credit checking problem - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

i dont know why but whenever i check my balance it pops up saying failed
anyone else having the same problem
i have flashed two roms and have flashed two radio only roms
anyone having solution to this problem??

What service and what are you using to check your balance?

I assume he's using the USSD codes eg on O2 *#10# should return the balance.
By the way I can't get mine working either despite the USSD DLL being in place and also what are I think the correct registry settings for USSD.
Mike

I did #225# and it works for me. Is there a difference between those codes and the USSD ones?
edit//using that code doesn't work for me.

No those are the USSD codes. (of course each telecoms provider uses different codes, but yes that is an example of a USSD code)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USSD
For some reason some folks just can't get them to work and just get either a "failed" or "command not recognized" message.
I know some cooked ROMs have the USSD Dll file removed, but that's not true in my case.
Mike

yes i am using ussd codes but after switching the phone on,it works but after sending or making a call it shows failed
so what can we do and how can we check that the ussd dll is placed and where can i get this dll

Maybe those who are having problems don't have USIMs?

I'm using o2 payg. When I had a schaps rom, requesting a ussd always failed, but the automatic ussd after spending credit always worked. Now I'm using CRC's, and it always works properly.

still unsolved
actually i had schaps then i changed to the one new samsung omnia built but still same problem.i also used the schaps 8.2sunshower

will anyone please help me as it really annoys me..

Same Problem here
Hey does anyone knows what's going on with this... i currently change to T-Mobile and when trying to get the credit inf by dialing #999#(pre-paid) nothing comes out...no balloon notification , nothing...i changed the dialers from my smartphone....tried idialer(this one doesn't work because of the GC implemented in the software) , the orig wind mobile dialer ...none of them work. Strange thing same phone and an AT&T sim card does the trick when dialing *777# . I thought it was the phone but doesn't make sense...if i change the sim to any other phone it work (T-Mobile) now i'm thinking that it's a problem with the IMEI No (just a thought) when requesting The IMEI No i get something like this : yyyyyyyyyyyyyy... this is getting frustrating . Can anyone please share their thoughts ....anyone had this problem before? Could it be the USSD dll? Do you know another software that acts like USSD? Thanks In advanced

Back....no luck
I figured it up now...but still do not know how to fix it...the problem is the phone ....it has a cooked ROM- it's one of the Iphone copy M89 ...the deal is that i can't dial any numbers with # in front it worked on the at&T cause the request code for credit is *777# t-mobile has #999# i tried the sim in another phone and it works...tried it in another m89 same problem...maybe this will help if someone is reading...thanks

Caller Id not working, hardware issue?!?!

Hi,
Since a few weeks back my Trinity always shows Unknown as the user id of the incoming call.
At the beginning I thought it was Rom related, since I've been messing around with Mary's and Axel's roms. But I went back to the official one with same result.
I must admit that I have dropped the Trinity a couple of times. So I was wondering if anybody knows if this functionality is sofware or hardware related (maybe I damaged sth when dropping it?!?!)
Or maybe is some registry setting?!?!?
Any thoughts greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Elsral
I had the same problem before though i didn't update any ROM. Try downloading your telco settings again. (Network Wizard).
caller id is a service of your provider so if you disable it once il will always be disabled, whatever rom or phone you use
you can reactivate it in the settings>phone>service
Hi,
thanks both for your input.
I went to settings/phone/callerid/ and set to show to everyone.
However, I think this is only for the reverse process, to show your number to the person you are calling.
However, I still don't know who is calling me. Any other Ideas?
thanks,
elsral

Bump.
I've exactly the same problem since the beginning of january.
All the incoming voice calls are "unknown", no number is displayed.
But incoming SMS are ok, the sender number is correctly displayed.
I've reinstalled my network provider settings (Orange F), with no success.
Someone has a solution ?
Thanks.
try your sim card in another phone. i suspect your operator disabled it. you may want to give them a call.

You were right. It's same problem with my sim card in another phone.
I've called my network operator, he reset the parameters of my line, and it works now.
Thanks.

WM 6.1: cannot make call with caller ID setting = No one

My SX66 is running WM6.1 ROM from sun_dream.
Every are smooth except one problem:
When I set the Caller ID service to "no one", I can not make any call.
I do not know why. I test my SIM with another phone, calling works normally. So I guess the problem is on the ROM.
I did search the forum but did not find a clue.
Any suggestion/solution are really appreciated.
Thanks,
it is possible that the network setting for caller id varys from country to country but for germany for instance the code is 31.
for getting the status dial *#31#
for temporary sending of your callerid dial *31#
to disable callerif dial #31#
and to get the status of incoming id dial *#30#
either that works for you or you look up the codes for your country and/or carrier and try them, that way, you can tell whether really the setting is broken in the rom or just not compatible to your network and adjust it.
Thank you for quick reply.
My network uses code #31#, and I tried it but could not make the call. The same with setting "No one"
I guest that the problem is with the ROM.
have you tried upgrading your radio rom? the newest one is 1.15.00 and maybe that will do the trick. or you sim unlock your device, or you try another sim card in your device. you know, the possibilities for what went wrong are pretty limitted, but i actually would blame the rom last, since that really hardly affects the calling.

Issue 2226: Connection problem or invalid MMI code.

Hello
I have had my Hero for a couple of weeks now, however, this issue is something of a dealbreaker for me... Anyone know any workarounds?
Here is the link to it http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2226
Steps to reproduce:
1. Dial command string/MMI code such as: #190*1660#*. This is very
common and this specific case is to disconnect from a "virtual" switch on
Swedish operator Tele2. I'd assume similar codes are used by most operators.
2. Android says "MMI code started", this soon disappears and gives a
dialog box "Connection problem or invalid MMI code".
Personally I need this since I have one SIM card tied to two different bills, one personal and one for work. When I need to make private calls I dail *140# followed by the phone number.
A comment on the above thread says its passed to an engineer in march
Regards
/Doxs
Is there any solution for that?
I have HTC HERO with the same issue.
Any solution?
Thanks
I have this issue with my xperia x8 and froyo bread v23.
anybody can help?
same issue on galaxy s 2 when using some commands from this list:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193285
does anyone know what is wrong?
Is this a hardware, software or networking issue?
I have a UK phone which can't call in NL.
same problem with motorola defy running galnet miui ics build
i cannot even call a number nor can use ussd code and phones goes in not reachable mode
add * before ussd
exsample
*100*2# replace **100*2#
Adding an extra star makes no difference. Tried it.
ok dont know if it will work for you but it worked for me
add comma (,) in the end of the code
example:
*100*2# into *100*2#,
works for me

Help with phone number, "unknown"

my phone number shows up as unknown under my about phone page. so when i send a text it just shows a grey box instead of my contact picture, i know its not a big deal but its driving me crazy! is there anyway to change this?
Settings->Call settings->Additional settings->My phone number
Thats only with Cyanogen mod.
Add yourself as a contact in the phonebook
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
that doesnt work. the phone has to read its own number off the sim card. adding yourself doesnt do anything.
What ROM are you running? I know there were instances in the past where T-Mobile did not program the phone number into the SIM properly. Supposedly you could ask their customer support guys to push the number back to your SIM. Alternatively, if you have a spare phone that supports writing a number into a SIM, you could use that to program your SIM. I know my old Nokia's and Sony Ericsson's could. Maybe my old WM phone as well?

I just did this and it fixed the gray box next to my name, that box was really annoying. Thank you so much.
the additional call settings thing works just fine on CM6. my problem is that it works on some roms and not other @[email protected] annoying.
Out of curiosity, which ROM are you running? Are you saying that the number is correctly read from the SIM on some ROMs and only not on your current ROM (in which case, what I said earlier about the number not being properly stored on the SIM doesn't apply)? If that's the case, it sounds like an issue with the ROM itself and the ROM developer will need to look into it (either fixing the SIM reading code or adding in the functionality to input it in yourself like on CM).
well i switch between a few... stock, CM6, CM7, Virtuous. Here is the extremely weird thing though.....
I have an old sim card from a previous phone. The phone number used with that sim is the same as my current sim. when i put that in, say on CM7, it reads the number just fine, but when i put my activated sim in, it doesnt read it and says "unknown".
Any thoughts on whats up with that?
I know CM6 has the option to manually enter the number but CM7 doesnt have it yet. But its strange that it reads it off a different sim and not the current one.
(both sims are from same carrier too)
Call tmo, ask them to send your MSISDN to sim via OTA tool in the HLR, they'll know what to do, its a known issue with some sim cards, regardless of the rom
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
^ okay, i shall try that tomorrow probably. i just hate having to call tech support lol, i want to be able to do it myself with the modding community, not tmo XD
Isn't there an app in the Market that allows you to add your phone number to the SIM card (in case you're not running a CM based ROM)? I know I read it somewhere on this site, but for whatever reason I can't seem to find it.
Any ideas?
Same with Andromadus ROM
Hello,
I've been experiencing the same behavior on the CM10-based Andromadus ROM prepared by Flinny as of topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605016. A lot of SIM IO operations just fails, I can't see why (comparing to another Desire Z which runs stock 2.3.3 up to date).
At least, it breaks :
- SPN retrieval (Service Provider Name)
- MSISDN retrivial (your phone number)
And I think it's related to the impossibility to import contacts from SIM card.
Maybe this message can help, too https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/android-platform/zosqRzWQyNA/7QF-O09ZwzAJ

[Q] Need help: strange block on phone

Hello,
I recently bought a S5 in the netherlands (i live and use the phone in belgium). Started it up, everything works fine. I make one phonecall as required for the regionlock, works fine.
Then something strange happens, after the one phonecall required, i cant accept or make phonecalls anymore.
I get a message "your phone has been locked due to security reasons"
Now the weird thing is, if i use a simcard from another carrier, the phone just works fine, no locking whatsoever...
Called Samsung support, told the story, they tell me phone is region locked and i need to get a code, but the phone never asks me for a code nor can i put one in anywhere.
So i called my provider, they tell me the phone is blacklisted probably but they cant check that...
After some research i found out the phone is actualy from UK with an international firmware on it: G900FXXU1ANG2 (countrycode BTU)
Anyone have an idea how to get rid of this problem?
I dont want to root the phone just yet in case i have to exchange it for another one.
Would it help to get the countryspecific stock firmware installed for my country? (Belgium)
thanks a lot for the help
thale
You'd get better help if you gave us more details, notably verbatim error messages, rather than paraphrasing.
Your provider can certainly tell you if your phone is blacklisted since an IMEI blacklist is under their direct control. So ask them again to clarify that. Region locking is much more likely though. Samsung region locks phones to prevent grey market sales, which is exactly what you've tried to do. The region lock is released after you use the phone a short while with a provider in the original region, which sounds like the UK in your case. Region locking is also a type of blacklist, although that term is almost always used to refer to carrier IMEI blacklisting unless otherwise specified.
As you didn't make any preliminary calls in the UK, nor apparently did the previous owner (or vendor), the phone is now restricted. You could travel to the UK and use your phone there for a day to dissipate the region lock. Or a lot of people claim that a regular SIM unlock code, such as you can buy on Ebay or any number of other places will also remove the region lock (unconfirmed). Or you can root your phone and circumvent the region lock by editing the blocked regions in your customer.xml file.
There are lots of existing threads on this subject, as you would know if had you done a search. Refer to those for further elaboration or you can search my post history as I've posted in detail how to remove the region lock in previous posts.

Thanks for the reply, this forum was my last resort since i didnt understand the problem.
I dont get any error messages at all.
provider A in S5 --> while calling i get the message phone blocked for security reason
provider A in S4 mini --> works perfectly
Provider B in S5 --> works perfectly
so i thought problems lies with faulty simcard, exchanged it but problem stays
when i call samsung they tell me its a provider problem
when i call my provider they say its a phone problem
in europe shouldnt matter realy where you buy your phone since there's free traffic of goods and services. I wonder if the webshop knows they are selling UK phones, ill talk to them about it tomorrow.
thanks again for the reply ill try to get the problem sorted, if that doesnt work at all, i guess ill just root it and fix the problem
kind regards,
thale
Humh, sounds weird.
Use the code *#7465625# (*#SIMLOCK#) to check for the lock status. On some devices this code needs root to launch.

If I understood you correctly, your SIM card works properly in other phones. So your SIM card shouldn't be the issue. If your S5 is SIM unlocked (carrier unlocked), you could try someone else's SIM card in your S5 to rule out less common problems e.g. bent SIM socket.
And regardless, in your place, I'd open a support ticket with your provider. That should cover anything like a IMEI blacklist. All in all though it does sound like region locking. Which is Samsung blocking a phone from being used in a different region unless it has been first activated (i.e. used for a few calls) in the original region first. I wouldn't think that a region lock between two parts of Europe would be intentional, but it is still something to look into.
Without any explicit error messages, it is difficult to narrow down the cause. You might consider installing a logcat app to capture the system log which may have more information about the error.
Also try dialing *#06* and ensure that you have a valid IMEI (not all zeros)
And dial *#0011#. You should see a (IMEI) certificate "Pass"if at the end. If it says IMEI CERTI: FAIL or NA you may have a flash error or IMEI blacklist.

Hello,
phone is an unlocked one, i used 2 different simcards from 2 different providers.
imei certificate passes so thats good!
im gonna make some phonecalls today and keep you all posted

Try to use Provider A with another sim card?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Had another talk with the helpdesk from the provider, they told me the phone is blacklisted but couldnt give me a reason why.
Im only blacklisted with provider A, if u use the phone with another simcard from another provider it works like a charm.
Ive had to send them my proof of purchase, and they will unblock the phone...
Havent had any feedback yet from the shop i bought it from, so maybe they can shine a new light on the whole deal!
Try
How about contacting the retailer? I think you'd better not root the phone or fix it by yourself.
