Flip Left/Right in tene's version)
3:> Setting a contact as a favourite is extremely easy
(On the contact detail screen , there is a star..you just have to select that star to set the contact as favourite..IMHO this is easier/quicker than two taps approach in tene's version)
4:> Animation seems slightly faster and even browsing through the alphabet index is very quick
5:> No support for SMS chats
Most important difference IMHO is that contacts can be edited/deleted through this app. This is a very nice feature as it allows you to change user information be it contact number/address/name etc. using its own input method/panel (Although creating contacts is still via normal way)
All in all,a good effort..but I wouldnt like to pay for this one especially when a free alternative is available and that too a very good alternative .Nevertheless,I would expect tene to give a look in to the features for his next version (if theres gonna be one)
I'll continue
6:> About 1,4mb installation
7:> Pretty slow to boot
8:> Weirdest built in keyboard ever.
9:> Much more fluid in use than pocketcm. (wizard)
10:> Scrolling works much better (slows down and accelerates more like an iphone)
you can download a trial version...
personal opinion, it sucks compared to tene's CM...
the only advantage is that it has a call log which probably tene can easily add.
- pictures do not show on the initial phonebook list
- also phone numbers do not show
- pager numbers do not show on contact details (i'm a doctor and use very frequently)
- no sms (my favorite part in tene's CM)
- you can only sort by either first, company or last name (CM you have an option to sort by city, category, company, sms....)
- comes in only one boring theme - (there are some excellent themes out there for CM and i like to change every few days)
- doesn't have the search option.
- address doesn't show in contact details (you have to press a button which takes you to the built-in contact manager for the address and more details!)
the list goes on and on...
so, NO way would I pay 20$ for that software... even if it was for free and I had to pay for Tene's CM I would still prefer tene's CM, his software is far more superior.
lol @ the built-in keyboard
I'll add:
11:> PCM looks much nicer not to mention PCM can use themes. Funcontact can't.
12:> PCM has a lot more features (although that's also exactly the same thing I hate about PCM.. it's starting to become bloatware). Funcontact works.. it does what it needs to do in a convenient and fast way.
13:> No support for landscape (it doesn't flip even if you slide the keyboard). It stays in portrait no matter what. It's good in a way because it keeps the app stable, unlike PCM which starts to screw up whenever I slide my keyboard out to type SMS.
14:> It caches everything on memory on program start
15:> So far, it's very stable
16:> It uses the WM GUI for sending messages
Well, maybe I'll play against myself, but as long as they don't use my binaries, that's fine. It seems to me that's another implementation of the same ideas, and I don't own the ideas.

I got hold of the "free" version (ahem.. sorry guys, I'm not going to give links)
PCM still better, but I agree with you it becomes bloatware if Tene keep adding unnecessary features.

hi tene, a bit off topic, but where can i get the basic theme for pocketcm? the one posted in the screenshots at your site.
You should ask the original poster DaVince about that bloatware
I just emphasized that.
Got it tene?

It's obviously still in its infancy...
If you take a peek at the BMPs for the app. they show Call and End icons plus many others, waiting to be switched on!
It's been said already that there is development planned for SMS chat and a better keyboard (their current one is BIZZARE!).
I've put it on my phone to do a comparison and it does seem faster (once it's loaded). This might be inpart due to the lack of fades and zooms between some screens.
I like the contact detail screen and the simple option to SMS to any number. Very nice deign, but then it should be...they pay professional designers to do the work.
The switch to view the contact in the Windows app is almost INSTANT! so no worries for me about a lack of address.
Given some layout options and skins and maybe 6 months to develop, it could be excellent.
Does use a lot of RAM to run though and I miss the filter option at the moment. Like I say thgouh, time will tell which app comes out on top.
I'm very much looking forward to Tene's next release, due soon. If he's got any sense (and he has), some of the nice little touches may well find their way into PocketCM
Oh yes, if you want the Vito icons for your PocketCM theme, you know where to go ;-)
As some have noted, PocketCM is free. However, that should not stop you from supporting Quentin's (Tene's) hard work and donate *something* so that he CAN continue to support and refine it with your direct suggestions.
G.
Hey, I also tested this "funcontact".
Its not bad, and looks also nice, but the scrolling didnt work well on my prophet... PCM does...
I prefer PCM because it can handle my SMS and there are possibilities to customize.
The only thing better in funcontact is the callLog.
PS.: It looks really like PCM, but its not the orignial.
TENE U did a real goog job man, thanks

Why the hell has no one made a touch SMS program?
I HATE the one that comes with pocket PC with a passion.
I agree with you a million percent. I've used vito sms and pocketcm but they both annoy me...slow and inconvenient (in my opinion. I know there are a lot of happy pocketcm users )
Anyway, I'd be willing to pay for a skinnable sms app if it was exactly the same as the existing one (ie: has got the same menu..sms/mms, windows live, outlook etc, but just looks a LOT nicer)...so if there's anyone out there
Honestly, i'd pay too, and i haven't paid for any of my software for years.
as much as everyone will hate me for saying it. Id love to just see icontact with there version of threaded sms. not a huge fan pocketCM for some reason. but atleast they have threaded sms
Yup, people ar going to "hate" you for it. LOL
The big plus for iContact is its speed for the basic duties of looking people up and dialling them. It is a phone in the first instance.
I have both installed and use both depending on what i am looking for.

haha! yea. me too. I even created a CM theme that looks identical to icontact. it's a genius program.
I´ve found IContact V.0.5, and I'm using since that. The must is that with only two strokes I can match a contact and make a phone call, or iniciate one SMS, this is in my opinions the basic concept, and remain like this.
If somebody want to put in one application, contacts, sms, mme, phone call, outlook, opera, netfront, picsel, wifi, gprs, and ..... they are free, but don't complain about the monster.
PCM with all those screens and options to do this and that, might real good, no complains, but too much ways to reach a simple thing, find one contact
One more thing, what's the ideia about a finger friendly SMS app. ?
Menu ? Keyboard ?

Finger friendly, maybe not - it's finger friendly already I guess, but there's a loooong way to go appearance-wise. Something like iContact but for sms (a separate app) would be perfect. That way the styles match, and if it were to have the same qualities as iContact would be fast, simple, customisable and very convenient.
The windows one isn't very finger friendly.
Something like the iPhone's SMS program.
A fine example of playing with WAD.
Landscape or Portrait mode.
at last, it is not iphone ****...

Hi
Just wanted to put something else on the thread, bcuz we can do so much with the program but only a select few have the right answers.
I think you shoulden`t be messin with another phone`s UI, just use your own to make that result.
I dont like PPC`s that use too much sliding UI.
like it says Pocket PC, so lets just make it work precisely like a pc that`s more fun.
Ironic considering your sample is a Mac OS wannabe LOL.
To each his/her own. I personally don't think it's a good idea to dictate what people should or shouldnt do with their phones, time, or themes.

Exactly...
...so where are the tutorials/threads on WAD? I have searched before and there aren't many. I'm curious and want to try it out.
There's a whole forum at the WAD website http://lakeridgesoftware.com/forum. Probably your best bet for ideas, samples, and support.
WAD2 is going to be even better!
The new version of WAD is almost complete and for people who want to customize their own devices - not just install a cab and have it be done (like SPB Mobile Shell) - WAD2 is by far the best option. It has about anything you can think of (at least I can): Multiple pages, with multiple plug-ins, show or hide task bar or bottom bar, notifications, registry displays, WMP display, weather support, animation, gestures..... try it! It is still a little buggy and I highly recommend you find the graphics or plug ins you like and create your own skin. That is the one drawback to WAD / 2 is it is very device specific, so loading someone else's skin usually does not work (different apps in diff locations, etc).
Here is my screen today. I tend to change it almost every day!

Thank you!...
I've used a trial WAD. Missed gestures, transitions, several bugs (Mio A701) and sometimes bad reloads (specially after empty battery softreset). The more you add the more it slows everything. Some object like meters (signal, battery, sms counter) even with a low refresh time still take a lot of memory.
It's beautiful for icons. But IMHO i prefer a complete UI (like PointUI, which has a french-style, gestures, menus,...)

Wad is not slow
To take a hit at WAD`s speed, is a loose shot.
The speed depends on a whole lot of factors. Depending on youre device and its specs.
For my Touch its quick and I never have to wait for something its fast and runs good. I can do everything with it.
SOmeone called me Ironic for putting a mac screen on my ppc.
I was not ironic because I made it look like the pc`s interface not like another phone`s interface. What I think is that, wad is doing is giving people the possibility to make their own phone.
All these commercials on tv with phone this phone that and most of them dont work are not that great.
What programs like WAD offer is, a phone (with a brand that you buy) and once youre home you can forget all about the brand and make your own device.
I LOVE THE PROGRAM RESPECT TO THE MAKERS TILL WM7 IM STICKING TO IT

Hi all,
After I seen the Omnia interface, I decided to try making one that is similar or maybe better functionality. Currently, itz just a basic concept which I hope to develop more.
*Note* This is not a release version and hence it is not fully functional yet. I am just seeking ideas and opinions at this present moment.
Thanks!
wow!! can't wait for this!
Is their a link to see what the Omnia Interface is like since I have never heard of it and have no idea what it is for.
its the Samsung interface..great thinking..if u need any help i have some knowledge in C#

Fantastic idea, I was planning to start a thread like this.
In addition to the other feedback, don't forget some of the other functions of the HTC home, such as - weather and media player status.
Is your plan to imitate the TouchWiz II interface with the drag and drop icons, this would be an incredible addition to the current HTC offerings. Also, any plans for VGA for Universal and Athena owners?
Best of luck
Sound like a great idea!, keep working....thanks
A settings button would be very very useful.. I find it hard myself to get to settings without a sylus in a short amount of time.
A Quick SMS button would be a wonderful feature also.
icons
Hi there, would be great to see stuff like this. I aprreciate to test this one
In my opinion the icons of the samsung themes are too coloured. I would prefer to habve more "simpler" icons. - as these attached.

OMG the background music is nice!!!
anyone know what music is that
I am looking for "s2 style" apps for Contacts and Calendar for use on my Sprint Vogue. For example, I would like t scroll thru Contacts like s2 does with music CD covers. Also, by the way, I have tried Thumbcal and its ok.
I hope AC is working on something like these, or if someone can point me similar apps. Facecontact is cool, but i dont want a plug-in...
Thanks!
i would ask him with PM, we allready had this discussion here if it is a good idea to open a thread to ask a developer to do somthing . i don`t think so.
The other question, you mustlife with thumbcal and pocketcm or icontact and a skin that fits to S2. His Apss are real iphone style so i would use skins that are in this style.
But after all you`re right, this 2 things (and a little gui for all) would be great.

tene started working on this a while back but I guess he just decided to stop (or is still in development). It is buggy, but I guess it is close to what you are looking for.

As far as contacts scrolling (cover flow style), the only software that I know of is Cnetx's "Face Contact". It isn't free though
