I have Dopod 818 Pro..
Suddenly, my SD slot isn't working, I already soft reset, Hard reset, Upgrade ROM from WM5 to WM6.1. Nothing is working,
so does the bluetooth. Everytime i enable the BT, its back to disabled.
My prophet is never dropped or damaged. it happened suddenly.
Any idea for solutions??
Same fault here. All was working OK, then it seriously corrupted an SD card to the extent that it can no longer be read by anything (I've not tried it with an other one yet). Also, Bluetooth will not switch on. The busy icon appears and it spins for 20 seconds, then just returns to OFF.
Radio rom downgraded back to 2.19.21
Hard SPL'd to 2.g4.4pda
Same fault in all WM5, 6 and 6.1 roms tested
*This began to happen _after_ I took the thing apart to clean and investigate the LCD high pitch whistle* Something has not bee put back correctly
Are there any images of the inside with significant items such as BT aerial etc highlighted? I need to get in there and look for bad connections.
I've fixed my BT problem (touch wood).
When reassembling the pda, the aerial panel surrounding the camera and speaker, was not put back into place correctly. There are three separate aerials on it.
Looking at the panel assembled in the phone, there is a small strip aerial to the right hand side, this has a single leg that extends down to contact a pad on the pcb. I'm guessing that this is the BT aerial by process of elimination
The leg got bent when removing the panel and did not make contact when reassembled. I also noticed that over tightening the two top screws will deform the panel and cause similar problems.
I now have working BT and the SD card reader has not caused any further problems.
wll, ive never open the PDA, and it happened suddenly. Im afraid to open the whole prophet to check whats goin on in there..
i0i, can you please explain me again step by step, by using picture? so i can understand completely of what you said ..hopefully i can rescue mine thanks
There is a good guide to taking apart the Prophet over at Modoco, the link is in the Prophet wiki. Otherwise there is a link to the service manual here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=385944
It contains good photos and instructions. Like I said, my identification of the BT aerial is not 100%, it is only a guess based on things that work and don't work. I would not want to post photos with arrows that might be wrong. If you take it apart and look at the aerial panel then my description should be pretty clear.
Reading through the Service Manual and some posts in this forum it appears that battery voltage might be an issue with some of the more "mechanical" functions of the Prophet. Checking your battery for low voltage might be a wise step before cracking open the case. All kinds of bits ping off and it never goes back together absolutely correctly

all was ok till yesterday.. sudendly... the camera mode is showing green bars.. vertical or horizontal.. what can be the problem.. i tried softreset..
Sounds like faulty hardware but backup your data and try a hard reset first of all.
I had the same problem. Turning the phone off (although not intentionally -- I was switching SIMs so that I had to remove the battery) and back on solved the problem.
i had the same problem
I still have the same problem... I took the phone to be fixed under warranty for 4 times... they changed the camera modules twice.. and the last time they changed the whole board.. still..same problem!
now it turns out that if I give the camera a couple of hits on the table when it is showing green bars, it goes back to normal... but that's no solution...
any ideas ?!?!
I Have the same problem with my JasJam, did get hold of a Dopod main board and fixed the problem. The Camera inside the JasJam, ( had it replaced 3 times too, ) doesn't have any padding on the connector like the Dopod does. However i suspect the Camera ROM may be corrup if anyone has a copy of a new ROM for the camera i would be more than happy to change the JASJAM board back in and give it a go as i cannot access Teltras Buisness Portal and Foxtell with the Dopod IMEI. The required software wont install without the linked Imate IMEI
Sounds like the camera needs to be plugged back in to the mainboard. It may not be pushed in properly causing your problems.
Use the HTC Service Manual to take apart what you need, You will need to remove the battery and back cover, and then fix it. You can test by fixing the battery in place and testing before you replace the back cover (I use a hair band to hold the battery in place).
Cheers...

Yeah, definatly the cause in the Imate, the Dopod camera has a small amount of padding so it can't Knock out, but with frequent fiddling i think i allso corrupted my ROM...I'm a silly bugger the camera seems to operat off a CMOS oh well... will have to find a workaround for the Dopod board then
Corrupted ROM shouldn't matter if you have Hard SPL installed. Use sd card method to reflash a rom you like.
Cheers...
Believe me I've look, but can't find it anywhere.
I wa't to prepare myself before replacing the touch screen, that has obviously broken.
It's not in the Wiki, where it should by IMO
Found it, it was in the Wiki for the charmer:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Charmer
Have U updated the Wiki?
Updating a Wiki? -> Wiki has been updated by adding "/magician" to string "disassembling Charmer"
Furthermore, the manual only goes as far as removing the parts from the housing and cleaning some contacts on the earpiece.
Missing are:
How to remove/clean-contacts the backup battery and replacing the touch screen from the display.
As I stated that I'm not lazy, I will post both procedures shortly. I've already succesfully removed the touch screen from the display (very tough doublesided tape). I've ordered a new one from hong kong (€ 5,-).
The rebiuld of this touchscreen will be photodocumented and posted in hopefully 14 days (shipping!!)
Magician vibrator
My vibrator is spinning at a slower speed that it used to. As you pull apart yours for the screen fix, can you also please provide some pics of how and where its mounted so that I can compare it to mine before I pull it apart to check. This area isn't shown in the speaker repair document in the Wiki.

I will provide a picture for the vibrator.
It it mounted in the front plate, but you have to remove the systemboard to get to it. It has two spring contacts that may cause a bad connection. cleaing with a pencil erasor and alcohol wil probably help.
i had the casing of my xda mini replaced in a celphone shop. however, the imbecile damaged my xda phone and now its signal signal is intermittent. the signal goes off, sometimes it is recovered in its own but oftentimes you have to manually search for a signal. now i cannot use its phone function since how can my messages and calls be received if i dont have any signal. can this problem be solved or remedied?
I have problem with my camera after changing whole Main Board in Service. Unfortunately I didn't tested camera with orignal ROM so I don't know if it's HW problem or WM6 problem.
Picture is broken to (mainly) green boxes (see attachments). It already happend with my previous MB and WM6 ROM, but problem disappeared without any intervent from outside. Any Idea what it is and what to do?
I got the same Problem
I got the same problem still trying to find a fix.. flashed my rom a few times and still no change ruuning schap's 4.00 wm6.
Hope to find a solution..
It looks like a software fault but how or were can one find a fix..
I got the same but before it was working fine :s could be because i dropped it a few times to many? not sure though works fine on black satin but now i got the the green blocks to
That does not look like anything to do with the ROM or indeed any software setting. I'd say that's a hardware matter - BUT hopefully just the connection between camera and m/board. If you have no guarantee/warranty then I suggest removal of and refitting the camera.
You'll need to remove the scroll wheel assembly first.
Scroll wheel assembly removed exposing the camera multi-connector. (This connection is the problem I think).
Make sure this connector is flat and firmly inserted.
Mike
This happens to me occasionally. normally when the battery is low.
Though it did happen for a little while after my phone decided it needed to go play in a puddle last christmas. Once it dried out it was fine
i got this when i dropped my handset at first after i dropped this. with with a bit of brute force and a few dropps after it works fine again
Like the above post saying it it nothing to do with the rom or any software it is the connection between the camera and motherboard
Hi,
I recently had a Magician shipped which seemed fine the first day of use, but at the end of the day, the gsm radio icon showed me a no reception, or 'service unavailable' message...
Now, after upgrading the Rom's (several used) and Radio update to the latest one (1.13 as far as I can see), I don't have any reception or 'service' at all...
The gsm radio always shows the '!' marker...
Anyone any idea where to look?
Loose cable, loose or bad antenna, software/rom issue?
Any ideas are welcome!
This device will be my test-unit for xanadux, but I want to make sure it's functional before testing stuff and debugging things that will never work because of a hardware or firmware issue...
Thanks guys!
Great work, super forum!
this is clearly a hardare malfunction. your device may not be identifying the sim card.
thanks for the quick response, but I don't think it's the SIM-slot that is causing me troubles... The SIM card can be read without any problem, and the pin code is asked and aknowledged by the phone. Once in a while I get coverage, but it always looks like 1 bar maximum, while my Trinity is lying next to it, same operator, and all 5bars of coverage notification are there, so it's not that I'm in a dead zone or black spot where there's no cell coverage at all.
I checked the upper back part (after removing the plastic casing top) and checked where the antenna is connected. Once, while holding and pushing onto the metal part that looks like the antenna extension, I got (just for 5 seconds that is) a connection, and signal level of 1-2 bars, but that dropped and stopped after a few seconds already...
I think it's a connection issue of some kind, internal antenna or the connection to it, but I'm not that keen on taking the unit apart to find out it's not that easy to sort the issue out...
Any help, info, ... can help...
Thanks!
the metal plate just below the top-backside plastic panel acts like the antenna. On top side of it there are two legs which connect to the mainboard.try cleaning the two spots on mainboard and the contacts of antenna.
well, i can say this because i solved this problem once this way.
good luck.
Well, I tried what you mentioned: scratched and cleaned the squares on the pcb, straightened the connecting metal parts from the back plate, cleaned all contacts: no solution...
Any other ideas?
Possibly a sort of switch which makes the device choose between internal or external antenna? What external antenna might fit?
Thanks guys!
Well,
I got my hands on a 'broken' I-mate Jam (got stuck between the car door, screen is totally broken, pcb is fine) and replaced the antenna block: FULL RECEPTION...
at least, for half an hour.. after that: reception dropped, and again left me with the "!" mentioning "no service"
I tried switching the pcb's but for some odd reason, the screen didn't come up good... The backlight didn't turn on and the screen was all striped and smeared...
Is there a difference in pcb versions, connectors, screens?
I thought Magcian = Magician, but now I'm thinking there are different models around there...
Bon... so I'm looking for a pcb of a Qtek S100 now... to switch that one with mine, and see if that helps...
really strange the reception was 'perfect' for about an hour, I even succeeded in making calls with it! No jitter, no drops, perfect reception, and then: BONK, over with it... nothing left...
Any ideas on this one, or any ideas on how to get the I-mate's pcb working in my Qtek?
Thanks guys for the info and help!
Hello;
It's been like a month that I have this problem, my bluetooth won't connect and neither is my wifi. The wifi sometimes connect with like one bar, the signal strength is awful and you have to be like 1 feet away of the router because if you move farther it disappears. I have tried to boost this in the settings by better performance but it doesn't make a difference.
In the other hand the bluetooth is not working at all, I tried to connect to my laptop and is like there's no bluetooth device in the area, tried it with my headset and get the same thing.
It's really frustrating cause this two features are very important for my daily use of this phone, so if someone now what to do please let me now.
Appreciate it!
Same here!
I have the exact same problem and apparently by the lack of posts anywhere on the internet nobody has an answer.
im having EXACTLY the same issue. im gonna open it up and see whats up.
The answer might lie within?
Try this link? What you're looking for might be somewhere in amongst these threads? http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=48353718&pp=25:confused:
can you repost that link? its saying search is down..
edit: working now.
???
I get a "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms." message.
???
nothing worth noting on the link. im gonna send mine back to htc..
I'm hoping someone will get to the bottom of this as i miss my wifi.
All was working fine on my phone until I had to take my phone apart because the plastic led shield had come lose and was touching the vibration device causing a strange noise.
So i managed to get the phone apart and push the led plastic cover back into place, i didn't touch anything else. I put the phone back together and all worked fine until i tried the wifi. Nothing, it turns on but stays as scanning and never finds anything even if its right next to the router.
I was advised in another thread that one of the cables might have come loose as i took the phone apart so i opened it up again but couldnt see anything wrong.
I'm just wondering if its a software issue somehow. As i never touched any part of the board, or antenna etc whilst it was apart and like i've said i couldnt see anything out of place or loose. Whether a hard reset will solve the issue i dont know and its a pain to do really.
I haven't tried bluetooth, but considering it looks to work off the same antenna that too might have broken.
maybe solved
find bttrayce.exe or bttrayce.lnk in windows folder
run it and check them
copy lnk file to startup folder
restart
this is for wi-fi too .
I've run bttrayce.exe and the ink file is in the start up folder.
This hasn't made any differance.
enable wifi n mode using registry editor like total commander or resco, go to:
HKLM/Comm/BCMSDDHD1/Parms/11nModeDisable = Change from 1 to 0
or, install bsb tweaks and enable wifi n mode.....
or, the best answer is to flash a new radio-improves bluetooth, data, wifi and call signal

did you hard reset and the problem persists? then it is a hardware issue, send it to htc.

so wait, you take the phone apart, put it back together, then it doesn't work, yet it isn't your fault? I hope you didn't screw up the void sticker covering the one screw when you did this, because you obviously damaged the the wifi cable in some way.
Obviously i'm aware that what ever has happened is my fault, my point was that if i'd taken it apart and knew i'd done something that might have damaged the board etc then that's fine I would be able to pinpoint what it was, but as i didnt do anything really especially to the main phone just the back case it's just a little odd.
Void sticker is fine.
seems like an antenna problem, there is a cable on the side of the phone with the volume rockers, there will be a cable going to the top board to the bottom board this cable attaches and can be removed. try to remove then reattach the cable
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL-jnUKufC4&feature=player_embedded
the cable is on 2:38 of this video.
Right I took my phone apart again this morning to double check everything. I noticed the cable attached at the bottom as mentioned in previous post. It lifted off a bit too easily, so I positioned it correctly and pushed it back down, my WiFi now works. So that was my issue.
So my advice would be if both your Bluetooth and WiFi do not work, it is more than likely the cable is lose. (more likely if your phone has been a part obviously)
Thanks for everyone's help and advice on here.
I had the same problem with my GPS. I took the phone apart and found that the GPS unit was connected to an amplifer via two gold prongs. The connection was not flush, so I stretched the prongs abit (not too much) to improve the connection and put the phone back together. The problem was now fixed.
From memory I think the bluetooth and wifi worked on the same principle, and I think the amplifier states what its function is.
Hope this maybe some help.
