Hello All.
I am currently in the process of developing an application to text mobiles via an activesync connected device.
So no subscriptions, no pay per text etc etc.. Simply uses your phone\tarrif to send messages..
I was considering releasing it on here, and wondered what (if any) would the interest be? Would anyone use it?
It's in the early dev stages at the moment... But I am willing to consider BETA testers.
Would you be willing?
Cheers
MikeSel^
yes i would love to help beta your application. let me know when its ready! cheers!
Sounds good, I had a program to do this with my ancient Nokia.
If you can make it provider independent I would love to test it
I would also love to help beta your application. let me know when its ready! Thanks
Would you be able to make it read text's also, so you could use it like an email client - would be easier for me to send texts whilst at work like this.
I would be willing to test.
I would use this daily as i send alot of text messages!
this would be great, my phone is hooked up to activesync the whole time at work and im constantly sending txts.
I can send texts from MS Outlook 2k7, no activesync or phone hookup needed- but I think you have to have Sprint as a carrier and a hotmail account.
Thanks for your replies..
I will add them all to my development plans, and post up once the beta is ready to test.
This will be completely independant from any carriers as it will simply use your phones carrier to send\receive messages!
If you have any feature requests feel free to reply with them now.
Thanks

Ability to browse inbox/sent items if you can please - so no interaction with the phone is needed.
Also, mark messgaes read/unread and delete.
They are all i would probably use. Cheers for the effort man!
Read/Unread... Good idea!!
**Runs off to implement**
KEEP UM COMING!
I use my mobile from desktop by using http://www.jeyo.com/index.asp its not free but works well for me.
I'm very interested in this...
Will you run a client application on the device, or are you directly accessing the data? (RAPI maybe?)
Well the idea stems from Jeyo, I've used it for ages.. But I feel there are parts missing from it. An I like to be able to customize the software to how I want to use it.
I am currently using RAPI with a 'server\client' type thing going on. However I am not sure this will be how it ends up. Depends on how much I can squeese from RAPI.
Looking forward to this mate, should be a good little project for you.
I know what u mean with customizing software that ur using.

OK, how about supporting command line so that i can send txt msgs using my '.net programs'.
Even better would be to expose a sort of API through a dll file.
I would love that.
Ok, Well my proof of concept exe may help you there.. The exe simply reads from a text file. First line phone number, next line message..
So I have an app that creates the text message copies it to the device and then starts the exe. Which sends the exe,,
So if you want to use this, make the text file in the root of the device and run the exe.
I will build in a similar function to the final version.
Thanks
Mike
cool im looking forward to this. it would be really usefull.
im up for this too....will it work with Vista?
mDesktop is wicked for txtin from tour desktop, if you have ur diamond connected the txts pop up on you monitor 2
hi today i was out with my bike....running a bit on the road... and i had to stop to help a brother biker fallen. now i thaught that maybe a small application for our phone could help him (or anyone is in need) that take the coordinates from gps and send it by sms with an help request or message to a prefixed number so could be much more easyer to find him (could also be nice in high mountain or anywhere else)
can some one write this small app?
There are loads of apps that send gps coordinates by SMS
I want a program for our beloved diamond to send the sms to predefined date and time, but can not seem to find anything online, someone can help me? many thanks
nobody can help me??
bump
I think this is a really good idea and have thought of it myself.
I am a wedding photographer. I bought my phone because of the strong windows presence allowing me to use microsoft office to edit save and email contracts to clients after showing them the slideshow of my AMAZING work. 8)
On a wedding day, I an my assistant have to split up from time to time and we both have to conform to a TIGHT and hectic schedule. Communication during these times can get tricky.
Scheduling a string of texts to my assistant i.e.
11:00 am Be at the church in an hour with the bride
12:45 am Make sure groom is in location
2:00 pm Get to the reception venue and cover detail shots
6:00 pm Where the hell is dinner get me a drink from the bar...
That would be an amazing plus to my communication during my wedding workday.

RJV SMS Scheduler v1.4
This is abit off topic for the current forum but there is an application which can delay sms to predifined date/time

I heard that there is a way that you can schedule your text messages, in other words if you wanted to send a message 3 hrs from now you can write the message now and then set the time you want it sent. I was wondering if anyone has the link or cab file that will let me be able to do this.
thanks
Seriously?
You know, it takes less keystrokes and mouse clicks to use the search feature than it does to post a thread.
Try the first link
Trinket Software makes an application that does just that. It's called PowerSMS. It's a paid app. Costs $9.99. (a steep price imo). Available in Marketplace and here: http://www.trinketsoftware.com/PowerSMS/ There's a trial available as well.

I understand why someone would want this feature to schedule Sms... i too am not completely loyal with my gf, and at times when im with someone else I need to get away to txt her.... If you have a program like this, u can check in without checking in lol.... now the real question... could someone make a AI (artificial inteligent) auto respnder.. that could reply with sense other txts messages heheh... cheers
power sms
theres an app in the market place..you can buy it for 99 cents its called power sms!
power SMS
I use power SMS and it works perfectly.
the free sms app is not good. it doesnt support landscape, and the keyboard pops up when u search contacts to add to ur scheduled sms.
go with powersms, its only a dollar on the marketplace but 9.99 online. (lol)
Hey There,
i have a dream...
As i am not really in time with the birthday's of my friends i watched out for some app that will remind me everytime someone had a birthday.
There are some apps they can do this. Some can sync with Contacts/Facebook and the Calendar. Some can import the dates form facebook to the calendar. And some can send semi-automaticly sms to my guys.
But i'm too lazy to think. I have a phone that cost about 500 € and simply the phone should think for me
I want an app that will be able to read the users contacts and/or facebook contacts. Sync the Birthday-Dates with calendar and/or facebook and send automaticly a congratulation sms to contacts that i've choosed.
Not only remind me to congratulate. Just do it!
Thats what the App must do:
- Read every day the contacts / events.
- Check if there is an Birthday.
- Check if the user set the Contact for automatic sms
- Create automatic the sms with name and year of the friend and some user defind message and send it.
- Notify the user about the send sms.
Expamle:
Max Mustermann's Birthay is today. Hes born on 01.01.1980.
The sms can be:
Happy Birthday %Name (max) to your %Year (31)th Birthday.
Thats it.
I'm not a good programmer, i know a little bit about html, php and visual basic. But nothing about how to program an andoird app and i've not enough time to lern it.
For an Developer should it be easy to do that?! I would buy it or donate something
It's just an idea
Thanks for reading. Sorry for some bad gramatic!
This is a perfect example of what's wrong with today's youth, and I'm certain that the OP is young, perhaps 25 or under.
You want to automatically send Happy Birthday greetings to people? You can't be social enough to phone them and tell them directly? How about a hand-written card?
So many "youngsters" have become so anti-social, they have lost the ability, and the desire, to actually speak to people. They spend all day inside on the computer, or texting each other when, in many cases, the person with whom they're texting is only a few metres away. (shaking his head)
If someone is important enough for you to want to send them a Happy Birthday text message ... CALL THEM!
Otherwise, they simply are NOT important to you.
Personally, if I got a Happy Birthday text message, I'd consider the person who sent it of little value to me, and I'd be insulted.
Have a great day.
missunderstood...
oh, you're right in some point's.
BUT
I think i'm not anti-social. I'm forgetable! I know today, that a friend have his birthday tomorrow but tomorrow i'm too busy and forget it till the evening.
It's not fact that i want only automatic birthday sms. I want automatic birthday sms to dont forget birthdays. Every guy who had an birthday will get his card, present and mostly a party from me.
Sure someone would use such an app to send everyone a greeting just to send it.
Not me! The congratulations would be later in the real world and in an social-interaction. But the first shoot will be the sms.
Understand that?
Have a nice day, too!
You live in an automated time - use it as a tool!
Aside from philosophical arguments about the use of automated birthday greetings, this is a good programming exercise for those who are still learning Android app development. It's simple enough that one person can manage it, but not so simple that a monkey could do it. I may give this a try.

Thats a nice comparison I think its not so hard to do that job. Unfortunately i haven't enough time to learn it by myself.
If i can help anything, i'll do! Graphics or something...Just let me hear about it.
I am one of those users who would forget birthdays BUT i would rather have the app remind me to call of buy a birthday-card instead of automatically texting. It feels like cheating...
It's the same thing with receiving a envelope with money instead of a proper present. Wouldn't it be nice that friends would actually take the time to really think about your present instead of putting some money in a envelope?
In short, I would have the he app remind me every 3 hours at that particular day! That would really work for me!
Birthday/Event Notification Contact app - People
Hey,
i won't make some advertisment here, but at the moment our development team is developing such a contactapp. It will be possible to get notifications(custom notifications) on contacts events such as birthday, wedding day, .. Any possible event you can think off. Birthdays and even contact-pictures will be synced with facebook, or twitter (don't sure about that yet).
I'm sure that you want to here now that you can download it right now from the market, but i'm sorry. You have to wait a little bit. At the moment we do some intern beta-testing.
But until you will find it in the market. Visit our site:
http://tundem.com or our twitter http://twitter.com/#!/TundemMedia
So stay tuned.
