I recently brought a Bluetooth USB Adapter, and i've installed the software on there, which was IVT BlueSoleil 5.0. (uses Integrated System Solution Corp.(ISSC) Chip)
It says the adapter has 6 services. It says the adapter supports Bluetooth Advanced Audio Service which im not sure what this is.
However the icon for Bluetooth Headset/Microphone is grayed out. (Which i guess the USB Adapter doesn't support it)
It says on the box, it should support Bluetooth Headset.... how do i enable this?
The bluetooth adapter is compliant to bluetooth 2.0
I want to be able to use the Headset function, which will allow me to use my bluetooth hand-free on my PC....
If its simply the adapter doesn't support it, then is there any ways to force it to support? or how would i be able to find an adapter that does support it?
Which profile will i exactly need to be able to do this?
Also is there any other software i can use to get this thing to work?
Maybe you can let windows install the default microsoft bluetooth driver?
just remove the blusoleil driver. But i must say that most of the time, the microsoft driver is a lot worse than other drivers.

Judging by the number of topics on Activesync and Bluetooth a lot of people seem to be having difficulty synchronising their XDAII via Bluetooth. I am no exception.
I bought a Bluetooth PCMCIA card from eBay made by Sphinx Elektroniks (Germany) which came with Bluetooth Monitor v1.0.14 Build 1 software. See
http://www.sphinx-elektronik.de/deutsch/bluetooth/picocard_tech.htm
Whilst my XDAII and PC have bonded ok with the XDAII clearly visible in the Environment pane, it does not seem possible to either transfer files between XDAII and PC nor to get Activesync to work. There is no Activesync profile (from what I can see) in the Bluetooth Monitor software, there are only 3 "services" listed:
- SSA (this has modem symbol)
- ? OBEX Object Push
- ? Service Discovery
I have tried installing the first two on an available serial COM port, e.g. 2, 5 or 6 and then going into Activesync on the PC and trying to "Get connected" but the PC can't see the any of these ports when it looks for a mobile device. The third of the services in the list above reports an error "the service cannot be installed. SCN (service channel number) is 0". I have also tried to initiate Bluetooth connection from the XDAII, both via the Settings, System, Bluetooth Settings, Bluetooth ActiveSync Setup "Start". I have also made sure that the PC ActiveSync Connection Settings has the "allow serial cable or infrared connection to this COM port" is enabled but the ports 2, 5 or 6 are not visible.
So it seems I am stuck. Anyone else had similar problems or had any success with this type of Bluetooth card?
If the card supports serial profile it should work, just make sure you have not bonded with anything on your xda2, go to settings/system/bluetooth, choose the "sync by bluetooth" it will tell you to bond with a serial profile capable bt service, let it search. Make sure you are in discover mode. I have a cheap bt dongle which came with the widcomm software and I am using bluetooth to sync and I am able to surf the web anywhere in the house on my xda2. I can even use my pc as my headset and listen to the phone through the pc speakers and use the mic to speak to the phone.
I just checked that site and it seems that your card does support serial profile so it should work. If it has the bluetooth wizard you need to set up all the protocols that you will be using first.
Hi cruisin-thru,
Yes I saw your earlier post about your success with your cheap Bluetooth dongle. I'm glad you got it working.
Sadly, I've already tried your suggested method but when I do the Settings/System/Bluetooth Settings and click the "Start" button for Bluetooth ActiveSync Setup (which is what I assume you are referring to) it comes up with the error message "Please bond with other Bluetooth device which supports serial port or ActiveSync profile as your ActiveSync partner!". When I click ok it goes to the Bluetooth mode screen (which shows "Discoverable" still. I can only conclude that my Pico card is not compatible with ActiveSync or serial port modes.
My XDAII synchronises fine by USB and IrDA but Bluetooth would be good for surfing, as you know.
Rafil.
You definitely have the serial profiles activated on your pc??
Dear Cruisin-thru,
Thanks for your help on this subject but the Pico card & software I have just don't work with the XDAII. There is no way to do the serial port profiles in a way that the XDAII can see it. I have decided to abandon the Pico card and to go for the dongle that you recommended. For the benefit of all XDAII users who want to sync by Bluetooth, cruisin-thru kindly supplied the following link on eBay for the USB Bluetooth dongle that does work:
http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI...blue-future&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50
Regards -- Rafil.
Here is a link to the software I am using with the dongle.

Make sure the dongle is unplugged until you get the prompt. Make sure previous software is removed also.
I just bought a Microsoft bluetooth mouse with the USA bluetooth adapter.
But I cannot use bluetooth ActiveSysnc with it. After I get connected with the USB bluetooth adapter, it didnt show me some choice for choosing the ActiveSySnc.
as far as i know that's not possible... i myself have the MS BT Desktop and no luck with my XDA II (but with my Acer BT USB adapter). i hope that xpSP2 does the trick but i had no time to try...
Can you send a email to MS to ask them this question?
take a look here
It does work fine over here - even without XP SP2.
The MS Bluetooth Transceiver uses a CSR-Chipset and can be driven with a WIDCOMM BT-Stack.
Just have a look at this thread:

Or you give the Preview a try... ... if you prefer the Microsoft way. Maybe this works, too.

where can i find the " btwusb.inf "?
The scenario, which prolly many of you recognize yourselves in, -
Everyday i have to carry around a laptop, to work, to gf, to sweet home etc etc.
The laptop has builtin bluetooth and plenty of Gbs to store music and video.
So, what i'd like to do is be able to browse my files on the laptop and stream all these superplenty musicfiles.
Since i'm already carrying around this big heavy blob of laptopness i might aswell use the files stored inside...
The thing is.. i can't.
Tytn won't (can't?) discover the networking service on my laptop.
Tho my home-pc has no problem discovering it and using it, thus i've successfully created a bluetooth network between home-pc and laptop.
I'm sure it's none of the computers fault since both can discovers each's service and tytn discovers neither ones networking service.
I'm thinking it might be that tytn (wm?) doesn't support networking service over bluetooth albeit that's a little weird.
Is there any way to enable/disble/view provided bluetooth services (in the tytn)?
Are there any settings/hacks/3rd pary software which allows me to do this?
Same problem w/ my Sony VAIO Picturebook w/ built-in Bluetooth version 1.0.
So, I purchased a USB Bluetooth 1.2 dongle and Jasjam was detected as modem/serial port. Maybe Jasjam BT not backwards compatible w/ old version of BT?
Guys, please RTFWiki.
WindowsMobile 5 with AKU lower then 3.0 does not have support for BT Networking profile.
I've managed through pain and misery to get Activesync to work through bluetooth (not easy with widcomm stacks as drivers).
When my PC boots up, Activesync (PC) will complain that the bluetooth COM port isn't connected (obviously because my phone isn't connected through bluetooth 24/7)
So everytime I reboot my PC, I have to re-check the COM port connection in the connection options (PC) to make Activesync listen to my bluetooth COM.
Any suggestions?
Also, I know that when my phone is connected via USB, my phone will gain access to the internet (My PC has the internet connection and shares it to the phone). With bluetooth I havent been able to get this to work. Yet both USB & bluetooth work through Activesync. Is there something Im missing?
Thnx! I hope this isn't too specific/complicated like question
I used to have some of the same problems. What I found that usually it was 2 things causing it.
1. Activesync - Installation or Configuration
2. BT Software - Installation, Configuration or Need BT Software upgrade
What fixed my issue was 2 fold: activesync settings & needed to upgrade my dongle's software.
Activesync: When I installed 4.5 it setup a network connection that kept running in. And when I started up my PC I could see the icon running in my sys-tray (and would have troubles on and off again either with bluetooth / USB sync. What I found that worked for activesync was uninstall and make sure you check off allow wireless activesync connection. I've also found it likes to use com 3 for BT activesync.
BT Dongle: I have Motorola PC850 dongle and found that there was a great new BT Stack update that would hold the settings even if I turned my PC off for weeks at a time or removed the dongle to somewhere else. Plus it fixed the issue I had with using my BT stereo headset, to listen to music with out pops and skips. Oh In your BT settings make sure that com 3 or what ever your using is the same as activesync
Hope I can test those few tweaks.
However, after connecting my phone to activesync by USB, now my phone won't even connect by bluetooth to my PC anymore.

It's possible, mine worked fine (using kies drivers probably). The only thing i noticed is a yellow mark (!). You can get rid of that to disable sms in the bluetooth settings.

Broadcom
Hi,
I had troubles installing my S4 on windows 7 using windows drivers.
I uninstalled all Bluetooth software then cleared device driver build-up with USB Deview.
I then installed Broadcom Device Drivers, and re-paired my phone with only one S4 BT device not installed.
These are all the S4 BT devices I got installed okay:
Bluetooth Hands-free Audio
Bluetooth L2CAP Interface
Bluetooth Remote Control
GATT Protocol
GAP Protocol
Bluetooth Headset AG
Bluetooth Hands-free AG
Bluetooth AV Remote-Control Target
Bluetooth AV Source
Bluetooth Network Access
Bluetooth Personal Area Network User (PANU)
Bluetooth OPP
Bluetooth Message Access
I hope this helps
you need to look for BT drivers for your BT, there are no such BT drivers for specific devices. Look on your manufacturer's website and look for BT drivers for your computer model
S4 BT FTP Working
Hi again,
I've found that I can get the last uninstalled BT service mentioned above installed by using Bluetooth File Transfer -- namely the FTP service.
With BT turned off, using the BFT Widget: I activated "Bluetooth File Receiving Service (OPP) Port 12" and then the "Bluetooth File Sharing Service (FTP) Port 30", and then I turned BT on and re-paired with Windows. All BT services found on my S4 were installed.
My S4 appeared in Windows Explorer as a system folder under My Computer--with full upload/download capabilities--just as if I had connected via USB cable, though only the internal memory was available, not the SD card.
I hope this helps more so
