"Installation of PocketX Photo Contacts PRO.CAB was unsuccessful" - Mogul, XV6800 General

I have 148.08MB of storage and 23.21 MB of program memory. (Just finished a hard reset.) And PCP will still not download. On their website under troubleshooting it says that the possible reason for this error is low memory.
ROM Version: 3.35.671.9
Radio Version: 3.37.20
Windows Mobile 6 Professional
Dell XPS Vista Edition COmputer
Somebody please help.

What version
Are you sure you downloaded the version meant for PPC? coz if you have the version for Smartphones, that wont work. I have the software and it works great, if you try and it doesnt work, PM me, I will send u my copy and see if that helps

Downgrading from WM2003

I just tried WM2003 and came back to SER 1.2 without problems - I was told it's not possible without SD card. Am I so lucky?
Funny, I did the very same thing before reading it couldn't / shouldn't be done, makes me think though, what if it had all gone wrong!!!!!!
For those who have tried the WM2003, please advise me whether it's worth my risk (I'm still indecisive) :?
Just tried to upgrade from 1st version of WME2003 to the latest using the upgrade utility, no go. Goes into upgrade mode on PC & PPC, then progress bar screen on PPC goes to white, a few minutes later a error pop-up on PC telling me to reset & run utility again. When I do so same problem. I'm just curious what version on Activesync are you running & on OS on the Desktop
Thanks

Hey Erick,
I had the same problem with the 1st version of WM2003. I was unable to do the upgrade with the utility. It would seem like the version 4.00.01 of WM2003 is far more mature in terms of this sort of functionality. For example, ActiveSync would not connect with the device in standby. This is not the case in the new version of 2003 which goes to show that maybe some processes were not running.
Going by what I experienced with the older WM2003, I did not try an RUU flash to test if the newer version worked, but I won't be surprised if it does. I was running ActiveSync 3.7 with WinXP Pro.
Thanks Sheran. So I guess it's SD card time This is an ActiveSync problem not an OS problem? What do you think? SD card should work right?
The reason I'm suggesting ActiveSync is I am unable to use any ROM utility to flash any ROM version now, which I was able to do before i.e. SERv1.1.
I believe I had the previous version of ActiveSync back then & now ActiveSync freaks-out when I try to use the upgrade utility for any ROM.

I'm thinking this has more to do with the WM2003 1st version (3.04 build 13083) OS rather than your PC OS or even your ActiveSync. I think the reason some people can use the ROM Upgrade Utility is because they are running the newer version of WM2003 (Ver 4.00.01 build 13100) which seems to work well with ActiveSync.
Unfortunately if you install the older version, until I'm told otherwise, the only way to get out of it is to do an SD Card flash.
Thanks again Sheran I tend to use the SD method, wanted to not have to wait for two write processes. Oh well back to the tried and true method, for now 8)
I was running the newer version (build 13100)
Activesync 3.7, Windows XP Proffesional

"Not a proper pocket pc application."

As I seem to have problems getting any of I attempt to download to actually work, I went to the MYXDA.COM site.
They had a link for the following PictPocket Cinema 2.7 movie player:
http://www.pdastreet.com/software/pdas/PictPocket-Cinema-2002-6-10-pdastreet-pdas.html
Unfortunately I received the following (and usual) error message:
"Not a proper pocket pc application."
I also got this with EVERY VERSION of the fax software that has been listed on this forum.
What am I doing wrong?
Provider: Orange
Machine: SPV-M1000 (SPV2020)
OS: MS Pocket PC
Version: 4.20.0 Build (13252)
ROM: 1.60.00 WWE
ROM Date: 12/03/03
Radio: 1.10.00
Protocol: 1337.18
I really can't download any app. It is heart-breaking.(!)
I have the Harry Potter III movie trailer & I really want to watch it.
Thanks
Dave
I started getting that error message when I answered yes to replacing the gx.dll file, after installing an older PPC app. I had to HARD RESET to get my gx.dll file back because I didn't make a backup. If you have a backup of your gx.dll, copy it over and try again.

thanks.
Thanks for that, i will give it a try this evening.
The annoying thing is that this device is brand new and hasn't had one app installed yet. my ISP say the reason the e-mail isn't working is because of a software issue and also advise a full restore.

Version of ActiveSync not compatible with the connected mobile Device
This is the error I receive no matter what I have read to do or not do to my Desktop PC.
These are the setting in the Device:
New I-Mate Jasjar with
ROM Version: 1.12.38 WWE
ROM Date 8/24/05
Radio Version: 1.03.00
Protocol Version: 42.36.P8
ExtRom Version: 1.12.120 WWE
I realize that there is a new Rom Update but I can't sync with my Desktop to get the file? 62 MB by the way.
These are the actions I took to try and rid this error message.
Cleared Temp folder (%temp%) in all user accounts.
In the registry deleted HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services key
Deleted HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services
Uninstalled Microsoft Activesync from Add/Remove Programs
Deleted Activesync folder from Programs Files
Restarted the computer
Installed Microsoft Activesync 4.0 many times and 4.1.0 Build 4807 many times all the while deleting the other before the new install.
This is what happens after a new install.
The device is seen by my Computer running Windows XP SP2 and loads the device- At this point everything looks good.
ActiveSync start and actually connects to the device but only as a GUEST not as the device name that I imputed in the JASJAR.
NEXT the Error occurs “This Version of Microsoft ActiveSync is not compatible with the connected mobile device. Please upgrade to the latest Version of Microsoft ActiveSync and reconnect."
If I click on the OK button underneath the error. The device connects but I cannot explore the contents or sync to the device whatsoever.
Could anyone aid in getting this problem resolved. I have spent over 10 hours trying to figure this out looking at all other forums but no one seams to have a resolution.
This Link seam to have had the issue happen with eairlier version of ActiveSync but I have followed each step but still no resolution.

Update to Above
I just went out and purchased a new computer and installed Activesync 4.1 and outlook 2003 Xp on the XP Pro machine. When I went to connect the USB cable it found a new Pocket PC device but didn't list that it found the JASJAR. Then activesync started and it happened again.
This Version of Microsoft ActiveSync is not compatible with the connected mobile device. Please upgrade to the latest Version of Microsoft ActiveSync and reconnect."
When I click on OK I get connected as a Guest account only but can't see any items on the Pocket PC.
I had the same problem...
It's a compatibility issue with Antivirus.
Uninstalled the antivirus and the device got recognized

AKU 3.5 Rom and Memory issue

Hi, I've upgraded my XDA with the above ROM and eveything seemed OK for a few days. Now however I am haing a problems. Active sync will not sync with outlook and tells me that "There is not enough free memory on your device to synchronize information.....". When I try to sync with our PDA server (Nokia intellisync) it also tells me it can't as there is not enough memory. However, when I check Start-Setting-System-Memory it tells me I have 17.2Mb Free Storage and 21.5Mb free Program memory.
Anyone any ideas?

Have you tried a soft reset? Also, when you say that the sync with the PDA server is reporting low memory, which end is giving the message (server or Uni?)
Yeah tried a few soft resets. The error is being reported by Activesync and by the PDA server, this is being told this by the device as far as I can see.
8007000e
I have same problem. I solved problem and now everything work fine. So in first I have to say that problem was in extROM. After my first upgrade from WM2003 to WM5 was everything OK but memory for install new program was about 14 MB so I use Hima doc tool to unhide extROM and merge with ROM to get 16+14MB. Ok but after that I decidet put newer ROM so I flash again and after that problems came. I can't synchronize my device with outlook because : eror 8007000e " There is not enough free memory on your device to synchronize information...." . Problem as I found was in extROM so I use Hima_DOC_Restore_1.0 -just copy into device and run exe file in your ppc - after then HR and synchronization works perfect. After that you can again use HIM doc tool and enlarge ROM.....
I hope it will helps
ps: sorry for my english
