Widcomm Bluetooth not showing all supported profiles - how to pair? - Networking

Hey all,
using a Widcomm Bluetooth stack, I have problems pairing my device. The profile I need (Serial) is not shown, and when I click "Examine device for supported profiles" I get an error message that says there are no supported profiles in the device I want to pair with.
When I try to connect/pair, the only options I get are A2DP, Headset/Handsfree, PIM Sync, ActiveSync, OBEX, LAN connect, PAN connect and VCard.
There is no Serial profile shown - even though a Serial port is shown in the Bluetooth settings (COM 6 and 7).
I used to be able to pair without any trouble with my old device (using MS stack).
[edit] Just managed to connect to my GPS via serial port - BUT only through "Examine device" option. There still is no "Connect via Serial port" option to choose from, and the BT Manager still does not recognize any supported service in the other device I want to pair with (SE MBW-150).
What do I do?? Help is much appreciated.

my internet connection trough bluetooth using my pc

Hello I have a big problem. I bought an bluetooth dongle and i cant connect my QTEK2020 to my pc via bluetooth. I tried to set a lot of settings but i just can not do it.so i need help. If anyone knows the exact settings for qtek2020 and MSIbluetooth dongle . thanx

I had a damm similar problem as i could not sync the device via bluetooth.
I have an XDA2 and upgraded my rom to the o2 release from last week. I was hoping that all the serial profile issues would have been resolved in respect to bluetooth gps, but it just made things worse as there are no obvious setting in which i can assign a serial profile to a particular port or even get activesync to work no matter what.
So finally I gave in and downloaded the Bluetooth Tools by Towas again and installed them. Straight away my xda2 was bonding with my gps again and when u add ur pc as a new device (new bonding), under the bluetooth tools u simply select activesync. then u can straight away sync initiated by the xda2 and once a connection is established, u get automatically internet access.
another issue was that my bluetooth software on the pc created too many 'dummy' serial com ports for bluetooth which didnt actually work, so i ended up removing them all under the device manager (windows system- hardware) and then setting up a new bluetooth serial port on my pc (make sure u set up just one).
get the bluetooth tools from:

Yeh, 15 serial ports my bluetooth dongle software set up on my pc, whats all that about, greedy or what?
15  !! Haha..
I only have 1 I think

no bluetooth manager

I have a step-by-step guide to accessing the internet over bluetooth on my XDA II, but I dont have the program "Bluetooth Manager". Can somebody please tell me if I should have this already, or where I can get it from?
Thanks
Allan
it was a program that came with my bluetooth dongle
when i installed the cd that came with the usb dongle
i small blue icon with the bluetooth logo came up beside my clock
and when i click it bluetooth manager comes up
maybe it have a different name with your dongle or what ever way you have bluetooth in your pc
I am using toshiba's bluetooth stack as BT is built into the laptop. The guide shows bluetooth manager software on the pocket pc too. This is what I require (I think) to connect to the laptop.
Thanks
Allan
looks like you found a guide which is for the vidcmom stack and not the ms stack
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/tribal1.asp
i cant say i know anything about toshiba's bluetooth though
This still seems like BT software for my laptop. I want "bluetooth manager" or other BT software for my XDA II. If you have a look at section 7 of the following link: http://home.comcast.net/~spam-target/activesyncz.html
It shows "bluetooth manager" being used on the XDA.
Any ideas how to get this?
Thanks
Allan
allanmb,
That's 'WIDCOMM Bluetooth Manager' (section 7)
you can get & download in this forum. (try to search )
i wasn't lucky using that.
but you dont need the widcomm bluetooth stack to activesync over bluetooth and so access the internet by using activesync's pass network connection option
if you want the PAN network profile though you'll need to install the widcomm bluetooth stack

AS over BT possible?

Does someone know if AS over BT is possible?
How to connect (which BT-profiles are available) ?
Bennju
Install a Bluetooth client software on your PC (like IVT BlueSoleil), go to Options/Settings and for "Serial A" choose "COM port 5", then pair the devices up and soon AS should recognize the Universal.
WIDCOMM stack
install the WIDCOMM stack on you PC, have ActiveSync on your PC side accept connections through your respective Serial Port over Bluetooth Link under Connection Settings in ActiveSync. start a partnership on you PPC, and make sure ActiveSync shows up as a service in the list of available services. Test by starting a sync session from your PPC in ActiveSync.
Microsoft stack included in WinXP SP2 works as well, so you can skip the WIDCOMM install bit, but I like WIDCOMM more. has more fun features.
Where can I possibly get hold of the WIDCOMM stack?
WinXp's one is good enough.

Blusoleil Bluetooth Syncronization Problem

Hi, All. For a couple of days now I am trying to synchronize my O2 Neo with my PC per bluetooth. I am using a cheap bluetooth dongle, which comes with BlueSoleil software. When the devices find each other, the Prothet only recognizes a Serial Port connection. Than I assign outgoing port on the Prophet (I think COM6), I include COM 6 in the ActiveSync (4.2 by the way) settings and map COM6 to my prophet in the Bluesoleil settings. When I refresh the services on my Prophet I can again only see the Serial port connection. Can someone give a hint?

Step by Step - Using Xperia as a BT Modem

Can someone explain this?
It would be appreciated!
Want to know that too!
I had the option to use use my HTC TyTN II as a modem, in the default Comm Manager.
Can we use the same Comm Manager from HTC? And thus get the opportunity to use X1 as a USB or Bluetooth modem?
It's built into the ROMs look for 'Internet Sharing' ... It's an application
Since it's a WM6.1 phone, I'm sure this has been covered many many times. Google it.
Guys, I am trying to connect via Bluetooth, not usb cable. Usb cable is trivial, you just connect the cable and hit internet connection. However, it isn't that easy with BT. Does my pc need any special BT software? How do you pair it and then what do you do to use the internet? I have ATT so do I need to create a modem? etc. Thanks.

you can use this one aswell.
not bluetooth but will do.
Hi
Many PC bluetooth implementations whether built-in or add-on will come with their own software. The bluetooth stack that was introduced for XP with SP2 will, generally not be as comprehensive as the bluetooth stack shipped with your bluetooth device.
Not all bluetooth devices come with their own bluetooth software, some rely on that which MS added to XP with XP SP2.
The X1 (like all WM5+ WM phones) supports Bluetooth PAN. There are several steps to perform before this will work.
1) On The X1 turn on bluetooth and make it discoverable.
2) On the X1, start up 'Internet sharing', select the internet connection, i.e: 'contract internet', and select bluetooth as the connection medium. Tap 'Connect'
3) Pair the X1 with the PC: On the PC, use your bluetooth software (or that which comes with XP) to search for a bluetooth device. Once its found, enter the same pass key on both ends (aaaa is fine, since its only a temporary key), and complete the paring process. You should then end up with a list of services that the device (the X1) offers. One of these should be 'Network Access' or 'Bluetooth PAN', choose this.
4) You should get a shortcut to the connection you just set up above in the bluetooth software on your PC, double clicking it should make it connect.
5) In future, to connect, you start up 'Internet Sharing' on the X1, select bluetooth as the connection method and 'Contract Internet' (or similar) as the connection, then hit connect. On the PC, you click the shortcut that you ended up with in (4).
6) I **don't use** the bluetooth support built into XP SP2, but rather the bluetooth stack supplied with my laptop. I have never tried to get bluetooth PAN working with the generic bluetooth support that shipped with XP(SP2) - i.e I am not 100% sure that the above will work with it.
The following url might help: http://www.wifizard.com/tutorialsXP/generic_bluetooth_pan/index.htm
