Recently, I managed to get my hand on Cingular 8525, since I have bad experience with flex cable I opened my 8525 to check that flex cable OK.
But, I find that the flex cable have torn in half, but all the function was OK, got no issues at all. So I was thinking that the flex cable was torn in purpose by manufacturer to prevent hack with adding front camera on 8525. I was 90% sure that the flex cable was not broken due the usage of the phone, the seal sticker was intact and there are not any indication that the phone has been dismembered before.
So, If any one have 8525 with HT705 production code who had been dismembered his or hers 8525, please confirm that you have good or torn flex.
The reason I am asking this, because my friend offered me some used 8525 with same production code, so I'm just being "safe" with my future investment. And the tear on flex seem to get wider if slide more often.
I will try to post the picture of my torn flex when I dismember the phone again.
Thank you all !!!!

So I bought a new housing for my O2 XDA II Mini, during the removal of the display ribbon I broke the little black part on the display connector which holds the ribbon down, and after hours of trying to get the ribbon back in and secured I have bent the pins in the connector to buggery.
The ribbon appears to be untouched, however the connector which the display ribbon goes into is broken.
Is there anywhere I can get hold of one of these little connectors to replace my broken one, obviously very sensitive soldering will be needed to remove the old one and solder the new one in place.
Alternatively, does anyone know any mobile phone repair shops in Auckland, New Zealand who would be able to help out with my situation?
I fear all i'm going to hear back is "the motherboard needs to be replaced", however I am determined not to go through this route, as I am a poor student and the phone sounds as if it functions fine, makes the beepy noise when first starting up on the setup screen.
I was very careful with the actual screen unit while removing it, and I have had signs of life earlier on in the broken connector episode, however I can no longer get anything showing as I can't fit the cable in.
Cheers for any help.
Anything would be appreciated.
"obviously very sensitive soldering will be needed"
And that only can be done by machines/robots. I don't think humans are even able to sloder those kind of connections...
But, could you post a picture? cause I might have suggestions on how to fix it. One would be to bend back the pins on the tiny slot with a toothpick and when done to tape the flatcable, so it stays there.
I've maybe got a spare creen for you.

Hi, I've still got a SPV 500 and a MDA Compact, need to find it if you want you can have my MDA Compact screen.
Just PM if you are interested.
Hey guys, I need the ribbon cable for an 8525, I actually need 2 of them because I severed one, and then I severed the replacement from another phone that I bought. At first, I bought a ribbon cable from cnn.cn but it doesn't work for some reason, it just shows a white screen no matter what. I swapped my phones board into another persons phone and it worked fine, I put theirs in mine with the cnn.cn ribbon cable, and same thing, white screen. So, does anyone have a broken 8525 in which the ribbon cable is still in tact and not water damaged? If so, please let me know, I would like to buy it off of you, or, does anyone know where I can buy a ribbon cable that will work? Thanks!
theres many ribbon cables - please specify
Have you tested different front keyboard circuit board? I mean this part: http://cnn.cn/shop/tytnsoftbank-x01ht-front-keyboard-p-1553.html ?
I had the fading to white problem and it was fixed with that(there are a lot of faulty front KB switchboards around)..
You can also try a solution found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303872&page=8 post #78 -it might help you.

The one that goes from the LCD to the mainboard.
Yes I have tried, it's no the white screen problem, the ribbon itself is the problem, I took the ribbon out of anther phone and tried it with the front keyboard thats in my phone, worked perfectly....

If you read my original post, I bought one from there, the cable doesn't work, it just shows a white screen, so I'm not sure whether the cable is defective, or if they cable they are selling is just incompatible.
If anyone has a broken phone with a good ribbon cable, please let me know ASAP, I'd like to buy it ASAP and am willing to pay a good price. Thanks!!
anyone have anything??
Hey guys!
I've a really big problem:
I tried to fix the "white screen of death" syndrom of my SPV M3100. But when I put together the phone again (the LCD-part) I didn't push in the flex cable of the LCD hard enough into its connector, so when I closed back the LCD part, I might have damaged the flex cable. What I know for sure is that I broke the 2 white small crooks of the connector (by accident of course). Now when I turn on the phone, the screen stays off (but the upper LED for GSM/UMTS connectivity glows for a few seconed, also the LEDs from the small keypad), only when I push hard enough on the LCD-flexcable-connector, I see a white screen, sometimes some lines, but I never saw a "good screen" again. Now my fear is, that I screwed up the LCD flex cable, what can I do in that case? buy a whole new LCD only cuz the ribbon is broken? Do I have to replace the flex cable of the phone itself too, (cuz the crooks of the connector ar broken) or can I glue the connector somehow?
I hope you know what I mean. If you need any more info plz ask me.
Plz help me in this issue, this phone is the best I've ever ever had, I don't want to lose it! Thanks in advance!
greetz from Vienna, sebid.
PS: took you a pic, so you know about what connector I'm talking about.
You will need Both.
Go on ebay and try to see if someone is selling the same Cell for Parts that might help you in getting your parts cheat.White Screen is indication of a bad LCD and you said you damage your flex cable too so should try ebay for a Parts Phone.Good Luck. D
Hello All,
I have a Cingular 8125 (ie HTC Wizard 100 Gen 3) that I was replacing the case on this weekend, after purchasing a new case from eBay.
I managed to break the ribbon that leads from the L-shaped board behind the screen to the upper button and speaker when the project was 90% finished!
I now either need to sell the Wizard , including the brand new factory case, or find a replacement for that board.
I am open to either buying this board from someone who has a Wizard to part out, or I can sell the whole thing here at firesale.
I am attaching two photos detailing the damaged ribbon cable.
Any help with parts is greatly appreciated!
My Hermes has been suffering from screen whitening for couple of weeks, when it one day stayed all white. I've taken apart my Hermes and reconnected all connectors I've seen, including D-Pad connector, tightening and loosening the screws. Nothing worked... What should I buy? Do you think that the actual screen may be faulty? Or maybe the flex is damaged and I should buy it?

I have been reluctant to answer this, because there is no guaranteed answer. You have tested and reset the connector, but did you try placing some padding on the d-pad chip - to push it more firmly against the d-pad board. It has been quite successful for some members here. It is thought that a common cause of the white screen is a poor connection on the chip.
You could try getting a new d-pad board or a part from a second hand device that does not suffer from the white screen problem. If you know someone with the correct equipment you could also try re-flowing the solder on the board.
But I would say that a new board is not guaranteed to solve the problem as it is still possible that the flex cable may be faulty (or it's connector.
Mike
First of all, thanks for answer.
Yes, I've tried pushing it harder. Also I unpluged D-Pad and tried to turn on- still white screen. Unfortunately, I don't have access to any spare parts of this phone.
I bought Flex cable on ebay and IT WORKED!!! Yay, but now I'm experiencing some problems with usb connection
